Hi all, I have an honor 8 running emui 5.0.1 and I almost never get notifications for third party apps. I've tried everything including priority notifications ignore batter optimisation but I still never get notifications.
Plz help thank you
Same thing. I had restore my apps from backup and that might be the cause.
try resetting your phone
EMUI in general isn't good when it comes to notification handling, I do face this issue sometimes too
Maybe you set a setting that kill every unused app?

Do all the three steps below:
Step 1: Go to settings --> advanced settings --> battery manager --> protected apps, then find the app you want to see notifications from, and protect it. This is "whitelisting" the app so Huawei's overeager software doesn't shut it down for no reason.
Step 2: Go to settings --> apps --> advanced --> ignore battery optimizations, then find the app and ignore it. Don't be tricked by the misleading wording, "ignoring" the app actually means to let it run, because you're telling the battery optimization function, aka Doze, to "ignore" that app.
Step 3: Go to settings --> notification panel & status bar --> notification center, then find the app, then activate "allow notifications" and also "priority display". You have to activate the priority part too to make sure you get notifications.

Okay, so:
Not receiving notifications when you should be? Try this to access "Ignore Optimisations": Swipe down from the top of the home screen > hit the settings cog icon > select Apps > hit the blue settings cog icon to the bottom of that screen > select Special Access under the Advanced tab > Ignore Optimisations. Search your app and set to "Allow" to fix notifications.
Restart your phone and pray!
Don't know if other steps are required for EMUI 5.0 ("Nougat") but you can check if you have in settings > battery > Close apps after screen lock. Uncheck for your wanted apps.

Nah you need to go in "Settings". Lock-on an app doesn't help for having notifications on time.

Okay nice tip so!
I'm currently on EMUI 8.0 and there is a nice menu in battery setting: "Launch" setting -> I set an app to "Manage manually" and then I check all 3 options (auto launch, secondary launch & background launch) and I set to "Allow" in "Ignore optimisations" setting, to be sure to get real-time notification working. :silly:

Welcome to my Info thread about the Huawei G630, and possibly other Huawei phones running EmotionUI 2.0 Lite.
ROOT:
This phone can be rooted with towelroot. You can find guides on YouTube or Google. After rooting install SuperSU! Do NOT try to install Superuser! It doesn't work.
NOTE: Due to Huawei's intergalactic craftsmanship you WILL loose access to internal storage after rooting with the phone file browser/camera/music player/media player and any other app that uses internal storage!
You WILL also loose the ability to change THEMES. Yes, Themes will be bugged. Change theme to default BEFORE rooting.
Currently there is no fix for this bug, however, you can insert a MicroSD card, and set "Storage default location" to "MicroSD" in Settings > More... (DEVICE) > Storage
ADB:
You can use Huawei's ADB driver or the generic Google driver.
The adbd on the G630 is secure, thus you can't write to the system partitions. Howerer, there is a workaround:
adbd insecure by @Chainfire - Get it here
SYSTEM MODS:
AOSP Lockscreen:
The most annoying thing on this phone is the lockscreen. Chinese quality at it's best. Luckily, the AOSP one is hidden behind the Huawei one. To get the AOSP one, just delete or rename HwLockScreen.apk in /system/app/ via Root Explorer or insecure adb. It wont look as nice as mine. To make it good as mine you need to move the ring more upwards, remove carrier logo and emergency button (be CAREFUL!!). To do so use the Xposed module "GravityBox"
GravityBox > Lockscreen Tweaks > Unlock ring vertical offset
GravityBox > Lockscreen Tweaks > Custom Carrer text > Put in a blank space (like this " ")
GravityBox > Lockscreen Tweaks > Tick Disable emergency call button > BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE!!!

}
Notification Pulldown Lag:
The GPU is no powerfull enough to draw the toggles and pulldown at the same time. So to smooth the notifications, go to Settings > Notification panel > Untick Notification Settings. Now it should be smooth.
Icon backgrounds:
Behind every icon is a background made by Huawei. Even if you use a custom launcher, the backgrounds are still shown. To eliminate them, navigate to "data/skin" and delete/rename the "icons" file.
Misaligned battery percentage:
Having OCD, this gave me the most struggle.
Oh boy, this an annoying one. The battery percentage is all the way to the right, right on the battery icon. This can be really annoying. To fix this, you can disable the percentage in /system/build.prop. Look for this line in build.prop
ro.config.hw_battery_percentage=true
and replace with
ro.config.hw_battery_percentage=false
You will get this:
But now you don't have a battery percentage, and Huawei's (ugh) battery indicator is unbelievably inaccurate. To solve this, you can download the Xposed module "GravityBox" and go to:
Statusbar tweaks > Battery Settings > Battery Percentage text > Show percentage text
Now you get something like this:
My God, this is even more annoying. I want my battery percentage BETWEEN the battery icon and signal bars. To fix this, you can enable "KitKat Battery" in GravityBox, to draw the KitKat battery indicator.
Go to GravityBox > Battery Settings > Battery Indicator Style > KitKat Battery
You will get this:
But there is one more thing wrong with it:
This grey color...
And this grey color...
Are not the same. Another bugger. It's also anti-aliased, blurry.
To fix this, you need to download Eclipse, AndroidSDK and the GravityBox source code, and change the background paint to white (0xFFFFFF) and apply an alpha value of 64 in the KitKatBattery.java file. Then you compile the apk, and install it onto your phone. Then, it will be perfect, like this.
See, NOW it is usable on a daily basis.
Alarm muted on muted ringtome:
When you mute the ringtone, the alarm also gets muted. To fix this, download AlarmPad from the play store. It has an option to ignore the silent mode.
This needs to be UNTICKED.
White Play Music notification:
Use "AIMP" to play music. Its free and has a colored notification:
Launcher:
Get rid of the Huawei launcher as soon as possible.
For an AOSP experince i recommend Nova Launcher or Holo Launcher HD. On those the animations don't lag, and also they are lightweight. Don't bother with Apex Launcher, it's animaitons lag. Also on Nova, animations are sped up, so go to Nova Settings > Look and feel > Animation Speed and change to "Stock".
"Using your phone while charging may prolong the charge time" notification
It appears whenever you plug your charger in. This pissed me off a lot. To eliminate it, use the Xposed module "NotifyClean". The app that generates it is "Phone Manager".
Now your Huawei should be more usable daily.
XPOSED
Xposed is the easiest way to modify this phone...and the only one. You can't decompile Huawei apps and write the system without a PC and insecure adbd by Chainfire.
Versions of Xposed working on this phone are 2.5.1 and lower. Newer versions do not work and won't install properly.
Xposed Version 1.5.1
app_proces version 50
XposedBridge.jar version 47
General facts and tips:
- WifiKill un-roots the phone, you need to re-root it. Watch out with this one, it could break your phone.
- After deleting the Huawei launcher from system/app, you can change lockscreen background seperately in GravityBox
- The back cover of the phone sqeuaks. I fixed it by cutting all the fasteners with a knife and adding double-sided tape to phone and cover to keep the cover from falling off.
- SoundCloud and AIMP have different volume levels. SoundCloud is quieter on headphones than AIMP. Watch your ears when switching from SoundCloud to AIMP! Always lower the volume first.
- I did not find any way to eliminate the volume warning when turning volume up above 50%
- You can use Camera FV-5 to maximise camera efficiency
- Switch from "Smart" to "Normal" in Power Manager so that the phone doesn't undervolt and slow down
There you have it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and press thanks if i hepled! I'm also ready to help via PM!

Together with Nova Launcher this has restored some 'root' style functionality and disabled some bug bears at least..

I didn't know about Adguard and am very glad you mentionned it as ad blocking was the main reason I wanted root (I used to use MOAAB) ! I bought a year license. Regarding All in one gestures I was very interested in the double-tap to screen off but it happens to be too much sensitive: every time I want to tear down the control panel, screen goes off so I removed the app. Thank you anyway for all these bright tips mate !

It's a false positive for the battery use, from what I understand it's taking it from where it would usually appear without it from elsewhere. Same scenario as Adguard..
I'm not having issues with the ram side of things
Re Adguard.. If peeps can afford the subscription, it's well worth it. Seems to be by far the best around. 7 day trial out of the box..

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus - Android™ 7.0 Nougat Release Notes
INTRODUCTION
We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus by Motorola. This update brings Android™ 7.0 Nougat to your phone along with other improvements.
For more information on Motorola updates and repairs, visit us at www.motorola.com/motog.
NOTE: You cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update.
ENHANCEMENTS
Android™ 7.0 Nougat improves your mobile experience with new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features.
After installing the software update you may notice changes that include:
Productivity
Quick switch between apps: Multitasking in your phone just got even easier. Double tap the overview/recent apps button to switch between your two most recently used apps.
Multi-window view: Android Nougat supports multi-window view, so you can run two apps side by side in your screen. For example, reply a text message while watching a video, or browse the internet during a video call. Activate multi-window view by long-pressing the overview/recent apps button while in a compatible app. Important: the developer of the app needs to enable multi-window view.
Work mode: For Android for Work users, Android Nougat comes with a new work mode toggle, which allows you to conveniently turn on and off your device's work apps and related notifications for a better work-life balance.
Performance
Data saver: Data saver helps reduce cellular data usage. When Data saver is on, apps running in the background won't be able to access cellular data. An app you're currently using can access data, but may do so less frequently. You can also choose which apps have unrestricted cellular data access. To turn Data saver on, open Settings from the app tray and go to "Data usage", then tap on "Data saver". To adjust data access for individual apps, got to "Unrestricted data access".
Doze on the Go: Android Nougat comes with an improved Doze mode. Now your device goes into lower power usage when you are not using it and the screen is off, even if you're on the move.
JIT compiler: The new JIT compiler improves runtime device performance, helps reduce the amount of storage space required for apps, and helps make app and system updates much faster.
Stability improvements: Includes changes that address bugs and help improve the stability of your phone.
Notifications
Notification direct reply: Android Nougat lets you quickly reply to messages right from the notifications. When you receive a message, swipe the status bar down and tap "Reply" on the message notification. Then type and send your response, all without opening the app. Works on compatible applications.
Bundled notifications: Get more information at a glance! In Android Nougat, multiple notifications from the same app are bundled together into a single notification group. Drag the status bar down and tap the group to expand it and see or take action on individual notifications.
Notification controls: You now have more control over notifications. Just press and hold on a notification to toggle the settings. You can silence or block future alerts from an app in the notification itself.
Usability
Custom quick settings: Android Nougat lets you rearrange the quick setting tiles, so you can find your commonly used settings faster. Just swipe the status bar down with two fingers, then tap "Edit" at the bottom of the quick settings panel.
Quick settings bar: A new settings bar was added at the top of the notification shade, so you can conveniently access your quick settings when reading your alerts.
Improved settings navigation: Find the right setting faster with an updated navigation menu in Settings.
Settings suggestions: Android Nougat gives you meaningful suggestions for how to get more out of your device. Find them at the top of the Settings menu.
Lock screen wallpaper: You can now have different wallpapers on your phone's homescreen and lockscreen. To set the wallpapers, long-press on an empty space in your home screen, then tap "Wallpapers". Once you select an image, tap "Set wallpaper" at the top of the screen, you will be prompt to set the selected wallpaper for the home screen, lock screen or both.
Improved system backup coverage: Android backup covers more device settings in Android Nougat, including accessibility settings, run-time permissions for apps, Wi-Fi hotspot settings and Wi-Fi network restrictions.
New and updated emoji: Do you speak fluent Emoji? Bring your words to life with all-new emoji, including redesigned human emoji with multiple skin tones.
Emergency information: Emergency Information lets you add information such as name, blood type, allergies, and an emergency contact so that emergency responders can view this information through your device's lock screen. To add or edit emergency information, open Settings from the app tray, scroll down to "Users", then tap on "Emergency information".
Accessibility
Accessibility settings in initial setup: Now you can configure accessibility features for your phone during the setup tutorial. Set magnification gesture, font size, display size, and TalkBack right out of the box.
Accessibility mono output: Assists users with hearing loss in one ear by combining stereo left and right channel output to a single mono stream. To turn Mono audio on, open Settings from the app tray, then go to "Accessibility" and scroll down until you find the "Mono audio" switch.
Variable text to speech: Allows setting a wider range for speech speed and pitches. Open Settings from the app tray, then go to "Accessibility" and scroll down to "Text-to-speech output". Use the sliders to adjust the speech rate and pitch.
Size of display elements: In Android Nougat not only can you change the font size, but also the size of the display elements, like icons and images. To adjust the size of your display elements, open Settings from the app tray and tap "Display", then scroll down and select "Display size".
Authentication
Trusted face improvements: Unlocking your phone with Trusted face is easier than ever. Trusted face, a part of Smart Lock, has new facial recognition, which is less sensitive to conditions like lighting, facial decorations and how you hold your phone.
Call screening: Allows the default phone app to screen/block incoming calls.
Internationalization
Multi locale language support and preferences: Now you can add multiple languages in your device settings to customize experiences for you, like showing search results in multiple languages and not offering to translate webpages in a language you already know. You can even sort your language preferences so that apps can pick the right keyboard & text for you.

Why not skip 7.0 and go straight to 7.1 instead cool features with this one like Smart Storage or App Shortcuts in Google Now Launcher.

Hmm., sounds pretty typical to me. Hoping for a MFN invite, but as you know, their opt-in options are strangely missing. I should be opted in already, but it's still odd.
According to their history, we'll get nougat in Jan.

Anyone know if there is a plugin created that will be able to toggle AOD? I want more control over when AOD runs than just a certain timeframe.
Secure Settings does this and works well. I use it to turn AOD off when I'm wireless charging and turn it back on when I take the phone off the charger.

Create a new task, choose Plugins, then Secure Settings. Tap the pencil icon and choose Actions, then Device Settings. Set Setting to "aod_mode". It's about half way down the list.
Set it to 1 for on and 0 for off.

Thanks a bunch. This will help me to utilize this feature of the phone when I actually want it on.
Yea, I used this on my S7E, and use it on my S8+. I use it to turn off AOD when I go to bed and plug in my charger. Triggered by AC source + Airplane mode (which I put my phone into every night when I go to bed).
I also turn off the charging LED as it's a bright little bugger too! You can do that using this app/Tasker plugin: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=70045373#post70045373

I've tried setting it up in Tasker with Secure settings and it just doesn't turn on AOD.
Does it make a difference if my S8+ is the Snapdragon version?

No, it doesn't. I am also using the Snapdragon version.
It works fine for me so I don't know what the problem might be. Have you tried manually running the task to turn it on and then locking your phone to see if the AOD comes on? If so, then the issue is with the profile and not the task.
If you can't get the task itself working, then something is wrong with the setup. Make sure both Tasker and Secure Settings are set as Device Administrators.

In Tasker, go to the Tasks tab, tap on the AOD On task you created, then tap the play button in the bottom left corner of the screen. That will initiate the task itself.
Do this with your AOD on and off tasks to see if they are working individually.

So I just tried what you said, this is what I did:
Went to the Task tab, tapped on AOD, tapped on play at the bottom of the screen (a green dot appeared), I then turned off the screen and AOD didn't turn on.
In the Samsung settings, I'm assuming that AOD should be off?
Hey Guys,
Can someone tell me what the right path is to create a shortcut to slide open the edge screen using tasker or secure settings. I know how to create a shortcut but cannot find the app to open it.
Thanks in advance

The Tasker/Secure Settings task will change the toggle in the phone's settings menu if it works properly.
I'm not sure what else could be preventing yours from working.

Cool, just what I wanted - to turn off AOD during night Thanx!
Tried it with macro droid where you can run tasker addons too.... But the AOD doesn't get turned on or off....other system settings like preventing private messages on lockscreen under certain conditions worked.
Hi,
Since I wanted to enable heads up notification/banner for all incoming Gmail notifications on my s8+ (Nougat 7.0, AQK7), I went the same way as I did on all my other Nougat based phones:
1. Enabled System UI Tuner (hold Settings button in notification panel and release it and System UI Tuner will appear in Settings (very bottom right above Developer Options (if enabled));
2. In System UI Tuner enabled Power notification controls allowing you to change notification levels from 1 to 5;
3. Opened Gmail App Notification settings (there are many ways to get there but the easiest is to long press on a gmail notification in the notification panel and wait for it to open or hit more setting on other Nougat based firmwares);
4. Tried changing the level of importance but it does not work. Although it appears the same way as on other nougat firmwares, you cannot actually tap one of the marked points on the slider (levels of notif.importance)..

Anyone has a solution to this ? How to unlock / edit notifications levels same as on any other nougat based android ? I want gmail to appear the same way whatsapp/sms messages appear and not just silently appear in the notification panel.
Floatify seems to be the only option.
I'm having exactly the same problem!
I was thinking that a custom firmware problem, but apparently not!

I managed to somewhat solve this issue (see bellow in detail). Besides missing banner/heads-up notification from Gmail I also wanted to have just regular lock-screen (AOD disabled) which wakes up on any notification (unfortunately on Samsung (Nougat 7.0, AQK7) only default messaging app wakes up the lock screen (for example, Whatsapp and Gmail do not wake the screen and only Led indicator is triggered when screen is off (AOD disabled, lock screen mode set to Swipe only).
1. Ok, so here's how I managed to have heads up banner type notifications from Gmail when S8+ is unlocked:
1.1. Installed Floatify Lockscreen (I have also Floatify Pro Unlocker which I had bought long time ago, so I am not sure if all features set in my config file will work on free version);
1.2. Configured Floatify Lockscreen (see my Floatify Lockscreen config file in attachment that you can also use) only for Gmail notifications when phone is unlocked (all other Apps are left unchecked see with all other apps you will have issues with double notifications considering that in Sammy firmware you cannot adjust Notification level of importance.
1.3. Baaaam..now when unlocked I get gmail notifications heads up with option to delete, quick reply, direct reply with pre-set replies.
2. 2nd issue to solve – any received notification wakes up the screen (AOD disabled, Edge led notif. disabled (no point of having it if does not work on all apps properly), lock screen – swipe to unlock):
2.1. Install Glimpse Notification;
2.2. Enable notification access to it and baaaam -> any incoming notification wakes up the screen with all available options to quick reply/delete/mark as read.
Floatify configuration backup:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KWvkW3kc_Y14OZlps_anq4afWYJ1RLgO/view?usp=sharing
^^^^^^^^
To use this you must:
1. Install Floatify;
2. Go to Help -> Backup -> Backup;
3. Replace backup file you created with mine (location Internal Storage -> Floatify);
4. Go to Help -> Backup -> Restory.
5. Baaaaaaaaaam and you have Gmail banner notifications wth ability to fully expande the message + with 4 actions to take (quick reply, delete, direct reply or go straight to the app). The style blends in very well on stock S8+ theme and rounded corners.
GHave you tried a hard reset? Would it help?
Do you mean this?

One more way to solve this is to use note 8 firmware ([ROM][N8PORT][STABLE][N][7.1.1][BQK6][06.12.17][SM-G95XF/FD/N] IronMan-Rom V1.1.0). With n8port superman rom ai tuner works + notification levevs can be changed, meaning you can set gmail and any other app that sends notifications to allow peaking :fingers-crossed::good:
Im running at moment the Batman Ron, and already tried with IronMan rom. Both roms have the same problem for me. I'm discussed it at the official topic of Batman rom.

You are wrong man, since you are accessing the options wrongly (you probably trying to change levels through Settings->Notifications but that won't get it done).
Step by step to get it to work on IronMan Rom:
1. Fully expand Quick Toggle panel and hold on Settings button for few seconds;
2. Once you release it System UI Tuner will be unlocked and available at Settings -> System UI Tuner;
3. Open System UI Tuner;
4. Go to Other -> Power notification controls -> click ON;
5. Then make sure you have a unread message in the notification panel from Gmail or any other app which by default has importance level bellow 4 set by the firmware default settings;
6. Press and hold on the received notification for few seconds and options to change notifications levels (see screenshot) will open up. Hit the star with A in it to unlock the possibility to change levels. Starting with Level 4 (gmail on s8+ firmware is locked at level 3 therefore Peak/Banner does not appear while unlocked) you will get Banner notifications from gmail. :good:
Important -> Edge Led notifications have to be disabled for this to work, because Edge Led notifications are totally different type of notifications that appear as floating message. + I don't use AOD (Security settings -> No fingeprint, just Swipe), since I want to have just a regular lock screen that wakes up one every received notification, but enabling AOD won't affect notifications that you receive on an unlocked phone.

Ok, the System Tuner UI part is ok! I enabled and set to on the PowerNotifications.
But when I try to change the importance level, it send me to the Notification option on System Menu.
I can't select like you showing in the print screen.
And I can't changed at all, it's always configured as Level 4.

You have to long hold on a notification that is located in the notification panel and option to change importance levels will be accesible (for some apps even without clicking the Star icon with A in it).
