Led light notifications - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Is there a kernel with the option for led notifications?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

What are you trying to do apart from activate them and/or change their color within apps that let you pick the colour?

Activate the light

You don't need a custom kernel for that. Settings > Apps & Notifications > Notifications > Blink Light.
Then if the app lets you customise its notification led colours just set that there. Working fine for calendar, email and various message apps for me with the stock kernel and unrooted device.

Found it and turned it on. Anyway to adjust the speed of the light?

You can use an app to chnage the blink speed and color for various notifications.

Some apps let you do this in their settings, though most only allow you to specify colour (and some not even that). I don't know whether something like Light Flow lets you control the speed since I've never used it (am happy enough with what I've been able to do through the individual apps).

App to disable notification light at certain times??

I'm trying to see if there is an app that will allow me to disable the notification light during certain times. If I'm in a meeting and it starts blinking it totally distracts me if I can't get too it.
Thanks!!

yup...either setup some profiles,
or buy tasker & you can set all sorts of things up
How do I set up profiles. If I can do it without buying tasked that's cool. This is really the only thing I want too do.

I tried a bunch of profile apps and the only one that would turn off the notification light was light flow. But after installing it I have a constant green light that stays on.
Has anyone found and app the will allow I turn off notification lights for select times.

What.!!
I meant that when does the led light up by default??
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Basically he wants to know what notifications the led lights up for, by default? As in before any customizing, etc. What does the led notification light up for on stock?
I am curious about this as well. I've watched and watched for the light and it didn't come on for anything until I installed light flow, lol. So I am curious

The light comes on so long as you have it enabled in settings.
It also lights up in the color reflective to the app, usually..
For Hangouts, it's white.
Facebook, blue. Facebook messenger, green. Snapchat, Yellow. Etc.

Ticking 'Notification light' under 'Settings -> Display' is the requisite for your LED to work at all. As soon as you disable this no app should be able to trigger the LED signal again.
I suppose that the notification itself is not handled by the system because it doesn't appear for every notification. It's more like every app can take advantage of it. I don't know every app which is capable of using the LED - just some of them; but they have already been mentioned in this thread. Some apps don't support the LED notification light, some do and even let you customize its color.
If you want an all-in-one solution to customize colours for different apps I can recommend "Light Flow". I bought the paid version and I'm totally satisfied. Just be sure that those two options are activated, else the app can't control the notification light.
-> Settings -> Security -> Notification access -> Light Flow activated
-> Settings -> Accessibility -> Light Flow -> On
I didn't like Facebook messenger to be green. I turned it blue. WhatsApp is green, SnapChat is yellow and so on... Works like a charm for me :3
Use LEDBlinker, I think it works better..

They both got lite versions so you can easily try and choose which one you like best. Would be great if there'd be an official solution from Google. A system app that is able to control the LED for every app But again: At this moment in time there are only apps in Play Store which can do this.

Different LED notification for Missed Call & Voicemail?

Like the title says, does anybody know if it is possible to have different LED notifications for Missed Calls & Voicmail Messages? I was looking into Lightflow before, but was planning to donate to the Gravitybox dev anyway and noticed he has added light control to Gravitybox in donation package, so I went ahead and donated. The feature appears to be very nice and easy to configure.
I currenly have:
Facebook Notifications: Blue LED
SMS/WhatsApp Notifications (via Disa): White LED
I was wanting to have:
Missed Call: Green LED
Voicemail: Red LED
However, this is set per application. I have set green LED color for the Android phone app. However, I believe Voicemail must be part of that app as well. Anybody know if this is the case? Thanks for any insight.

You might need a custom ROM. I don't know if Xposed can do it.

I use Lightflow for this and it works very well. Its extremely customizable.

You can also do this on the Dirty Unicron's ROM
XenonHD rom has those customizations built in

flashlight?

Hmm I've heard the flashlight will now let you set intensity but I can find a setting to turn on the flashlight without using a third party widget.
Very easy. Open your Quick Settings at the top...hit the word "Flashlight"...not the icon but the word. It will bring up the options to change it.
How is the maximum brightness level vs the old toggle?

Thanks just got back to this. It seems I had the button layout set at 4x3 and it wasn't showing it to me and when I clicked edit I still wasn't seeing it as an option to add. When I changed the layout to 5x3 I got it back.
Can anyone comment on the flashlight brightness levels achieved by the update? I ask because I'm rooted on MM, which allows me to use a root flashlight app (see below) that is insanely bright. I use this on a daily basis and (unless the new built-in toggle can match it) losing this will keep me from upgrading to Nougat. It's that useful to me. Losing my preferred version of Google Maps is another big issue, but the phone torch allows me to not have to carry a separate flashlight at work and makes my life simpler.

The brightness is stock in middle setting. When set max it's 2 times brighter.

Notification light for WhatsApp messages

Just upgraded to S8+ and notice WhatsApp doesn't trigger notification light. All the settings have been setup in the app and in settings. My sms/email app's make the light blink. Is there any other setting that needs to be modified for WhatsApp? I know i can enable AOD but see'ing the light is much more convenient. TIA.
