Redmi note 4 (global) Camera issue - General Questions and Answers

Hello.
I hope u can help me, even if its not connected with xdadevelopers.
When im recording video (with stock app or most of camera apps), its covered with some annoying and ugly pattern by dots (sometimes are blank, just outline or its purplish). When im taking photo, these dots arent visible, but when im using "a Better Camera"app, dots are visible in photo mode and not visible in video mode. I think its not HW problem because, they should be visible in every mode. My glass on camera is clean. When zooming, dots are bigger. Here is video taken via stock camera app.
BTW using newest MIUI 9, even before it had same issue.

Stripes on Camera

I have got a new touch cruise (polaris) but when I tried to test the camera I noticed one vertical light blue stripe on the screen and also it stays on the photo. One or two days later there appeared three more vertical stripes and one horizontal violet stripe which also appear on the taken photos (see file attached). Those stripes only appears when turning on the main camera, those does not appears when using other features of the smartphone, nor when using the front camera nor when viewing the sample photos (cuz the taken photos are shown with these stripes).
I tried to find if there is any cover on the lens but there is no any one.
I installed the hot fox about blur when zooming but nothing changed.
I did a hard reset but the stripes did not disappear.
Unfortunately I can not use any guarantee for this phone.
My final option is to believe the rom (WM 6.0 spanish) was corrupted for the camera feature and that I could solve the problem reinstalling only the files for the camera (I do not want to reinstall the whole rom). Is that possible ??? Anybody can send me those files or tell me where can I find them ?? Any help ps
thks in advance
it's the same problem with me.. Anybody have a clue for this? The stripes is very annoying.. thanks...
anybody got the solution please?

[Q] Pictures blurry, photo taken

Hey everyone,
Just recently, I've been having a problem with blurry pictures because the photo taker assumes that the photo is taken and saved before it is taken.
Previously on roms, once you press the blue button on the camera app, you see the autofocus do its work, and then it stops (which means the photo has been taken).
However, on the ROM I am currently on, it does the autofocus and the still, but takes like 3 seconds after that before the photo is actually taken O.O I'm not sure why, but this is causing a lot of blurry pictures because autofocus doesnt account for the 3 seconds between the focus and the actually photo taken.
Any ideas?
I do not have your phone/brand/rom so I have no experience in your device whatsoever.
However, I think that you are spot on about the autofocus potentially being a cause.
Are you able to disable it or use another camera application that has tap to focus or similar?
Sorry for the late reply.
Using another camera app causes some glitches (parts of the picture cuts off, streaks of white on the sides, etc.). Tap to focus will not help the problem because there is still a gap between when the pic is taken and when it is focused.
Thanks.

Google photos, strange tint

Hi, just updated my google phones and now noticed when looking at photos it applies a strange yellow dull tint when the picture is loaded. swipe to the next picture and you will notice after a split second the picture dulls, most noticeable on white background pictures. if you drag up to get the picture information it reverts to how the picture should look, nice and vibrant. Is anyone else experiencing this? rather annoying.
Thanks
Same here no solution yet
Noticed it too....super annoying
Just got delivery of my OP7 Pro this morning and I'm experiencing the same. Any suggested solutions?
Same here, looks like a Photos app issue
I'm having the same problem on my OnePlus 7 pro. I noticed it after the latest update of Google photos
Update to my response: I noted that if you have night mode on, and you open a photo, Photos will change the color mode to normal again and your screen will look white. I have to turn off and then on the night mode to get the tint again. Looks like Photos is playing with the display color briefly.
Yeah, I'm having the same issue with my OnePlus 7...
This explains it: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...r-support-breaks-night-mode-on-oneplus-7-pro/
Glad I'm on the only one! Very annoying
My Oppo Reno 10x is giving me similar issues. When swiping from one photo to the next in Google Photos the colour cast changes after a split second and if you press the screen and do the slightest swipe in either direction without actually swiping to the next/previous photo, the colour cast changes as well. Doesn't do it in the native Oppo gallery so I assume it's a Photos issue.
Ones you download the picture to your phone is fine, so again it is Google photos problem.
Facing the same issue. ?
So I'm not the only one that noticed.
Facing the same "issue"
Have noticed it some as well...
Now here is a HUGE BUG with this. Open a google photo and leave it open with the weird tint. Lock ur phone. Now try to unlock using fingerprint. Guess what u cant... Seems the tint affect the fingerprint ready. U have to use ur pin.
You are right, can't unlock the phone when showing a photo with google photo. What a weird bug

Yes, seeing the same issue on the Oppo Reno 10x - i believe since Oppo is manufacturing the One Plus phones, they have the same issue...So if Google Photos is not the problem, i'm most probably sure, it will take a very long time until Oppo/OnePlus acknowledge and fix this problem...
Same... Been dealing with it for awhile now. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

Same over here on Oppo Reno 10x
Very annoying
But in the meantime I solved it by installing an older Google photos version from apkmirror. (Don't forget to disable auto updating in the Play Store!)
I don't think I will miss out on something although the app bothers me with saying so ?.
Version is 4.10.0.2346283390 and it works just perfect without any strange color adjustments a second after opening a picture. Finally I can watch my pictures like they should be.

Question Camera rotation lag

Hi there, I'm currently on S22 Ultra 8/128 (upgraded from note8).
Since I bought the phone, I noticed stock camera app is very laggy when I rotate the phone. I tried to figure it out and found that on the stock camera app, when I rotate the phone, not only the camera app but the whole UI rotates, and that creates the lag issue. You can try 2 methods to understand the issue.
1. Open the message chathead and open the camera. When you rotate the camera, the chathead will change its position from vertical side to horizontal side (depends which direction you rotate the phone). On note8, the system doesn't work like this. When you rotate the camera (with the rotation locked vertical), the chathead will stay on the vertical side.
//I just tested, even unlock the rotation, on note8, when open camera and rotate, the system still stay vertically, only function icons in camera app rotate.
2. You can open other camera apps like Instagram and rotate the phone, lag issue won't happen as the system still understand that the UI is vertical locked.
You can also see the green dot that notify the camera is using. When on stock camera app, when you rotate, the dot rotates/ changes its postion too. However, it doesn't when you use camera in Instagram or Facebook messenger.
The question is, is there anyway that we can lock the camera UI so that the phone UI will stay vertically whenever we rotate the camera?
Now, let me start by saying I have the 256 Snapdragon model, but on mine, I have no lag at all. When I rotate, the app actually does not rotate. The scene does and the icons on the screen rotate, but the app orientation actually stays the same. I do see the camera notification move as you noted.

I understand the orientation of the camera app stays the same. But all the back layer (the system UI) rotates when I rotate the phone. So it creates lag. You can see the videos below
Note8: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D_7c3gBpkiF4DIZbUD54gwsGLGUGI57U/view?usp=sharing
S22u: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DWj9tidd_xm_O3hREslqsWo64I0mF34b/view?usp=sharing
S22u Instagram: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1x9jG5sNavpCXWDt4P6QzwqryFA1qJ3c0/view?usp=sharing
You can see on note8's video, when I rotate, the chat head still on the same position (vertical orientation) and no lag. But on s22u, when I rotate, the chathead (and notification bar) changes its position. You can also notice the lag when my cat ran down the stair at few last seconds of the video. However, on S22u instagram's camera, it works just like note8 camera's algorithm (chathead stays at the same position), so no lag.
Thus, it can imply that, on note 8 camera and s22u instagram camera, the system understands that the UI should be vertical locked when rotating the camera. However, on s22u stock camera, the system UI rotates whenever I rotates the camera.
So how can make the stock camera on S22u vertical locked or at least the whole UI vertical locked when in camera app? If we can make that happen, i think the camera lag issue on S22u will be eliminated.

OK, so when I use the camera and I rotate my phone, the UI does rotate, but there is no lag. When I make a video and change orientation the UI does not rotate and I have no lag in the video. I can upload a video that shows this. Like I said on my first post, I am on a 256 Snapdragon phone, so maybe the lack of memory is causing your issue. I have tried everything to replicate what you are talking about and cannot.

Have you tried let the chat bubble stay when using the camera?
No, I do not use chat bubbles. I have recorded video and rotated the phone and as I said, the UI does not rotate as it does in camera mode. The green indicator for the camera stays in the top right corner (essentially it is now in the top left corner) in video mode but moves to bottom right (essentually moving to the top right as it would be in portrait mode) in camera mode. Hope this makes since to you.
Also, there is no lag in the video at all as I rotate the phone while recording. The playback also has no lag in it.

Your idea about lack of ram may be true. I have no lag (or just a little) when rotate camera without chat bubble. But when the chat bubble comes up, the lag issue raises. It is samsung's (or google's) fault as when at the same situation, note8 (according to my clip) doesn't get any lag. I still think that the UI should stay vertical whenever the camera rotates to eliminate lag issue.
Bold: you can see the problem when you rotate the camera and go to camera setting. The setting UI will change from vertical to horizontal; and that implies the system UI rotates along with the camera. On note8, the camera's setting always in vertical even you rotate the camera. It is strange that camera in instagram, facebook messenger and other apps still work like note8's stock camera.

I've had good luck using

The settings I had to change to get it to work was turning on auto white balance (pics were green without it turned on), then I went to the advanced->ancillary camera settings to turn on the ID2 and ID4 cameras so the buttons would show on screen. Renamed ID2 to wide lens, and ID4 to Macro lens. I don't know if I used correct terms for names, the ID2 is the 0.5 camera and the ID4 is the flower icon camera from original camera. ID1, ID,3, ID5 options seems to crash app so I couldn't figure out which one goes to the physical 4th camera on back, so no clue how to access that particular camera plus I don't know what it's for.
Video and everything else appears to work without crashing. It does crash as I play with setting to get it to work better.
Not sure how many people are using the phone still being 2 years old, and didn't see post in the apps section unless I missed it. So here's something in case someone happens to still be using the phone like I am.
