Hello guys,
We all know how awesome those photos look which have that depth effect in them called the Portrait Mode. In 2017, Portrait mode is all rage and most of the smartphones could achieve it using 2 primary cameras.
With the introduction of Pixel 2 lineup, all this changed when Google achieved the same effect using a single sensor with dual pixel technology.
We all know that Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus uses the same dual pixel technology for faster autofocus. So now, it is very much possible for Samsung to provide the Portrait mode for S8 & S8 plus like the Google did but it is highly unlikely that Samsung will work on it considering that their main focus is on the Note lineup.
Galaxy S series phones are costly too & we users spend a considerable amount of our earnings to get a flagship experience & thus should not be left behind with features like Portrait mode which can be implemented with a software update. Considering the current scenario, Samsung is not going to roll out this feature with the Oreo update as well.
Thus I have created a petition on change.org which I request my fellow users to sign. If we get enough signatures, then who knows, we might even get the Portrait mode in the near future.
Here is the link to the petition Sign Here
Do spread a word among all the Galaxy S8 communities so that we can get maximum support.
You do know these petitions do absolutely nothing, regardless of how many people vote, right?!
Jesus christ enough with these ridiculous petitions lol I have a hard time believing this one is even for real
Just use "Selective Focus" ?
yip, selective focus gives same effect, works very well. see pic attached
Samsung has already mentioned that they are working to bring portrait mode to s8 and s8+.

That was supposed to be with the Oreo update.
Is there any thing else that I missed out on?

According to latest rumors, Motorola is preparing new model currently known as X Phone. For the first time we should see edge-to-edge FullHD screen on smartphone. From designers perspective I took liberty to implement some elements that could be useful, but in same recognizable in Motorola line-up. Phone should run on latest stock Android OS.

I quite like it! But, I'm never certain how the technology will allow for detection of erroneous touches - seems like that's the biggest problem with edge-to-edge

If you haven't already, grab the new camera update. Grid was added. In fact, we got three variants, including golden ratio. Very nice Essential. I'm liking this device more every day.
Not sure if it's just me but the mono camera seems o be better too.

I came from a Galaxy S6 and I find the camera very acceptable. Portrait mode is a pretty cool feature as well! The only real thing I miss is the voice feature like saying shoot to take a picture.

I came from my wife's S6 as it was spare and my phone was a OnePlus One.
I'd say the camera is slightly better on the S6 still but it isn't far off.
I only found the S6 "say shoot" late into using my wife's phone. Total gimmick [emoji1]

New update brings a massive improvement to HDR. GCam is still better, but the gap is slowly closing.

Hi Guys,
I wonder wich "best" Smartphones from 2020/2021 are rootable?
Especially looking for one with a Superb Camera.

(obviously only Android - Iphone Users don't have much advanced control over their phonse..)
Because for Example Galaxy S21 isn't rootable (yet?) - I mostly used rooted (&optimized) Samsung Smartphones (now still having the S10)
Wich one you would recommend these Days?
Because I never want to use a Smartphone, wich lags root possibillities (without it is too insecure, too many ads, too many ****/spy apps etc etc)
Probably you are also looking for one, so we would be happy to share our Knowledge.
My Candicate for now:
Galaxy S21 Ultra

See you:
It seems, there aren't many users watching this.
I think many would be interested, but I also know, that many pro users are only interested in their smartphones forums, not this one.
However when you have an better Idea, please let me know.
not sure that package falls entirely in one phone. OnePlus lots of roms but cameras... Pixels maybe, but it's not top tier SoCs. I think Samsung is doing everything it can to block unlock but it still be done on non updated phones. GSIs might be the future of decent roms for many.
if Samsung release the rumoured S21FE it might be a snapdragon that's unlockable on international versions.
For me, I vote Pixel #1 and OnePlus #2. I won't buy anything else! I've owned everything at one time or another but these devices use custom AOSP roms as if they were born with them. Current using Pixel 4XL stock rom August 2021 build along with few magisk mods and Sultan kernel. I couldn't ask for a better experience really!!
Hi all,
So I've just updated to the new April release, and have discovered that Samsung are STILL not giving us access to 60fps via the Camera2 API.
I know this is a super longshot, but is there any way of getting around this?
Many people are after this, some for using apps like Filmic Pro, others (like myself) want to utilise the phone as a portable camera, that can use NDI to broadcast video on a wireless network, for use in broadcasting. (This works perfectly in 4K with my current setup, but is lacking of 60fps which would provide much smoother video)
I have contacted Samsung about this, but every time I ask I get NPCs responding to me telling me that it's the App Developers fault, when it most definitely is not. After using an API prober I can see that Samsung do not give any access to request 60fps, only frame rates of 30 and below are allowed to 3rd party apps.

I used you picture, I hope that's okay. Sign the change . Org and share wherever can get signatures to have Samsung change this. I'm a disappointed s22 ultra owner
This campaign needs you now
Ask Samsung to unlock full camera features for 3rd party apps for video creators
chng.it
The front and wide angle camera work in 60fps and 120fps with quick video recorder. The powerful main doesn't.
There is a app called "SetEdit" which when given permission via adb, you can add a variable that allows 120hz camera.
Found the forum post.
S21 Force 120Hz!
So this is a huge discovery I made! Myself and many others are annoyed at the fact that Snapchat drops to 60Hz whenever the camera is activated. I found a workaround that allows it and other applications to remain at 120Hz even when the camera is...

Tried it and don't seem to find those settings on my s22U
"If for whatever reason these lines are missing, you can add them by scrolling all the way up and hitting "Add new setting". I'm not sure why it varies for some users.."
Installing it now...

Pretty useless if you do not own one of these flagship models I'd say...
This update just popped up on mine today and I applied it (it zapped 5% of my fully-charged watch that was still on the charger the whole time!) Then the Wearable app wanted updating on the phone, so I did that as well. Seemed to work OK so far.

Yep. Fewer and fewer people care about "flagship" models. I bought an A52 5G and ended up with a very fast phone, SD card, several capable cameras, real headset jack, OLED screen, and in-screen fingerprint sensor for under $400 (a little more than a year ago). Or I could have spent, what, DOUBLE for a "flagship" with a little better CPU, case, and camera, while losing the headset jack I use all the time? No thanks.
I own the same smartphone A52s and exactly for the same reason.
Did you find a way to use the Camera Control (samsung official app) on our A52s?
I have updated the watch and now the back button doesn't work...
Am I the only one with this issue?
EDIT: ok, after a watch reset and restore it works again...
Finally rolling out for the my R890 in Denmark

I didn't and it sucks. I have to use third-party one (only camera one actually works for me), which lacks in picture quality.
