S8 Plus HDR Compatibility - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hello Everyone,
I know that S8 plus is supporting HDR, but HDR10 Compatibility is something that can be done via software update? or its hardware related and built in the device itself?

Both, also depends on the developers, for example, Netflix has hdr support but is not active for our devices

Mhl output supported on xz?

Notebookcheck says this: "Important wireless features, such as Miracast, DLNA and Bluetooth 4.2 are supported. MHL is also on-board, which means that the user can transform the USB port into an HDMI-out to display content on an external screen. NFC and USB-OTG are also included, so as to allow communication between two devices in close proximity and connect external storage devices via USB"
Anyone know?

Snapdragon 820 has mhl 3.0 support.
Sony Xperia XZ doesn't have mhl support right now.

"Your phone is not supported, You can't run the game."

Hello, I am kinda new here (was reading XDA and rooting for long but wasn't a member), so take me easy!
My problem is: there is a game called PUBGM (mobile version of PUBG), it is in chinese, the developers chose certain devices to test the game on (mostly mid-range devices)... I wanted to try the game on my J7 prime and S6 edge+, however, it says my devices isn't in the scope of the beta-supported devices.
My question is: can I change the devices names to the supported one and it will work? I tried using "device faker" which is an Xposed module, it changes the name it the setting; even samsung store says not supported device ( I changed to Xiaomi redmi 3)... but the game is still repeats its message.
Any suggestions?
Why ain't anyone replying?
I have same problem please help us..

Most likely you are not getting replies because most here don't use Chinese software and many avoid it like the plague.
If it is not for your device means that it will most likely not even run it so you are just wasting your time.
Thanks for replying, but you didn't really help.

I solved this, use Plex VPN and select Shanghai, work for me on redmi 5 plus

And by the way, does XDA dev/contributors say: "AOD (or any new exclusive feature) isn't for your device you are just wasting you time?" Just saying.

Thanks, but that also didn't answer my question.
Try this:
1)Root your device in one click with kingroot or any app you TRUST.
2)After rooting install .prop from play store(this app fakes the whole thing in a way that no app or game can know what actually you are running).
3)Grant root permission after opening the game.
4)Edit your device name with a supported one like pixel or any Google device.Edit your Android version to the latest one coz Google gets all the latest Android updates.
5)Save it.GET ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY TO LORD"PLEASE GOD GIVE ME MY PUBGM".
6)Delete all cache data or clear data off the game. And launch it...
7)If everything goes fine you will be soon playing Pubg mobile.

4K 60FPS?

The Snapdragon 845 supports 4K 60FPS but all the reviews and specification sheets claim the device can only do 30FPS, is there a modification that can enable this?
Anyone have a potential solution or input on this?
There's a video from a guy who claims he recorded with 60fps and 4k with open camera... However I only got 30fps with it. https://youtu.be/VQ2a01Bd00Q

I just watched the video, someone's requested in the comments he shares the exact app but they've yet to get a reply, since Snapdragon 845 can do it I assume there must be some modification with root or a specific app that can do it
I would assume open camera supports this, i have this app on my Nokia 8 and can adjust a lot off thing resolution up to 4k/60 fps which is not in possible in the stock cam app only 4k/30. Also bitrate is adjustable for vid and audio. Please try and let us know.

Camera2 api is fully activated on mix 2s. I set 60fps on open camera, then it limits the resolution down to 1080p FHD. If I set 30fps it allows you to record 4K UHD

Miui's official Global rom. Not xiaomi.eu
There should definitely be a way to enable this with root the Snapdragon 845 is capable so it must be a software side thing, hopefully someone finds a way soon

I think it is blocked in the cam driver or in rom. My Nokia 8 is S835 with no stock 4k60, with open cam it is easily done 4k @60fps with bitrate of 50mbps without any hiccups. I would like to know if anyone tried open cam on Android P... I have to wait until monday for my MM2s was out of stock.

Really hope it's a ROM issue and not a driver issue because if it is then we can save goodbye to 40k60fps even on custom ROMs (I think), my 2s unfortunately doesn't ship till July so I can't do any testing etc.
Anyone tried 4K 60FPS on Android P Dev preview?
The mi 8 seems to have the same camera hardware and gsmarena says it does 2160p 60fps so hopefully its easily doable on the mix 2s.

All variants of the Mi 8 have [email protected] only difference being Mi 8 has OIS and the Mi 8 SE has EIS

Tell me what I have to do and I'll try it

Does it come with Ar lenses (similarly to the honor 10)?

I'm undecided between the 2 phones, one thing that caught my eyes is the AR lenses honor 10 feature which, although a bit childish, adds little 2D emojys to your face.
My wife's p20pro doesn't have such mode. I was wondering if the p20's camera came with it though.
Thanks
Huawei P20 Pro Emui 9 no ARLens and Qmoji
I also dont have it and im running latest firmware.
Now I have EMUI 9.1 but I still don't have Qmoji. If anyone knows anything, tell us.

Thanks. The hardware is much better on the Realme but i never used ColorOS. My previous phone was Redmi Note 4X and his software was amazing even in the beta versions. There are no Realme stores in my country so i can't see it in person before my order.

Just if you don't like color OS install a Custom ROM and problem solved, but you will lose 48MPX.

This phone is a overall better performer. Better processor, better display ( Mi A3 has only 720p screen, that doesn't affect anything if you are coming from a 720p screen). But damn!!!! ColorOS is just ****ty. I would prefer stock android over this anyday. Hope ColorOS 7 is better
