Hello, everyone. I have decided to make this Recommend-An-App thread so that YOU can share your favorite apps with everyone in this community.
But there is one condition. NO SUPER POPULAR APPS.
Don't post apps like PowerAMP and Flipboard and Swiftkey. EVERYONE knows about these apps.
The purpose of this thread is to make everyone aware of new apps which are largely unheard of. Apps which are not so popular. I was too tired of seeing numerous lists full of apps I already knew about.
So everyone, start posting! A brief summary would be appreciated (Unless the name is self-explanatory) as well as a PlayStore link (we all are too lazy to search for ourselves)
I will try to keep this list as up-to-date as possible.
So, here's my list (You probably would've heard of some of these, but I guarantee, not all of them ) -
1) Atom Launcher- A great launcher with many options for customization while maintaining a minimalistic look. I personally recommend Typo Black Theme to go along with it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dlto.atom.launcher&hl=en
Typo Black Theme- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...uYXRvbS50aGVtZS5OYW11U01vZGVyblR5cG9CbGFjayJd
2) WordWeb - In my opinion, THE best dictionary out there. Why? Because its offline. Doesn't require an internet connection!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...3b3Jkd2Vic29mdHdhcmUuYW5kcm9pZC53b3Jkd2ViIl0.
3) Wallbase - I've tried 'em all and nothing has helped me find better wallpapers than this app. And most of them are full HD.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jaXRjLndhbGxiYXNlIl0.
4) LyricsPlayer - This app shows a notification on the status bar when you're playing music, clicking on it automatically searches for the lyrics and displays them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS5jYXJsb3NnczkxLmx5cmljc3BsYXllciJd
5) Holo Compass - The most minimalistic and cool looking compass around.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.surix.holo.compass&feature=search_result
6) Circle Alarm - A holo themed and minimalistic alarm app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50amVhbm5pbi5hbGFybSJd
Here's another - AlarmQuick https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.kinst.jakub.alarmquick
7) Node- Just a super cool live wallpaper
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zdWZmaWNrLm5vZGUiXQ..
8) Pimp My Music - This is great for fixing up the ID3 tags in your songs and for finding all the right cover art.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImF1LmNvbS5waWNrdXAucG1tIl0.
9) T.E.A.M. Battery Bar - This displays a coloured bar on top of the status bar showing the battery level (remember MIUI?). A must have for me.
https://p lay.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.batterybar&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuYmF0dGVyeWJhciJd

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...vbS5kcmlua2RyYW5rd2FzdGVkLmFuZHJvaWQuY3Z0Il0.
12) Phone Addict - This great little app counts how many times I check my phone. Over a period of time, shows the day I checked my phone the most times, the least times, and how often I check on average.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wYW5kdXRlY2hub2xvZ3kucGhvbmVhZGRpY3RmcmVlIl0.
13) Llama - For me this app is a MUST HAVE. I'll explain how it works. Basically, when you're at home or at work, your phone is getting signal from multiple cellphone towers nearby. What this app does is remember these towers and triggers certain profiles when they are in the vicinity. So, when I reach home, my phone automatically turns silent and when none of these towers are in range i.e. when I'm outside, it automatically increases the ring volume. You'll have to let it scan once, of course.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rZWJhYi5MbGFtYSJd
14) Godville - This is a super simple game. You are God and you create your hero and lead him on quests etc. Superb time-killer.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...vbS5yai5wcm9jZXNzaW5nLnBsYXNtYXNvdW5kaGQiXQ..
16) Sensor Music Player - A music player which lets you use various sensors to change track, pause etc. For example, if I'm using my headphones and my phone is in my pocket, I can just tap my pocket to change the track. Pretty cool. eh?

I uploaded Multi-Watch to the Samsung apps store.
Make sure you use the Samsungs Apps from within the Gear Manager to find this app.
Update (30-07-2014): Latest version available: version 2.4
This is a demo video for version 2.3 which is pretty much the same as the latest version.
VERSION 2.4.0:
Build your own watch with the Multi-Watch!
Multi-Watch is not a single watch face, but any watch face you like.
Put the Watch in "Edit-mode" by clicking in the center of the watch, return to "User-mode" by clicking again in the center.
You can change various properties of the watch by selecting one of the edit buttons, or select a complete Watch Theme from your Downloads directory.
Touch a button area multiple times to get a different result, like different color or larger font depending on the property you are editing.
Make a slide-up gesture on the watch face to go to your list of favorite apps.
These are the Edit options for your Multi-Watch:
================================================
- complete theme selection (find your theme files on gearfaces.com)
- any (watch) background from the gallery
- numbers (normal/roman) or dots in a circle

- Bottom right: Select Hourly chime from list (time period selectable)
- Bottom middle: set RGBa color for watch hands
- Bottom left: Select WsTheme from Downloads dir (same as screen 1)

- Area around the center: fine-tuning position for theme
Edit-Mode (screen 3):
=====================
- Center: switch off Edit-mode
- Set apps to launch after slide-up gesture
Loading Theme file:
===================
- download your .wstheme files from gearfaces.com
- connect your gear2 to your computer with a usb cable
- copy the .wstheme files to the "Downloads" directory on your Gear2 device
- select the theme from Multi-Watch with the Bottom-Left touch button in Edit-Mode
Notes form the developer:
========================
> .wstheme files (for loading themes), can be found on gearfaces.com
> Digital WsThemes are now also supported.
> Loading and saving of watch configuration upto 30 slots
> This version is prepared for loading themes directly from the Multi-Watch phone app.
> If you find a watch not looking as is should, please contact me.
You can find the android app to download wstheme files directly from your phone in the Google Play Store.

It is a watch which you can edit/configure on the gear2 itself.
You can change the background, hands type and color, digital time on/off ampm or 24h, battery indicator on/off.
You can also select a background from the gallery on the gear2.
Nice free background images can be found on gearfaces.com
The app is currently "Under device test" by Samsung, might take a few days to become publicly available.
Here is a preview video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdo9JBPInIk
Put the Multi-Watch in "Edit-mode" by clicking in the center of the watch, return to "User-mode" by clicking again in the center.
Edit-Mode:
=======
Center: switch on/off Edit-mode
Top left corner: select image from Gallery
Top middle: set dots or number in a circle on the screen
Top right corner: am/pm or 24h time format
Right middle: date on/off and position
Bottom Right: position of digital time
Bottom middle: select a build-in watch face
Bottom left: Select hands type/color

Please wait for the official version.
Even if I wanted, technically it is not possible to post a working development version here I think.
The watch (wgt file) needs to be signed with a Samsung developer certificate that is bound to my own gear2 device. It would give a certificate error on other devices.
Samsung does this to protect developers, so that their development versions of apps can't be distributed.
Wgt that do not use special priviliges, don't need to be signed with a samsung developer certificate, these can be used by others too, that are basic WebKit apps, like some of the watches posted here.
You probably have already seen privilege errors trying to install some of the demo apps...that's because you need a samsung developer certificate (public type) to build/sign these.
It's bedtime over here, I'll read your comments and wishes(!) tomorrow.
Thanks for all the positive reactions so far.
Is it possible to load your own clock hands aswell??
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
he never said it was going to cost did he ? lol , maybe a free time trial for xda members heh ?
but yes if all works out defiantly worth supporting.
I have a feeling that Samsung won't release it. I don't know why....but I just have a feeling that they are gonna be pricks about letting ppl customize our own devices...

if its a possibility that they wont allow is , isn't it possible to just share the wgt file , from this thread we have a few we can share and load on eachothers watches and they work fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734747
page 2 post #18 and instructions on op
but you know more about the developers and settings more then me , but just wondering
This looks sweet. You need any beta testers ?

Is it possible to use your own designs or do you have to use works created by others from the original gear one watch styler themes? (see images below)
Ps. it's customary and polite to credit the original authors when you use work that is not your own... Just sayin'.

If I read correctly you would choose images in your gear2 gallery to use. He only listed gearfaces.com as a source for background images.

No he says that the author used images not created by him. And that Gearfaces can be used for the backgrounds, but Im the owner of GF and I need to ask every designer his permission to use their backgrounds for this.
Their not our creations and these designers spent tons of time on some of them. So I think its fair to give the proper people credits at least, or maybe even ask their permission. As he wants to ask money for this app with someone elses work.

wanted to start a list of favorite gear apps. i have found several that are pretty awesome and would like to share my list and experiences. i invite all to do likewise! :good:
* Battery Gear : very simple app, just shows phone battery as a single icon. i like it, havent tried other similar apps however.
* Flesky messenger: amazing; turns the watch into nearly a full blown phone! keyboard is very intuitive.
* LaunchGear : neat app that can launch phone apps from the gear. its free, you populate the list of the apps you want to be able to launch. very easy operation and interface
* wrist list : what it sounds like; a shopping list for the gear. add items to the phone, its on the gear. app is ok, you can only add or delete; doesnt seem like you can make a "constant" list and add what you need from the main list to your current shopping list
Flashlight ++ : app is fine. just picks a color (of your choice) and makes the screen that color.
* car finder for gear: neat app. set a waypoint in a parking lot, when you look for your car you get a tiny submarine style radar with a car icon indicating the direction and a distance to the waypoint. fairly accurate.
i have a pile of others, but i have not tested many of them, and some are basic or games, like tick tack toe, fairly self explanatory there. lol.
so what do you have and why! what makes that app cool or lame!
Instant Settings - its free. you can change the settings on your phone from your watch. can leave the phone in my pocket more.
Smart IR Remote Lite - free - multi media remote for your watch. better then Watch on. more buttons. havent played with it too much, but so far so good.
Wrist List is kinda cool. You use your phone to make a grocery list and you can delete things off the list on your watch as you buy them. Also has an account sync feature, allowing other people in your family or house to add or remove things with their phones even with no watch. I bought the Toggles app because it has the wifi-hotspot toggle that the stock settings app didnt have. The Get Up! Alarm app is nice when you have to get up and are worried about waking up your significant other, It vibrates to wake you up and gives you the option to swipe down, walk, or run, in order to turn the alarm off.
JusWrite
Was looking for a Note/list app, but which can handle longer texts. This one is the best. The only 2 problems it has, is not be able to check items from the watch. And second no formatting of text possible through the main app. New lines are not handled correctly. But ALL apps does this wrong, while the solution is simple. Just add <br /> and a new line break is added. Add <b> </b> and the text become bold.
AppLauncher
Quick, and sorting apps to launch on the phone. Use this for Tasker.
Wearable Widget
Any widget from the phone on your watch.
Multi Watch
Popular.
Alarm
Multiple alarms locally.
Navigation Clock
Integrated with Google Maps Navigation on my watch. Just miss a vibration when a turn comes up.
Flesky messenger.. Nothing needed to add
Wearable Widget
Watch Out
I don't use my watch for everything. For example, navigation. Just alot easier to pull my phone out and look. Same with photos. Screens too small anyway. But I'd LOVE to see S-Health put up a real weight lifting or rowing widget! Something that will accurately count reps instead of just time your effort. Thats nothing! I can already time it! What I would use is a rep counter!
Or how about something like Google Reminders? Something where I can set a reminder separate from my calendar by voice from my watch. Pebble has a couple apps that do that! If Pebble can why can't my S2? I have S-Voice but, frankly, that doesn't do the job.
Anyone else have a wish list?
Maybe the next update will help. According to this thread it will add the following (translated from the Turkish; I don't know what "sauce desires" are either):
1. Running, Walking, Biking Repetition detection: Squat, Move, Shuttle, X-shaped bounce Speed ??coaching Running Snooze tutorial: Stay tuned up for 2 hours.
2. Upgraded Gear software Increased activity detection: Exercise bike, Rowing machine, Dynamic training Automatic pause and resume Improved rotating bezel interface Incoming call, Alarm, Scheduler and Program control
3. Added new messaging options Handwritten Text recognition (supports Korean, English, Chinese) Record and send voicemail Create picture message banner More emoji
4. optimized widget Lar Multi-user widget Weather widget Includes life index information Scoreboard and Mirrors widget Added 3rd party widget support
5. Added position-tracking feature for sauce desires
6. New preloaded clock from Gear S3
7. Support new applications: Reminder and Six-Barometer (Download from Galaxy Apps)
8. Support new game applications including Monster Vampire (Download from Galaxy Apps)

Well, like they say in Missouri - show me! Sobfar I'm 90% happy with the watch so this would be cool... IF repetitions are counted.
I just got an S2 yesterday after a couple years of Android Wear, and I think the biggest thing that I am still looking for is a watchface/app like Andoroid Wear's InstaWeather. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.byss.instaweather.watchface&hl=en
With Instaweather I was able to set what weather data I wanted to see on both the active and ambient screens. The best feature was the customizable weather forecast. I could give that up though if I could find a watchface that will show wind speed at a selected station in semi real time.
Are there watch faces that allow you to pinpoint a certain weather station and just show the data you select?
On Watchmaker on android I was able to create my own watch face that showed wind speed and temp from a selected weather station, but it appears that Watchmaker isn't yet available for Tizen, but may be coming soon.
Thanks
Use WatchMaker - https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/106982503578105386202
Thanks! I didn't realize it was available for tizen yet, but it is!
Update- Looks like it takes sideloading the watch app while the review process takes place. I think I'll just wait until it is on the Samsung store, but I can get started on making my watchface at least
