Hi All,
I am planning to connect an external DVR camera (specific for my car) which is not USB. Camera can be powered through OBD or directly from the fuse box.
The connection to the camera is done through WiFi OR through video cable with reduced resolution (due to limitation of video connection) and has all the options needed from DVR (auto record, loop etc).
My questions to the gurus
If the camera is connected through WiFi then what will happen with the tethering connection for Data access (internet) ?
Is it possible to have both WiFi connections connected at the same time ?
Can i use any DVR application with the camera?
Thanks

1) Hard to tell what will happen to the internet connection without knowing how the camera connects/uses the wi-fi.
2) Depends on #1. You can't have the radio connected to two wi-fi servers. You can't have the radio connected to wi-fi and act as a hot spot.
3) The built-in DVR only supports the USB connected camera. No 3rd party DVR software seems to function on the units.
You should be able to connect the (RCA) video cable to one of the radio RCA Video inputs and view it through one of the internal apps (video-in, F-Cam) etc, however, you will not receive any additional DVR type functionality from the MTCD unit.
Hope this helps.

Ok here goes,
Is there Any way i can use a wi-fi camera
(webcam sized preferably with night vision) which i can use for surveillance and stream the live video directly onto my android phone without any intermediaries like routers and internet and stuff....
any apps out there that can do it, kind of like the web cam is on tether mode which makes it a hotspot (secured ofcourse) and we use our phone application to connect on to it, and get the live video
just a direct connection from the wi-fi cam to my phone, Thats it
Is it possible,
If no what are the other ways i can get around it
Thanks
I have an Ethernet / Wireless IP Camera. It works on my home network without any issues. But I would like to connect with it directly from my Razr.
When it is on my home network and I'm accessing the control panel then the camera's configuration panel will detect and connect to my Razr running FoxFi. But I don't know how to access the camera to view it. Going to the camera application doesn't do it.
I have IP camera software on my Razr, including the camera viewer that came with the camera. I have FoxFi that I can use. I have the USB Host Ethernet cable that I can use. But I have no clue how I can wirelessly connect directly to the camera.
Any help in getting connected would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
Never mind. I got it figured out. In case anyone else is looking for a similar solution, here are the steps:
Connect the camera to the home network via Ethernet.
Note: If a port other than 80 is used then it will need to be remembered and specified on the phone.
Configure the camera with the SSID and password for the FoxFi hotspot.
Disconnect the Ethernet from the camera.
On the phone, start FoxFi.
Wait a moment for the camera to connect.
Once connected FoxFi will display the IP assigned to the camera.
Open whatever viewing application you wish and configure the camera.
Alternatively, it can be viewed through a browser.
I'm typing this just after connecting, so I haven't learned if there are any shortcuts when disconnecting and reconnecting later, or if there are any pecularities with the process. I may also experiment later with streaming through a Rasperry Pi, which would bypass using the phone as the hotspot. But this should get someone going.
Hi,
Recently I purchased LG 360 cam, and I have a few questions about it that I can’t seem to find the answer for.
1) The camera connects to a smartphone via Wi-Fi. But why Bluetooth needs to be turned on too?
2) Once I established the connection with phone and camera, I can’t seem to use any data connection (both home wi-fi network and cellular network), is that normal?
Would appreciate if anyone can help out a noob here.
Thanks
I have the 360 camera as well. I think it uses wifi to live stream what the camera captures and also do data transfer between the two. Bluetooth I'm guessing is more like for the camera actions. Snap photo video and what not. Haven't figured out yet if there's a way to keep data accessible while using the cam. That would only be possible if the phone could simultaneously use wifi and your carriers network at the same time. Which I don't think it's possible.
Hi,
First, I would Iike to thank you for the creation of this forum and the helpful organisation of it.
Now my two small issues:
I've a Nexus 7 2013 in my car's dashboard. I've connected my phone (for tethering and Make phone calls via tablet) to it via Bluetooth.
Now I've a backup camera that connects via Wi-Fi to my tablet. The problem here is that the camera is not connected to Internet, so my Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping as android don't like to keep connected to connections without internet. Without root, is there any way to solve this? Android asks me if I want to keep connected to this Wi-Fi, even without internet, which I confirm and tick the box to don't ask again, but it keeps asking.
When I manage to connect to Wi-Fi, for some reason I loose Internet connection via Bluetooth, as android seems to give preference to the backup camera Wi-Fi. Is there any way to force the Internet connection via Bluetooth only?
Thank you so much
Andre

I am trying to watch live video from a camera that its only output is ethernet, while also still being able to have cell service. I am able to successfully see the feed on my S20, by using a ethernet to USB-C adapter, but right after I plug it in I lose cell service. I understand why this is happening because my phone thinks I am just trying to connect to the internet using the ethernet connection but in this case I am not. I am wondering if there is a way to get both, the video from the ethernet connection, and have connection to the internet (preferably with cell service from my provider) so I can do other things on my phone at the same time.
Try changing the USB settings in Developer options.
Or maybe this...
