Hi there
Is there any app that would run mp3 when the light sensor reach x% of luminescence.
I am building a scenario to get back my girlfriend and I need the music to be launched when she opens the door, so when light come on the phone.
Thanks
That's a sweet move. Have you tried tasker?
Yep, Tasker will do that.
Good luck with the girl!
Great thanks, i'll give it a try
If you need help with it, send me a pm.

This will happen tomorrow, I'll keep you informed
EDIT : Well... Delayed to next wednesday, maybe I should keep her waitin' a lil' more ;oþ
It failed the EPIC way.
1st of all she was very late because she had car issue, so when she arrived she was already pissed, then when she saw me she became mad, and finally when I tried to get back to my home, my car was not there, probally robbed...
So in response to dba.rknair, don't do it !
Lol, but did the Tasker profile work?
Not exactly, I didn't manage to configure something stable enough for it to launch the music as the door open, so I used tasker in an other way : I disabled vibration and ringtone from the phone, and activated a trigger on tasker to play the music on missed call.
So I had to call my phone, ending it on the first ring for the song to start...
But as everything were screwed up it was useless.
how do i get this phone to stop automaticly placing new app icons on my home screens? Pretty damned annoying!
Opps nevermind. Turned off auto add widgets in the play store. Weird feature. If anyone else is looking to do this now you know how.
EDIT: Apparently you can turn it off. You learn something new every day.

Thanks so much for that. I couldn't find what was doing that
Yeah I had been trying to do that as well and I stumbled upon that setting. That's such a weird location for that setting, IMO

Thanks for this. I spent at least a half hour last night trying to figure out if I could turn it off and then just gave up.
hi so I have a lot of issues with my phone waking up for no apparent reason at all, turning off data and Wi-Fi didn't change anything either, the amount of wakes are ridiculous

You need to gsam or bbs to tell you what's waking your phone. From the info you provided no one can tell you what's going on.

Yes, give it a day and then look at held awake and app usage. That should tell you what's causing the problem. You can post screen shots here of those and we should be able to give you an idea of what's going on

its google play services.. its at the top of the list, but shouldn't be there at all. its been an issue with many other nexus 5 users this past month or so. i even had it. people are finding several ways to fix it. i fixed it by installing the disable service app, and removing all the location oriented stuff from google play services.

it should be even lower. mine was at 5% when causing trouble.
As said, use gsam.... Let it go from 100 to about 10 percent and sift through it. Post screens that look odd.
Don't reboot, Gsam will reset if you do.
Your screens are for an hour....can't tell much from that. Need a long timeframe.
Good luck!
Oh, and you need gsam root companion as well, to see held awake times and wakelocks. Get it from play store, run it after you download it.

true, this stuff happened after I factory reset it, I'm probably going to do a clean install of 4.4.3
did a factory reset, clean install of 4.4.3.... and it didn't work. well it was fine for day one, but crap again today.
wtf is the problem with Google play services?? it's really pissing me off
p.s. screenshots are for only one hour, but I used my phone for like 5 hours from before with the same amount of wakes between screen ons..
I'm willing to bet its related to what seems to be horrible signal strength.... Combined with location services. (High accuracy I'm betting? Or possibly on battery saver?)
So an app, or apps are trying to get location and having trouble cause your signal is so weak. (Trying to reach radio towers)
Or, its just apps trying to access data...social apps in particular, or anything that automatically receives info/data.
Anyway....to see if I'm on the right track.....first step is to turn location services off completely and see how it is.
If its no different....scenario 2.
For a few hours to test....keep location off and disable data. You'll still get texts and phone calls ...but that's it. See how that is for a few hours.
Good luck! ?

I don't think it's signal strength, becsuse both of these days I was at school, in the same spot. but yeah I'll try turning off location (it's on battery saver btw) and report back on how things go. thanks!

I actually think it's location, I did a short test turning it off then back on to battery saving, and you can see that it made a difference. the big gap where there is no awake is when I turned off location, and then right till the end you can see the phone keeps waking up after I enabled location again. I don't understand how it can go from no wakes between screen on to like 1000 wakes between screen on in just a day.. like wtf
I also have location off for facebook and messenger, and basically everything else except camera and Google, but I've always had location on for them including yesterday, so I don't think they're the problem

it still happens when location is disabled. i dont know whats up with google play services this past month, but it has bothered many. it started when they were updating the play services and added many more abilities and permissions to it. and its not just a normal app btw, it controls much of what goes on now with the os, even updating many things in the background.

Anyone else get this since the end of January 2018? I now get a notification after I have removed my watch saying "Remember to charge your Gear if you're not wearing it" every time I have removed my watch (shows up maybe an hour after I take off my Gear S3. It's getting extremely annoying, especially since I can't find any way to disable this! F***ING Samsung! Only 2 options are "Silent notifications" which still shows the icon in the status bar and then the notification in the drop down notifications. The other option is "Don't silence or block" which means it will also make a notification sound. Inside the notification settings I can't silence the Gear S Plugin as the only option is for how the notifications are handled on the Lock Screen.
I hated the damn notifications when the bluetooth connection dropped and/or connected but finally just figured F*** IT and just lived with it but this reminder to charge my watch is seriously F***ING annoying as hell! My watch can have 90% battery life and I still get this notification a little while after I removed it from my wrist. Why the hell does Samsung do this kind of stupid BS? Give me the damn option to completely block/disable these annoying notifications! I am using the Canadian Note 8 (N950W) and literally went through every option on my phone settings and Gear Manager and on my watch even and can't find a way to disable this new ridiculous notification!
Does anyone know how to disable this somehow?
T-mobile note8 and yes i get it too, not annoying to me but yes it started appearing after the latest version of samsung gear
Absolutely agree.
It's F***ing annoying and I can't find any way of stopping it either.
The watch doesn't need charging every night and I'm fed up with being woken up by this annoying message.
I've ended up silencing ALL notifications until somebody (hopefully Samsung) finds a solution.............
Never see this notification ?
I've been seeing this notification now for about a week... I don't understand what the point of it is? This needs to be disabled, like wtf lol.
Same problem here, I've been taking my watch off after a late night walk and after going to bed, I get this annoying as buggery notification on my phone, which wakes me up.
Not happy Samsung, remove the thumb from the ass and get it sorted (fire your software team while you're at it)
I got this notification as well, annoying...
I get the message when it's on my wrist at 100% and 90% charged. This notification is not needed. Samsung we know to charge our watches when we aren't wearing them its common sense. You should set this warning when battery reaches 15% or 10% charge. This what the phones usually do anyway.
Same annoying nonsense here. When I work away I take one charger and alternate charging my phone and watch. Overnight I charge the phone so I get this notification an hour after I go to sleep. Crazy that you can't disable it without turning off other notifications too.
Go into your settings on your gear s3 and click on watch faces scroll down where it says status indicator and turn that off. That should prevent your watch from sending any status notifications to your phone. Hope this helps you I kept getting the same notification

But turning that off means I won't have the little orange notification dot on the watch face when I have something waiting cuz at work my phone stays silent and I check my watch for notifications.
I shouldn't have to disable that feature to get rid of the other stupid one cuz Samsung are incompetent. I don't know why Samsung does stupid **** like this, is it so hard to make it an option that can be turned on/off by each person's preference?
Anyway, glad I'm not the only one annoyed to hell by this. I emailed Samsung using the link in the play store app page as well as left bad reviews on the play store and galaxy store in hopes they'll change this stupidity. I won't hold my breath since it is Samsung but you never know, lol.
This is happening on my Gear S2 as well and it's very annoying. In between this and the s-health weekly nag I can't turn off I think this is my last Samsung watch. I skip all Samsung software updates that I can because it seems like every other week they break something or make an app worse. I just don't understand this design decision, I mean do people really want their electronics nagging them this much?
Agree

It's driving me crazy too. I have filled in contact form on Samsung site. Suggest you all do the same. Just let them know.
This is crazy, how could Samsung developers think its acceptable to make an audible noise reminding me to charge my watch anytime of the day?
I spent half an hour trying to figure out how to disable this only to find out it is not possible.
It's been waking me up at night!
You can turn off the weekly updates now. I just figured it out. On your watch go into apps, then pick s health. Scroll over to settings. Then click health nudges and you should see the option to disable weekly summary. Hope that helps with that issue.
Now someone just has to fix this stupid notification to charge the Gear. I tried tweeting with Samsung Support and they just don't understand that it's not a bug but something that they made in the new update. Sigh.
The real question here is what quality control / review went into this being added to the watch?
I was again woken up by a Gear notification from my phone today, I have no option but to put the phone on silent or turn it off.
The only solution I've found so far......
Having emailed Samsung support who were no help whatsoever I've resorted to a kind of fix - although it's far from ideal.
On the phone -
1 - Goto "Settings/Sounds and Notifications/Do not disturb"
2 - Tick "enable now" and then go to "exceptions"
3 - Select "Custom" and then select "Alarms", Calls from "All", Messages from "All", "Event/task alerts", and any priority apps required (but definitely NOT "Samsung Gear"!)
This doesn't stop the notification but does silence it!
It also brings up a permanent notification saying that "Do not disturb is enabled" - but that's silent too.
Calls and SMS texts etc. still get through with their usual sounds.
Optionally you could enable "Do not disturb" to follow a schedule - e.g at night only.
Until Samsung listen to their customers and pull their finger out with a solution that's the best I've come up with so far. Not ideal - but better than being woken up at 1am every night!
Same here since January. Damn update. I hate this notification. I always have the phone on silent at night so it does not bother me so much. But I hate notifications that I haven't asked for
Maybe this will work
When the notification shows on your phone, just press and hold down till you get to a notification menu and disable it.
I just did it, so let's see if that works
I'm getting all other notifications from others apps
Hope this helps
I got a S8 plus

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.

That can be a daunting task but sort of fun because you can streamline your notification settings as you do so.

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...

But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
