Indian HTC U11 (HTC__060) in the UK - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

I have a Dual SIM HTC U11 that I bought online for much cheapness and had delivered to ol' blighty. It has CID HTC__060 (India).
Can I change the CID to an EMEA model (HTC_001)?
Is there any benefit / risk in me doing so?
I've rooted the phone and installed TWRP and Magisk and am trying to apply the latest OTA updates via the fantastic collection of infos on this site. However, I'm struggling to get hold of files I need for the model that I have. Seems that it would be simpler in the phone were an EMEA model.
Thanks!

[Q] Getting an unbranded European ICS update

Dear all,
I live in Israel and about two months ago I bought the Sensation.
After waiting for so long and not receiving the update I have taken interest in the way the FOTA works. I've seen that some folks here wrote that the ICS update depends on the CID. This led me to investigate further into my phone (which I haven't done previously).
Turns out the Sensation I bought from a private shop here in Israel has the Indian unbranded CID (HTC_038).
Software number is 1.52.720.3
Since I dont really need an Indian ICS update, what I wanted to ask is:
Suppose I change my CID to the European unbranded, will I then be able to get a European ICS update? Will my phone work well after such procedure?

Well, I tried changing the cid using adb commands and it didn't work, guess getting the update depends not only on the CID but also on the software number
I'm still awaiting the ICS update on my UK sim free XE, most others already have the update. It's possible that the device serial number could be a factor in getting the update too.

switch the htc u11 from chinese ver to global ver

I need help concerning changing the software of the HTC U11 128gb from chinese rom that doesnt have google play to global version that have google play.. can anyone help please
model number - htc u-3w
software 1.0.0.U-3w
Your only chance would be s-off. Even at that would be a stretch, best you could get would b the DUGL model (same as mine, which I have converted to Euro from India version) S-off isn't available on the current HTC firmware and it seems HTC have removed it for now..... There is a feature called trusted reboot but you need a special tool to get this mode.... The wait for s-off begins
Would the HK version be the China edition or the International version?

Hong Kong U11 have Google Play.

Hello!
I have the same problem. The phone is produced for a Chinese operator and can not install a series of wup applications, google play ..... in addition, even selecting English remains a number of applications in Chinese characters. Can you help with a solution? thank you
For Chinese HTC phones. If you need Google
Just go to the stock market app store in HTC. And find the app name GMS
Download it and let it install the Google apps for your HTC phones
It works well.
flash the custom rom or you have to s-off then flashing the stock Unlocked rom if you prefer stock one

Update from HTC USA

Hello all,
Can see the Oreo update on the Htc us support site for unlocked u11,
Can we install it on our phone purchased in India??
The site is
http://www.htc.com/us/support/updates.aspx
Thanks in advance
No. Devices from different areas have certain differences (for instance, radios, firmwares etc.)
So you need to wait for the official update for your device, once it becomes available for your device, in your region.

Oops. I should have checked that the unlocked US variant is the single SIM variant whereas we have the dual sim variant here in India. Rookie mistake. Thanks for the input though!
You'll find that you'd need to change the cid and mid to use the usa updates

Yeah, I won't change to the US one though. Maybe TW or any Dual-sim variant region with Oreo already

Unable to update to Oreo

I recently bought HTC U11 and have been using it with AT&T. U11 is an international unlocked version. Although most of the websites claim international versoin had gottent Oreo update, I do not see the update when check from the phone. What is the best way to update?
Thanks,

Ok. How can I say my phone is US unlocked or international? I believe mine is international, since I bought it from EBay, would be good know.
In settings, about, software information, software number.
Must be x.xx.401.xx to be eu worldwide edition.
617 is the US unlocked/dev edition.
I didn't realize there were 2 different versions of the unlocked phone. I bought mine used (practically new as the guy only used it a couple weeks) a couple weeks ago and as soon as I started setting it up I got the update to Oreo. After reading your post I checked my software version and it is indeed 617, so I have the US version (which is great considering I'm in the US lol).

Which firmware/Where to download/Best version for buttons?

I hope somebody who's versed in U12+ variants and firmware can answer a few questions for me.
I just received a "new" (with broken seal) U12+ with CID HTC__059 and Oreo firmware 1.25.400.3. Fastboot getvar all says it's a imedugl variant -- Asian? (India.) I'm in the USA, travel a lot and vacation in the Caribbean at least once a year. I will root the phone once I get it firmware-stable.
Questions:
1. Will I have to worry about CID 059 / SKU 400 working on a (US) T-Mobile mvno? If 059 is a problem, which other region(s) would be better?
2. For North American or European, which has the best availability of Oreo firmware? The only Oreo I can find for 617 is https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=674106145207492637]here on AFH, but I don't know what the "combined" means in that filename. Any other places to get 617 fw?
3. Relating to https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=281261]other U12+ firmware on AFH, is there any notable difference between Imagine and Exodus firmware? Both are listed in the 401 DUGL folder.
4. And what is the difference between 401 DUGL and 401 UHL firmware? (Nvm, I already knew that. I have a DUGL dual SIM model.)
4. Last but not least, is there any firmware I should avoid as problematic concerning the Volume buttons?
As for the spreadsheet mentioned in several places on XDA, like the one I have for the U11 -- the google download link is broken, can't find that spreadsheet anywhere.
TIA to whoever can help however!
I did finally find several pages of firmware download links and descriptions in @5m4r7ph0n36uru's thread . . .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...us-1-factory-image-firmware-boot-ota.3794664/
. . . apparently material for the spreadsheet that is no longer downloadable, and I've collected notes on various Oreo downloads. So question 2 is at least partially answered.
