Factory Reset & Root

Hi All,
Did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this.
Basically I've successfully downgraded to ICS and rooted then OTA'd back to current firmware. (I am locked)
I want to factory reset the tab to maintain stablity / remove the junk. However I want to maintain root. I've googled and apparantly FR doesn't loose root.
But I wanted to confirm. Do I need to temp unroot on OTA or just leave it rooted? And can anyone confirm this maintains root?
Regards

I didn't touch a thing and did a factory reset, root was maintained. Just remember to have the OTA backup in place, you can leave it rooted.

[Q] A question about Huawei's updating system.

So guys, the thing is, I plan to buy this phone soon, and a small, stupid question popped in my mind. I'm no n00b but as Samsung doesn't allow OTA updates to rooted users, does Huawei also apply the same mechanism? So to update, do we have to unroot and reflash stock recovery?

Yes, the stock recovery is needed for all updates

I'm rooted and on stock (Russian) recovery - reverted from CWM - and I got the update without any problems. So no need to relock, unroot etc to get official OTA updates.
So no need to un-root right? That's good.
Yeah but you need to reflash the stock recovery

[Q] Canadian Galaxy Core SM-g386W rooting

Hi everyone,
i have been searching for 2 weeks how to root this phone, but no luck yet. I am saying no luck for a proper way to do it , because you can do it with the avant method, or by using the CF method which uses the SM-G386T firmware, and for reading lots of forums, i know it works, but the problem is if i ever want to update later, i would not be able to do so. I already have the firmware for my phone, G386WVLU1ANJ1, running android 4.4.2 KITKAT, and i have extracted the recovery.img from the firmware file. I am searching how to unlock the bootloader so i can apply whatever rooting method i want. Since i am new to this, i need some information. If i ever want to use the CF-Auto-Root method using the SM-G368T model, can i go back to stock phone whenever needed by flashing recovery image from the SM-G386W ?. If not, is there any other method i can use, preferably one that doesn't trip my KNOX flag to 0x01. Until now i have tried 2 methods, Towelroot and Z4root, which didn't work at all. The main reason i want to root is i want to get rid of the bloatware installed by default on my phone and gain control of my phone without any restrictions, and customizing it.
Please need help.
Thank you very much
P.S: can anyone recommend some reading about rooting android phones?

I also own one of these phones and would like to root the phone to get rid of bloat ware and make the phone run smoother. I would appreciate if you could give a quick run down on how you managed your root. Greatly appreciated.

Rooting question

Hey XDA,
I recently bought the Huawei ascend Mate 7 and I would like to know that since root is way more convenient (hope i spelled that right) if I lose my warranty and say i want to restore trough HiSuite will that still be possible?
It's a Really good phone but im missing root if it will avoid my warranty i will ofc not root ^^.
Thanks in Advance!
Greetings BeWeard
Root itself doesn't stop you flashing the phone with a stock ROM but TWRP recovery does. You need custom recovery to root, so indirectly it does affect returning to standard.
Well if you want just root and still keep the stock recovery, use kingroot desktop!

You unroot by kingroot.apk
I tried the full unroot in supersu app but it seemed to not work. My phone says root is detected but upon checking root checker it says no root. Trying to flash an updated stock room. Will it work? Sorry I'm really unsure of what to do now
