[EOL] SmartPack [kernel] project for LOS-14.1 based ROM [G901F] / [G906S/K/L] - Galaxy S 5 Android Development (Snapdragon)

/* Project is End of Life */
I am sorry to set this Project EOL. My device is broken and so i have no choice to develop and test this kernel in future.
If anyone wants to continue it - feel free to contact me if you need help.
/* Introduction */
I haven’t found any suitable kernel that supports Lineage-OS 14.1 (and likely other aosp nougat ROMs) for these variants of S5 though many custom kernels are available for many other devices with the same APQ8084 chipset (e.g.: shamu). So, I made one by simply picking a lot of good features from other existing APQ8084 kernels. All the credits go to many developers those create several kernels for this platform and eventually made my job very easy. Here I’m sharing the output of my work and hope you guys like this.
As i took over the maintenance of this kernel in a new thread, you can find the original thread here

Good job @wilmsn
& thank you for agreeing to maintain my project...

With the latest mokee nightly, kccat6 and v7 no wifi. Please fix it.
Best kernel respectively draining was v5r1.

Bad news today: My phone is dead, i am unable to recharge it. Think that the USB Board is demaged.
Do i find someone who will do the test on new builds for me?
If not i have to publish untested or stop building this kernel......

I have a g906s. V7 seemed to work well even with the problematic LOS 14.1 Dec. 7 build although I didn't test wifi. I didn't dare flash V7 on the latest LOS build being that it's two versions behind now.
What do you need? I could test a new build if you're willing to push another one out; I'm running LOS 14.1, the latest build (12.14). I'd need a list and some guidance unless a basic "it works" or "x is broken / not working" will suffice. (I wish I knew how to compile a kernel but have zero coding skills.)
Thanks for taking this over from @sunilpaulmathew.

New version V7.12
December version is out.
Commit are included from LOS until 16.12.2017

v.7.12 works perfectly with MK71.2-kccat6-171215-RELEASE. Especially Wifi has returned. Too early for judging battery life. Thanks a lot.

SmartPack-Kernel-lentislte-stable-v7.12-20171217 on LOS 14.1 (12.14 build). MTP for file transfer seems broken in windows 10; without smartpack it worked fine. I noticed the same problem with V7 as well.

With Mokee MTP is not broken. I have more battery drain than with v.5r1. which is not compatible to LOS based roms since 12/07/17.

I have a suggestion for the next version: you could add overclocking. The previous developer of this kernel wanted to add it, too. It was written in his future features list, but it seems not being included anymore in your new list.

WiFi is Broken, Again. S5 Plus
On latest LineageOS/RR OS, WiFi is broken. It was working on previous LOS build but now on latest build, its gone. Please fix soon.

New Version V8.03 (untested!!!!)
I just published a new but untested version. Synced with LOS sources until today.
As my device is broken i have no chance to test it - so please be carefull and make a backup before using it.
Links to download in OP.
Have fun Norbert

Did anyone test this version with April version of LOS?

Yes it works but the soundcontrol are not.

I can look into it, I have the source code from the AGNI kernel here so hopefully it's just a matter of picking out the code and inserting it into my kernel.
Another thing I want to look into soon is LinageOS support, since I see it's available on this device.

Along with that, can you add setns support for the mount namespace and Navigation bar option in Settings > Buttons (like on LOS 13), rework the device and kernel tree, unify the device tree and add improvements to it from @no_name's LOS 14.1 device tree (Link: https://github.com/ishantvivek/android_device_samsung_kyleproxx)?

U are a little bit crazy :laugh::laugh:
Why dont you fork the united tree from @no_name ( It is united tree of kyleproxx , you can build ROM for both dev just from that tree )
And kernel reworked too ( There is also oreo kernel on it , but i dont think it is stable yet as some missed android binder commit , can you do it ? )
If u cant find the united device tree and reworked kernel , link here :
United device tree : https://github.com/ishantvivek/android_device_samsung_kyleproxx
Reworked kernel : https://github.com/ishantvivek/android_kernel_samsung_kyleproxx
Vendor new ( for united device tree , cm 14.1 branch ) : https://github.com/ishantvivek/android_vendor_samsung_kyleproxx/tree/cm-14.1
And it is great if u can help us to bring up the patches for oreo on kyleproxx ..
And cherry pick android binder commit from here to o branch in here ( remember to fork it and edit on your github , not make pull request on his github )
@unknown okay, I took a look, but I'm not sure I can bring the commits, firstly this hasn't been properly tested (ishantvivek doesn't build 12.1). Secondly I insist upon extreme stability, I can't risk the stability of the device. I intend to produce a ROM as stable as the Samsung original one (newest version doesn't matter). Thirdly, I plan to limit changes to a minimum (I plan to look on https://cnet.com/security and whenever something really really major appears to fix it) in order to ensure absolute stability.

[CLOSED][Kernel][8.1][Non-Treble] NotOmani Kernul

<Mod Edit>
Thread closed by OP request.
Hi all,
I am a new guy in this development world and just started working on this kernel, as i am learning these things there won't be much features available as of now, i'll add everything slowly and only necessary things which doesn't break stability will be added.
This isn't just another kernel, it's built from latest omni kernel sources(ofc with my additions), it's already rock stable and doesn't break anything.
Don't expect legendary battery life and blazing fast performance from this kernel, this is not the kernel you're looking for then, it's just an "enhanced stock" kernel from my point of view :}
Code:
/*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this KERNEL
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
Features:
Sound control
Boeffla wakelock driver
Upstream 3.18.114
Added Qnovo charging interface
Added Intellithermal
Powered by Anykernel2
Installation:
Flash using your favorite recovery(TWRP, Redwolf, etc.)
If you're coming from another kernel, you need to flash stock boot.img first, updates can be flashed directly.

Hey Peeps,
Just a little announcement:
r2 is released, check OP for links.
I have now very little time to work on my kernel, so expect slower updates.
Also i am planning to release 2 versions from now on, one will be minimal and other one will be feature packed so you can choose according to your requirements.
And maybe I'm thinking to change the name, just maybe, who knows.
My to-do list:
* Add treble support (5oon)
works good with omni roms.
I'm waiting for the treble version
Nice name for kernul xD
Project Closed
Hey guys,
Sorry to say but this project is closed now,
Reason: We have many kernels available with the same features and we don't need another one with the same features.
But
I'll be updating the kernel with the latest upstream + caf and will open a new thread for the same, it won't have any added features, just upstream.
Thank you
