root Micromax E453 ? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
New here..
Just got myself a Micromax Evok e453.. this diwali, And am hating every moment of it.. First comes the bloatware of advertisements.. On trying to address that, i saw
https://www.xda-developers.com/micromax-remotely-installing-unwanted-apps-on-devices/
The very first step is to root the phone. Never rooted one before.. (Been working on game development for android, VR, usinfg Unity.. ) So, basically I believe my first questions are..
- Is rooting a must? (I definitely understand that it has it's own advantages, like i can install a stock android instead of bloated OEM ports.. But as i am a newbie in it..)
- If so, is there any single click app / solution ? If not, can someone point me to a precise guide for this device?
Depending on what i learn on the above questions, maybe i'll have soem follow up Q's..
Thank You very much
Rajesh

Same here!!!!!!
Only thing I can't find is a recovery for this model
and i cant download preloader drivers because mega.nz is blocked in my region
can someone give a link for preloader 67xx or 6753 on mediafire or android file host or send to my email?
i want them to be on a safe side in case i brick my phone.

Disable Ads
Just restrict app background data of Micromax app centre as it cannot be uninstalled then block notification access of firewey and xhelper and also restrict app background data ,adds will be gone .

[Q] how to Make MAGPAD 7.1 useful ?

Hi All,
I got MAGPAD 7.1 as a present and after 1.5months of use I conclude that "as is" it's next to useless.
It's unstable, batterry eating, constantly crashing, with WiFi connection that turns itself off... well... by itself, so it has to be manually turend on again , and etc. To put it short: it's next to useless.
It would seem some of this may source from the fact that it runs some sort of double desktop (I don't need) and a lot of software supplied by the vedor including all kind of services I dont\t use.
So, I would like to try and make it a useful. As a first step it would seems reasonable to wipe it out clean and install some custom and lightweight Android. However, the only experience I have regarding such activity was on my OLD HTC Diamond Touch. Back then, btw, installation of a custom rom instead of the cell-company one worked wonders.
Reading some web, including this forum, I understood that the process shoul dbe something like that:
1. Root the device
2. Install something that should help me manage roms
3. Wipe the original rom clean and install crispy new Android.
Is this correct?
Will this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 script help me with step 1?
What application is supposed to help me with rom managements and where do I get it?
An any1 suggest me a stable ligthweight ROM that would fit my poor MAGPAD 7.1?
Thanks a lot.
PS Sorry for being a total newb on this
Steps 1 and 2 are now clear (actually, step 1 is complete). But step 3 remains in the darkness.
I don't seem to find any ROM for MAGPAD v7.1, maybe its rebranding of some chineese make?
Does any one know how I can find the specs of the Tablet, to find the most sutable ROM alterantive?
By now I'm pretty sure it's rebradngin of something generic (1 reaosn being the fact that there's no info about this tablet ANYWHERE on the web)
This subforum should be renamed to "Questions" as in "with no answers".
No, really, doesn't any1 know how to find out the chipset for an unknown Android Tablet? Maybe there's some sort of applicaton that analyzes the hardware? Some way to find what ROMs are compatible?

Gotta get this working!
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, although I have spend a big amount of time here (before registering), reading through posts about customizing ROMs, etc.
First things first:
- I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Plus G350 (or G3500 whatever suites you), and I would like to customize it's stock ROM, no rooting involved. I did manage to customize, or I should say minimize, my stock ROM for my Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 (S7710), rooted it, changed lot's of things, just to get rid off unwanted apps, services and maximize performance. And that worked out pretty well .
Being I'm a guy who likes things to be neat (I'll get to that in a sec ), and pretty much as close to factory build as it can be, I'm not trying to do anything flashy with my G350, just want to remove stupid apps and that's it.
When I said neat, I meant Odin flashing ROM neat. I prefer it to CWM Rom installing technique (although this is clean as well, one would have to have a memory card, memory card reader (or working USB drivers if one has to transfer files directly to the phone), CWM Recovery Firmware (no support for G350), and compatible Custom ROM...you get the picture, not much of a trouble, but a hassle if some of the components are missing....Odin flashing... clean and easy, anyone can use it.
My problem is:
After completing all modification, my system.img file appears with a lock, when I compile it. I'm not sure about the memory allocation, I did calculated it correctly ( i hope ) but that shouldn't be a problem, my main problem is the stupid lock on system.img file icon, before I compress everything to tar and checksum it. Ofc the flashing fails and my best guess its because of that lock in the icon, and Odin stops on system.img file. Does anyone know why is this happening, I didn't have any issues with Xcover's ROM packing, every time I finish with the modification in Xcover system.img file, unmount the file, and everything is fine. Even the flashing part.
I'm packing everything in Ubuntu 14.04 ...I am familiar with linux base systems but I ain't a wiz and flashing in Win 7.
Does anyone know the solution to this, I'm doing something wrong for sure, or I'm overlooking something, any help is very welcome.
Sorry for this extensive text and bad English (not my native language), I figured someone would appreciate some info.
Best regards.

As far as I know, the lock shows, that you don't have the write permission on this file

[Q] Identifying and routing my mini android phone

Hi all,
Background:
I bought an android phone from Chinavasion. It is described as
Wholesale Waterproof Android Phone - Mini Android Phone From China
I cannot identify its device type which is why I am posting here. The play store identifies the phone as
Alps Ratech72_wet_rlk_lca
The phone has a MT6572 Dual Core 1GHz CPU and runs Android version 4.2.2.
I want to increase the ram of the phone. It is 256MB. I want to use virtual memory. I have a 2GB sdcard in the phone. I am planning to give it 512MB. Can I do this without rooting? If I have to root it, then how do I do so? I would prefer not to use an exploit.
Anyone any suggestions?
Pranav
Hiya,
I went around looking for some hints on this phone as well but didn't come up with anything.
I got my device yesterday and I understand your issue. I have no sollution for you but I do have a solid work-around to get some more app space which, I'm afraid, involves rooting.
Activate USB debugging, connect your device to a PC. Download and run Kingo Android Root and follow the instructions.
After that I "adb'ed" to make the phone choose the SD-Card as the default installing path. Run th following command with adb.
Code:
# adb shell pm set-install-location 2
For the apps that wouldn't move to the SD-Card, due to su issues, I moved manually with the app called Move app to SD card.
Grant the app root access to sort out the apps not willing to move by themselves.
With this sorted I now have 500 mb of apps installed on the SD-Card. I am running low on memory now due to some parts of the app still installs on the phone memory.
Not a real app2sd script but it certanly will get you some more apps installed!
Another hint: When I ordered the phone they said it supported 16 GB SD-Cards only but I'm running flawless with a 64 GB card!
I'd love to see a costum recovery (since I don't know chinese) and CM for this device, but since it's not a western phone I guess we'll have to settle with stock.
Hope this helps.
A few hours has gone by and without doing any backups I replaced some system apps and now I can bearly work the phone! Haha.. Thou shall not do this sort of thing after 2 h sleep.
Anyway, don't be afraid of doing what I wrote in the previous post, it worked just fine! I'm hoping you'll do it, it's the only way I can think of to get the system files back. :-S
Since there seem to be no one but you and me who have bought there phones..
edit: Sorted out my problem, got it running again! However, if you are going to root it, please do share the stock files! :-S

to use virtual memory you would have to root it and plus you cant get that much more ram with virtual memory, 256mb of ram on a 4.2.2 phone? i hope you got a good deal for it because 256mb will get you nowhere with nowadays google play apps updates hogging all the ram.
Some more info. Appearently the phone is also called "Nanex" and/or Z18 Mini Smartphone.. Maybe it's called different things in different regions?
Move to SD card SUCCESSFUL!
Im so glad there was this thread, it seems like nobody else knows about this awesome little phone!
I followed the instructions that "pingaan" posted and it worked! now i can install as many apps to SD card as i want, awesome!
I'm glad I could help.
I've been using this device for about a week now and I have to say that the stock rom is horrible! There are many flaws and no updates incoming, as far as I know.
Another disappinting thing is that the screen material is >VERY< easily scratched so DO NOT order this phone without screen protection.
I am going to order a new one cause I love that it's so small! It's even smaller than my old "dumbphone", but I don't see myself using stock rom. I'd rather not use the phone at all.
I'm going to try to compile a custom recovery and port a suitable CM11 rom to this device for proper usage.
Don't expect it any time soon, cause my days are normally filled up with family, house and work.
Regards.

everything about this phone is pretty good for the size, except the ram is so ridiculously small, i've tried to add virtual ram with link2sd and partitioned sd card, but apparently link2sd won't work without hacing the bootloader unlocked first, but i can't unlock the bootloader as it seems like there doesn't seem to be proper drivers for this phone.
if you are planning to do a custom rom on there, please let us know how when and how you managed to get the bootloader unlocked plz! :fingers-crossed:
Since I noticed the screen being easily scratched I ordered a new device from a different retailer, along with a plastic screen protection.
There is an interesting thing about this. The bootanimations are different and there's also a reboot option in the powermenu on the new.
Maybe the bootloader already is open? I mean, if you can change the power menu you need to alter the framework, right? The bootanimation is quite easy to change with root access however.
Have you checked the built-in recovery? There is actually an option for installing "update.zip"..
Do you have a proper app2sd script that I can try out on my old device?
Cheers...
Anyone have a backup of the ROM for ratech72_wet_rlk_lca ?? I plugged in a MTK Tool and I seem to have corrupted the system ;-( ... Didn't even get a chance to backup!

Anyone find a copy of the ROM I need it also?

Grand Prime SM-G530T1 Android Closed Sources

If this is the wrong place for this post notify me which thread to go to and I will move it my self no worries.
So is there anyone out there who knows how to reverse engineer closed source android files? Example; Bootloader? I want to remove knox from bootloader and open up the bootloader completely. I want to be able to play pokemon go no matter what kind of block they send out. Current update they block all root users. Not everyone is a cheater which is ridiculous to block us all.
I need to make a custom rom and would love to start by learning how to hack the bootloader and remove Knox completely. This is for lollipop 5.1.1 on the Grand Prime SM-G530T1 if I had my own pc at the time id try to look it up and learn it. Would really appreciate any given help. There is a handful of us who want a working rooted rom for this device and options arent supported so if I can get access to all the source files and make them all open then I can look into making a custom rom that wont be corrupted. Goal here is to use the stock files. Build from stock keep it simple. Remove some thing add others.
Make it strictly a rom for playing games with root access hidden. Once I learn how to hack all the files I will start doing it for other phones and help others as well.
So can anyone help or give me and answer as to how to do this.

Without a device tree, there is no way to build a custom ROM. Unless of course you know how to extract them from the Tablet
