Hi guys... thanks in advance for trying to make sense of this mess.
Some background info.
So I got this unlocked TMobile S8+ from craigslist that was advertised as an S8 and came in an S8 original box. 1st weird thing.
I did check the basic things (connector, camera FP reader location, etc...)to make sure it was not a fake.
The model # in the about phone page is SM-G955U but Antutu and other checkers show it as a SM-G955F
Long story short...
Due to some other weird issue with storage availability, I decided to give it a try and flash the AT&T stock rom hoping it would fix the storage issue, but when I try to go into downloading mode (vol down + bixby +power) it goes into "factory mode" rather than downloading mode....
If you know what the heck it is going on with this phone, ANY help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!!

Unfortunately the phone is fake

Damn.... I had some hope that was not the case....
Any way to confirm this? any app or way to read and find about this...
Every other app I installed to check for it says the phone is a Samsung G955F
Can you expand a little bit more on what is a MediaTek fake? what would be the equivalent of the Samsung? how are they different?
What is the best course of action, given that there is no returning this crap...

I was just thinking of something.... how could a fake pass as a samsung SM-G955F on the Genuine Galaxy app?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyYErbgw0nI
Your Antutu screenshot shows your screen has a 1080 x 2008 resolution? Should be 1440 x 2960.
Android (32bit)? Should be 64bit.
Mali 400 GPU? Should be Mali-G71 MP20.
Even you recovery mode is not correct, that is the MediaTek recovery mode. MediaTek is a cloners favorite SoC because they are so cheap.
This is what it should look like. You got a clone

An obvious clone, those big bezels should be a dead giveaway, it's also running a security patch from almost two years ago...

I would think they would have to go that way, since the Atrix is running 16 internal, 1GB RAM and capability for 32GB microSD. What I'm hoping for in this device is something of an "Atrix as it should have been" kind of device. The various rumors have it as having Gingerbread 2.3.4 installed. Was that the case on this device? I'm hoping they rework the exterior (including a kickstand) and go with Gorilla glass for the screen in the production versions. Did you look at the battery yet, as to capacity? I guess basically what I'm hoping for is something like a Thunderbolt or Sensation on steroids as far as features and performance go. I eagerly await your further impressions on this device.
Quick question, Will there be an GSM version of the Photon Q LTE? with removable SIM?
I'm talking about a different variant
the codename for the photon q is the asanti_c, there is a lot of reason to believe a gsm friendly version will come out that will be called just the asanti.

Correct.
It is codename Asanti and the model is XT898. Right now I know it will be for AT&T, but usually you can get an unlock codes for other carriers.
Code:
_._._.XT898-continuous.ATT.en.US
_._._.XT898.ATT.en.US
Great, let's hope other variants will have an unlocked bootloader

As long as the carrier allows them it should. Seeing as AT&T is the reason behind the Atrix HD not being unlocked, (hardware/software support it, just not the Unlock My Device page), I'd say the chance is slim.
There should be international version of the phone, from what I know (I don't know about AT&T version).
There should be one if only for the fact that this is the first high end QWERTY device I have seen in ages

I fixed that bug the day I got my glide, just replaced the APK from the one on OsiMood, and we already have an ICS Update, you have to plug your phone on a PC, start Kies, and search for updates.
I donĀ“t want to be disrespectful, but judging by your answer, I think that Angry Birds may be a little too complicate for your mental capacity, maybe you should try Pong, more apropiated for someone of your generation.

Very sad that it was cancelled. I used a GSM phone overseas (Captivate Glide), and it is silly that I need to use a different phone when home on Sprint.
I've been searching around this thing called the internet for an answer but I can't seem to find an answer as to if/when we're getting the S5 Prime on Sprint. Anyone know the details?

That's because no one knows and it hasn't even been made official although everyone knows it's happening. My guess is, is that it might not even be available in the US.
There's a post on Sammobile saying there will be "limited quantities" of it due to production costs of the 2K display.
I'd buy it again..
Buy a new device whenever you need/want it because waiting for the next great device will never work by the time that device comes out the next great thing will again be on the horizon and the cycle continues..
Oh I've been through the cycle and back. Lol. Good to know that the reports are vague at best. The last thing I want to do is use my upgrade now and then find out that a better version of the phone is coming out in 2 weeks.

That's how it usually happens... I hate that **** too
The answer is simple, if you think you will want what's in the ''prime" more then the reg s5 what's waiting another Month or so? If the s5 is good for what you want, then why wait?
I hate to say it, but ive never been more disappointed with a phone than with my s5. Battery isn't that good compared to my g2, it's slower than my s4 as far as unlocking and opening the camera, the fingerprint scanner is garbage for unlocking the phone. The camera is great in bright and dark situations but lower light it sucks. I do however like the look and feel, which is weird because most people talk about how much they hate it. Also why hasn't samsung implemented auto-input in the keyboard, it's 2014.

I am having this issue since day one. I bought the Nexus primarily for testing out the developer preview. I flashed to it, everything worked fine. But as soon as I entered my sim and restarted, phone turns it's radio off and displays "Please turn off Airplane mode to place a call" when dialing a number and displays no service.
Also through the code "*#*#4636#*#*", I noticed I couldn't turn on the radio through the "Turn On Radio" button. Whenever I press it, nothing happens.
If someone can help with this, then that be great!

Sorry, I should have mentioned in the OP, I have tried every factory image available for the Nexus 5. Nothing changes. Even tried relocking the bootloader and unlocking it. No clue what is wrong. :-/
Very strange... Do you have another SIM card to try? Not sure if it would make a difference, but it's worth a shot.
Edit: Haha I thought I was the only one crazy enough to consider getting a Nexus 5 just for the Dev preview XD
I didn't go through with it though.

No RMA. I would recommend you wait for the final release. I don't wanna blame Google neither I am sure but I think Android L messed up my Radio in the first place. So yeah, wait for release and try to see if the final one has it all sorted.

Safe to say it is not missing there was a discussion few years back on exactly the same question
What's running services show in Developer options? It should add up... unless Android 12 has some more new lame tricks.

Don't these have a new kind of ram management? It doesn't apply to me so it's a passing curiosity at this point. You may be able to alter its settings. There are indications it doesn't work that well under heavy ram usage but I may be mistaken.
Either way I don't like changes like this... Gookill has always been a progressive mess that can't leave well enough alone. Invariably Google will keep "improving" a product until they break it.
The concepts of conservatism and pragmatism aren't within their intellectual comprehension or company policies

my guess, and thats all it is, is its reserved for gpu to access or something, maybe the game booster app in my mods/apps/links thread makes use of the 1gb ram not showing

Virtual ram, ah there it... isn't.
This is apparently Samsung's fail... this may not work so well... you may want to play with the settings.
I have serious doubts the hardware architecture can effectively support the bandwidth for effective virtual memory vs pure ram memory.
One bottleneck later... the 3yo N10+ is whipping the S22U to a pulp once the ram fills up (see 2nd link).
Why not just slam 16gb of ram into this puppy instead Sammy? As much as a battery hog as it is already this would have had a negligible impact on power consumption. Sammy skimped on expandable storage capacity (cheap) and ram (not as cheap). No wonder Samsung doesn't like the term power user anymore or the actual power users themselves... it's cheaper not to cater to them. I guess... but if you don't rock it, somebody will
