Since I upgraded to 8.1 touching anything in the notification drawer crashes System UI. Restarts with next screen on, but I can't do anything via the notification drawer, which is irritating.
I root (and usually theme) my phone (Pixel) - before upgrading I disabled and uninstalled the theme. Tried installing the OTA with flashfire, lost root, dirty flashed the full system image for 8.1 via fastboot. The system UI problem started immediately; I have since rooted the phone by flashing a Magisk created patched boot image, as you would expect the crashing system ui persisted, but it was definitely there before rooting.
I haven't themed since the upgrade and have tried everything suggested here:
http://www.blogtechtips.com/2017/02/28/fix-unfortunately-system-ui-stopped-working-android/
except factory reset. In summary that included reset app preferences, disable all non system apps that use the notification drawer, return to default pixel launcher, clear cache for system UI. The problem persists.
I don't want to wipe my phone atm because rl is busy, can anyone suggest another fix? It doesn't seem to be a widespread problem, but has anyone else encountered it?
TIA

9020t running CM9 3.4 w/ stock kernal, has been running perfectly fine but all of a sudden this morning multiple apps give me the error "Unfortunately **** has stopped". Along with that I know at least 1 app disappeared, my launcher reset to default, and apps that had already been granted superuser are asking for it again. Chrome prompts "Critical Functionality required to run Chrome is missing; either your Chrome installation is incomplete, or not compatible with this version of Android".
Going to do a full fresh wipe, wondered if anyone else has had this happen recently.

I had this happen with my old LG Optimus T, Booting into recovery and wiping the cache's did the trick to fix it without wiping the whole phone. But if that fails then a full wipe/re-flash would be required.
If you're going to do a full wipe anyway, I suggest you reflash CM9 as well, Just in case the flash image somehow became corrupt.
Today I update to the 30O than immediately updated to 33R and now I am getting a constant system UI crashed pop-up. I have rebooted multiple times. Anyone else get this or know how to fix?
I'd clear the cache / fix permissions. Seems like you flashed something bad. Ultimately I'd recommend a clean install.
I think it might have had something to do with root. I flashed SU and removed a root app and all seems good.
Hello!
My phone is rooted and has no custom roms or kernels.
I went from kitkat to lollipop to the lastest OTA update.
At first, everyone was having issues with the Google Play services wakelock, so I installed the popular suggestion of Calkulin's Google Play app. I installed it and everything was fine.
Ever since I flashed the lastest OTA via TWRP, I have this constant error pop up and it comes back every 2 seconds.
"Unfortunately, the processcom.google.process.gapps has stopped."
How do I solve this issue? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue...and I also used Calkulin's zip....so the only problem I was having before manually applying 17L was the 1 popup when I rebooted saying messaging app stopped. I did a nandroid backup 10 minutes before I applied 17L which is what I had to revert back to since those processcom.google.process.gapps has stopped messages make the phone unusable. I guess I will just stay on cm-12.0-YNG1TASOTL until there is a fix....don't want to lose all my data with a factory reset. From what I have heard the update is not worth all that.

I am doing a clean flash....I did a titanium backup of my apps
Went into TWRP 2.8.6
Did Factory Reset
Installed Zip
Wipe devik/cache.....twrp will ask you to root
go through set up...I choose to set up phone as new device so Google would not try to put all my apps back
Update the SuperSU Binary if needed
DL Titanium Backup from the play store...and restore your apps...only 60% done with restore process but I hope it works....so far no pop-ups
Hello, can anyone help me how to get the notifications popping/showing at the notification drawer?i can't get any notification or even getting the head up's notification. This is annoying because any of the messages and chats i received, i have to open the app to read it. Even the missed calls and low battery warning doesn't pop up.:crying:
p/s sorry for my english.
Using Tab 2 GT-P3100 Candy5 Rom v4.1 Unofficial
have you checked under settings-candy interface?
there is options for notification, check if its not disabled.
Have you deleted any system apps? maybe wappush or wisperpush?

For the setting i have been like enabling, disabling and changed it,but still nothing happens.
For the system app,I did try deleting the whisper push apk,but still nothing happen. Still not getting any notifications. Only whisperpush app have been removed from the system.
(Already tried wiping cache, dalvic etc. Results is still the same)
there must be some changes on your side. take a full nandroid backup in your custom recovery, then, wipe data as well, and do a clean flash and check if it's working there, maybe you did a dirty flash that causing issues. or just flash the same custom rom once again without wiping anything if you have deleted something from the system app that was needed for the notifications to work.

post it at the candy rom thread general discussion, the dev should be able to help you in this regard.
Anyone else met with this issue with the latest beta? I keep getting this error, none of my SIMs work and trying to go into settings-SIM&Network crashes settings.
I used to have Google dialer framework (Magisk) and Google Phone installed, removed them but the problem persists... Cleared Phone's data, set the OP phone as default app, nothing works - I can't receive or make calls, and the OP dialer just gives me a black screen.
Any ideas?
Can I go back to OB3 without wiping everything?
[EDIT] ahhh local upgrade won't let me downgrade...

I'm on latest beta 4 using a IN2025 OP8Pro. I used the full ROM not the incremental update to upgrade from OB3. I am rooted also. No issues you are experiencing. Sounds like you need to flash the full ROM from fastboot mode and complete wipe for a clean install and start from there.
./
Thanks for the input. How big is the partial update? Because the one I flashed was almost 3GB...
So, no real way to downgrade to OB3 again?
3gb is full ROM not the incremental update.
So that's not the explanation then... I wonder if factory resetting will fix the problem?
Any ideas anyone?
