How can the camera app take 50MP if our phone's hardware can't support it?
The idol 3 can only take 13MP, even if someone ported the app that's all it will take

by actually stitching zoomed pictures by the software thats what the color OS camera tricks to do it to make it to 50mp

This is my first post but i think some one will find it useful. Ukrainian developer going by the username B-S-G has modded the google pixel hdr camera app to work on snapdragon x820-x835 processors.
i have tested this on the leeco tv max x820 and it works perfect.#
but first i had to remove the stock camera via root uninstall system apps (see playstore).
i have attached a link to the camera app below.

Yeah, but all cameras on N ROMs have some sort of quirk for me. Maybe just takes some playing around with. Cam is only in bata, I'm guessing all cams will get better with time/source released....

I loaded onto my phone last night and it works just fine, even slo-mo video. I'm running Resurrection Remix-Nougat 5.8.4-20170813.
I've included a sample HDR+ photo, below, that was taken in relatively low light...

Cool , is it possible for you to have the same photo with hdr+ on and off so we can see how good it is?
Tested on my device, and its fantastic photos, even using flash only.

You're welcome. I was actually somewhat surprised at the difference it made for low light shoots. I'd normally switch to manual for something like that...

Google's hdr+ algorithm was praised a lot ... It seems to be working properly. Any problems with other modes of the camera...?
Can confirm that it crashes on EUI. Should I delete stock camera to make it work or?

i just installed RR just to test google camera and hdr+ ... i was on Crisbal's 26 v5 ...
Video works 1080p, panorama works, i will use alittle bit...
It's not work here (cuoco rom).

Don't think it will work on EUI, only on N-based ROMs.

In my testing latest versions are slow (low frame rate in camera viewer) and i' think the reason is ZSL turned on by default (when HDR+ is turned off - frame rate is normal).
My question for @Arnova8G2 or @cstark27 @Tolyan009 can you devs check this for us U12+ users... because we have great camera and full working GCam will bring us even better one.
Also when we get update to 9.0 things will be more compatible ( i hope somewhere around new year )
Put your expiriences,findings,test here, and let's all try to get better Gcam for our beloved U12+.

I confirm, on U12 + the MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1b.apk version works properly, selfi pictures are very green and fuzzy.
The MGC_6.1.013 version does not work with HDR +, it is very stablina, sometimes you can not take pictures.
What rom are you using?

Especially @5m4r7ph0n36uru I saw you posted informations about our smartphone on arnova thread, have you got a good app iteration?
I have tried one which gave me great Night Sight capture but the viewfinder is green so it's pretty unuseful when you don't have the time to switch between options to get the shot you want.

Are you using it on stock rom or Venom?
Because on stock rom on my U12+ Nightshift has lagy viewfinder,
and portrait mode with front camera is blury and green (green fix, fixes green but picture is blurry) =/

right now we can't do anything about nightshift lag. it works fine other than that.

And now? Doesn't mean HTC is worse than OnePlus. Actually if you look at their software, it's quite bad. Like one of the worst RAM management (exists since nougat or Oreo on their devices and few others things. So who cares if OP5/t has Pie already. We better wait for a properly working and bugfree system, then having bugs on pie which many other OEM have too and which google doesn't fix and let it do others ?

The viewfinder I got, but it is buggy. The aux doesn't work at all. The zoom is just based off the wide angle.
You were fast to snap for me to read, but not so fast to answer that the mod actually doesn't use the telephoto camera at all, simply relying on digital zoom with the wideangle.

Hopefully, and I hope for more control over the telephoto mode. I say "mode" because it appears to have been omitted in all reviews and discussions here:
-when in 2x/telephoto mode, even in sometimes moderate light, like on a shadowy street during a bright day, the camera will automatically revert to using digital zoom on the wideangle lens to sort of approximate the telephoto. I think it's BS. I was shooting in Malta last week where it's super bright, went into a shadowy street that was still bright and the telephoto went to wideangle crop. So I lose pixels and the noise looks worse.

You know this isn't a MUST HAVE, but it's nice that there's development, but not necessary at all. It's not like I can't shoot with the stock software, or use my u11 with zero issues, or buy an S9+ or a Pixel 2.
I tried different versions and so night sight laggy. does anyone know the solution? i have buffer fix enabled etc. Pocco f1 have fix for this, i not install this because not have twrp(warranty)..

If you're in Europe, you don't loose warranty by unlocking Bootloader, TWRP, root etc...

Latest arnova couldn't get the portrait selfie mode to work. Didn't test much else. I'll let you know if I find a completely stable one

I think I heard a reviewer say there was only 1 bugg and the rest works. It might have happend in my dreams.
Everything works for me in this version except switching between the triple cams:

so how does it work? we just install the app and use gcam app for the camera? I've never done it all. don't get my phone until 7 days away
I'll post pics later for comparison, but the pics on the Gcam are much better. Colors and dynamic range are way better - low light is no competition.
Installed it and it freezes on the camera as soon as I open it.

Don't know why it's not working for me. Frame gets stuck at opening... Nothing after that
I can get it to work but it will not let me change the back camera to the 48mp camera 12 is the highest it will go.
Here are some samples. Photo 1 is regular cam photo 2 is GCam mod.
The first looked much better to me.

I believe I found a perfect GCAM 6.2.030 for RN4X. Stable and all functions works.

Go to MORE -> CONFIG->click on F1 Mod Settings and Change Back cam to Piexel 2XL and Front Cam to Nexus 5X and it will solve the green photo.

Sorru for my bad, work fine on latest AEX
Works but crashes without warning if I don't make 5 seconds pause between shots on Syberia OS latest.
Edit: Never mind. Crashes after any shot. Useless for me. Thanks anyway.
