I am on SM-G955FD baseband version G955FXXU1AQI7 (Android 7.0) rooted through CF-Auto-Root download from firmware.mobi by @Chainfire. I removed a lot of blotware afterwards, and xposed official is installed.
Now I want to install an update while keeping the root and phone data through FlashFire.. I downloaded the latest firmware with baseband version G955FXXU1AQJ5 (3.26gb zip file) which is a minor update and android version is still 7.0 and I am using the same update package as default i.e. same CSC
Moreover I am on stock recovery i.e. Custom recovery such as TWRP is not installed.
Now I want to install this firmware package through FlashFire v0.73 while keeping root as well as data intact.
I suppose I have to pick this zip file (without extracting) from FlashFire firmware menu..
I need your input on steps to get this update through using FlashFire, without loosing root or phone data...
In FlashFire I am getting current binary status as custom.

You probably need a new bootloader for modern firmware, which is something that flashfire flashing is not recommended for. Also if something goes wrong you will have effectively bricked your device as you will need a PC to get it working again.
Also installing a new system requires a full wipe, so you will rebloat and need to reroot and reinstall xposed

I had the problem, I couldn't root my phone after the update from B521 to the latest B820 version.
I tried out SuperSu versions 2.65 till 2.74.
After rooting through TWRP, I always got bootloops and after unrooting the system starts normally.
As a last try, I looked into the install script and set the "SYSTEMLESS" var to "true".
Now I've got a rooted and starting phone.
So I think there must be a problem, at least for me, with automatically detecting a systemless installable Android version in SuperSu from chainfire at Honor 6, as I understand.
Did anyone else have that problem?
I added SYSTEMLESS=true in /META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary within SuperSu-v2.65.zip, just as described there, but it should defaults to true after proper detecting without this.
At my B521 system, I used SuperSu version 2.52, which worked there and wasn't booting at Marshmallow, too.
Install 2.62

The Multi Tool says for TWRP L02 and L12, can I also install it on L04?
I've installed SuperSu 2.74 via fastboot/TWRP, but as I wrote, only with an modified updater-script, the system boots up. (for me, not sure why and maybe this can help others)

I think I have exactly the same issue, could you upload your modified supersu.zip for me or walk me through the modifications?
That'd be swell.

Have tested it today with latest stable SuperSu, which is v2.76-20160630161323.
-> open the archive with an archive-manager
-> go to /META-INF/com/google/android/ directory
-> edit update-binary with a text editor (your text editor should respect linux line breaks (LF), so if you're on windows, you have to make sure this, I think)
-> after the commented section(all lines with a # beginning), where you can read about possible system vars and beyond,
you have to set the SYSTEMLESS variable to true like in the following example of code:
Code:
...
# if needed. It must replace the input file and return a 0 exit code.
[COLOR="Red"]SYSTEMLESS=true[/COLOR]
OUTFD=$2
...
Line 2, you have to insert to achieve an systemless installation, which seems to be the only way for you and me to make it work.
Please make sure to pay attention to upper/lower case, because otherwise it will fail.
-> save the updated zip and install it via TWRP, e.g. via sideload
Hope, this was usefully.
Note: This is only usefull for Marshmallow as described in the file, because it will not work below.
If you leave TWRP afterwards, e.g. for reboot and it asks you for installing root, click on "Do not install".
Hi everyody i have some problem with my phone NXT-AL10.
I've made an update to a NOUGAT Beta version for my Mate 8 but for somes reasons i need to downgrade my phone to the emui 4.0 (or 4.1 i don't remember my old version) but the problem is here. Last month i tried all version of TWRP but any version worked for my device with Android 7.0. Now i've found TWRP Version 3.0.2 or 3.03 and i can boot to TWRP but it always said it can't mount system ! (I've tried to format DATA, all wipe) but nothing works !
I tried the DLOAD method but the same i tried 15 UPDATE.APP and i can't flash my phone.
Now my phone have just access to TWRP but without the possibility to mount system and when i tried normal boot i go always to the eRecovery but i can't use UPDATE.APP. I have one choice "Download latest version and recovery" off course it doesn't work !
I'm stuck at this state can you help ?

Yet, the phone is offering an update:
Since I took this screenshot, the download has completed, and it is offering to install it.
My understanding is that OTA would not happen if the phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Should I let it install this update? How can I find out exactly which update it is? I'm assuming it would be (PQ3A.190605.003, Jun 2019), but how can I confirm?
Where is this 1.2 Gb file stored on the phone once it downloads? I found posts saying it was at root level in folder /cache, but it is not there. Maybe it moved for Android 9? I tried to use Solid Explorer to find files > 1 Gb, but it did not find anything.
I was also surprised today, but let it install. Lost the root afterwards.

Did you have any issues re-establishing root with Magisk after installing the update?
Which version of Magisk? Latest 19.3?

Rebooted into bootloader, fastboot TWRP, flashed latest 19.3 and that's it. Everything is back to normal

I'm using ZTO and there is NO one android 11 yet.
Hello,
Finally, I can unlock the bootloader, flash twrp and root my Samsung Galaxy A01 (a01q) (SM-A015M).
All I need is just update to Android 11 and then I can unlock the bootloader and flash the magisk patched boot.img together the patched vbmeta.img.
I can flash TWRP using the image file "TWRP_3.5.2_A015F.img" sent by @tariqa
How To Root Samsung A01 (a015f/DS)
Hello, I want to ask how to root samsung galaxy a01 (a015f) , i want to instal f.lux for better blue light filter, Thanks!
forum.xda-developers.com
Thank you very much
1. Unlock your bootloader enter in download mode Vol+ + Vol- + USB conected to pc (Keep in mind that by doing this you will lose your files, it is advisable to make a backup of your photos, music, etc.)
2. Once you start your cell phone install magisk manager, Choosing the boot.img file of your rom into the app (Tip: Only!!! If your model is SM-A015M Android 11 I leave you my own modified boot.img to flash:
File on MEGA
mega.nz
Otherwise, you can download the firmware (3.79 gb) and extract the boot.img from the firmware of your model SM-A015 M / F ... Android 10, Android 11... etc. And No need for pc
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-A015M/
3. The image will begin to flash
4. When it restarts you will have Root on the cell phone!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra: If you need the custom recovery I give you the link with my TWRP which is installed through the Odin program on a PC (this step does not delete your files)
File on MEGA
mega.nz
Keep in mind that to install TWRP you must deactivate the DM-VERITY & FORCEENCRYPT DISABLER I leave it in a link:
Zackptg5 - Android
zackptg5.com
This is a module that can be installed via magisk, which is necessary to decrypt the system ... so once TWRP is installed, it is advisable to uninstall it via Magisk to avoid R / W errors
Easy way to get Root & TWRP 2 in 1
A015F only!
Requirements: unlocked bootloader, android 11.
In Odin unmark autoreboot option.
Flash the "gorecovery.tar" file in AP field.
Boot to recovery and choose "Reboot system".
Allow Magisk to autoupdate.
If first boot after flashing will be into system - flash the file again.
The method keeps all your files and settings. Possible to use on already adjusted system.
So I have become member of the bricked-my-phone family. I have followed this tutorial https://www.getdroidtips.com/unbrick-oneplus-6/ and successfully unbricked it.
I have downloaded latest oxygen os (I tried two latest - one with android 11 and one with android 10), I have added the zip to the root directory and from system update I selected it, but in both cases I instantly get "System update installation failed" at 0%. It also says I am up do date from OTA (it it android 8.1 lol)
what should I do?
I want to install latest oxygenOS only for firmware, then I will be installing LineageOS again. I am afraid If I do it the other way around (LOS first than firmware) I will brick it again.

That's exactly what I did and the result, you see on screenshot..
But later in the evening, I found the solution here https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-6-system-update-installation-is-failed.1314311/:
The OP6 must be on 9.0.9 before upgrading to Android 10.
You are still on Oreo/Android 8.
There is a link for 9.0.9 on this website:

If you are able to boot to Fastboot as well as able to unlock bootloader than do unlock the bootloader and flash this msm file
[ROM][STOCK][FASTBOOT][OP6] Stock Fastboot ROMs for OnePlus 6
Things are changing with the advent of project treble and seamless updates. OnePlus will no longer release ROMs flashable via stock recovery (with twrp is possible but not recommended). The updates will be done on the slot not used for example...
forum.xda-developers.com
And after that reboot to recovery stock and factory reset. This will fix your issue than after lock the bootloader(if it's unlock after flashing the file) and update to latest rom (download the rom from oneplus updater app with advance setting "on")
