Anyone else pre-ordered?
Just pre ordered mine, 10% for those who pre order before the 27th November, making it £629 which is a good price. Although you can buy them from the bay for £600 imported.
Still no word on release date just says December which is a bit annoying.
Also noticed its a dual sim phone (2nd sim tray used for sd card or sim) which is a nice added bonus, anyone else have some experience of how this works with HTC phones (i.e. can I use both sims at the same time for calls/texts?)
I've placed my preorder, has anyone had experience with HTC after sales support? It's either the U11+ or 2 XL for me and whilst I know the latter phone has had plenty of issues, I'm actually pretty happy with mine and am a stock/google fan anyway. Google have very good support whenever issues have come up; I've RMA'd a OG Pixel and Pixel C with no issue but am worried about buying from HTC directly. If it was via and fulfilled by Amazon I'd have no hesitation.

I've never had to use them (and have had several htcs) but I've heard some mixed reviews, some so they were really good and just swopped out the phone others have had issues.
You were in the same boat as me, but in the end the extra £300 for the 128gb pixel 2 xl wasn't worth it for me, the only big difference would be the software. I would love stock android but cant justify the price. I'm hoping something will be ported over but I doubt there will be much support for this device considering the very strange release strategy from HTC and not many people getting it.

Thanks for the reply! It's the bigger battery that's the main draw for me given my usage, though the £170 saving and dual SIM support are really nice bonuses too.
I'm hoping I'll be satisfied putting the ported Pixel Launcher on the phone, though how good is HTC with updates? I don't mind being behind Google but would hope for two years for major/flagship phones

Yer cant moan at the battery.
HTC aren't too bad with updates, for example Android 8.0 has just started rolling out to the htc u11 these past week or so. I would say they are on par with every other major OEM, but obviously not as good as google.
Ordered.. Shame no set date though At least apple launches have proper dates

its the same site I believe? i.e. when you go to the uk site it then takes you to the eu store. Does for me anyway! confirmation email should be from [email protected]
Actually I have to pick Ireland in the country selector to the bottom left of the page and then, when trying to login to HTC club, it gives me two options. Ireland or Rest of Europe.

Strange, I'm pretty sure HTC will only have 1 warehouse doing the whole of Europe so hopefully shouldn't matter will still get the same time.
I hope we get the same time. I suppose the reason for the changes has to do with other reasons, like differences in charger plug etc.?

I'm from UK but I live in China and I preordered the translucent black variant of the phone here on the day it was announced, 02nd November. It was shipped out on 21st Nov and I received it today. I'll be posting pictures soon - just need some more posts here on XDA before I can post links!
So I'm not sure if it will be the same for Europe but here I received it exactly three weeks after preorder. Also the date on the back of the box says the phone was manufactured on 11/11/2017.

HTC China ship all of their products with one courier called SF Express. HTC shipped it at 5pm on 21st Nov with express delivery and I had it at 8am on 23rd Nov. Apparently HTC began manufacturing the translucent black variants here in China on 11th November and mine was sent out 10 days later from that date. Mine was, however, manufactured on 11th Nov.
Made my order on Monday too as I think current device meet my expectations and my needs more than anything else out there and would be successor of my ZTE Axon 7.
Hope being dispatched within first 10 days of December.

For some reason they decided to send the confirmation email to the paypal email address and not to the email that you used when you signed up at htc...

A lot of people outside of China have been waiting for any news of the FDD LTE version of the MI4 to be announced. We are one step closer, it appears that it has been spotted at TENAA, which is Chinas Telecommunications Equipment Certification Service.
This means that it will most likely be available soon although, no official date just yet :good:

Stilllllll waiting lol. I've actually cancelled my upgrade and changed my 3uk plan waiting for this beauty..... Must say I've been very tempted to get the huawei honor 6 but in gonna need someone with knowledge to assist my every need lol and that's where @22sl22 is gonna step in !!!

I can help with that too, I've looked through all of those devices before I finally settled for the Mi4. Oh and I'm not regretting that decision one bit, the screen and the battery life are enough for me to buy it again.

I'm just about to change my phone for something new. My best shot is Xiaomi Mi4. Now tricky question is: is there any alternative for that phone? My requirements are :
- around 5" screen size
- good camera with image stabilization
- internal 64 gb or SD card slot
- European LTE baseband FDD-LTE(?)
- non-plastic case would be nice

Why would you cancel your 3UK plan? They do free 4G upgrades and it'd unlimited :good:
Just remember I charge, and my prices just went up :laugh:

I've not cancelled the plan I've cancelled the upgrade. Reason is because i bought my n4 separate and sold my last upgrade ( sgs2 ).
Now my upgrade is due, the phones they offer me for my price plan are an upgrade to the sgs2 but not worthy of an upgrade against the n4 so i decided to lower my monthly costs and get a sim only kind of deal on a monthly rolling contract. I still get unlimited data and plenty of call and text allowance and when i get a 4g enabled phone i get free 4g included.
I also get a further discount for being a loyal long time customer
I don't think i will ever leave 3 as i have never had 1 issue with the service.
P.s i missed that last part about charging !! I think Google translate is acting up again mwah hahaha [emoji83]

I preorderd from Samsung. I got a fedex notice today that a package requiring a signature was being delivered from Samsung's warehouse and is confirmed for delivery on Saturday! Mine sayd it's a 1.0 lb package. No word from Samsung and my order status still shows "preorder". They haven't charged my card yet either, so I'm guessing it's the AKG headphones and memory card.

Yea, it's not the phone. It's likely the cheap speaker dock you get for ordering early on Samsung.com.
I called Samsung today just to see what's up with my order and they told me that they're shipping orders out this monday, the 17th and supposed to get it no later than the 20th. Which means probably Wed the 19th many of us get it since they use 2 day air. Samsung ships their promo stuff out of Indiana. Not sure where their phones ship from. Was hoping maybe get it on Tue if it ships really early. Us who ordered from Samsung might get it one day earlier than people who ordered it from carriers. It would be nice if they shipped it out tomorrow and we got it Monday.

There was no mention of it when I ordered the S8+, only the VR.
I've ordered on march 29th, 00h30. Payment went thru right away, on my credit card; the whole CAD$1,290.10
The ****ty 90's looking Canadian order details page still says nothing about shipping.

I'm in the US and there was no mention of it, but people have posted pics of the dock they have received the last couple days. I think it was only if you ordered the first day of pre orders though. The VR should come with the phone next week.
my pre-order was posted on the 2nd of may... My cc was charged yesterday... I didn't get that gift speaker.

Don't be too sad, looks like me and everyone else that ordered from Best Buy and chose to have the device shipped wont get the phones till next week... When I ordered it said I would get it on the 21st, but today when the order fully went thru it says the 25th... And I can't even edit the order now to pick it up in person. Had they told me it wouldnt be shipped to me on release day, I would have been ok driving 30+ miles to the closest store location >.>

I believe that this promotion is only being fulfilled by Samsung; no matter who you bought the Note 8 from. Like you, my status also says approved and that they will ship out between 6-8 weeks, so I guess we just need to be patient.
I claimed my gift September 11 and it shipped October 6th.

Anybody who got theirs did your status ever change from "will ship in X amount of weeks" or did it just show up one day?
I bought my phone on launch day for at&t and submitted my paperwork that day and it was approved that day but it just keeps saying 6-8 weeks. Just curious

I also ordered mine around the same time and from AT&T as well and about a week or so ago I got a notification that the items shipped (email and Samsung Shop app notification). I also had the 6-8 week message until it shipped. So you will be notified when it ships out. It was via FedEx 2 day.
So my Shop Samsung app got an update in the play store and now I can't see any evidence that my promotion has been claimed.
If anyone else here was in the "will ship in 6-8 weeks" phase, and also got an app update, can you check your app for status?

Anybody who got theirs did your status ever change from "will ship in X amount of weeks" or did it just show up one day?
I bought my phone on launch day for at&t and submitted my paperwork that day and it was approved that day but it just keeps saying 6-8 weeks. Just curious

Received mine on Friday. Said the delivery day was Monday... Jackpot! Finally! Comes with another fast charging plug and usb-c cable. Just finished moving files to the SD card. I take a lot of pictures and videos with my drone so I've been looking forward to the SD card. Wireless charger will sit on the office desk. Works well.

Since the U11 was released I have been waiting and hoping HTC would do a small bezel U11 and now here it is.
Passed on the Note 8, V30 and Pixel 2 XL because I really wanted to see what HTC had up its sleeve (not that i cant still go nab one of those lol) once the rumours of the U11 plus started.
But not available in North America and also not in solar red which is arguably the nicest colour the U11 comes in.
So who else is really annoyed and disappointed in this?
Sure we will be able to buy one online/ abroad in a variety of places but still no solar red!
HTC have made a very odd decision here neglecting the North American market one would think. It certainly has me rethinking going with them since they dont seem to value us as customers.
Why don't you buy it from abroad? I bought my S7 Edge on eBay from Singapore or something. No problems.

Yes of course i can do that as I mentioned in my post it just seems like an odd business decision. HTCs mobile division has been abysmal for years, you would think they would want to try devices in as many places as possible not as few places as possible.
And i cant import a solar red one since its not offered Anywhere.

The main issue is that U11+
won't have all US LTE bands (like B2 for TMoUS)
probably won't support the majority of US LTE-Advanced combinations (carrier aggregation)
won't support VoLTE and WiFi Calling for US carriers

Yup, checked on the current data available on the only version (TW) of the U11+ bands supported and B2 LTE is indeed not there.... but there seems to be some positive signs that you guys might wanna get excited abt. The U11+ TW/WW version seems to support the same exact bands and are of the same exact speeds for the U11 TW/WW version; that likely means the U11+ radios are exactly the same as the U11 radios, so it is *probably* very easy for HTC to make US versions if it ever wanted to. So, keep your fingers crossed!

They are such idiots for not releasing it in solar red.
I'm absolutely disappointed that the two top contenders for my upgrade will not be available in the US, the Huawei Mate 10 and this device. I feel like the US is getting the short end of the stick this year.

No, I'm just waiting to see how well they work on various networks over here before committing. I've heard both work okay on AT&T but am waiting for more concrete information.

When my friend visited me here in Dubai in summer of 2016 - we bought him htc m10..
after returning to US he inserted AT&T sim in it, and had no any signal/coverage related issue ...

The "Neglect" Is more of HTC trying to secure profits since they are and have been a dying brand even though they release great phones. The US is full of competition that they have dealt with and not won in most of their times of releasing flagships, so instead of making a lot of phones, losing profits by not selling them or losing to Samsung and Apple (again), they rather play it safe in markets where they sell decently. I mean, we can still import the phones but until HTC captures the market, we are going to continue to not get some of their best phones. Remember this is just like the M9+ that released only in India but was superior to the regular m9 and everybody (including me) complained about it lol.

I figured it was blocked forcibly by Google, since it waa being designed as the Pixel 2 Xl before Google (unwisely) scrapped it. I assumed they signed a non-compete agreement. Hopefully just temporarily. Can always just order online . Pretty pricey though.

Sad news really ... This is the first phone I've had that I really really loved
I basically quite looking at other phones after owning this one.
Hopefully something else will come along that sparks my interest, maybe a Oneplus is in my future ?
For me, this is a sad occasion too. My Essential phone has been amazing and I don't think I've loved a phone the same way. I can toy with this thing a ton, with it being Treble compatible and pretty close to stock android. (I even watched I/O 18 live, and cheered when Essential was revealed to be on the beta list for pie.) Right now if you guys want one last fling at a rooted tweak for the Essential phone, check out this Magisk Module from the Lawnchair Launcher team, called Quickstep Switcher.

As for them selling another phone, I have yet to see any news that confirms this.
"We are now hard at work on our next mobile product" doesn't really mean anything
some are speculating it means
But as part of that announcement, the company is also confirming something that fans had long hoped to be true: Essential is officially working on a second “mobile product,” presumably this rumored tiny phone that uses AI to answer emails and text messages for you. I be leave are phones will continue to be updated, but it's still sad to here production has stopped.
I suspect production has been over for 6 months or more likely a year.
The way read their statement is that they are stopping current production but will launch a new "AI" phone sometime. So definitely not dead.
No phone is restocked after an year and half, I don't see issues here..
It's old tech* now, nobody would buy a phone with an 835 when phone with 855 are in the pipeline for the next weeks... nobody gives a fk when any other company stops the production of older phones.. I really don't get why in this case there are news about it!
All media always had something negative to say about this phone.. in a way that's not justified in my opinion.
*Don't get me wrong, I love it, it's the best phone I ever had. To me, that I have bought it at a very convenient price, is the only true spiritual successor to nexus 5, just much better under every aspect.. but I bought it more than 1 year ago.. No people would like to buy a one plus 5, new from one plus, today.
Is there any chance ROM development will stop soon on this phone? I'm thinking of buying this phone used due to the stock nature but if ROM development is stopping soon as well, then I'll look elsewhere

ROM development will last years on a device like this.
Your biggest issue would be missing out on 5g in the next year... But as long as you plan to upgrade in 2-3 years from now you'll be fine and not miss much.

I just bought the phone (granted I got it for free "essentially "^_^) but those specs mean nothing to me. Day to day performance and prompt updates which it looks like essential has been doing is important to me. People get WAY too caught up in these new SoC's when the originals have BARELY been tapped out and for 99% of people, they don't need more.
