I am new user of this amazing phone. I bought it online, with root state and it seems being tricked to be able to use GSM card.
So many problem that I find from this rooted phone.
- 4G LTE network is so poor. Hard to stay on LTE.
- Download speed is only about 0.1 MBPS while Upload can reach more than 15 MBPS
I just need the solution for this issue, Hope someone could help.
thanks

There is not much you can change out of the box to optimize performance. If you have the Tilt from AT&T then you are really screwed, since that ROM has so much bloat ware on it.
If you have the tilt you can do a hard reset, followed by a soft reset when it starts configure AT&T's bloat ware. This will give you the stripped down version of the ROM and you will still have AT&T's network settings. If that's not enough you can install Hard SPL and then flash any ROM you want. There are some stripped down just to the barebones. Finally, you can install the KaiserTweak which will let you choose how the Kaiser takes advantage of the RAM for the different caches.
I have the Kaiser.
I have 3G in my town but I am not impressed with the speed.
I thought maybe a few settings tweaks could improve it...
Are you talking about Download Speed or Performance Speed??
not sure if you are trying to improve network connection speeds or the device performance speeds? 3G only affects your internet connection speeds and has nothing to do with how quickly your device operates.
If you are not getting browsing speeds of at least over 300/kbs you might not have a 3G sim card. In that case you need to contact your carrier and request a 3G - 64K sim card.
Here is a link where you can test your connection speed. Make sure you see the 3G icon and you have a good signal.

I have the old Cingular Orange SIM Card. It says 64K smartchip in the front and 3G in the back.
Do you think this may be the cause of my slow speeds?

I am wondering the same thing. Does anyone know if there is a difference b/w the cingular 3G SIM vs the AT&T 3G SIM?
I have got my TyTn II two days back.
There seems to be some problem with Internet Speed whether it is on PIE or Opera 8.65 or Opera Mini. The problem is this:
1) On my HTC Touch I could get speeds of 250 Kilobits / second on my Edge connection. (There is no 3G in my country)
2) Now I have placed the SIM from the Touch to the TyTn II and my speeds have been almost halved. I cannot get more than 100 - 120 Kilobits / Second.
3) The Internet connection on both devices is configured exactly the same. I have tried numerous times but when the SIM is in the Touch I get 250 kbs but when the same SIM is in the TyTn II I get 100 Kilobits per second.
4) I use "Hudsonmobile Ipdashboard" to measure speeds in real time and this program gives a graph of the upload / download / total speeds.
Can somebody please help as this excellent device is being marred slow Internet connections.
Has anyone else noticed this.
Thanks
Someone help me understand how this is possible please.
I just got a new sensation today. I don't have 3G/4G in my area but so far I get the best signal with T-Mobile.
I was checking my speed via the stock browser with www.mobilespeedtest.com and here are my results.
I put my sim in an HD2 running WP7 and did the same test and get pretty much the same results. But there was one that just blew me away.
10728kbps ?????
They cant be true. Something is either wrong with the site or I need someone to help figure out how I make my phone have that kind of connection all the time even while not being in a 3G/4G area.
I know that the radio was a problem on the NS4g last summer (my friend got one, then returned it for an evo because she couldn't get a data connection) and I thought it had been taken care of by now. My wife's phone was stolen last night and I found a NS4g for 120 (only used for 2 days!) on craigslist so I went for it. Anyway, I tried connecting to 4g and it is sporadic. I placed my e3d next to it and they both showed 1 bar, but my e3d achieved 3.5 Mbs and her ns4g got 800 kbs.
So my question is: does 4g still suck? If so, can I mitigate that with a different rom (I am completely stock at the moment). Please help me out since we both use 4g pretty regularly.
Soooo, I guess by the large amount of views and lack of responses, that I have stumbled across one of those questions that I am not supposed to ask. Perhaps this is one that has been asked ad nauseum and is thus being ignored??? I do apologize if that is the case, but I can't seem to find the right search terms to bring up a discussion of if the radios were ever fixed and if there are any ROMs which mitigate the weak signal. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be appreciated, if not, I will let this thread die.
Well I am sorry as I am on T mobile with an I9020T ...... Not sure about Sprint network .
But from the numbers you mentioned , 3.5 megabits per sec isn't that high !! even on 3G I get sometimes a higher speeds ... I think I didn't miss much going with a 3G device not with a 4G one !!
BTW , what android version and radio you're on currently ? did this NS4G got any OTA as you start using it ? did you ask Sprint about the issue ?
Goodluck

On the sprint network 3g is like 1x. LOL I usually get somewhere around 300k on 3g (thus the importance of 4g). To be fair, I only had one bar on 4g (I usually get around 7-8 M on wimax). Anyway, I made sure to manually request all the updates through the menu and I am all up to date. Android version is 2.37 I believe, but am unsure since the wife has the phone and is away at the moment. radio? not sure. I haven't asked sprint about it yet. I just wanted to check here to see.
So, I flashed CM11 today, and I'm not sure if it's just this specific rom or what (I had poweruser modified stock before) and it seems like my data speeds are really slow.
I had 5 bars with H+ (yes not LTE I know) but I was only getting 1 mb/s down speed.
Is there a baseband I can flash or some type of modem. Does anyone else have this issue?
Bump
Well,
I'm sorry that I can't exactly help your situation, But I can say that I am having a very similar issue. I am running D800 AT&T, CloudyStock V2.0 with dr87's Simple Kernel V5. Only have one APN, which the the Phone APN. Now, I do receive LTE, it also shows up on my phone as 4G.
I have also changed that lil bit in the Build.prop to my destination Country, which is US. But, anyway, After all of this I can only get maybe 2mbps downloads and if i'm lucky I will pull 1mbps upload.
I know for a fact that the LTE in my town is not that slow. I'm not really sure what is going on either.
Before I had CloudyStock on my G2 I could get around 11-12mps downloads with 4-5mbps uploads.
Sorry that I can't really help you out OP. I need help as well.
Since you mentioned, I have an AT&T with a T-mobile micro sim and the network signal (not data) has been very poor since I got the phone. Usually just 2 or 3 bars and completely lost the signal when I got down to the subway underground. I noticed that people were still using their phones while on the train so they could actually receive signals. I believe it's something to do with the sim but not for sure. I haven't had a chance to borrow anyone else's sim to try on mine so I couldn't really tell. I'm running CM 11 as well and I think the battery life has been reduced because of the weak network signal
Any help?
I bought the phone just recently march 22 and I been having this problem for about 3 weeks now and today I realize what was the problem. first I thought it was my carrier throttling my data but it was not my carrier. I swap sim cards on my phone and I notice that on 4G phone works perfectly fine. But once the phone goes into 4g LTE i still get some download speed but my upload speed is practically 0. And since there is no way to toggle off LTE I been practically living without data. But I found some useful apps that can remove LTE and leave me with just 4G but it is annoying to have this problem. Does anyone know what kind of problem this is? is it hardware or software problem? any help would be greatly appreciated.
