PIN is required after every fingerprint unlock - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

And the locks reenter says "Locked By Admin". I'm on 8.1 beta 2. Anyone have any idea what us causing this?
I have Cerberus installed, maybe this is something new with Beta 2?

Seems to be something with Greenify causing this. I revoked it's device admin and now it's no longing happening.

Any app that turns off the screen with device admin privileges will do this when it activates turning off the screen. Greenify, tasker, Nova actions, etc.

Thanks for the clarification. I figured out that it was greenify. I revoked it's priveledge and it's not happening any longer. Odd thing is, it's never done it until 8.1 Beta 2

There's a way to configure greenify not to do it that way. Alternative screen off mode in settings. Not on 8.1 to test it though.

[Q] Anyone else cannot confirm OK with PackageInstaller ?

No idea if this is a ICS custom rom thing, but I remember it happened on stock as well.
When trying to install an .apk from sdcard (sideloading), I get the PackageInstaller confirmation window. Sometimes the right side where the OK button is, is non responsive (left side on Cancel can be clicked). After some trying, it works. Now, I have no idea what causes this, but it's ****ing annoying and seriously makes me want to throw the phone up the wall.
Anyone else noticed this ?
Did you enable installation from Unknown sources?

Um, yeah, the issue is in the Package Installer, I wouldn't even get to it, if I hadn't enable that.
That happens to me if I have the app Screen Filter enabled/on.

Hm, I've got Lux installed (manages lowest auto-brightness setting, because stock ICS is too dim). Perhaps that could be the issue. I'll try it out, thanks

I'm the developer of Lux. PackageInstaller shouldn't have any issues with Lux installed provided you haven't turned off 'compatibility mode' in settings.

Oh man, you're a genius. I've had this problem time and time again and always wondered what it could be. I've ran around the problem using a "silent" installer.

I tried uninstalling Lux and responsiveness was suddenly back, it recognized the touch everytime.
Compatibility is on -> screenshots
When I restored Lux back again, the responsiveness went back to nonconsistant, sometimes it works fine, mostly it ignores the touch.

Seems like some kind of Android protection to disable side loading lol, when an app with certain "screen manipulation" functionality is running

You might have to wait a couple of seconds before Lux disables itself. Lux needs to poll to check the current foreground app and disable itself. It polls every 3 seconds, unless it has detected the same app a few times in a row, in which it slows polling down to 9 seconds.

I see, maybe I was trying to hit the OK too fast, because now it seems that it works after waiting couple seconds. Thanks.

No problem. I wish there was a cleaner solution, but alas the Android API doesn't provide an intent which warns apps that a secure view is being shown.
Really Android should be drawing secure fields above everything else, rather than disabling the view - whoever thought that was a good idea isn't very intelligent.

Shouldn't it say "Root access granted"?
Dont suppose you use and updated gravity box without a reboot lately have you? I know that can change certain messages to be other text if a reboot hasn't occurred.

No I don't use gravity box. This isn't specific to faux clock. I just took a screenshot when it popped up. It pops up often no matter what app I'm using.

its a setting in an app that you have to disable. its your job to find which app is causing it, since you know what apps that you have installed.
Disabling notifications for FauxClock fixed this in my case

Pretty sure it was faux clock causing the popup. Maybe a bug in his new beta or the intelli ksm feature.

Interesting. I've been directed here as I have the same issue. Started yesterday. I am going to disable Fauxclock notifications and will report back.
Ah finally, I am getting this as well thanks for the heads up.
It's a beta feature Now FauxClock is out of beta, you should update to production version

easy home app

Anyone using easy home app and have experience with the pro version. For those who don't know the app turns you home key into a capacitive button rather then a physical button. I don't know for sure but I've read that it supports the N5, S6, S6E, and S6E+. I have also read about N4, and S5 users using it. I really like the app and it works well. I really missed my OnePlus 2 home button.

I'm not quite sure I understand. When I try to bypass my lockscreen with any other fingers then I have setup in the fingerprint settings it will not unlock and prompts me to enter a backup password. So I'm not sure if they have fixed thas issue but lockscreen fingerprint login and last pass fingerprint login seem to be working fine for me.

You are 100% wrong and shouldn't mislead other people. I've been using the app since it was posted a few months ago by @Jawomo it works exactly as it should. I've been using it everyday for months with my fingerprint unlock and have never had a failed unlock.

It was really hit or miss for me. I only tried it for a few minutes, but it felt like it didn't work 100% of the time. I'll give it another shot.

How do I bypass the pin lock when I use finger print scanner to unlock the screen?

I want to use fingerprint scanner without having to also input the pin code. Is this possible?
It is only when you reboot, and haven't seen a mod like that for the lat two phones.

Under security you can change it so you don't have to type pin in when you boot phone up

Screenshot? I don't see that option.. I don’t think he's referring to the bootup pin, it's the lockscreen pin once it has booted

Correct. I want to use the fingerprint security without having to use the pin.
It seems to me that the fingerprint scanner is rather useless if you still have to use your pin, or pattern.

This is only after a reboot, there you have to type your pin one time, I afterwards just the fingerprint.
For the complete use if fingerprint you have to wait for a custom rom that has is built in.
If also noticed that after a certain amount of time you have to type pin in I remember seeing it saying something along the lines of you could stop pin after reboot but I think that might have been the s8+ I don't have to type pin in if I turn off the u11
.
My fingerprint scanner works fine and I only need to use the pin on reboot.
I however also use Extended Controls and have a Lock button on there. When I use that I have to put in my pin with my fingerprint.
I think its something to do with the way the apps "lock" the phone as I believe other people with other phones have a similar issue as well.
When the phone locks itself or if I push the power button to lock it, fingerprint works fine by itself.

I now have that mod in my ROM
So, after reading a little more online, it appears that Android's unlocking with fingerprint only will NOT tolerate any other app input. I may have to give up on my beloved AC Display app, which would display notifications briefly. I also use Gravity Screen app, but it has a setting that (hopefully) makes it more compatible. I've never rooted a phone before, and I'm not thrilled with starting now, given the hassles of OTA updates, etc.
We'll see what happens . . .

Revoke admin right to nova launcher.
Also in nova advanced settings choose timeout lock instead of root method.

I know this but it take 5~10 seconds to really turn off screen because of Android security.
During these seconds... If you touch soft buttons screen turns on.
Very annoying

Yes, with this program it will take 5 seconds to fully turn off the screen.
...and I confirm you have to be careful with home and multitasking buttons, but with time you will get accustomed to.
This is the 1st smartphone I am keeping full stock (messing with them since HTC Windows mobile devices) and as of now this is the best program I have found...
I am missing long press home button to turn off the screen, like OnePlus devices

I started using this app yesterday, stuck my phone on the charger last night and woke up to a warm, unresponsive device. Hard reset got it working again Hadn't happened before, I'm wondering if it's possible this app was to blame?

If this is the case anyone know how I can undo whatever permissions I granted over adb to get everything back to stock? Like the look of immersive mode but not worth losing stability over.

I read in another thread that on the Pixel 2 immersive mode disables the assistant "squeeze" feature. I also had problems with the screen being black and unresponsive on wakeup. Hopefully these Pixel 2 quirks can be solved. I think the nav bar in 8.0 is buggy in general, sometimes the nav bar refuses to go away when videos are in full screen.
So how do I revert to stock?
