Is anyone noticing slow USB transfer speeds? I have 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 ports on my computer. The 3.1 port displays extremely slow transfer speeds when it should be lightning fast. This is using the factory cable that came with the phone. I don't have any other 3.1 devices to test the port with.
Yes. My Previous Pixel 1 used to give 150-160 MBps while transferring files to my PC
Now my current Pixel 2 gives 60-70 MBps USB transfer speeds.
I am using the same Anker USB 3.0 to USB C transfer cable.

Anyone getting faster transfer speeds using an USB 3.0 flash drive with an USB 3.0 OTG cable?
I am using an USB 3.0 OTG cable with a SanDisk Extreme 3.0 thumb drive and am not getting any faster large file transfers than my 2.0 drive. (Around 35MB average on both drives.)
Could it be related to the read/write speed of the internal NAND?
I believe it will only work with windows pcs. Aomething about the drivers. This coupd potentially be hacked though

Hello,
USB C is meant to be USB 3 speeds for data transfer etc ?
However just checking the official specs and its says USB 2.
Does this phone have improved transfer speeds over ordinary USB 2 or is it the same as.
EDIT: - Tested transfer speeds
Read speeds at 28/30Mbs
Write speed at 37.5Mbs
Many Thanks
As far as i know, the phone is only equipped with USB 2.0
Will Have to do speed tests later on.
Shame they've got a new port but not upgraded to USB 3/3.1 if so
Right so I can read via a USB 3 port to the phone via USB C at 30/28Mbs and write at 37Mbs
Seriously?
Sony always manage to whack in under par hardware for these 3: USB, sdcard reader and speakers.
Since the z1 actually.
However this being there must premium offering I'd have hoped they actually changed this and inserted premium hardware. Shame on all the counts.
Yeah I'm not pleased with it at all.
So after a year, I managed to grab a USB Type C to C (thunderbolt 3) cable and test with a board with thunderbolt 3 port.
The speed for transferring a 1.XGB .mkv file via MTP is still 30-40Mbs... as expected.
Interesting thing is that flashmode does not work, but fastboot and MTP mode still works with USB-C to C cable...
Flash mode does work with USB 3.1 Type A to C port/cable on the same board.
Anyone else also have see something like this? Or maybe its just cable/board issue.
pretty sure everyone here knows usb 3.1 is faster than usb 2.0. While looking for the next phone to upgrade to, I've noticed some phones such as the oneplus 5 or huawei p10 are using usb 2.0 type c connection while the galaxy s8 or lg g6 are using usb 3.1 type c connection. is the 2.0 type has the same transfer speed when connected to a computer?
misread the spec. it is describing the cable connection, from usb 2.0 to type c 1.0 or usb 3.1 to type c 1.0. Another question is, has anyone ever tried connecting your phone with a type c to type c cable? how long does it take to transfer files to your computer?
Does anyone know how to enable full usb3.1 speeds on pixel.
Right now I'm using Samsung t3 SSD, but the write speeds are only about 110mb/s. Which is 5 times slower than a computer with usb3.0 port where I get 400mb)s write speeds.
So I'm wondering if there is any kernal or ROM that I can use achieve full sppeds,?
Thanks
Are you sure you're using USB 3.1 cable?
Yes im. I'm using apple thunderbolt to USB converter . And the USB info shows that it's using usb3.0. and 110mb/s write speeds are not possible with usb2.0.
It's faster than usb2.0 connection but no where close to uab3.0 speeds.
Totally guessing, but it's based on general tech experience for many years. The USB to Thunderbolt conversion could be the culprit. Things are often lost in the shuffle when using some kind of adapter that has to translate between formats.
The only way of telling for sure would be to use an equivalent drive that had a native USB 3.1 (or 3.0) connection.
I noticed the 3a only have USB 2.0, not 3.0. This is causing me to have a reconsideration on this phone because I take lots of photos and transfer files from and to the phone everyday.
Just want to know the experience for those who typically transfer files between their phone and computer. Does it feel too long especially compared to your other phones with USB 3.0.
Without using any tools I ran a few tests. I copied a 3.2 GB MP4 file from an SSD to the Pixel 3a twice. I used a USB C to USB 3.0 cord. It took 1 minute and 11 seconds. I then copied the same file using a USB C to USB C cord. It still took 1 minuted and 11 seconds.
That's roughly 45 megabytes per second.
I just use my network drive and transfer everything over WiFi as ac wireless is nice and fast.
