hyperion rom reboots !! - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

hey, i've been using this rom months ago, and it rebooted today while i was using facebook and yesterday while opening a big pdf, anyone got this problem ? should i go for GENISYS XPERIENCE ROM since hyperion development is dead ?

You could try clearing cache and see what happens. How big was the pdf?
The Hyperion rom was THE Nòugat break through for our J7's, abandoned by Uncle Sammy.
Thanks to @Allooosh98.
It was to serve as a stock like Nougat rom. Ported from the A3. Development is not dead.
The rest of the Nougat roms are based on it or it's kernel.

thank you for reply, i just cleared cache i will keep an eye on phone to see what will happen.
i got another problem i don't know if it's real but isn't the battery draining so much ? if i compare my phone now with my phone with stock rom i can say my battery is draining much more than before. when my battery reaches like 15-5% it will auto reboot (usually happens!) and i remember that alooosh mentioned that there is more battery draining
i am using v2 of hyperion .. i got what you mean that hyperion is the origin but isn't there a new rom based on it but more stable with less bugs like the one i mentioned in my thread ?
p.s. (there is another bug in camera it fc when i go to effects) but it doesn't matter what i want to make sure about is the battery

There is a full buffet menu of Nougat roms now, thanks to our Devs.
I've been using Revolution OS for over 2 months now. There's more - Experience OS, Ex OS, Genisys, On8 port, Note 8 port etc.
Many include the camera bug fix. Try them out ?.
Your battery problem has been experienced by some others on here - do a search. Some bought new batteries, others tried recalibrating the battery. Good luck!

SoD/ not waking up on cm9/ ics

I had that screen dying this rom also... on build 3 as many more i´ve noticed.
I flashed that earlier kernel after not succesful try on that build 3 kernel.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12943198/ics22.zip by arakmar.
Normally build3 trough odin and flashed this ics22.zip trough cwm
Big thanks goes to MrComputerRevo for posting this:
"So I had no waking up issue so I falshed another kernel, but that decreased perfomance and sound was laggy... So I thought what if I flash the kernel that arakmar posted a couple pages ago... Guess what: I don't have lockscreen or waking up issues, sound is perfect and headset works! Try it!"
I followed these instructions and it really helped!
hopefully this helps someone too
nice news i needed to hear that to change to cm9
thanks a lot !!
by the way how do you see the battery backup? similar to cm7? or worse?

Nice to hear
Well my whole g3 is only 6months old so no battery issues on that case. But i noticed on cm7 that 1.3 hv kernell was the best, didn' t drain battery so fast. If u want more power/speed ( over 1ghz) with different kernell prepare to lose your battery faster.
On cm9 i'm using the same as 1.3hv stats, max 1ghz on processor speed. My battery has lasted on this for last 4 days, since i flashed this rom.

thanks for th info mate
i flashed cm9 with arakmar's kernel and everything is ok..but i want to get rid off the gapps that i dont need , i only use market and gmail..but i dont want to delete anything vital for the phone or these two apps :/ any idea what should i keep and what not?
none of the google apps is vital for the phone
Imo u can delete what u dont need, gapps are not vital for the phone, many roms doesn't have any of google apps but many devs put up a link for every one who wants gapps on their phone

hey there ive got a rooted galaxy s2, ive tried few of the ics roms but a strange problem occurs i.e. my cell switches off if i leave it unused for a while. and still unable to find a good rom.what do u suggest
I too have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I am using Phone-Bricker 2.5 It has a great app called Kitchen that helps you out with adding things onto the ROM and customizing it further.

How did you root your sgs2?
I'm on VK rom... I really flashed a lot of roms and this is the one I stick with, it still updates so thats good...
I maybe suggest to start all over. backup everything you need to backup and wipe your whole system. then just flash the vk rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559009
and if the battery issue is still there... charge your phone 100%, enter recovery mode and wipe your battery stats.
hope I helped a bit
The phone-bricker rom also looks good!! gonna flash and test it right away!! I'll let you know what I think of it...
I love the kitchen!!! Checkrom also has it! still waiting for that ICS rom to come.
grts!!!
unfortunatetly, the phone-bricker rom does not respond well in my sgs2... my BACK button and my homebutton aren't working... flashed it twice after full wipe. you know why this could happen??

so, the phone-bricker rom really bricked my phone. I tested it and as I said, my backbutton and homebutton didn't work anymore... and when people call me they only hear some loud noise, as if I was somewhere with a lot of wind, but not my voice at al (tested it by calling myself ) so I tried to start over and as I flashed the original ICS back, the call problem was gone. flashed the phone-bricker again and had the same problems. it's a real phone-bricker!! maybe other phones react differently...
still prefere the VK rom!! making my way back to it now...
grts
I also used many but so far, ICS Resurrection Remix and Liting' Rom are the best and stable.
Yeah now running the new remis and it is just what I want! A light smooth rom! But I don't get the tablet mode as you also can find in D4 rom... Is it a setting that I must change? I wanna try the sgs2 tablet!

What I wish for
Hi,
I seek a ROM that is FAST (with OC), STABLE, and customisable. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Hello. I tried Ollo SII and I think that this rom has the best battery life. Try it if you want...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650293
Or do you have any other rom with good battery life?

what rom do you recomend with long battery and internal memory...

hi guys,
first off all i want so say that i am a newbie... but i know that there isnt a perfect rom or a best rom, to save me some time i need your advice based on your experience.
a few days ago i rooted my p500, and i tried 3/4 different roms with 4.1.x android but with normal use, battery dont last long, only 10/11h... with official lg rom (android 2.3.3) it last 24h...
so, with your experience , what rom should i try? i dont care about design, only battery life... should i go back to official 2.3.3 android? note that i dont care if i dont have last android version...
another issue is the internal memory, before i rooted p500 i had to delete apps to install another ones. now the phone is rooted, with link2sd app i will have "more" internal memory so any rom is good in this aspect, is this correct?
thank you guys in advance, for sharing your experience
You know that there isnt best rom or perfect rom but still you keep asking....Search forums for good roms just like many others did.
Anyway if you want good battery life then stick with GB based roms.
gingersnap (android 2.3) ia very good and stable and has an option to install everything in the sd card

From all the rom's i have played with the 2 rom's with good battery life are icysnap 1.6 and gingerbreak. Icysnap 2 seems to have lot a lot of battery life. Also for icysnap 1.6 you have to partition the sd card and execute a script to use more of the sd card as internal space.
Unfortunantly i have not yet seen a JB rom that doesn't absolutely burn through battery. I am guessing that the JB os runs a lot more stuff in the background or the processes take a lot more computing power. This is just speculation by me though i know very little about androids other than how to root and flash rom's and even at that i used super one click to root this thing.

[Q] [KERNEL] Newbie here, some direction needed

Hi all,
First let me start by telling you what device I am using a Samsung Galaxy S III I535 running Liquid Smooth 2.37 rom.
I have been flashing phones for years and have bricked, unbricked & in most cases had success with dirty flashing and doing clean flashes. I have gotten to the point in my adventures with flashing phones to experiment with kernels, since that's all anyone talks about that gets some legit performance and battery life stats. So my questions are as follows ( and i apologize now if this has been asked a bazillion times before. If that is in fact the case, some direction to the link would be much appreciated, thanks! )
1) what are the steps one would have to take to properly flash a Kernel
2) are there any pitfalls and caveats i should be concerned about ( bricking is the obvious one here )
Thank you again in advance for taking the time to help me out. Just trying to get fully educated before i decide to start messing around further with my phones!

1) Make sure the kernel is compatible with your rom, Do some reading about the kernel -pros & cons.
2) Flash away. In theory, you don't even need to wipe cache or dalvik cache, but just wipe them to make you feel like...it's clean!!
3) The worst thing is you get a bootloop which is an easy fix.
One other thing to note, is AOSP kernels are not compatible with TouchWiz roms, and TW kernels are not compatible with AOSP roms.
Make sure you get the right one, if the developer offers both options.

Just adding onto this, one good way of ensuring #1 is to flash a compatible AOSP 4.3 or 4.4 kernel that is dated at or about the same time as your rom. If the more recent kernel doesn't work, try the release prior to that.

Much appreciated guys! I decided to go with [4.3/4.4][AOSP] ¤ BMS ¤ d2vzw / d2usc 3.4.y (link below). So far so good, flashed easily and no problems at this point. Ill report back and see how the performance gains are.

I noticed as soon as I loaded the Kernel there was an issue. It wouldn't connect to any wifi networks. As a matter of fact, I couldn't even turn on wifi, the switch just stayed grayed out after i initially hit it. So currently I am running KT until I can find a solution to my issue. I would love to run BMS given the great response but I need to be able to use wifi lol

Moto G xt1540 Heating and battery drain. Possible software cause.

Hello friends, thanks for taking the time for reading this.
I recently bought a Moto G3 second hand and had previously installed Lineage OS. And I have been having heating and fast battery drainage issues and i would like to know if reverting to stock can help me with that before sending it to repair.
I have three questions. How can I know that i have stock kernel? and if not, where can I find it so I can flash it?
And, if I flash the factory image, I can leave twrp untouched or i must flash custom recovery?
Thanks again.
Edit: Could it be that it has stock Gapps Package? Just trying to find the origin of the problem.

Install offitial lineage os with nano or pico gapps. Origin can be you are running extra apps if using larger gapps or some app may be causing issue which can be located in battery section which app using more batty or cpu in background

Hey, thanks for answering.
While I was waiting for an answer, I've tried: 1) clean install lineage with the smallest gapps package possible. 2) Trying Greenify and Coolify apps. 3) Installing a custom kernel and tweaking it with Audiutor. None of these have helped at all.
When is Idle the phone temperature range is between 35-39 C and with use is between 40-44 C. The battery last 10 hours or less if I dont use it at all, 6-8 hours depend on usage. The apps that get the most battery are Screen, Android os and play services.
My questions are: 1) Those temperatures/battery time are normal for this device or are they a common malfunction in hardware? (Maybe like S4 mini and Nexus 5x with emmc) 2) There's a chance that with the stock firmware I can get better battery time and less heat? (I've seen reviews that this model could get to the 2 days without charge, don't know if that's true).
I have had either a Nexus 5x and a Moto G1 and they never felt so hot when in use. I don't wanna send it to repair just yet because in my country there aren't official motorola stores and I don't want them opening the screen and ruining the water resistance unless that's the last resort.
Sorry for the wall of text. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I also face the same issues with some custom ROMs . iam using moto g3 2gb ram. I also flashed lineage OS 14. I also had the battery heating problem . but for others they have no issues. I almost flashed all nougat ROMs . I face this issue with some other ROMs too. I always do clean flash, with small gapps. I can't use some best ROMs out there as my daily driver because of this battery issue. Please help
Do you face the same issue with the stock ROM? Which ROMs have you tried? The heating is only in the battery or CPU as well? How much does your battery lasts?
I never tied stock . Iam using AICP ROM now it has no such problems. I had issues with aosp extended and dot os and some Oreo roms too. As u said I am also having 2 to 3 hours more battery drain
Should I try AICP? How much does it solve that problem? I think I've made a makeshift solution with kernel adiutor and lineage stock kernel disabling a core and under locking a bit the others and with a couple of powersaving governor's it doesn't heat as much and the performance it's not too unbearable, but the battery drain hasn't improved as much.
If anyone could shed some light on what could be happening I would be truly grateful.
Yes do try AICP, viperOS or RR works well for me and are stable .. I also tried custom kernel with lineageOS. But didn't solve battery draining . I don't understand why it happens to only some rom.

Ok, I've tried and I'm updating.
RR doesn't make my phone heat less and the battery keeps draining also AOSP 8.0. Seems like my problem isn't software related. I've yet to try the stock ROM so I can know for sure.
Thanks for the suggestion mate.
Bro then there might me some other issues that is not related with custom ROMs . Do check flashing stock ROM with out root, and I hope someone more experienced might help you
