[Q] "Smart Headset" Missing - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I just recently bought a Huawei Mate 9 and I'm loving this unit so far. I upgraded its OS to Oreo via OTA since this unit is not rooted.
After testing, I noticed that my Poweramp's headset remote control (volume up/down to skip track) doesn't work. I researched a bit and found that there should be a "Smart Headset" option in the setting that I can configure to do the same job. Weird enough, I cannot find it anywhere in the settings.
I'm using EMUI v8.0 with build number MHA-L29 8.0.0.321. Can anyone please assist this poor soul? I just want to enable the music skip track using the volume of my headset. I hope this is possible without rooting the phone.
Thank you very much everyone!

On previous versions the setting is in settings-smart assistance and then under the accessories heading.

I never saw it in the settings. I had just read somewhere (googled it) that you put an app on the screen and then hold down (for 1+ second) the "multi-window" soft-button and it splits into two and you can add a 2nd app. It works fine, you can resize etc.
Turn it off the same way, hold the now 2-lines button down until it goes back to normal.
I think it's disabled in emui 4.1 only emui 5.0 but if you have rooted i saw somewhere in this forum how to enable it
I think so too, its disabeld for this device.
Im looking for many, nothing function.
But on the Honor 5x was this function Not disabeld

Hi - Just tested it again on emui 5 beta:
Here is a screenie of play store + gsam I think.
you have to enable it in settings somewhere, and it only works if you are using stock huawei launcher. it says "this app doesnt support dual windows" when trying on nova
As far as I know, the only honor 8 model that have dual-window in marshmallow is the indian one

Are you using Nougat? I don't recall having to set anything in settings to get it to work. It's a long press on the "most recently used apps" button both to enable dual screen and to go back to single screen.

I guess he's referring to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/themes/honor-8-multi-window-dolby-atmos-adaway-t3451325 but there's a bug with it

Problems finding cells nearby and controlling lsd

Hi guys,
Ive got 2 issues with my honor 8 with nougat.
First, there is no way to find cells nearby with Tasker. The phone doesn't find any cell, although the data connection is perfect. Does anybody know about this problem? Any suggestions?
Second, is there a way to control the led light? I want to switch it off at nights, but there is nothing like that in settings. Led control apps on playstore didn't help either. Is there a work around?
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you expand the notification zone, do you see an icon of "Nearby"? Have you tried enabling it to solve the first problem?
Just tried it but no success.

i changed the standard player to power amp already and i read on mate 7 forums u have to uninstall the default player but i dont have the same folders so im kinda lost...

There is no problem, everything works. View the settings and try to set the widget on desktop.
P.S. I have the paid version
I think that is just a issue with the custom skin that Huawei is using

I don't mean the power amp lockscreen I mean the default lockscreen audio from power amp like the one which shows on the normal lockscreen.

Vibrate on Bluetooth Disconnect?

Is there an option to vibrate when Bluetooth disconnects from my phone? Android wear 1.0 had this option, but I can't find it on my new Huawei. Thank you.

I know there are watch faces that have that option. Like the ones from HuskyDev

Update Germany CLT-L29 8.1.0.120(C432)

Hi guys,
Just received via OTA last night.
Anyone now more about this update?
The first thing i recognized is the new animation, if you leave an app and go back to home screen...
Just testing if updating of widgets is still an issue.
Some camera fixes I think.
so far...

my phone received the update few minutes ago
Received this update today as well. T-Mobile in the US.

Slow-mow in 8x and 32x got rid of these snowflake-ish pixels. At least on mine with that firmware-update. Hussa! :good:
I also just received this in Ireland, noticed the new app closing animation but still haven't brought back the ability to interact with notifications on the lock screen. I'm running. 120(C432) also.
I did notice my handset was randomly rebooting on .107 so hopefully this is fixed as well.
Will update if I notice any other changes since the update.
I've just spotted this new eye icon in the top left hand corner of the camera app that seems to launch a new bar code/item/QR scanner feature powered by Amazon Assistant. Almost like Google Lens but nowhere near as good from what I can tell.
It appears to be the same thing that you can launch from swiping down from the middle of the home screen to launch the "app search" feature and the eye icon is up in the right hand corner of the screen. Really not sure how much if ever I'll use this to be honest!
Same here. Poland
Just got 120 yesterday. I notice a new option under smart assistance, HiTouch?

A review of the Huawei Honor 10 on androipit.com mentions a view updates in Emui 8.1, apparently "HiTouch":
"(...) can be visually adapted in many ways and offers some exciting additional functions. On of them is called HiTouch and it’s an intelligent aid to identify products with the camera and to buy them directly. To use HiTouch, you have to activate the corresponding option in the settings in the Smart assistance area. The first time you use it, you’ll need to install the Amazon Assistant app."

Received it today in Romania. I too noticed the new close app animation. I also monitored the widget freeze issue and it seems fixed, woohoo! ?
Now there is a 10x zoom... Didn't recognize it before, is it new with this update?

I recalled 10x is there before. Just no dedicated button, have zoom in with two fingers.

Widget updating problem seems to be gone with this update [emoji3]

Hi there
After updating to the 120 firmware, I noticed that Huawei finally dropped its own Emui smart unlock feature (unlock only if connected to a Bluetooth device) in favor of Googles native solution (unlock with Bluetooth, secure place, wearing detection). But after a short while, the smart unlock menu cannot be opened. If I chose it in settings, the phone asks for my pin, after entering I get a blank screen. Clearing dalvik cache, reboot etc didn't help. Restore to factory settings solved the problem for 1 day, but after that I suddenly got the same blank screen. Anyone any idea?
Edit: found a solution to the problem. Just disable secure unlock as a trusted agent under security settings, then clear app cache, enable it again as trusted agent and reboot. Working fine after that.
Anyone found a way to disable/change the new app-close animation in the settings?

You can disable all animations in developer options if that helps.

Actually, yes. Feels much better at 0.5x scale. Thank you very much!
When will the single sim version get the update?
