Hi, I have 2 smart phones called Turbo-X from Greece with 2 different versions of Android 4.4 and 6.0.
I am wondering if these phones can use the same version of android, either 4.4 or 6.0.
I don't use all of the features of Android but like having the possibility and noticed that certain features are either different or not available from one version to the next.
I read somewhere that it is possible to clone the operating system or load it from an android distribution.
Is this true?

Hello, everyone!
Brief history:
I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 8", model SM-T330, which I basically use for work. Lately, the app I use the most has launched a new update which only works on android 6.0 versions and newer. Since the latest update available for my tablet is the android 5.1, I tried searching online for alternative ways to update it, so it can suit my needs (which is btw how I ended up finding this forum). However, I only seem to find the updated kernel (6.0 and 7.0) for the SM-T330NU. I have done some research on these models and it seems that the only difference between them is that the later was designed for the north american market, although all the specs are essentially the same.
Quick question:
Anyway, is there any possibility to update my tablet with the SM-T330NU kernel? Will it work or is it more likely I'll have my tablet bricked?
PS: I don't plan on buying a new device if there is a slight chance I can get it updated by any means necessary.
Thanks in advance!
You could think to flash a custom ROM. Which app is this? If it's an app of videocall, neither custom ROMs can help since blobs are of lollipop and can't support Android 6.0+ apps.

Witch sucks .
I just like the old simple style of older android verisons. I only text, call and browse via mobile web browser on my phone so I don't need much in terms of apps. Is it even possible to run such old android version anymore? Is there a rom of an older version that is still maintained?
With regards to non-Google devices updates get provided by OEM/carrier, if ever. Hence ask OEM/carrier this question.
IMHO there is no need to upgrade your mobile if the apps you run don't require a higher Android version.

I'm currently using a pixel 1. I just wanted to flash AOSP 4 or 5 (KitKat and jellybean? Or ice cream?)

I still have a S4+ on Kitkat, don't use it but the OS operates fine except for gmaps which probably more a needed OS reload issue.
Lol, gmaps never runs "fine".
I have a honor kiw-l21 phone it has build kiw-l21c432b350 on emui 4.0 android 6.0.1. the thing is i need to update the version of android, since my banking app no longer supports android versions lower than 7. i have searched your site for a version of android that is 7 or grater. is there an official version to meet my requirement. I noticed that there is is a develeper version called lineageOS 17.1 is that my only solution or is there an official one i can use.
Updates get automatically rolled out by OEM/carrier if they consider it necessary.
What you mean is to upgrade your existing Android. This is never done by OEM/carrier.
IMO to upgrade to Android version 7 or higher you have to flash a corresponding Custom ROM like LineageOS.
But I may err, as always ...

You need to use test point method that needs opening your phone's back cover and that is kinda a pain for noobs. Need some research on your phone.

Cheers, I was hoping that Honor/huawei might have brought a newer version of EMUI out, I did update it when EMUI 4 came out, that update was from android 5 to 6.
Greetings!
It has been more than 7 years since I used Odin to re-install android 4.1.2 to my Samsung GT I8552 phone (I have ever since moved on to iPhone) By then android 4.1.2 was the latest. Now that time has changed and tech has grown, Can I do a clean installation of the LATEST android version (I checked and there is 6 and even 8++??) to this same old phone? Is Odin still the way to go? Please guide.
PS: I checked this link and it shows that the latest update was in 2015 and the latest version is still 4.1.2? I'm not clear what it means to this old model.
Thank you.
Update and Upgrade are 2 totally different things:
Update patches an existing Android version
Upgrade replaces an existing Android version by a higher versioned one

You are right. And, I meant to say "upgrade"
Hey all,
I have just bought an audi that comes with the android tablets for the kids in the back seat. They are running android 4.4.2 and no OTA updates are available to it. Due to its old OS, im having problems getting things like bluetooth controllers and even the play store to work correctly (intermittent downloads stuck on pending forever / stalling).
I have seen other tablets of the same variety running android 7 but cannot find the software anywhere on the internet to update to the custom build for these head units.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make this tablet a little more usable in 2023?
Thanks
Request the matching Android 7+ from OEM.
I have emailed the maker of the device, JET OPTO via their website but they havn't responded.
Does anyone know if rooting and custom rom would work on this - retaining its function with hdmi in etc?
I was thinking, another way around it is to use a ?firestick and miracast a phone?
Android 4.4.2 easily get rooted via so-called one-click-tools, i.e.

Hi
Same here. I cant find any info about update. There are some info that ppl have android 7 but no info how to do it. On audiworld someone did it by audi service. Ive made couple phones to service and no1 could tell me how tu update. Ive read somewher that rooting RSE III is very risky, it can freeze, then y can do nothing. In service the told me that they can change my old RSE to newer (silver one) cost is big. I dony want to risk that in couple years problem with update will be thisome. I think best way is to buy normal tablets andro or ios.
I can confirm taht you can update to oem audi android 7, already did it.
Hi, do you have the audi oem look files to update it?
I'm looking for the Android 7 update files for an RSEIII currently running on 4.4.2 as well.
Any news on this? I'm also looking for the update.
