Won't connect to data, help! - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Sorry if this isn't the right area to post, but I'm not seeing a better place and no one else seems to have a similar issue to me.
My situation is a little unique. I am upgrading from a Moto X2 (the 2014 version) to a Pixel 2. I am with ATT and when I switch the SIM over from the Moto X2 to the Pixel 2 it connects to voice and text, but not data. I've already called ATT and Google to try and help but they couldn't help me. I've already checked the APN Settings and reset the network settings multiple times through Google and ATT.
Now for the difficult part. I live in Death Valley National Park and there is only one tower here that I can connect to. I also have two repeaters that help get the signal from the Visitor's Center to the Park Village, one government owned and one owned by me. My Moto X2 always connects no problem to data, but my Pixel 2 does not. I can connect to LTE data when I am out of the park and in town getting supplies, but not in the park. The Park's cell tower is not ATT owned, it is owned by Commnet and from my research, it puts out frequencies in the 850Mhz band.
Basically I am at a loss and have no clue why my old phone can connect to data and my new phone cannot even though all the settings are all the same and was wondering if someone could help me out. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to make sure I got everything in that would be of help.

LTE location storage?

Ever since I bought my thunderbolt I've been trying to figure out why when my gps is off I'm listed as located about 40 miles weather from my home. I switch gps on and instantly I'm back to home. (Ie I live in plant city, fl, Odessa fl is where it locates me). So I flashed the newest synergyROM and it had the HTC location stuffs. It gave me a physical address.
Here's where it gets weird, I bought my Thunderbolt used. I got it from a guy in citrus park fl, right near Odessa. Then I remembered that he said he lived in Odessa. So I've narrowed it down to two things:
1: the thunderbolt somehow tracks its original home location
2: somewhere stored on the phone is that address.
Now ofcourse I'm a flash addict, so besides the initial rooting and downgrading, and I've flashed about 20+ times and wiped well over 100, I can't believe this data is being stored on the phone. The LTE card is new. I bought the phone LTE'less and so its a brand new LTE card unused.
Does anyone have an idea on why my location is messed up like this?
Try GPS Status & Toolbox from the Android Market.
Go into it's menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state
First rest data then download fresh.
See if that helps.
Great idea..... But no :-( didn't work.
Another tidbit... When outside of a LTE area it works perfect. But if I'm inside a LTE area even forcing 3g and WiFi it'll revert. I think something is stored with the sim or some kind of cache somewhere
When you have GPS off are you connected to wifi.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
My GPS is always on. It just gets switched on by apps as they need them.
But I've confirmed this to be a LTE issue with my phone. I'm in lakeland in a non-LTE area and my location without using the GPS Status App is perfect. I have the issue whenever im in a LTE network regardless of WiFi or not.
Can someone else try this and see if its just me with the issue
I am unsure about your issue, but I also am in the TB area (travel from St Pete to Land O Lakes daily and am all over on a monthly basis, Hills, Pasco, Pinellas)
Have had few issues since the beginning when we all had terrible location issues, like states away. Just chimed in to confirm it isnt an area issue.
How are you confirming your location? I use the stock weather app to tell when its got issues

[Q] 3G and 4G ridiculously slow

Hi all
I recently got a new Nexus 5 (my old one decided to have a swim in the sea and is now in the shop for repair).
The issue I have with the new one (4.4.4 stock, rooted) is that 3G and 4G are extremely slow. Speedtest shows varying ping numbers (I have seen from 35ms to 2500ms), download is ridiculous (0.05mbit) and upload is quite good, surprisingly - around 5mbit.
I am in Greece and using Cosmote network. It doesn't seem to be a network issue because 2 friends with the same network and data package, one with Nexus 5 and the other with iphone 5, get great speeds (around 25-30 mbit).
At first I thought is was a SIM issue, since I was using the one that went for a swim. So I went and got a new SIM. Same problem.
I tried using another friends SIM from another network (WIND) on my phone, worked great. 27mbit.
The problem is the same with 3G and 4G.
Any ideas? Any ways to troubleshoot this better?
Have you checked your APN settings? That's the only thing I can think of at this point. I would check them against your friend who has an N5 on the same network and make sure everything matches exactly.
Checked it, they are the same. I talked with a Cosmote representative and they will look into my account settings in case something is wrong there. The only common denominator in the problem is my mobile account. Might have something to do with a trip I did abroad a few days ago and the roaming data limit that was imposed on my account after reaching 50mb d/l. Maybe they forgot to lift the limit when I returned to Greece.

Nexus 5 LTE weak signal reception.

Dear experts.
i have finally decided to share my ''unlucky epxerience'' with you.
i have got a serious problem which i have been fighting with since the first day i purchased my phone.
i have a white nexus 5 32 Gb version,D821 model.
and i'm from morocco, which means 4G will work for me because my phone is the indian version not the american version that doesn't support 4G in the rest of the world.
so,my problem is like that: when i first bought this phone i got stuck in ''emergency calls only'' for one week like every nexus 5 users did due to this known problem about the phone.
and after many reboots, clearing cashe, and searching manually for network,i got the signal again.
i never tried to switch to LTE mode, becuz i thought it would charge me a lot of data.
but, after a while i decided on and switched to LTE and got stuck again in emergency calls only !!!
i tried many things like contacting my carrier, searching manually, inserting another Sim card, force switching to LTe by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
but to no avail.
i decided to go to the nearest 4G tower and make sure if the problem had to do with 4G coverage or my phone's antenna.
then,i finally saw the LTE logo with full bar.
to sum up,now,i can't use 4G unless i'm near a 4G tower.
moreover, sometimes my phone loses signal even when i'm using only 3G which leads me to switch to 2G to catch the signal or reboot my phone many times and manually search for network.
i don't know if the problem has to do with the antenna or the bands of my phone.
and since i know nothing about flashing drivers or enabling bands.
i don't wana risk and end up by disabling any obviously enabled band.
i never took my phone to repair, because Lg service isn't available in my erea, plus i don't wanna give my phone to a dumb that would make it worse, because i fix my phone all by myself.
please help me solve this problem.
if anyone has any clue like repairing my 4G with octobox or trying to fix the antenna please.
any kind if suggestion is accepted.
best regards
Zakaria.
Edit : yesterday,i removed the back cover of my nexus 5 and found out that it's actually a D820
that's weird because rebooting the phone to bootloader it says D821 (H)
and i was wondering what does that (H) revers to ?
but the thing that confuses me is if it's actually a D820 why does it catches LTE near a 4G tower?
does that mean the bands are already enabled ?
do i still need to enable any other band to make it work properly ?
thank you so much in advance and waiting to hearing from you soon.

OnePlus One giffgaff/O2 POOR RECEPTION/ NO SERVICE

Hi,
I have recently purchased a used OnePlus One 16GB Unlocked phone from CEX, and it looks and performs great. However, upon trying my SIM it shows No Service/emergency calls only.
Ironically enough emergency calls arent possible either. I'm with giffgaff, (O2's network) and it would not make/receive calls where I live (West-London). Tried a Lebara sim too, same results.
IMEI number is fine, checked with CheckMend. Faffed about with APN settings, manually connecting to the network, but while I'm home it could hardly find O2's network and even then it shows no service. (usually finds EE and Vodafone but I haven't got those sims.)
Took it to work today and it seems to be working "fine" at work. What I mean by "fine" is that I can make/receive calls, watch HD youtube videos no problem, but download speed from various websites and from the play store would be about 20kb/s and connection would drop every now and then. Switching between 3G and 4G makes no difference whatsoever. Also tried the *#*#4636 options but if I switch preferred modes it doesn't save, it defaults to whatever it wants to upon reboot.
It improves outside of work and it's pretty usable, but it drops just before I get home. This area does have bad O2 coverage but with my old Samsung Galaxy S2 and sh*tty Sony Xperia E1 I always get a decent signal even at home.
So originally when I thought it had a dead antenna, I thought I would return and get a replacement, but upon googling around I found that OnePlus is at war with O2s network on some devices, so I might have the same issue. Flashing isn't really an option as I've never done it and even though I'm within 30 days I don't think I should brick it.
At this point if I get a replacement I might have the same issue, if I change networks I might have the same issue. I have a hard time convincing anyone at work to lend me their sims for a day.
Any advice would be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Could be band issue, but as you say it works on work(outside home) then for sure the sim is compatible with OPO bands.
This issue can be fixed by changing firmware of the device.
I know it would be seem hard at first but it's worth the work.Flashing firmware can greatly increase your signal strength and likely to cop out any issues with data and calls.
But first you need to flash Custom Recovery Twrp and before that you need to unlock the bootloader of your device.
To start with,

You don't need to do the root section, just the bootloader unlocking then flashing Twrp. Its easy.

Here's a firmware compilation thread just try them and use the one which suits your carrier the best.
Good luck

Possible phone security issue

Hey everyone i had a tower lte question that i hope someone can help me with. ive got a us cellular moto g play which i installed cm13 on and xposed. Im having issues with something that just seems strange to me. using the paid version of iwscan ive been monitoring cell and wifi activity and im constantly connected to two seperate lte towers at any given time and today i was connected to three until i reset the phone and changed it to 3g. my understanding of lte is that it chooses the stronger or less trafficed of two towers but never keeps more than one actively connected. am i paranoid and wrong about this? thanks in advance for you help guys.
