So slow - Samsung Gear S3

Hello there,
since the Tizen 3.0 upgrade that my watch loose the stability that has it. Sometimes its so slow. I have to activate the sensibility of the screen to better response.
Even after a full reset of the watch it still the same. Sometimes a little a lag
Do you experience the same ?

Please any help? Because my wife its experience the same symptoms

SM-R760 or SM-R770?
CQK3 or CQK6?
The problem is...
Seems no stable settings...
Tizen 3 at the moment have more then 1 problem...
Battery
Charging
Speed
Incompatible apps and Watchfaces...
.
.
.
This is the reason why Samsung stopped Rollout... they removed Tizen 3 from Samsung Server...
You could downgrade to BQC5 or BQH1 for SM-R760...
SM-R770 only BQC5 public...
Only as info.
We don't know how many weekS Samsung need to roll out new bugfixed Version...
Best Regards

Hello
it´s not the LTE version. SM-R760
And how can i downgrade? after downgrade it will not appear to upgrade again to Tizen 3?
thanks for any help

At the moment all Samsung Server removed Tizen 3 update over the air...
So no FOTA to:
Code:
CQK3
nor
CQK6
No idea when Samsung will be ready to rollout the new "beter" Tizen 3 Version... hopefully with less Bugs.
For downgrade SM-R760.
You can choose between older BQC5 Firmware or BQH1...
SM-R760 BQH1 for ALL countries...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/development/oxa-rom-gear-s3-r760-t3695150
BQC5 for ALL countries:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/development/rom-samsung-gear-s3-sm-r760-t3588062
ALL countrties means only all CSC/Sales Codes inside... for ALL...
Samsung only preconfig by active CSC...
And only rolled out by "selected" countries...
If you can remember if you used BQC5 or BQH1?
Then easier to choose.
Best Regards

My gear s3 Frontier bezel movement has become very slow after the update.
Whenever I move the bezel nothing changes immediately, it takes 2-3 rotations to change a single page.
Anybody else facing this sort of issue?

Totally. If I go for a run or walk I spend more time trying to get my watch to respond than paying attn to where I'm going.

I have the same problem. Anyone have fix for this problen?

Bump this thread because after the one ui update the watch runs very slow

My update notification disappeared and cant update. What to do?

Hey guys,
I own a Gear S3 Frontier and today, as I woke up, I saw a notification on my phone (Galaxy S8) that new Gear update is available.
I clicked on it and a window appeared, which eventually turned into white after a few seconds and got a text which said that it was trying to connect to my gear, even though my S3 was connected to the phone.
I left it like that for a minute or two and then I decided to exit the current window and manually search for an update. Unfortunately, I got "The latest updates have already been installed" screen.
I restarted both the phone and the S3 after that and decided to give it a try once more. Again, with the same result.
Does anyone have an idea how to make the update appear again? :/
Samsung pulled update as confirmed by several on xda. Still no news when will we seen the working tizen 3 on our gears...so far its known that on korea and is is getting updates as confirmed by friends here on xda.
But the thing is I get the notification, but the process does not want to continue It happened again during the day...
Strange....
I suggest to wait...
Sometimes "False Alarm"...
Maybe they started and then stopped again...
After November CQK3 and CQK6 "experimental" Version... seems also December Version CQL1 maybe not final "Patch"...
If we would know CSC/Sales Code... then possible to check what is latest FOTA...
This is better as I smell Firmware or I feel update...
IMHO Tizen 3 is still under construction...
And not rolled out in all 80 CSC... only in 3 confirmed:
Code:
KOO Korea
XSA USA
XAC Cannada
These 3 CSC have CQL1 FOTA...
ALL other have nothing Tizen 3 related...
Maybe we have to wait for CQL2 or CQL3 or...
My opinion.
NO need to Factory Reset or something else...
Simple wait for Samsung.
Best Regards
They have released a new Tizen 3 but it's being rolled out in limited stages.
Which region has yet got new revised tizen3 update??

Slow to open text messages

When I open Messages and click on a thread, my watch is often really slow to open that message. I'll click and it will open it seconds later.
Anybody know of a fix?
I have the exact problem Samsung gear s3 on tizen 3.x. It's terrible

I'm really frustrated. I'm thinking that maybe it has to do with BT transfer rate. I don't have a cellular plan for it because I'm on Sprint and Sprint doesn't offer it. So I have my watch connected only via BT to my phone. I've noticed the lag is worst in text message threads containing photos and ones that are overall pretty long. Can the lag be due to that? I don't know. My wife has an Applewatch and it's connected only via BT, too, but she has no lag. So it can't be just due to the BT transfer rate. I'm frustrated and confused.
Yes it's very frustrating. I have also have a Samsung gear s3 3g running game tizen 2.x and it doesn't have this problem. I noticed it when I switched to the frontier and upgraded to 3.x. I haven't been able to find a work around for the problem. It doesn't really matter how much content is in the message, even a single message is painfully slow to open
Same here, I normally don't reply to text messages from my watch and just see the quick notification who it's from and later open up from my phone. I recently sent a reply from my watch and it is excrutiatingly slow to open messages and to send messages when the entire app and watch are lagging trying to type gives constant errors because of the lag. I NEVER had this issue before tizen 3.0 update, FFS what is Samsung doing? This is unacceptable on such an expensive device.
I wonder if anyone has posted this with Samsung to see what they have to say? It makes me want to step back and load tizen 2.x on my s3 frontier as the upgrade is just not worth it for the features.

Is it possible to flash an earlier version of Tizen? I don't know too much about how smart watches work.
I haven't tried it, but yes there are firmware versions for older versions of tizen for your model of gear s3. However I know it's not easy, and can lead to bricking your watch. So unless you are an IT guy like myself, you may not want to undertake the challenge. I just hate having you go backwards on any of my devices.
Tizen 3 if terrible

Gear S3 Sensors Stopped Working

Hi,
can anyone help me with my issue, my gear s3 was working perfectly till last month. I didn't notice it but it stopped recording my steps, heartrate and floors count. I tried to check but all of the sensors stopped working. I think it happened after an update. I tried to contact with Samsung Care, they asked me to reset my device, which I did many time but didn't get the sensors to work. After that they said that they have to open the device and check what's the problem. In my country I don't believe them. So please let me know if there's any other way to fix it.
Thanks in Advance.
Same problem
Same problem here, mine stopped working yesterday. I am from Peru but bought the watch via Amazon in the US. Did you have any luck repairing it?
Not yet.

Have you tried any local Samsung Smart Stores? I am taking mine there tomorrow, although I am not very confident about this...
Any luck yet? If we roll back to tizen 2.x via NetODIN, does it work? Does such update void warranty?
No idea, never happend to me.
But somebody tested with Combination Firmware?
Example... If we mean SM-R760...
So I would check with 2 Combination Firmwares...
BQC2
and CQL1...
BQC2 FTMA (Tizen 2.3) is here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/development/rom-samsung-gear-s3-sm-r760-t3588082
CQL1 FT30 (Tizen 3)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/development/rom-samsung-gear-s3-sm-r760-t3746522
Only idea... not tested...
Good Luck.

Same problem, sensors like wrist wake up, heart rate monitoring etc are not working after the latest update.
I also did multiple watch reset, factory reset, cleared both gear app & plugins data.
However, my friend's watch is working even after this update, we bought it together. So, it happened to few unlucky ones only.
The only difference between our watch is MCU version (checked using test mode, sensor hub, *#0*#):
My MCU version is BRO10 (Status: Fail) where as his MCU version is BR0118032200 (Status: Pass).
I think this is the probable cause, may be my update was not applied well or fully since we have exact same watch brought from same place at same time.
Hope next update will fix it.
Tizen version: 3.0.0.2
Software version: R760XXU2CRG3
Model: SM-R760
Mcu fail. Sensors stopped working. Mine is 756F version.
Very frustrated. Brand new watch. Tizen version 3.0.02
Anyone tried downgrading?

Take it to the Samsung store that's the only way.
I took my watch to Samsung store, they weren't sure what the problem was. They wanted to send it to hardware store and open it and check the problem. I refused because I'm ok that my watch's sensors aren't working over losing the water proofing upon opening it.
I bought this watch in Singapore and unfortunately I am outside and dont live there. I am still willing to send it for a repair over there but I am having such a hard time and bad customer service like you have never seen.. I told them I am willing to bear all shipping costs and then my family will pick it up. This watch was bought there and stopped working after 3 days of use. It has full warranty and proof of purchase. This is nonsense and the level of service there is crap . None comparing to the US. I feel helpless. I am almost on the edge of throwing this watch away, because I dont see how I will get proper support to ever fix it.. Extremely disappointing. I had Huwawei watch 2 and it works like a charm. Was a big mistake to move on to this Galaxy Frontier...
Here is an update. Finally managed to send the watch overseas for repair. I believe that board was replaced. All is ok finally!! Watch and sensors work great.

I have the same issue too. When i turn on the watch it works fine but after a while the sensor tilts and the tracking steps, HR and wrist unlock not work any more.
Reboot the watch and happen the same.
I think that is not a HW fault altough Samsung replace motherboard. Still looking for a solution.
Thanks !
Tizen 3.2 caused a ton of issues... Gotta wait for new update. A ton of S3 watches have been impacted but they're taking their time to correct as all focus is on the Galaxy Watch now..

But when someone take his watch to samsung repair service their exchange the motherboard, it seems to be a HW fault.
I hope a new update fix this issue.
Tahnks for reply!
Is somebody here with Sensors dead?
If yes...
Maybe check this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78651867&postcount=6
My Sensors are still alive...
But I have not flashed nor updated to higher Firmware as CRH1...
So I """need""" somebody who is able to check Combination Firmware(s)...
Again. I have no problems with my sensors... I am trying only to help.
Best Regards

Maybe somebody is here who is able to check few Threads about:
Code:
BCM47741UB2G
Maybe we can find usefull tips also in Samsung S7 threads...
Best Regards
Edit 1.
5 Minutes with Google...
I found thread from 2013...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48639844&postcount=15
Code:
*#2663#
Code is working in Combination Firmware...
Tested short in BQC2... so IMHO CQL1 should show this also...
NO idea if Code working in Stock Firmware...
I will make few Creenshots form my device... maybe Video...
It is very tiny and also TSP and other stuff is in this menu...
So be very carefully with your fingers... not to press wrong Button...
Best Regards
Edit 2.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78662067&postcount=21
My result of today...
Captured 2 Videos...
Code:
*#2663#
Code seems also possible work in Stock Firmware...
OWN RISK!

Looking for Firmware

I'm looking for the US versions of the firmware for the WiFi (non-carrier) SM-760. Finding a chronological history of updates seems next to impossible.
I'd like to try the 3.0.0.2 firmware for the that came BEFORE the R760XXU2ESF2/R7600XA2ESF2 version. that killed my watch, but would be willing to try any previous versions if it'll get my watch working again.
I see the thread by @deadman96385 with firmware for all variants, but the SM-760 version says it's for Canada. Not sure if there's a difference or if or how that might affect me in the U.S.
Any advice from someone who has flashed using NetOdin would be appreciated. (Any issues? Like does Samsung Pay / MST still work after flashing?)
Thanks!
I have a sensor issue and after I did the update they all worked after I did a shut down they are back to nor working and I was looking for that firmware too but it seems like it's not out there.

Samsung S3 Frontier SM-R760 (Sensors) Working Again

Ok Guys, This goes out to all us S3 Frontier (R760) users who have found that their Sensors no longer function after updating to the latest Tizen I found it annoying that Samsung would release a OTA not knowing it would cause Us too lose functionality of our watch, and despite numerous reports from Users across the world nothing has been done....Apart from of courser Samsung releasing OTAs that didn't fix S**T.
Despite losing that functionality I kept using my watch in the hope that Samsung would came too their Sensors and do something about it but NO!!!! just more OTAs so I decided that I would Roll back my device and roll back I did. Not to last years FUD1 Tizen 4.0.0.7 nor the year before that (2020) with the FTD4 firmware another Tizen 4.0.0.7 O.S but all the way back to Tizen 3.0.0.1 CQL1.
Now before rolling back to Tizen 3.0 I first tired with Tizen 4.0.0.2 DSA1 and there was a spark of hope when the HR sensor came to life but nothing else (Sensor) wise and it was short lived, with the HR sensor soon stopping shortly after. I did perform a Factory reset to see if that would correct it but unfortunately not and is probably where the issues started with Samsung releasing subsequent OTAs making things worse.
So with the Tizen 3.0.0.1 firmware on hand, I flashed it using Netodin and with the Watch passing the Flashing process all I could do was wait for it too Boot. Sure enough once reconnected to my phone and setup I went through and Tested the Sensors and found that ALL were working as they should including the Wake up gestures.....YAY!!!!!
So you too if you want can regain what you lost by flashing this firmware *******AT YOUR RISK ******* I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILTY IF YOU BRISK YOUR DEVICE *********
I have provided the required File below, Extract and you'll be greeted with 4 files BL, AP, CSC and a Pit File. Place these files into their corresponding positions within Netodin including the Pit File ******** There will be a Warning Message pop up when adding the Pit File just press OK and it ( I DID ) then press Start and wait for the Watch to reboot. DONE!!!
******** This could also work for other S3 Frontier watches as long as you have the appropriate Firmware for your device. ****************
********* If your unfamiliar in using Netodin, I suggest YOUTUBE.****** If you find your having Connection issues Check the watches Wifi properties in your PC and change it from Public to Private that should do the trick.
SAME issue I am on R760XXU2FVG1
Sensors not working.
First will flash the 4.0.0.2 DSA1 one that's given in the forum. If that doesn't work will flash the CQL1. Will update soon
So out of curiosity I decided to update the firmware mainly because Galaxy Wearable informed me of the update. Little did I know

Yeah keep us updated, would be interesting to see how everything turns out for you.
Installed Tizen 4.0.0.2 DSA1 didn't work. @jays note 2
Installed Tizen 3 given above by you along with Pit. Still it says fail. None of the sensors are working HRM, Gyro, accelerometer.
Software version, Tizen version matches with your screenshots.
But the attached screenshot only MCU Version differs with what you have posted.
I made sure my phone is disconnected from WiFi so that it wouldn't download any updates..
Am I missing something?
[Edit] Done using 2.3.2 firmware version also. No use. Still same issue with sensorhub
Hmmm that's interesting I would have thought rolling back to tizen 2.0 would have sparked at least 1 or more of the sensors too work.
Have you tried factory resetting after each flash, through recovery? I know sometimes things get a bit messed up after flashing. Worth a try, if not there maybe a chance your MB might be stuffed
Yes I hard reset before every flash. I even tried the combination firmware posted on other thread. Still nothing. I think it might be a hardware issue. For now I'll consider this as a fancy watch without any fitness features
PS: Thank you for this post. I think it helps many people who faced similar issues. Take care
One thing I could make out of this fiasco is that Samsung isn't as premium as a brand.
Their smartphones batteries swell after few years. This watch software is made so haphazardly. Build quality is bad - My watch strap feels very bad on skin.
They launch ton of products but doesn't give enough attention to each of them.
There is no longevity to their products. I like to keep things for long like 5+ years.
This is why I feel like moving to apple ecosystem.
