It seems they have removed this. It was a main reason for me to use Samsung. Anyone know how to get this working on S8+? Rooted, Tasker etc? Would love to have answer with home button back.
You can still answer calls pressing Volume Up in the accessibility settings.

I search this specific forum but couldn't find anything on this topic.
I was wondering if it was possible to put a hot key or button or something on the lock screen or even on one of the pages to silence the phone with out having to turn it down manually with the rocker switch?
I had a motorola atrix 2 and it had something on it's locked screen to silence and unsilence the phone.
Of course I also like the locked screen on the atrix 2 better then my skyrocket but that and the silence button are the only 2 things I liked over my skyrocket.
Any advice or help would be great.
Thank you
You can enable the "Turn Over" motion feature to mute incoming calls and sounds. No need to press buttons.
See if that works for you.
That is awesome, thank you for the suggestion but I was thinking more along the lines of forgetting to silence your phone in say a meeting. Instead of having to unlock the phone and press the volume down button till silent, can I put a volume on / vibrate mode widget or something on my lock screen.

You can replace your lockscreen and use something like widgetlocker. And you can add whatever widget, slider action or shortcut you want. Search the market for other options.
Thanks a lot widget locker works great and does exactly what I want.

The only hardware buttons I have are Power and Esc.. oddly. Valid answers do not involve rooting or connecting other devices.
Cheers

Set one of your soft keys "long press" to screenshot,,, not all ROMs have this ability though
Amazing that someone actually said "volume down and power"...
Anyway turns out you just go to settings > screenshot settings > enable button. Or something like that. All very obvious really.

Almost all ICS+ devices have Volume Down + Power button for screenshot if I'm not wrong. That's why I said it

Are you running a custom ROM or is it stock AOSP?

Again, this is already answered. And again by me. Doesn't this forum have a "mark as answered" button?
Come to think of it the last time I got an answer here was probably before these forums included Android. Not sure why I still bother..
I can not find the "Sound" icon in the notification bar? Without using the volume buttons, how can I mute the phone?
Paul
Long press power button, click silent.

NFC tag?
I did say without Volume Keys and a widget is no good. Thanks for being so helpful.
Great THANKYOU, just what i needed, a way to quickly silence the phone. Always had Samsung's before this.

Hello!
Recently, I was able to disable the Bixby button simply by clicking on the Bixby button, going to settings, and selecting the disable button option. That option appears to have vanished and I don't know how else to disable it now.
If anyone has seen this issue please let me know!
I can't help you with your problem but I use the Bixby remapper app and i changed it to open Google assistant. Pretty simple.
Watched the same thing today, searched tho whole internet but nobody seems to have the same problem?
I use BK Disabler. Try it, works really well!
I use bxActions from the Play store. Works great, even on the new Oreo builds.
You could just open the phone, cut the ribbon to that button....:cyclops:
Long press on any open home screen. Swipe right until getting you to Bixby home. Then turn off. You can also turn off her voice in settings on that page. And pressing button does nothing
Also there is apps in the play store to remap the button (no root) to do something else. Now my button for Bixby takes a SS.
Do it in the Bixby app. I disabled my button today in Bixby settings

Hi XDA community,
Yesterday I was remapping and customizing my first Samsung device. I don't know what I did either on Good Lock or on the settings or anywhere else, but somehow I set my side key to flashlight when holding down the side key button. I remember changing side key button to Power off menu. Please help, this is driving me nuts . Thank you in advance.

Look for "Double Press" using the settings search tool,it'll take you right to it & turn it off.

Hi thank you for your response. My Double Press is currently set to Quick launch camera, I'm good with this. But the Press and hold is set to Power off menu, but instead it turns on the flashlight,
Thank you I found it. I set in bixby routines. lol

I was just getting ready to suggest going into the Bixby settings, as I didn't find anything in any of the GoodLock modules that I have installed.
I currently have Bixby disabled by a desktop client (ADB AppControl), otherwise, that would have been my next move.
Glad you got that resolved.
