how did you do it?

Reprogram the modem simply

The modem firmware is signed with an RSA cert and is checked by the XBL on boot. If there are any modifications, it will not load it.
Code:
hexdump -C modem | grep -i rootca
0001b770 4c 47 45 20 72 6f 6f 74 63 61 31 0c 30 0a 06 03 |[B]LGE rootca1.0...[/B]|
So, are you asking if it can be done, or are you saying that you figured out how to modify signed firmware? I am confused....
Also, while the radios may be cable of the bands, all models don't have all have the antennas needed.
If you managed to modify signed firmware, I would be real interested in the exploit.
-- Brian

ya, this correct it signed and checked every signal booting but we speak on unlooking boot model so every thing is possible
i can not modify signed but i can stop checking it so it possible and i do (can see the pic)
all bands from 1 to 44
before that i was not have network in my pleass ,mobile for usa and i live in eu but now i get 3g and 4g after unlock all those bands

If I remember correct, unlocking the bootloader only disables the RSA cert checking of system, boot and recovery partitions and nothing more. This check is embedded in aboot and any modification of it would result in a 9008 mode which is big trouble. I find this information suspicious unless you can provide real proof like video or something else.

In end i do it when i have time i will be everything clearly
Also i will make video when i back to Home
Now i only sure about lte bands only 15-16 not work with me because there are not have antina for this bands

Could you please write how you did the unlock, like a guide?

can you support also LG G5?

Not really sure what the purpose for this thread is?
I don't see anything to download, no steps to do manually or any type of guide for the mod.
Only thing I really see besides the screenshots of whatever is a link to paypal for donations....
Also, I can't speak for other devices/carriers, but my H918 with Tmo only has 3 bands that work.
My fullscreen caller ID mod has an option in the app for various hidden settings, one of which is band selections.
IDK... If OP had something useful that users could works with, then I could see the point of this thread, but posting pics of stuff that isn't available or in the works to be shared is kindof useless.
If OP supplies guide or instruction for mod, great, thank you, otherwise I suggest people simply move on. No point posting here

hello, im interested in this!
im running an unlocked vs995
i tried putting my ATT sim and all i got was 3g and HSPA
then i rooted and installed i have the WETA 5.0.7 rom using the US996 firmware
i now get 4G and sometimes 4G LTE
the problem with that is some of the bands dont work
and either in global network or the GSM/LTE the signal drops
My question is, will this be able to fix that???

Please can u tell us how to do this? I need to switch to another network on band 28 but H910 does not support it.

Hey guys you can get "network signal guru" from Google play store.

[Q] Is it possible to add CSC from SGS to SNS (Nexus S)?

the phone is working fine
except instead of showing the Name of my cell phone provider, it only shows the tower ID number.
I was supposed to see:
Wind (Home)
or
Wind (Away)
they show up properly on my SGS and XT720
Ironically, with the SNS, i did not even have to configure the APN settings, it automatically got both the MMS and Internet APN settings.
kinda funny if you ask me, it knows the Wind internet and multimedia settings but can't report the tower names
if i use the Wind (Away) towers i get charged roaming
so ideally i'd like to only use Wind (Home) similar to Tmobile Zones towers for my 3G and voice, to not see a huge bill at the end of the month
This thread on Howard Forums might interest you if you haven't found it already. Seems like the difference is that Wind sends out number instead of name if I read it correctly.
You might be able to edit the eri.xml file to deal with this, as instructed in this thread on xda for AOSP roms.
As far as CSC goes, I don't think the NS uses that. I've never seen it mentioned in discussions about other devices besides the Galaxy S line of phones using Samsung ROMs.
P.S. - be careful messing with the frameworks apk. I made a bad edit to the one on my i9000 once and it wouldn't boot. Easy enough to fix by replacing with a good copy, though.
Thanks for those 2 links
I'll check them out.
That's very helpful, if it's a simple edit of the file
I've been busy jumping between the 3 forum, and fixing the SGS i9000m to work properly, which i just got back yesterday, and it pretty much died on me right away after upgrading to JL2 and restoring only the backup for user app+user app settings (no system app/data restored)
Heh I've been wondering about this too... but seeing "302490" instead of "Wind (Home)" doesn't really bother me that much... I'll know if it's Wind Away when the number is different lol.

Yeah, that's what some in the Howard Forums say; as long as they know they're not roaming. When you're on Wind Away, does the "roaming" indicator show? The framework shows there's a flag for it.
I would be with Allgamer myself; I'd like the proper carrier name to show.
well New Year eve is here
and the "long weekend" is starting soon
if i have time after the parties and stuff to work on the quick fix, i'll upload the file to share for the rest of the XDAers on Wind Mobile
There's an easy fix for that.
On the dialing screen, dial *#*#4636#*#*
Phone information->choose WCDMA only (Wind runs on 3G only).

Assuming it actually works...
Looking forward to hearing the results, even though the issue doesn't affect me.
i spend time trying a few this morning and nothing....
because there is only 1 SPACE !!!!! available to Hex Edit a letter into the xml file
i tried the other method they mentioned further down into the topic, and it was not compatible
good thing i was flashing my phone a few times.
running TW ROM right now.
so in the end, it is Do able, but we only get 1 letter out of it.... which IMO is worse than seeing the full row of numbers 302490

wifi calling?

Does the M Mix 2S support Wifi calling?
I'm in the UK and can't find anything about it.
i cant answer that but you can find a wifi calling setting in the settings if you search for it. Unfortunately it doesnt do anything as far as I can tell
Need some input...
So, I normally don't give a hoot about wifi calling, as the signal is normally super strong in my area. However, we have moved into a new building and now I desperately need VoWiFi.
This thread for the Poco F1, they were able to at least get the settings enabled on the device by editing the build.prop. I posed the question to see if they were on MIUI to get these working, but have not heard back. I have tried to edit the build.prop file on my own but essentially just end up with a paperweight at the end, having to wipe system and restore properly.
Hoping someone else may be able to provide some input on this. I am more than willing to flash my device multiple times in order to test this out. Anyone game for at least getting the toggles enabled to see if it works?

I have the options in settings, however the radios are disabled on the phone. If you dial *#*#4636#*#* - It will pull up the phone information window. If you click on phone information, you'll see all the radios greyed out and you cannot toggle them to enable.
What I am attempting is to edit the build.prop like they did in the Poco F1 thread to get the radios toggled to the on position. I am just so unqualified in that field that I need assistance, but willing to sacrifice my time and possibly soft bricking device several times for testing.
Edit: Been trying to upload this for ages. Gave up, here is the image url...

I don't want to clog this thread for now, but so far I have been making progress. I am also running AOSP, not MIUI, so that is a huge deal if I can manage to work it out.

Was able to get the radios enabled, now I just need to get my PC to recognize the phone/com port in QPST. This thread has the guide for Poco F1. If I am able to get it done, I will create a guide in our section as well, of course full credits go to @der_Kief for this. Cross some fingers folks.

Edit: I was unable to get the device to work on WiFi calling on commercial-TMO settings following the guide above. With that said however they have all the US based carriers as options to enable the wifi calling slot. If anyone want to try it out, it may be worth a shot. I was able to get just as far running AOSP and MIUI, same behavior. VoLTE works great doing this, and at least on my money saving MVNO, I wasn't able to get it going. Someone on an actual T-Mobile plan may get theirs to work, I'm on MetroPCS.
try this

After disabling carrier check via a special code and making sure your provider has the service enabled it works. At least for the primary SIM.
Now if anyone know whether dual SIM WiFi calling is possible please enlighten us!

LG Velvet Hidden Menu code

Enjoy: #*462633*#900#
Works with G900EM
Haven't tried yet but what does this do?
Good day
Thank you very much for this "secret code" that leads us to an important hidden menu.
I could finally activate 5G option through this menu although there's no option for it in the regular standard setting (only up to 4G. I have now under Network mode setting, preferred "26". So no 4G, LTE, or 5G preferred, but it works this way, it will automatically switch between 3G, 4G or 5G. Finally found a way
I'll post the path on another thread and link it here.
Edit: here is my post about how to activate 5G network option on the Velvet, thanks again for the code:

Use the LG phone app to insert the code. Problem can also be it's a specific model number. This code works for any European unlocked Velvet G900EM and probably other global unlocked models.
I can confirm it works from the LG phone app and also works on model: G910EMW (4G version), by changing the code to: #*462633*#910#

can confirm it works with the LG LM-G902V (unbranded?) Velvet 5G, only replace the ....*#900# with ...*#902# ....can this hidden menu be used for enabling adb debug capabilities via usb? Okay, just in case anyone is still trying to access the hidden menu on the LG Velvet, specifically the Verizon model, LM-G900VM, I have some good news for you.
I noticed that this is the first post that pops up on most internet searches when looking for the Verizon and/or LG Velvet hidden menu. So, I wanted to have the right information on hand for anyone looking for the same thing that a lot of us we're trying to figure out.
What can I say, I like having all the correct and most efficient answers right here on XDA!
I am running my LM-G900VM on Android 12, software build G900VM30d, but this should work for any Verizon LG Velvet regardless of software currently being run on your device.
I would go one step further and say that your software should be considered "Official" for the code to run correctly.
And if you ARE on the same device as me and you have figured out through your magic hands how's to acquire custom firmware, root access, and/or bootloader unlock access, I think it goes without saying, PLEASE get in touch with me so I can learn your ways! Haha.
Okay, so here we go... You are simply going to open up the dialer or "phone app" on your Velvet and type in the following code:
##7764726900
[Code stands for ##PROGRAM900 typed out on the dial pad...the 900 is representing the model number of the LG Velvet, I have heard that this works with other newer model LG phones such as the 910 for example!]
So, after you have the first code on your dial screen, push the green "dial" button and you will see a prompt on the screen that asks you to enter in a "Service Code". Enter in the following:
000000
(Six zeros)
There's no need to push okay or anything like that, once you have entered in the service code, you should be in the menu. Enjoy. Hope this helps someone out there!
Cheers.

Thank you stevefalk42, probably works with the american models. Doesn't work with the sim free european model, but we can access most of your hidden menus using #*462633*#900# code.
I tried your code on the korean V50S (510N) changing the ending number to 510 or 500 but it doesn't work either.
Maybe it would by typing ##PROGRAM510 in korean? Someone can help with the right numbers?

Reason to Root Fold 2

I have an unlocked Fold 2 from Samsung. I love the idea of rooting and having full access/control over a device I own, but it has been years since I rooted a phone. Recently my needs have changed and I find I am thinking about rooting again. Just curious if the below reasons are worth rooting and if rooting will even help or would I need to root and load a a custom rom?
1st I need to disable the 5g radio on my phone. I live and work in an area with poor 5g coverage, but have just enough that the phone can see it and try's to default to it and ends up providing far worse connectivity than the LTE that is steller in my area. AT&T is who I use and they have disabled this feature in their portion of the firmware. I can plug in a buddies T mobile sim and after reboot have access to the menu that allows me to pick LTE and my preferred connection type but not on AT&T.
2nd This is less of a concern as I have work arounds, but I would like to remove any and all carrier control of my device. In particular their ability to monitor and dictate how I use my data, i.e. wifi/BT/usb tethering. Like I said I have a work around but its fiddly.
3rd I would like to be able to run full weight cellular diagnostic tools on my phone as well as have full access to the USSD dialer codes.
Can these things be done after rooting and or loading a custom rom, in particular on the Fold 2? I have been searching for a bit, but can't seem to target my search to just this thread as I end up having to sort through a dozen other threads. I can work my way through rooting my phone and loading a rom, just curious which apps and or roms to look for once I have rooted. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Ok how about this. Can anybody point me to a location that can help me figure out how to removed carrier specific configurations once rooted? I want to disable my 5g radio on my fold 2. This is something that can be done when it has a T Mobile sim, but not an AT&T sim.

You should google harder dude
You could just Flash an international firmware of an un-carrier branded software, they can be found here - https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-z-fold-2-5g/firmware/#SM-F916B
Try this app - ESET USSD Control : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eset.securedialer&hl=en&gl=US
Disable 5G radio :
Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks : Change the network mode

Sorry about the googling... Could only find and confirm that it was locked on att phones. As I have an unlocked variant I was not sure why I was having that problem. Thanks for the tip on F916B I did not know I could load that on the F916U1, I will look more into that. But again I thought the F916U1 from Samsung was unbranded.
Thanks for the software link.

I have been an XDA Forums member for about 10 years and have enjoyed countless custom ROM on dozens of devices ... here is my opinion ...
In 2020 there is ZERO point in rooting a phone. Full stop. The end.
Edit: no point whilst the manufacturer is still providing software updates & support
Fair point... Is there a means by which I can manual control the radios in my phone without rooting? For example sending custom crafted AT commands to the radio to do things like IMSI masking, band switching, and most importantly band aggregation commands.

Everyone's mileage may vary but I stand by what is said ... For me, I see ZERO need to root on Samsung android 10 or 11
If you had asked me a few years back, what I would do with a brand new android phone out of the box and I would have said "root". I think the last phone I rooted was note 8, out of habit and that voided my warranty and I didn't gain anything in return... almost everything I used to do, can be done without root. Ad blocking via disconnect pro and netguard, to disable apps, use ccswe (as long as knox licence isn't revoked), youtube vanced to fine tune adfree youtube, naptime for putting device to quick deep sleeps, side actions to configure power button behaviour etc... these were probably the things I could have only achieved with root earlier.
I personally rooted my Samsung Fold 2 just so I can degoogle it. I cant stand big tech so for me it was worth doing

next you want to tap on LTE button and the next screen will occur
first we will tap on VIEW
make sure you know your MSL code for a later step
(BOOST Mobile normally has aa code of 000000 for their device for easy programming)
(View Screen)
the next step you tap on "Bands Priority" and get ready to change some values.
your values for each band should look like this below (tested on 2 devices and no issues so far)
thats it for that part of our journey. now we have to enable other band functions in the LTE Edit menu.
close that window and start another instance of the ussd code we used earlier and this time when we tap on LTE also tap on Edit (not view).
the next screen should look just like this
now type in your msl code
*again if you have boost mobile it will more than likely be 000000*
000000
the next screen you want to have has a bunch of Upload and Download enablers. Next 2 pictures.
you will want everything enabled that i have above. (pretty much all but 2)
the 2 left not enabled are
CA DL 26A-41A Enabled = off
and
CA DL 38C Enabled = off
they do not stay on for long if you turn them on.
Finally use this USSD dialer code
*#*#4636#*#*
then tap on Phone Information
next you will get the screen below and we aer going to change 1 thing
tap on "Set Preferred Network Type"
you will want to change the type to LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA(PRL)
afte that your finale step is to restart your device. and Voila you should have better data speed by up to 100mbps+/- a second.
Enjoy

Why does this work, and would it also work the same for the boost 5g model?
EDIT: I also want to add, it's probably a good idea to take a screenshot of your existing values before changing them if you need to switch them back.
It works because it puts that natural bands for boost mobile in the order to receive and send data first. They are off with a 0 by default. Which I thought was weird . I only added bands 25,26 and 41 to the queue operating first to capture packets from a native source tower. The UL and DL options enable those frequencies to use the signal sent and received. I enabled all I could by default so I can capture more packets over the network with more possible instances.
As for if it will work on the 5g. I am going to test that tonight and will post in the 5g forum. I do not know because I haven't had much experience besides reading at the moment.
I did the changes on my 5G, service still works, however no noticeable difference in coverage or speed, I did have to set a few to 0 that were enabled before

I probably wouldn't have done that because they're are 5g bands that were enabled like 71 and 12. Try adding the missing bands into the queue gradually and watching for cell tower switchover in phone information. So I would suggest a revert and slowly test each feature/band that you change. Don't go full out because it may cause a conflict with 5g capabilities.
Here is the original band queue for the 5g variant boost mobile. (So you got em in case)
Band 1 is marked as 0.
If you do decide to run with this then let me know how your testing goes and get over to the moto g stylus 5g forum and post there. Wouldn't mind the help testing on 5g as I only have 1 right now. DM/PM me with updates if you can.
