Some incredible features of MiA1 :
1. 5sec super fast finger print scanner
2. Best Low Light camera
3. Best signal range
4. Best video recording camera
5. Fastest software developments
6. Amazing inbuilt FM Radio
7. No app crashing
If you guy's know any other features of MiA1 comment it...
nice trolling attempt.
Just bought it yesterday. Coming from an axon 7. So far its okay, but i honestly think that the camera is mediocre at best. Im worried about battery life too.

1. Very funny, fingerprint sensor is quite good, november update did some bug but im sure they will fix it next version
2. Using google camera it's on par to all other cameras more or less, using native camera I agree, quite horrible
3. No signal issues, in fact its better then my g3
4. Video is bad, i agree
5. Software actually is much faster then most other devices, and is pretty close to nexus releases, I work with almost the entire pixel/nexus series so I know. only reason oreo isn't out yet is because they already launched with Nougat and it takes time to develop a new build. remember that Google work for months on builds for their devices, if Xiaomi released it too quickly everyone here would whine what a terrible company Xiaomi is for releasing such a bug filled update. I'm sure android P will be out much faster
6. Who still uses FM radio? anyway install Spirit2 and it works fine
7. No app crashes here... if you have app crashes 99% of the time it's your apps fault unless its a system app crash
Nice trolling attempt as others have said.. for $200 it's def the best of it's category bar none

There is no FM radio
I have this device with November update, everything fine BUT, I have a big problem: all apps like feedly, Instagram, telegram etc get new start during using the app (not phone, just app), so all new messages shown as read.
After factory reset still the same problem. Any idea?
How do you use the FM radio in this phone?

I don't understand your intention. Before buying a device, read reviews, reviews and reviews!
BTW:
1. 5ms on my A1
2. It could be better indeed. Use other camera app, like Footej camera, Google or Snapdragon camera
3. Perfect here, nothing but perfect
4. Not pretty with stock camera app, try Footej
5. Why, where is the problem? The security patch level is from 6th November, the latest build from 18. November. And do you think with Oreo your device will turn to gold. It is nothing special about Oreo. Have tested it on several devices.
6. Where you have read, there is a in-built FM radio? And who need an FM radio these days
7. I have my device exactly 7 days: rooted with magisk, installed a Firewall, Adblocker Viper4Android, Substratum and lot of mods. Not a single crash or reboot. Absolutely nothing. 2 days with one battery charge, 9 hours SOT.
I had never a better device for 200 €/$ and I can imagine what will happen once the kernel sources have been released.
If you're not satisfied with your tissot, you can sale it to me. And be happy without the best phone ever made!
Cheers!

i can agree with some of the other comments but 9 hours sot?? Unless they shipped you a Mi A1 with redmi note 4's battery inside i think that is ridiculous. Or probably you use your phone like a nokia 3310 without any 3rd party app installed otherwise its simply not possible..

Yes, of course. No gapps (all frozen), no FB, no WA, no Insta or Snap. Greenify used, adaptive brightness is off. That's it.

No wonder.. i dont think that you should quote that SOT coz that's not a normal usage by any means... Any person who is yet undecided on whether to get this device or not might just read that and decide its the average SOT for this device and buy it only to later realise that its false/achieved with heavy modding and not using most popular social media apps..
And yes, also since you don't use any apps that are known to cause FCs on this device that is the reason that you are not facing these crashes.. coz lots of people including me are facing multiple systemui crashes everyday..

Oh cool! i get a similar SOT without greenify or tweaking the kernel but yeah 6 hours is the max i have got.. i have seen 7 hours and a lil more that some people are getting but 9 hours is something that is very tough to achieve with normal usage imho...
BTW i am so happy u got this device and am eagerly waiting for xiaomi to release the sources so that great devs like u can help get full potential out of the device! I had to wait for more than an year for redmi 2 sources.. i hope this time it does not take that long
Also i used the lightening blade turnables for ex kernel in my G4+ to control heat issue and it worked splendidly! it did something similar making sure that the cpu sticks to lower frequencies.. Hearing this makes me pretty confident that we will have some great development for our device in future

No problem, everything is fine. I am just wondering about all this issues posted by lot of guys here or in the MIUI forum. I have really faced none of this. Maybe it is because I have frozen all gapps and I don't use social media. I am enjoying a fast, smooth and reliable device with an awesome sound, excellent GPS. Also, I have a steady and fast mobile connection. I am using the 7.11.18 build, rooted and installed TWRP of course.

No, that can't be the reason. I have not frozen any apps and I use social media (FB, WhatsApp, Instagram etc.) without any issues whatsoever. My Mobile connection is fast and steady, I don't have any force closes, my sound is also excellent (no hissing on the 3.5mm audio jack as some people reported) but I am also not using any "performance booster" tools to free up RAM or reduce power usage. I don't trust those tools.

Yes, I am using the latest november update, 7.11.18. Model MDG2 (back of the phone and somewhere on the box)
I noticed that a lot of people reporting this issue are from India, maybe it's an issue with the indian model (MDI2) vs. the global model (MDG2)?

I had frequent SOD so I couldn't use as needed reboot quite often. Wouldn't wake from any long period of standby.....could be kernel related and linked to double tap to wake.....

Ok, already downloaded and tried, no luck... Still not satisfied, too much noise on the photos, but I think I know what the problem is... I also have a LG G4, and the photos are superb, and comparing both phones is not really fair, but I'm forced to compare... But thanks for the camera app, going to keep it.
I've just flashed the rom and working perfect... Thanx man..
2 days edit;
just an issue for this rom, I got a little bit heated back near the camera. when screen is locked, it's 39 Celcius. but while I was using Whatsapp and Facebook I checked it in CPU-Z and around 55 Celcius. Is it normal?
...yes, I been noticing that too, I think that the kernel does not have any thermal control enabled by default, just go to Kernel Adiutor and enable the thermal option, enable Core Control only. It's pretty much just a guess, but I think it may solve the overheat problem... By default it doesn't seem to have any thermal control enabled, you have to manually enable it . The best way is to ask the developer, Nutsda, I'm pretty much just trying to get there...
Thermal control should be enabled by default, if it isn't then enable it using kernel auditor & yes it does seem to be normal, I was reading a while back that it is a issue with the chipset our phones use & other phones using the same chipset, to run hotter than most phones, sitting between 50 & 60 degrees in use. The only real way to lower the temp is to drastically reduce performance
True, it's pretty much confirmed, have done some research and this chipset caused heating problems to several smartphones, it's not even about the phone brand, it's pretty much about the Snapdragon 615. In my phone it easily gets 65.C, but it's not big deal, if it fries up Vodafone will have to give me another one.
can do a port of rom miui 8 or rom pac?
So I been following the Pixel and Pixel XL forum for a while now, it seems like xposed and rom developement is either slow or in the case of xposed framework none existence. I think the S7 edge under Marshmallow will be the best phone with the best android firmware for a while... so to those who would want to update to the latest and greatest, realized that xposed might not even reach Samsung Nougat for a long time.
The next best thing I found was the Oneplus 3t which have MM out of the box, however you can opt for installation of Nougat if you like. CM13 is still available and there are dev for it. other than that, I dont see any other phone beating the S7 edge Exynos version.
Have to disagree. Running Nought on a freshly reset phone was the best move for me. Very snappy. I recommend the upgrade.

I have! I've tried both vanilla, and a custom rom with all the trimmings.
Agree i went back to mm after 3 months of N since beta, yes N is a bit snappier but for the cost of bad battery life, mm is still fast and remember s7 edge has a fast hardware so its very unlikely to face lags etc.
Mm is fast reliable and xposed is ready to be used !
If Xposed it holding you back, you should rethink the advantages. GraceUI is prettier and has a lot of nifty little additions, Android N itself has some and overall its snappier.
I used to be an Xposed hog. But I could find alternatives for pretty much everything. I miss Gravitybox-level customisations but, solid custom roms such as Renovate make up for it! For Snapprefs, I use Casper, adblock by Adaway, etc..
From testing multiple ROMs
Marshmallow - Best standby time, most editable
Nougat - Worse battery life, smoother (not necessarily faster).

WIll you Google account not be banned when using Casper?
I love snapprefs, not because of the saving/uploading/filter features, but mostly beacuse blocking preload and background loading of stories etc, Snapchat is a real battery hogger and has taken the wrong direction.
I also wanna update to N, but some of the xposed features are holding me back
Snapprefs
Youtube background play
AppsOpsXposed
Greenify
MinMinGuard
Rootcloack
Xtouchwiz
I need the rootcloack for my banking apps, can not login without root.
Are there any options?

there are xposed modules that could save you money, someone in here already listed it, so I wont mention it again, trying to keep it discrete so it could last a while. Grace UI is also on the Note 7 rom, which i am running from Rennovate, so I am not missing anything.

Casper can be used with a new Google account. It hasn't banned me for anything so far. But make sure you don't login to Casper. Use it as a root session. This means you still need Snapchat to be installed. Plus Casper doesn't support chat function yet... So you can't completely replace Snapchat either.
YouTube background play can be done via a cracked apk. I think OGtube? Honestly not sure about this.
Appops is not something I've used, but Android 7 allows you to modify permissions and I use a firewall AFwall+.
Greenify works completely fine without Xposed. I've been very happy with it.
Minmin.. AdAway does the job for me very well.
Rootcloack is similar to Magisk. You can get past safety net with it.
Xtouchwiz has no equivalent but there are many customizations baked into the ROM I use-Renovate. And I think Superman ROM has equally or more.
I'm sure others will have more alternatives!
Nougat on s7 edge really transforms the phone in all aspects. The UI is prettier, snapier, smoother, with more options. The whole experience of using the phone is improved by 100%.
As regards battery life, at least my Exynos variant, is much much better when it comes to battery. The doze mode works better, and in general I get fantastic SoT.
Maybe nougat is optimized currently for the Exynos processor...? and maybe in some further updates the nougat firmware will be improved for the SnapDragon variant models ?
I know it doesn't help at all saying it, but with Nougat I have significantly more battery life. I'm talking 1 to 2+ hours more! The other day I was watching a YouTube playlist after work and fell asleep. I woke up the next day to the phone still playing videos. Battery was at 2% and I had 10h and 6m of SoT. I have 100+ apps installed. Not rooted.

I never had problems get "hacked" either. But it is a fact that your rooted phone (and definitely with Xposed Framework) are more prone to attacks and other kind of malicious things, while bugs also happen far more. It's not even a debate you can have, as it's a well-known fact in the Android universe, which is also the reason many devs don't recommend or support it on their rom. The logcat is filled bugs, even though you don't see them, they're there and both slow down phone, drain battery and cause other problems and now or then bugs will happens that will be irritating like apps crashs.
We could just as well argue for the earth being round or flat, where you were on the flat side.
Hi everyone! As long as official oreo is out i'm really curious about comparing vs nougat about performance and battery life. What do you think about? it's better or worse?
As I said in other threads I feel a lot of difference in the life of the battery, with nougat I had at least 1: 30hs more of SOT. at the performance level there is no doubt that oreo is better than nougat
my battery lasts longer for the same use
other changes : https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s8-oreo-vs-nougat-side-by-side-screenshots/
BTW Another thing that I could notice is that now the iris scanner works perfectly with glasses
Iris scanner has improved alot in Oreo. The speed is blazing fast. On Nougat, I never used it 'cause it was a bit slow and buggy but on Oreo, I'm unlocking my phone with Iris, more than I do with the fingerprint.

Have you also noticed that the accuracy on Iris detection is much better even in complete darkness.
Also, Yeah I sometimes forget that there is a fingerprint sensor on this phone. I just wish there were more apps that we could use iris authentication, especially lastpass. (Currently that is limited to samsung pay and google tez)
Battery life is horrible on 4G but better on wifi, i dunno whats happening to my Android OS as it gets a lot of background usage and BBS doesnt show anything special except for kernel wakelocks. other than that good update

Nougart, lol.
But anyways, I'm still on the beta right now on my unlocked snapdragon but overall I like it better than Nougat. Seems a lot smoother/faster. Battery life seems to be a wash for me, though I honestly didn't pay as much attention to it on Nougat as I have been on Oreo so I can't really say for sure. Had to install Nova launcher cause I miss the app info in the app shortcut menu but honestly after using Nova for a while I should have been using it from the beginning anyways. Haven't had any real issues with it, some force closes with Injustice 2 but I'm not sure if it's the app or Oreo since the app has updated a few times since being on the beta and it last updated right around the same time the last beta released which is when the force closes started.

I'm reading this alot on the internet, even some friends say the same: the iris scanner is buggy/slow/useless.
From my experience the iris scanner on nougat is amazing, 9/10 times it dont even show the circels to center your eyes, even when its completely dark or when i wear poralized ray ban glasses. I always brag about the iris scanner towards my friends who own a iphone x which works way faster then their face id. Also my GF's name is Iris whichs is kinda funny haha.
So you guys telling us that its even alot better in oreo (which is btw my favorite cookie) hypes me up so badly
Unfortionatly i just read that the OTA's been pause because samsung found a bug and i have to wait a little longer

How do I do that? And of course, how do I check that my BL&modem are running on a low version?
I have the same problem too; great battery life in Wifi, but terrible at 4G.

check this thread it's written how to update
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/development/rom-googlewiz-oreo-extreme-debloat-t3750641
So, there has been released an A/B Partition supporting Pie GSI.
Anyone has installed it yet?
Bug list shows NFC, Hotspot and Android 9 Vendor.
What does the last one mean I have no idea. Some discussion would shed some light here.
I will try to install it today after returning home
Does anybody has installed the Pie GSI? How is it?
I has installed it but got no network , wifi and stuck on second reboot now to back to OOS

I wrote a little guide on Phh's thread on how to get networking, wifi and root to work. However, I would still stay away from it for now as it is extremely buggy.

But people says that HOS is very good in battery, the camera is worse than OOS camera
I am right now using Pixel Experience as daily driver. Unfortunately no magisk, hotspot, nfc, volte.
I've never seen a 10 hr SOT in other Rom. HOS is amazing!

Could you tell me what do you like/dislike in the ROM? Now that you're using do you recommend the ROM or what?

It's good for a daily driver, bro.
An issue is that I got frequent Volte drops which gets okay with a reboot.
And recent thumbnail corresponds to a different screen rather than The one which I have currently( I have no idea if you understood what I told)
Cons : no modifications yet I think, magisk modules , better mods and different kernel aren't readily there for P afaik.
That's the only thing I don't like about this.
Pros : substratum is working
Very stable and consistent battery life. (idk how it manages to give 8 hrs every single time)
And has every Android P features asusual ..
Peace?

The camera is better, equal or worse than the OOS? As far as I know the GCamera isn't working on HOS

Maybe I'll try Gcam and let you know If it works.
Do you see the difference between the screens? (I'm typing a comment whereas the recent shows that I'm in the menu)
Hope you can understand this.
PS : I can't live without AOD., so planning to flash the 5.1.11 ?.

I'm on HOS beta 2 too. Yes battery is really not bad when U use device, but on standby its draining a bit too much, I cant reach 8 hours SOT with more then 1 day after charge. But I can reach 8 hours SOT if im using the device constantly.
On OOS i had always 8-9hours of SOT, and 36 hours after charge.. but on OOS I was using elementaX kernel.
Plus hydrogen still in beta so it possible that they going to fix stanby battery a bit.
It dont have all the features of Pie. There is no:
1. App slices/app action
2. Feature when u can share images or copy text via app swicher (recent menu)

I think the second feature is only for pixel devices if I'm not wrong. I had a pixel and it had that feature in the first beta itself. And I did read somehwer that it's exclusive to pixels
Maybe you are right about the standby time. I've never let my phone pass 24 hours mark.
Maybe i am to stupid to flash any pie gsi. I tried many ways, and always end up in a bootloop or in the crashdump mode.
And yes both guides here in the op6 forum.
Tried all gsi out a/b partition. Tried without wiping data (one time worked but acore fc every ms)
So how does someone get it boot without a problem?

It would be a shame then if it only for pixel devices..
But here is possibility that oneplus didn't implemented yet this feature. I hope so
On Always on display option, I can't choose "Always" option. The only option is "10 seconds after always on display". So the screen turn off 10 seconds after I lock the screen... That's a bug ?
Xiaomi will fix it ?
Thank's for answer.
I think so, also in my wife's device same issue. hope they'll fix it soon
Yes ?
This, a thousand times this. It's the only thing that's really bothering me about this phone. I hoped things would change with MIUI 12 but it's all the same, I suspect Xiaomi is purposefully doing it to restrict the feature to their high end phones, which would be a real shame since the hardware is all there.
To disable miui optimization in developer options. Even though it is still 10 seconds, it still works.

I don't understand.
Are you telling me that by disabling "miui optimization" in developer options, we have the always-on display works for more than 10 seconds ?
Yes. It works.
Contrary to my expectations disabling MIUI optimization actually fixes this issue but I don't know the full extent of the other possible side effects caused by doing so

battery life 10hrs
Sent from my MATE 9 using XDA Labs
Well to my surprise this also works for the MI 10 lite 5g (monet).
I will have an eye on the (negative) side effects in the next days (battery life, crashes, etc).
Its really sad that there are no custom roms yet for this great device and we have to stick with miui with all its bugs and restrictions for now.
it´s kind of weird... I had the Redmi 9T and the AOD worked like I want to...with the time shedule in the evening, because on day with sunlight for me no point to have it on... it´s simple software related, the super wallpaper comes along with miui 12, which drains battery a good time, but anyway, seems we have to wait for updates or and genius modder works out to trigger this usefull feature

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Yes the display stays active, but the behavior of the whole phone gets really weird.
Apps were not executed correctly anymore, all permissions were resettet (wtf), battery life was obviously reduced and there were a lot of errors popping up, at least for me.

today i've tried phh-treble GSI, for the first time i've booted android 10 aosp on monet but there are some bugs on audio side
and switch off dual sim on stock android it's impossibile, this is very important for me, i'm back to miui for now :crying:
Hey guys
The reason why the mi 10 lite has just 10 seconds AOD (always on display) is, It also has an additional notification LED
This is so wanted by xiaomi, and its not a bug.
For example : Mi Note 10 lite doesn't have a notification LED... This device has an permanently AOD
I hope I could give a little bit clarity to this
Cheers
Yep very helpful thank you.
And @arko7123 you are telling us, that you already successfully built Android 10 AOSP for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5g but just had too many bugs? That would be some very good news for me
