Has anyone tried this Olixar Essential Phone Tempered Glass Screen protector yet? I read that the others one made so far are terrible, so wondering about this one.

No, but I ordered it so i'll let you know, I have been spoiled by intelliglass. Plastic just doesn't cut it anymore.
I would even be ok with it NOT wrapping over the edges.

Ok finally got the screen. Nice glass, good install kit, destructions if req'd.
Install went smoothly, I had the plastic ones on since I got the phone so no crap to worry about there. Dropped the Glass on and it auto adhered from the middle out effortlessly and then. Stopped.
Leaving really funny looking voids all around the edges. This was not a user error, this is a screen that doesn't follow the contours. Glass itself stops about 1- 1.5 mm from the edge so not sure why it won't stick unless the Glass itself is not flat ( seen that before).
So. Nice glass, not so nice fit.
I'll live with it but I'm not happy

Sounds like a couple I bought before the phone was released. They were fine except for not sealing at all the entire way around the edges.
Not to hijack the thread but thought to drop my thoughts.. after some research I picked up this from Skinomi: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074TSW9LF?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I've always used tempered glass but imo it's a joke and never fits right and always scratches and cracks easily.
Couldn't be happier with this kit as it was easy install, feels amazing and contours to the entire screen. They have a kit for the whole body as well that looks interesting.
Not sure if anyone else has tried it but I'm sold on this stuff now. I'll add a pic when I can.

I have the Skinomi whole body kit, but haven't installed it yet. I plan on doing it either tonight, or some time this weekend. I probably won't do the sides, as I've found on other phones that these don't tend to adhere very well.
Thought about the whole kit but decided to snag a couple dbrand skins on their Black Friday deal.

You should check out Skinomi and I believe Phantomskinz. I have a Skinomi one that isn't glass obviously but feels great and covers the entire screen perfectly.

lol, how could you look and use your phone like that? Tried one tempered glass, it was garbage, will never use another one. Been rocking the device without a case and screen protector for a few months now and will probably keep it that way.

Have been using the phone with no case or screen protector (which I never used in any of my phone's) since September. I don't think I realized how fugly all cases are until I got the PH-1.
Incidentally, the phone got dropped multiple times, a few on t street and nothing happened.
Agree glass protectors for this phone are not perfect but any means but they still serve their purpose to protect the screen regardless of fugliness... Trying out the skimoni as I just want to avoid scratches on the screen. I don't plan on hitting my phone with the head of a hammer. Will say this dropped the phone from about 3 ft kicked it (while trying to soften fall with my foot) and it slid on it's back a couple feet and there isn't a mark on the thing. As much as I love running naked now sporting in my opinion the least ugly case I could find from tudia.
does it still work well, the skinomi? Does it work with a case?

I think if they do, even the glass protector would need to have curve. 2.5D display of Note4/5 or edge display of the Edge variant wouldn't be covered completely otherwise. And even if they come up with something like that, I would assume the price would be too high..
I hope skinomi makes this for the edge +
Give them some time and I'm sure temper glass edge to edge protectors will be available

Looks nice but no brand name to research reviews to see how it well it covers so 25 from a unnamed company that ships directly from China is definitely too much!
Plus paying $25 and you may get the screen protector between now and Halloween.
I got the skinomi screen protector. I guess this is the best selling on amazon for this phone, but i dont recommend it. There are plastic indentations of on the screen, its wet install so no bubble, but its a nightmare to install, cos even if u wet install it, and squeeze out the water with a squeezee, the skin wont stay on the screen.
http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi®-TechSkin-Replacement-Definition-Anti-Bubble/dp/B011M7ZTUA
Waiting for spigen or some other known brand to come up with a curved tampered glass screen protector.
I figured $25 to protect my $850 phone until a better cheaper version is available was worth the chance to me. Trust me I wish there were more options but that is not the case right now

I have that same one on my screen right now and the install was simple. No bubbles and it has stayed on with no issue. It's clear and looks good.
Either you got a defective one or you are not experienced installing a wet apply protector.

Take pics and tell us if it fully covers when you get it?
Finally, it will come out with perfect match to the edge+ or something.
The one I ordered shipped today. I also noticed a bunch of new people selling similar tempered glass edge to edge protectors on ebay.
I've also ordered Skinomi and yes,it's wet install and kind of tricky but luckily I was able to have a successful install. It's kind of soft and rubbery feel, but not much that cause worry or distraction. I'm actually loving it.
I've got the same one (skinomi) on my phone. Installation was a breeze. No bubbles or peelings, but I do hate the fact that there are some dust on the edges of the screen protector, none on the screen tho. I also hate the rubbery feeling, but for now it will have to do until I can get my hands on the tempered sp. I almost always go with the Zagg tempered glass, since it features a lifetime warranty.

I would have to Agree i used the Skinomi on my Note 4 edge ,most people couldn't believe I had a screen protector on it it was that hard to see, and the curve on the note4 edge is a lot more of and angle .........just my 2 cent's , just a tip for those that are using any type of wet application I would suggest you get a bowl , like a large salad bowl fill it half way with water and then add a few drop's of dish detergent not too much , it allow's you to get your finger's and the screen protector evenly wet and if you see a hair or a piece of dirt or whatever just pull it off submerge the screen protector to get what ever that was either on the screen or on the protector or the screen and start over again , ever since I saw this tip from somewhere here on XDA it's never failed three different phones and perfection ..........:good:
I just put on the techfilm dry install and it wouldn't show in a picture that's how thin it is. No bubbles full coverage, had to use a flashlight to make sure it was on. Best protector I've ever used on any phone. Oh and no rubber feeling like I've heard about others
I have skimmed through the pages in the other tempered glass screen protector threads. I have yet to find a manufacturer who makes an edge to edge protector that adheres to the entire screen rather than just the top and bottom.
My issue is that with a water proof device, anytime it is exposed to water (every day for me as I place it on the shelf in the shower to listen to music), water becomes trapped underneath the tempered glass.
Anyone picked up a model that would remedy this?
no one currently makes one
Why did you feel the need to open a whole new thread for something that has been discussed at length in many other threads? no, there is no solution yet.
Doesn't the official Samsung one do this ?
The official Samsung one is plastic, not glass.
The official Samsung one is not tempered glass.
I strongly advice against getting curved tempered glass. Or any screen protector with curve protection.
I got my replacement Note 7 and I decided to just use a flat film protector and leave the sides exposed. So much easier to use this way.
which flat one did you get!

It feels like **** though. I had an IQ Liquid Shield on my old Note 7, and it felt nice in the hand. Barely a bump in feeling, some around the edges but not really noticeable. This current new Note 7 has factory screen protectors, both front and back. But they feel sharp and edgy, they don't cover the curves. I have actual sleeping nightmares about applying a brand new IQ Liquid Shield protector I already have, and it peeling horribly at corners. fEa.r me..?
Yeah. So I got my replacement n7 today. Picked up a Qmadix "first defense" screen protector. Guess what? It's edge to edge and the adhesive goes all the way around the screen. Just got out of the shower (phone got soaked), no water under the glass.
There is no reason to be rude.. Obviously, the other threads "discussed at length" on the subject failed to stumble upon this gem.
Thanks everyone. I'm only 5 hours in but I have no complaints. No halo, sits flush. Thicker than the Verizon branded one I had previously. Has kind of a unique cut out for the Samsung logo. I also purchased a camera, hearbeat sensor, and home button glass.. I'm set lol.
Edit: forgot to mention the Qmadix also comes in all three colors. I purchased black respectively.

This will work 100%, even my case won't peel the screen cover.

you must get this specific version for the full cover. there's a lot of different variations. also let the film completely dry before you even attempt to wrap down the sides. you can use your palms, squeegee, and blow dryer. Remember the water spray is only for help with placement. When this film dries, its very stick and adhesive.
i just hate TPU material, its spongy, soft, leaves imprints and a weird texture. but it does full cover. tempered glass and PET film will never do that.

I have the same protector updated version on my note 7. Did the shrink wrap trick too when i applied it. Came out nice after 12hrs. Once I put my UAG case it started to lift edges. I had to use a credit card to slide case phone in without lifting edges. So I thought I was all good right. Nope a day later it started to lift on the top side and bottom side. I have to smooth it back to down continuously. So either you got lucky or you case does not life the edges.

maybe it was the way you put it on? as in one side you will comfortable be able to tuck it under but the other side kinda snapped on and slid/lifted the cover in order for the case to snap on?

Just installed this. I think i know why most companies only use glue on the top or bottom. The quality of the product is good. The packaging is great but i would rather get something a little more simple and maybe save on the cost.
I have yet to turn on my replacement N7 so i cant speak on clarity but the fit is decent. It even works with my Seidio Dilex case on even though its "full screen"
Here is my one problem so far (its only been an hour since install) there is a slight clicking sound when you press on some areas. The edges etc. This is the reason why i think most companies dont use glue on the sides. I think this is where the clicking sound is coming from. I think i installed it as best as i could but who knows. Maybe its my fault.
Im going to try to use it for a while to see how well it works and if i can stand the clicking sound. This is my 1st glass screen protector for the N7 and i dont think ill try more in the future. I just wanted to try one out.
As the title suggests guys. After spending tons of money in numerous screen protectors i found out that, a protector that's completely clear and covers the full screen doesn't exist. So any one using their phone without one? If yes, then how is it scratching up? Are the scratches too much? I absolutely baby my phone and, after 1 year it looks completely new. As i intend on using it for one more year, how do you think it will hold up without a screen protector? Any input will be appreciated.

Good to hear that. Eases my mind.
Everyday items shouldn't leave any scratches on your phone (keys, coins, tabletops etc etc) its the smaller materials the causes most scratches. Sand is the worst, rock/cement particles and obviously dropping the device will leave marks. I've used my phone since launch and the glass is perfect. Just use a case with a good lip over the glass and your good.

I don't mean to scare you but any unprotected drop over 4ft has potential to crack the screen. Ive cracked the lower left and upper right corners of my S7 flat. There's also a crack from one corner to an edge which passes through the screen. I've since ordered https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B06XHYGG56/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Every day objects are fine, concrete and drops, not so much.

I know that drops will essentially kill the phone. I intend to use a case for that. What i am worried about is how will the screen scratch up in day to day use without a protector.
I have never used a screen protector on any of my phones. I have never had a cracked screen. I don't see how they can really work and they generally look crap on an expensive phone pretty quickly. One thing, the S7 is a pretty heavy phone compared to the S4 which weighed nothing, so if you drop it the screen is possibly more likely to crack if it hits something. I alway use a case and that has saved the phone many times.

I baby my phone too -- always in the same front pocket -- nothing else in that pocket with it, to protect the screen -- always lay it face-down on clean and flat surfaces, etc.
When I got my phone, I searched high and low for a quality glass screen protector too, and you are right, there is none (that works well with a case). I figured I could try no screen protector, because the Corning Gorilla glass these days is relatively impervious to scratches and dirt, so I've been going with a slim case and no screen protector for a year now.
Not a scratch anywhere, and it looks much better than previous phones with screen protectors (especially the plastic ones).

Thank you so much man. I was really confused about using the phone without a protector. Your experience would really help me make the decision.
Okay, so this an update. After so many encouraging info from fellow members, i have been rocking my s7 witnout a screen protector for about a week. And i am happy go say that the display isnt as fragile as i thought it to be. Still no scratch, knock on wood. This is a thank you to all the people who answered and helped me take my decision.
I used s7 without screen protector....
No protector here - and no scratches. I've used two different cases (Spigen and a Diztronic). The screen stays off any surfaces. Ordinary items have not scratched my screen.

I haven't had a screen protector on my S7 since the day I bought it. That was about 2 years ago and there still aren't any scratches on it at all. I always make sure that the screen is against my leg in my shorts/trouser pocket and my right hand leg pocket is solely for my phone. Nothing else ever goes in there besides the phone and that seems to work pretty well. I do have a decent rear cover (VRS Design) that has a nice raised lip around the screen too. I haven't dropped the phone yet though.

I think new batches of S7 are not Gorilla Glass. Mine is 2 months old and in 2 weeks it developed a lot of small scratches and 3-4 very deep ones. I never had a phone with such a bad glass and i wear it with care, never with coins or keys in my pocket or other mistreating. I still have a havey used old S2, S5, OP3, all worn for lots of time by me, all in perfect condition, not a single scratch (never had a screen protector on any of these). However my new S7 is totally ruined as the glass is all scratched. This cannot be Gorilla Glass. It even has a lot of very small scratches in perfectly predictable places on the screen where I touch more often, clearly developed by finger usage because it fits with most used places of on screen controls/menus. It is worse than a plastic protector actually. Tried to return after two weeks because it was clear that any easy touch causes a new scratch. I even doubted it is an original Samsung product. It went to official Samsung service and returned as not deffective (but proven to be genuine Samsung). After this experience I sworn never to buy a Samsung again.

Unlikely they would change the spec like that.. is your phone a copy?
I just got my essential phone and I'm really honestly digging it. I think that it's a very nice phone that fits my needs well.
However, within a day and a half I have already scratched my screen. Its dead center on the screen and like an inch long Literally got the phone on Saturday and scratched it by Monday early AM. I didn't do anything with the phone besides take it in and out of my pocket. Didn't even make it to work with the phone yet. So I'm pretty upset about that.
I know it's gorilla glass 5, but I have never scratched a phone so quick before. Hell my old phone (Moto X pure) Only had one small scratch after running it for 2.5 years without any screen protection at all, including numerous drops and rough handling.
So I guess a screen protector is a must. I ordered a tudia case and a tempered glass screen protector off Amazon. The screen protector is garbage. I hate it. The edges of the screen protector do NOT stick down, even without the case. The edge all the way around the screen is lifted. It looks terrible.
Are there any screen protectors for this phone that are actually decent? I would rather deal with the chance of more scratches than stare at this awful screen protector with unstuck edges.
Photo of the terrible edges.
I'm curious to know too
I haven't found a good tempered glass for this phone. They all seem to have issues. I've been using the IQ Shield wet install screen protector. Not tempered glass but looks and feels great (almost as smooth as glass), self healing and works with cases if you get the case friendly version.

glass screen protectors are nicer, but they suck on this phone.
I went with wet install plastic in the end because it does the main reason for one, protect from scratches, I'm confident it will.
I just hate the wet install process.
but my experience with glass is it doesn't protect from breaking anyway. any significant hit that would break the screen will break the screen no matter what. I think a bumper case is most effective.
I'm using the this one.

You need to clean your screen really, really, really good before you apply it.
Any oils will show up as a rainbow effect or something close.
I've been using it for weeks now with no lifting with a Tudia case.
Some people say they pop off. That has not been my experience. YMMV

I also use this one. I have actually already gone through 5 of them... It seems like some of them are more sticky than others maybe. Initially I used them without out a case and they would come off all the time, but since I've had the Tudia case 1 fell off and the new one has been on there 3 weeks.
My opinion is they are hit or miss... just hope 1 of 3 is good.

My guess is that these don't stick to the edges as well, but they are black, so you can't see it, therefor they peel off

That is correct, but I have tried a couple of other brands as well and they are all like that. I only continue to buy these because there come as a 3 pack and are like $10.

What I don't understand is why they are having such an issue with it, I had the LG V20 and it has curved edges, but they make them for it with no issues

Manufacturers not that bright?
I use incipio, be careful, the installation instructions are very tricky, I messed up mine while installing, lost 40$
I'm waiting to see if they will send me a new one
So is the Incipio screen protector any good? I don't even care that it's $40, if it sticks down properly without the bubble around the edges I'll buy it.
I am also interested in finding a better screen protector. I have been using the IQ Shield LiQuidSkin, which worked great for a few weeks, but now a corner is peeling up, I assume from pulling it in and out of my pocket. I might go ahead and get another one if I can't find anything better. Would love a tempered glass protector if someone actually makes a decent one!

Bought a 3 pack of the ozeros on Amazon. 1st on sucked. 2nd one I put on a few weeks later has been perfect. No rainbow of adhesion issues. Use a clear tpu case with it as well.

Where did you purchase? I'm not even seeing it for the Essential PH-1 on the official website....Nevermind, had to do a manual search for our model.
Now that people are starting to receive their phones and accessories from OnePlus, I am very curious to hear people's thoughts on the official tempered glass protector offered from OnePlus.
Specifically, how does it fit with the OEM cases OnePlus offers. Most importantly, does it fit with the thicker OnePlus Bumper cases?
The good news, according to OnePlus's official install video posted on their website, it does look like it fully adheres to the screen.

Looking forward to feedback before I place an order for one to potentially replace the pre-applied plastic screen protector.

I don't get my phone until later today, so I can not confirm until then. But the two different customer service reps I talked to guaranteed the TGP works with the OEM bumper cases. They said the only case it isn't compatible with is the outterbox case.

Looking forward to your results! If it does fit with the OEM bumper case (specifically the Nylon bumper case for me) I'll use my $20 promo voucher to order the glass protector as well.
I will say the preapplied plasic protector surprised me.wkth how good it feels. I usually do a glass protector but once I get my I will probably leave the plasitc on to see how it wears. Be good for the long term review since most on even know it's there at first

Hi all,
Hope you've not forgotten me! I'm back. I went down to the London launch as I was super excited to see the OnePlus 6 in person and I've now got my hands on the phone and the official tempered glass. So as I have done every year, I'm going to be testing out as many accessories that I can get my hands on, starting with the Official Tempered Glass Screen Protector!
Feel free to watch the video to get all this information, or just scroll down and read it if you prefer!
Some of you wonder why take of the pre-applied factory screen? Well for me, it's all about finding the best protection for your device and from experience the pre-applied screen is not that. It's a nice bonus, as if you're not buying the official you'll have to wait around a week or so before third party manufacturers get screens ready for sale. Mine was also riding slightly high on the screen, which meant using it whilst having gestures turned on was a bit of a nightmare.
As usual the screen protector, comes well packaged, with some excellent tools- most of which you won't need if you're taking the pre-applied screen off and then putting this one on straight away.
The screen protector as with the last few years comes on a single slab of plastic/glass, which you will need to be careful off when you're removing the screen protector from it. I've seen many people CRACK their screen protector at this point. Don't be that person! Go slow, but surely. And for goodness sake once you've peeled it off, don't turn it around and let all the dust particles in your house get on it!
The screen protector fits nicely on the phone and feels pretty decent. High quality!
Postives -
- Feels good
- Looks good
- Fits with the free case
Negatives -
- Finger print magnet - seriously, had it on for a few minutes and it was covered.
- Still has the black border, so you DO still get a 3D effect where you're missing an (admittedly small) portion of your screen
- Hardest OP screen protector I've ever put on.
Let me know if you have any questions on it, and I'll endeavor to keep you all updated on how it functions!
Thanks!
^ Dang! I can't believe how difficult it was for him to remove the bubbles with that protector. And in the end it still had a bubble that kept returning. This sure did make me glad I opted not to pay extra for that tempered glass protector. It's almost as if it doesn't have strong enough adhesive.
Regardless, I plan on sticking with the pre-applied screen protector for a bit before making a decision on a glass protector. In fact, if the pre-applied protector holds up well, I may not ever bother taking it off. I must say that it would be really nice to finally get a phone and never even worry about spending money on a screen protector, or trying to perfectly apply one, for that matter.
I just hope my pre-applied protector isn't positioned too high, as the above video reviewer mentioned his was.
unfortunately my preapplied screen protector is a tiny bit too high for my taste too, so when swiping up with gestures enabled you can feel the slight edge :/
I really hope whitedome is going to bring a TGSP for the OP6 on the market

Thanks for this! Your videos are always great when it comes to these things. Keep up the great work!
Do you think the bit the pops up might simply be just because of the curvature of the screen towards the corner?
(curved screened phones are always a nightmare when it comes to putting screen protectors on). If the underside of the screen protector is curved aswell in order to fit the curved screen of the device, even a fraction of difference can cause these kinds of problems, whereas flat ones you can even get away with them positioned slightly off, and they will always sit down perfectly flat.
Can you confirm whether the curvature of the OnePlus 6's screen is just around the edges, or is it the whole of the front that is actually curved?
(If you see what I mean).
I could be wrong, but from what I can see on the video, it does almost look like it's the whole screen that is rounded and not just the edges (but it's hard to tell from a video, so can't know for sure)

My pre-applied protector only lasted an hour on mine. The edges don't stick enough to avoid random lint and dust from sliding just a bit underneath it. Also the swipe up gestures from the bottom of the phone feel weird as you bump the protector. I'm not sure but I think it's because the protector is a bit thick.

That’s a shame. My phone arrives today and we leave for Mexico tomorrow for a week. I was hoping the pre-applied protector would be perfect. The edges of it are probably going to look like garbage by the time we get back.

What?
I really like the TGP. It fits seamlessly with the nylon case where the edges go all the way to the case and it feels completely natural. I thought the black outlining would bother me, but it works really well with the phone. I highly recommend the OEM TGP. No issues with it being compatible with the bumper case.
I have read on a Dutch forum that there is only glue on the edges of the screen protector. The middle is coated with some sort of oil so you won't see any bubbles.
This would explain the YouTube video with the corner not sticking. Could somebody confirm this?
This is a problem with all "curved edge" phones. Really makes me wish Samsung did not have as much sway in the market as they do. We would still have flat screens!

The tempered glass screen protector from OnePlus has adhesive throughout the entire protector, not just around the sides. Watch an install video and you'll see.

It wasn't to bad. There were a couple of stubborn small bubbles, but it you press and hold on them for a second or two with the included tool they go right away. I have a completely bubble free TGP that took maybe 2 minutes to put on

Well crap. Now I wish I went ahead and ordered the protector with the phone. Now I've got to get through a week in Mexico with the pre-applied protector and hope it doesn't peel up until I get back.
Ordering the TGSP from OnePlus right now. Thanks for your input.
Just installed it and it looks great in my opinion! Wasn't that hard. If you apply it with the included case on, it helps a ton with lining it up; you literally just need to drop it into place.
I did get a couple pieces of dust underneath but they are super small and hardly noticeable, so I don't want to risk lifting the protector to remove it (risking more dust to get under) (or risking losing adhesion).
It does have a bit of that "3D look" but I got used to it very quick and now I don't notice it.
If there is text way at the edge of the screen, it does slightly get cut off but luckily most apps/websites don't have text that close to the edge.
Overall it's a solid protector and I'm probably going to stick with it until the end of its life (unless it cracks or something of course lol).
