[Q] Ringer on/off - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I search this specific forum but couldn't find anything on this topic.
I was wondering if it was possible to put a hot key or button or something on the lock screen or even on one of the pages to silence the phone with out having to turn it down manually with the rocker switch?
I had a motorola atrix 2 and it had something on it's locked screen to silence and unsilence the phone.
Of course I also like the locked screen on the atrix 2 better then my skyrocket but that and the silence button are the only 2 things I liked over my skyrocket.
Any advice or help would be great.
Thank you

You can enable the "Turn Over" motion feature to mute incoming calls and sounds. No need to press buttons.
See if that works for you.

That is awesome, thank you for the suggestion but I was thinking more along the lines of forgetting to silence your phone in say a meeting. Instead of having to unlock the phone and press the volume down button till silent, can I put a volume on / vibrate mode widget or something on my lock screen.

You can replace your lockscreen and use something like widgetlocker. And you can add whatever widget, slider action or shortcut you want. Search the market for other options.

Thanks a lot widget locker works great and does exactly what I want.

[REQest] Trackball wake for EVO

Hey I'd love to work on this but I'm not sure where to start so I'll request it. I'd like to see something like trackball wake for the Nexus but use the volume button on the EVO. Also the menu button unlock so we don't have to swipe. I know Metalhead now has the menu unlock on the market. It doesn't seem to work, but maybe he can tweek it too.
What trackball?
He said he would like to see something LIKE the trackball wake but using the volume keys because we dont have a trackball.

If anyone finds an app or something that will allow the EVO to wake from the 4 front buttons please let me know either on here or PM. Its the only feature keeping me from getting an EVO.
No I'm not as picky as it sounds lol, its a dexterity issue.
i would say you woul want it to be one of the touch buttons on front since you would always hit em by mistakednt
Double tap of the menu would work for me, I'd even prefer it but I assume that the driver and hardware for the screen and for the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen are the same. While we could always leave the screen on and watch for touch input all the time I think it would kill the battery.
But if someone knows of the soft buttons using a separate driver or hardware then we could consider it.
What I was suggesting was to go from off to using it press the volume down key and then menu vs. pressing power then swiping the screen unlock thing. Of course you could do the volume and then swipe too, but the menu button would be a added benefit.

App to silent all sounds?

Is there any app for the xoom that will turn off all sounds for things like meetings? On the phones, there is one where all you do is press the power button and then choose silent sounds. Thanks!
Tasker , you have to do a step by step config , or try silent mode timer .
use the volume key to bring up the volume on the screen then click on the speaker, mutes everythng.
Lordao
OP: Use what he said in the post above. It's built into the system, and literally takes half a second to do. That's what it's there for, right?
volume plus(+) app. it has two widgets, one is a profile shuffler. three profiles so either one or two clicks on your homescreen.
probably beats having to bring up settings or pressing the a bit hard to press volume keys.

This works well for the alarms and ringers, but certain apps *ALWAYS* ignore this setting and use full volume anyways.
Personally, I like and use Quick Settings. It works very well and lets you change settings quickly. You can quickly choose between silent, vibrate, sound only, or sound and vibrate with it.
I use AudioManager. You can set up widgets for whatever sounds you want/dont want.
i.e. I have 4. One for only Media sounds. One for only Systems sounds. One for all to be up, and one for all to be off. You create the widget and press it once and then profile will be applied. You can set each setting to a specific volume. For example, if you want to watch movies at a certain volume, create the widget, during the creation, choose the sound volume and save it. Same can be done for music. You can create a widget to have some sounds on, and some off. Its totally customizable and i highly recommend it.
They have a pro version as well.

I forgot there were physical volume keys. Thanks for the pointer except it only handles 2 of the 3 things that has sound to it. If you went to settings and then sound, you will notice that the third one with the clock is not set from the volume keys. The 2nd one is when you click on the 3 sliders icon on the right side after clicking on the volume button.
With phones, I use Silent Mode Jammer which basically turns off all sounds when pressing the power button but on the Xoom, even with Silent Mode Jammer enabled, pressing the power button only allows shutdown of the device.
Xoom doesn't vibrate are you using this for silence?

I installed Volume+, the paid version and I don't see the widgets when I tried to add widgets to the home screen, what is it called? Is Volume+ the app with the volume knob for it's icon?

Never thought about it lacking vibrate. LOL. Haven't found anything to silence it other than using the settings and the 3 sliders manually.

[Q] total mute

I've been looking all over xda but can't seem to find the next thing:
Is there allready an app or a homebrew app available that let's WP users mute their phone very easily? As well as sound ass vibration.
It is pretty annoying I always have to change it in the settings.
Regards!
There is a volume-control app (in the dev&hacking sub-forum, I believe) but I admit to finding the request odd; why not just hold down the Volume Down button? If you have vibration enabled and want to turn that off too, you'll also need to turn on the screen for a sec (no need to unlock it, though).
Normally my phone is on vibrate + ring
When I'm in a normal meeting it is on Vibrate only
When I'm asleep/ important meeting/... its muted completely. No vibrating, no ringing.
It is pretty easy to switch between the first two. But to get it completely muted I always have to go via the ringtone settings.
If I hold the volume down to zero it will always keep on vibrating. I don't seem to get your point?
Ah, my bad. It used to toggle between Vibrate and Silent when you tapped the button on the screen. Now it just toggles the ringer; you can't disable the vigrate from there anymore. Dumb...

Are there any apps that enable volume rocker wake?

Thanks in advance!
WidgetLocker has the ability
Just tried it, checked the box in settings, but no dice
Uninstalled and got a refund.
Any others?
no lock?
or
Screen Off and Lock?
Thanks, already tried both of them because they worked on my og evo, but no such luck
Coming from the galaxy s2 I do miss the power button on the side, hoping to find a solution still

Actually, I used to have a Nexus One and the power button was broken. To circumvent that, I had to use an app called AnyUnlock. I turned the screen on with the volume rocker and you could also use a widget to turn the screen off (rather than using the power button to turn the screen off). Which I suppose could be useful if you have smaller fingers or something and didn't want to make the reach. Very, very useful app when your power button stops functioning.

I'm sure it uses the same method that the other apps use and it even says in the description on their app page that it only works on Froyo and GB.
Yea seems like all of them don't work with ics urrrrrrrrr

Volume Rocker Wake works on CM9 Alpha 5
I've been using CM9 Alpha 5 for a few hours now and it's great !
The first think I set was the Volume Rocker Wake as the Power Button is not as easy to press when using most cases covering the power button.
To enable it, go to SETTING --> DISPLAY --> VOLUME ROCKER WAKE
it enables waking the phone by pressing the volume rocker EITHER up/down.
There is no way to specify one or the other
However, it works great ! I'm really liking CM9, my only complaint is the missing HTC Camera which was just amazing with the hardware burst (I'm still looking for a way to flash it if that's even possible).

[Q] Silent mode

Hi guys
Is there a way of putting the phone on silent without having to 'open' the phone and then use the volume keys?
I'm coming from an iphone and in meetings I just used to slide a switch. I know the Z3 doesn't have that of course - but is there a way of doing it without waking the phone?

Yeah, iPhones have that dedicated hardware switch for that. Unfortunately, the Z3 does not have that as far as I know.
EDIT: Actually, you can push the power button once, then push and hold it again to open up a menu, then press the silent button. It's not a single switch, but it doesn't have to unlock the phone.
Yea.
The sound toggle menu works from the Lockscreen. The IPhone does have the hw switch, but its not switching to silent, hence the vibration is active. With android you can choose between sound, silent or vibrate. I prefer this over the IPhone way.
There is a setting wherein all you have to do is turn the phone face down. It's in Personalization, Motion. Haven't used it nor have I tested it on multiple calls.
