Disable SIM Card - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Due to my Shield Tablet having a SIM card, YouTube TV is classifying it as a mobile device thus blocking NFL content in the process. Since I use it WiFi only, I have no need for the SIM card to begin with. Has anyone had any luck disabling this via build.prop or any other methods? Perhaps flashing the WiFi recovery ROM is an option as well?

App2SD question

I have a LG ally from verizon but the actual service is not on and i was wondering is there a way that i can still get apps by having a active phone download apps to the SD via A2SD from the android market and place that sd card into my phone and have the same app or transfer it from the sd card?
any input would be appreciated.
yes
yes there are some sites out there that allow you to download apps to your PC
BUT if you have a wireless router, u can download from android market using WiFi
no cell service required!
another option is to go to a cafe that has free WiFi near you and sit outside and download
hope this helped

Xfinity TV app: Any way to keep downloaded offline movies?

hi! I recently moved from a xfinity area so i cancelled my service 3 WEEKS AGO and they said billing would end...however my service is shockingly still going as I was able to download The Muppets from Xfinity TV app and it works offline turning data and wifi off..but..where is it on my phone??
It HAS to be somewhere as I had to remove several apps as it ran out of space and my phone and my samsung device let me know this.it's NOT on the SD card. .I looked in the root in data/data/xfinity.tv area and nothing in the internal memory either that I could find....any way I could move the movie to my SD card? or no dice = /

Any way to read phone data via pc in bootloader mode?

Hi, I have a HTC 7 Pro that I believe has partially corrupted data on the SD card causing it to fail to boot.
If you try and start the phone it just hangs on the HTC splash screen but if you remove the SD card or replace it with another it will boot windows to the point of getting the corrupted, changed or missing SD card message and won't let me access the o.s, just emergency calls.
This leads me to believe that the data has some kind of corruption on the SD card that is loaded as windows boots and rather than giving the error message its actually crashing the boot.
The physical SD card is not important to me but the data that is on the phone or SD card (I know its spread a cross the two and encrypted to that device) is important and desperately want to get anything I can from the phone if its possible.
The data I want is photos and videos, there loads I could loose without really caring but I had the only photos and videos of our daughters 3rd birthday on it and due to my pc suffering Mainboard failure, I had not been backing up to one of my drives. I don't use auto upload on SkyDrive as it does it automatically regardless of weather your on WiFi or your mobile data and I don't want it hammering the mobile connection!
like it was done just to wind you up, Windows phone SkyDrive app also makes you upload files one by one rather than being able to select groups of files and upload at same time so I did not back up via SkyDrive manually when on wifi cos it was insanely long winded, agghhhh!
So what I would like to know is of any method at all that I could read the content of the phone without booting it?
With the card out, the phone will boot to the point where it has loaded the bulk of the o.s and things like the battery meter, WiFi icon, locks screen ECT are all working but just won't let me past the error screen.
I also fear the main of what I want is on the SD card which is preventing it booting at all if installed so reading the phone in b loader seems like the only option if its even possible.
Any help on this would be massively appreciated.
Thanks, Steve.

[GUIDE][ROOT][FIX] Re-enable disabled eSIM.me card when no sim card is detected. (may work for all sim cards)

So. This seem to be a rare but still unresolved problem effecting users on all brands of phones using eSIM.me sim cards. Google does not turn up much other than the typical 5-9 steps including re-seating your card, restarting your phone and eventually the last resort... resetting your phone. One of these steps might help some typical cases but this one is a little bit different. A full reset would definitely work but I'm not gonna reset my phone if i can help it.
The problem starts with Android 11. Since 11, Sim card enable/disable status and all related card settings get stored and will be remembered. This is convenient when you swap cards frequently.
But for eSIM.me cards this seems to be problematic. The way they work makes it possible to unintentionally disable the card and not being able to enable it again. there is no conventional way to enable the card or any of the esims stored on it once this happens.
BUT i figured out a way to fix this. Unfortunately you need root access. If you don't already have this your only option is a full reset.
[GUIDE]
Prerequisites:
First of all. you need ROOT.
The data you need to edit is stored in a sqlite database so you need a sqlite editor. This one is adequate: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomminosoftware.sqliteeditor
Step 1.
Launch SQLite Database Editor.
Navigate to the package com.android.providers.telephony. This is normally located under /data/data but if its read only and you have magisk root you can find it under /data_mirror/data_de/null/0.
once there go to databases and open telephony.db
Step 2.
Inside telephony.db you'll find a table named "siminfo". Open it.
Step 3.
Now you see a table with all current and previous sim cards that have been mounted to your phone.
From here you have a couple of options. You can identify the card you have issue with and set "uicc_applications_enabled" to 1.
Or you can simply remove all rows in the table and start fresh.
To identify a sim the icc_id is usually printed on the card itself or in case of eSIM.me you'll find it in their app under each esim profile.
Step 4.
Remove and reinsert your card to apply the changes. Or restart your phone.
All done. Everything should be back to normal.
I ran into the similar problem too earlier.
I didn't have root but used this workaround.
1. Remove esim.me card and insert it in a different phone. Now estim.me card will work.
2. Go to your sim provider website and generate a new eSIM activation code. This part requires OTP which you will be able receive.
3. Insert SIM in your main phone again. Open esim.me app and provision a new esim card. Don't delete the old one while you are testing to be on safe side.
It should provision the same number as a new esim. Problem solved.
Of course, don't ever accidentally disable SIM card ever again.

SIM not detected anymore disabling a SIM

I have Oneplus 8T with Android 13.
My SIM was on Slot 2 yesterday. Then I accidentally clicked on "Disable SIM".
Now it says "No eSIM" "Disable eSIM to u.." (it only shows second line partially) when I insert it in Slot 2.
When I insert it in Slot 1, it says "No SIM card detected".
Note:
1. If I use any other SIM, it works on either slots.
2. When I this SIM on other android phones or even a feature phone, it works correctly without any issue whatsoever.
3. I've already tried the "Reset Network Settings" feature. Ideally I don't want to reset my phone completely
Have the same issue too, can't figure out any way to fix other than getting them to send out a new SIM card each time...
Anyone else have any other ideas?
(Edit, just realised this is on a 8T forum, mines a 9 Pro... seems to affect lots of OP devices)
I factory reset the device - SIM starts working immediately. Disable SIM 1 and the phone instantly forgets it again...
Back to wiping it all over again. Thought I'd rather test it now before I set it all up

Click to collapse
Try deleting data for the settings app
