After some **** device I choose to buy a HTC device, last one

Yeah, i'm not going to buy another HTC Smartphone .. ever again.
They even worse than Samsung or Sony's "only 2 big Updates" thing.

yeah, this ist pretty ****ty... no doubt.
But, if u aint wanna spent 400 € for a Phone, dont wanna have an Iphone .. but a good working finger fingerscanner, u need a htc or try to get a cheap ONEPLUS .. or are there any other devices that are equal or even better. Whats really important, fingerscanner, very good batt-life, REAL 2 years updates

well if u don't want to spent so much money .. you go with a miui device

It has had its updates for 2 yrs..
Release Date: November 2015

Oreo came out right at the 2 year mark so it would be unfair to complain: HTC promised 2 years of support and they delivered 2 years of support. Of course we would all like to have Oreo and 5 years of support, but considering the low volumes of A9s sold and the dire financial results of HTC lately they are not in a position to be generous with their R&D dollars. Also they sold off a chunk of their engineering department to Google for future Pixel development so are not likely to have any excess engineering resources.
Personally I like the A9 a lot, and have no complaints about HTC. That said, I will be very reluctant to buy a phone again that I can't easily change the battery; there is just too great a chance of wrecking the display while opening the A9. The good news is that with Oreo, Google is introducing the Treble technology. This should allow any Treble-equipped Android phone to be kept updated directly from Google without having to get the manufacturer or network to do any work. That is a big win, and i will have it in the next phone.

I got Xiaomi A1 - Android One. Very happy with value/price.

I need to sell my A9 it's sunshine s-off and I paid for the unlock code anyone interested has nouget..

The takeaway from the security update table is that all Android phones from established manufacturers have pitiful support records, with the exception of Google itself. HTC isn't much different than others, including especially Samsung. The other guys at the top of the Android section don't have a track record, just promises - not worth a tinker's damn IMHO. But this is why Google has introduced Treble, which assures us that any Treble-supporting phone can at least run the current AOSP ROM. Basically Google took away the ability for manufacturers and network operators to mess with the kernel and system, and provides Google the ability to directly download updates to the phones without manufacturers or operators involvement. Which is why I said earlier that the next phone I buy WILL have Treble - others need not apply.
Those of you upset with HTC may not have experienced the (lack of) love from Samsung. I have, and it was not pretty. I spent $400 on a newly released Note 8.0 tablet, with Android 4.2.2. They provided updates through 4.4.2 and then quit - long before they stopped selling the device. They also were very late on releasing the kernel source, and apparently there were issues with that. And many features were supported with proprietary binaries. It pretty much guaranteed that the devs would have a hard time and move on to other things. Samsung wants our devices to be obsolete as soon as possible and will stop at nothing to make it happen. I want them to be obsolete...
Really the only greener grass than HTC is over at Google, and HTC had a lot to do with that. Or go with Apple.

Desire s... a disappointment... or is it

I think the new desire s is well exactly the same as the desire but with different design gingerbread and a new CPU which isn't even a dual-core. The processor is fast I know but with honeycomb for smartphone and the sgs 2 coming soon it will be unable to compete. I'm not sure about it... anyway least desire we will get some sense with gingerbread
EDIT: I've kind of changed my mind about this, I like the desire s it fixes everything wrong with the desire. It's not much of an update from the desire. It's not amazing, its not crap it just very very good.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It's the phone that's leaked so far already, if the specs are as similar to the stock Desire as they say I won't be bothered
Thats big dissapointment... last year HTC was the best with top hardware, but today even LG is able to do more powerful phones. Goodbye HTC.
This is only the spec on 1 phone, if the HD2 surfaces as thought it could be awesome
DS looks basically like a 'woops, yes the original desire's internal memory was a bit shocking so here's a fix for it, thanks for your cash' sort of release...
Yes they can push out a phone with single core etc. for now because by the time people actually _need_ a dual core will probably be another year - but the only thing the DS looks good for is to make people happy who don't want a big phone (i.e. DHD), and don't already have a Desire
This phone is for new customers. Why you nerds need to upgrade like every month to new phone I will be happy with my Desire for several years... Been using it now over 6 months...
^^ You come onto a forum for people wanting to talk about phones and hack them and yet you call us 'nerds' - what does that make you??

You might be happy with phone like that for quiet a long time, but not everybody is like that, and to be honest, htc not anouncing a dualcore phone is BIG disapointment, coz HTC was already one of the tech leaders, delivering the latest solutions, and I still cannot believe, that HTC is dropping this completely, and taking the mainstream Facebook way instead, they will surely make loads of money on those facebook phones, but missing the top class highend might actually do some damage on reputation...

Part of me wonders if this is an interesting approach - a sort of;
1) get more people on android with nice 'mid-range' CHEAPER android phones
2) wait to see what everyone else brings out
3) bring out something better
To be honest - I think it'll be another year before I upgrade... this year is going to be mayhem for phones and I can see everyone signing up for contracts left right and centre to get something awesome - then (as usual) something better comes along

HTC VILLE leaked specs to be the first htc running sense 4.0
thoughts?

NOOOOO. ICS should be left untouched
i doubt we will get sense 4 for senny.
as all sense 4 phones will prob have 1gm ram so htc will say "too old" so gotta get devs to port it.
is say we will get it since its there flagship phone and ino for a fact xda devs will port it i really like the ics launcher but i think its too plain so id like to see what sense can do with the sensation

Um it hasn't been there flagship phone for awhile now. More than likely HTC will have excuses as to why they can't release until wayafter you get a new phone lol. Hope waiting is fun.

qHD Super AMOLED sounds good
well in the UK its HTCs flagship device.
In US the Amaze 4G and now Rezound are better then Senny.
That does suck if it does happen, but thankfully we have awesome devs here. If Sense 3.0 was able to be ported to the Nexus One, I'm sure 4.0 can be easily ported to the Sensation
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
im just worried that ICS will need 1GB RAM to be at its full potential.
As Sense adds a lot of overhead on top of stock android.
They already said ICS is coming to sensation.
"HTC knows how excited our fans are to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, so we're thrilled today to announce the first wave of HTC phones that will receive upgrades: We can confirm the brand new HTC Vivid, on sale beginning today, is upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich. In addition, Ice Cream Sandwich is coming in early 2012 to a variety of devices including the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G through close integration with our carrier partners. We're continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich"

My thoughts excatly.I think AMOLED is a step back with its penTile Technology. It should at least have a S'AMOLED Plus with a qHD res to be considered an improvement over the current SLCD display.

exactly. and the screen burn or whatever, doesnt display whites correctly. black is and vibrant colors are the only colors that look good. on SLCD "everything" looks good.. yeah the SAMOLED+ with qHD would be interesting, but they are using 2 gens behind xD AMOLED was on the behold 2 and crap like that lol. hopefully they change that.
Couldn't agree more. Amoled displays are so over rated and way over saturated too!

HTC One X+

source
http://androidcommunity.com/htc-one-x-quad-core-1-6-ghz-specs-leaked-on-twitter-20120907/
Just like previous reports and rumors this smartphone will indeed be running on NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor, only it will be the new Tegra 3+ instead. The CPU has been boosted to 1.6 GHz and a 1.7 GHz companion core NVIDIA calls 4-PLUS-1. The full details were revealed in this post on Twitter.
According to the leak, the HTC One X+ has dimensions of 134.36 x 69.9 x 9.3mm and weighs in at 129g. Then just like the original HTC One X the device has a 4.7-inch display, an 1,800 mAh battery, and 32GB of internal storage. The differences here are obviously the processor as well as a few other small changes.
He then goes on to mention Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a new Sense UI 4.5 will be on board too. That will accompany the new Tegra 3+ quad-core processor that has been increased in speed, then we’ll still have 1GB of RAM. I’m hoping they’ve increased the battery life because in this day and age 1,800 mAh just isn’t enough — especially when Motorola’s new flagship is just as thin and comes with a 2,530 mAh battery. Previous rumors point this phone towards T-Mobile for an initial launch but I’m sure we’ll find out more come September 19th at the HTC event in NYC.

HTC already committed to JB on the One S, One X, and One XL. It's not like the existing One X is going to orphaned. While they could turn their backs on early One-series purchasers the goodwill they'd burn in the process doesn't make that seem likely.
I'm confused about what is actually different. Is the processor actually different or is it just clocked a bit higher? What other minor things are actually different? I'm sick of manufacturers re-releasing phones with the same processor clocked a bit higher with other minor changes and passing them off as new phones. If T-Mob does get this, all it means is that T-Mob is finally getting a phone that's been out for several months already.

1. User replaceable battery
2. Memory expansion slot
3. Dual sim
4. Usb otg support
5. Unique htc apps(apple has siri, samsung has svoice.etc) though some are just fancy but believe me it helps a lot in ads

naaaaa even if this thing has a tegra 3 + it will still be **** htc have never done anything right, they always are one step behind Samsung! look at the s3 VS the htc one X the one x is no competition to the s3 even in the camera the galaxy s3 takes the upper hand slightly HTC makes phones that look good, feel good to hold, BUT when it comes to performance forget it the s3 blows the htc one x out of the water

Thanks HTC, now just announce the JB update for the One V (my soon to be secondary phone!)and you will continue to keep me as a customer / fanboy for life!

Wow...-_- T-MOUS should've released a white variant. Would prefer it over my grey.

Agreed.
HTC was smart by making the end caps tinted already. Bet those things get nasty after some use. I usually prefer white but I'm way more jealous of the storage space than the color in this case.
It's just not fair ;(

I think HTC's strategy will continue to fail them. It's essentially the same phone they released months ago just it has more storage. This is what the One S should've been when it came out, BUT it also should've had NFC to future proof the device.
Hopefully the memory IC is compatible with our phones so we can just resolder them

It's not surprising to see HTC made this move to release a variation of one s with different colour and more storage space. And I don't think it's unfair to the "old" one s owner either.
Just like Samsung released S3 alpha in Japan which has better specs than the international S3, companies will never make perfect phone, at least release a perfect one at one time.
The very next day after a device is made available to public, it's already become "yeaterday's" gadget apparently and literally. Moreover we all believed one s was a near perfect masterpiece when we bought it and did not bother too much about the 16gig storage, so why should we complain it now 6 months down the road. And we all know, in 3 years time, or less, one s may only be grandpa's play tool...
Regarding the release of one s se in other countries, I guess it will be available in the future if HTC still wants to keep the one s line. Since I know some big Telecom company like orange uk has marked one s EOL, end of line/life. Or HTC is preparing something big to come in Christmas time.
I do think it would have been nice to have at least 32gig option when one s was released, however that was not the case...

They could just design it with a microSD slot, it's that simple.
I knew that when I got the phone but didn't think it would bother me so much.
Roming it would be much easier... It's like they took the two bad things from the iPhone... Can't understand that.
Still I love the One S!

I disagree. Even after the One S came out, it's specs didn't become obsolete. The galaxy s3 was released shortly after and even that is on par with the one S based on benchmarks. And as the way things are, a lot of phones are being released with almost similar specs, with the exception of cpu speeds (architecture may be more optimized but say, exynos and snapdragon 4 are very much on par) and ram, phones aren't being differentiated. Not unless the new batch of architecture cpu are released and even then, manufacturer still have to create a phone around it. So while yes, this Taiwan version only phone has more memory, it doesn't mean any one s, one x, are going to be a grandpa toy only time soon. I can see the iPhone 5 being obsolete the moment it came out and being a grandparent toy only (Samsung commercial hit it dead on) but the one s will still be a contender. In fact, the only phones that become obsolete the day after released, are budget phones. Aka, one v and people still complain they aren't getting updates.

HTC Is Making Phones Again

Hello, I wanted to share some news here and discuss about it. We probably know already HTC is busy recently with VR and the 5G hub..
HTC will release some phones again finally this summer.. probably in July. There will be a midrange phone and a flagship phone who will be the successor probably of our U12+. The midrange will be probably a snapdragon 660 and the flagship will be probably a snapdragon 865 ( the most powerful this year with 5 G ). We don't know a lot of information of the hardware about those yet.
Here some links which are more detailed: Here for the midrange and here for the flagship
What do you think of this guys? For me i find this great that HTC will making phone again this year, particularly a flagship. I like a lot of things from HTC , like the quality, the design.. the Sense UI.. I am still rocking with my U12 +, we are still on android 9 however. The phone deserves a new update for sure, HTC is still making small updates on some devices this year.. maybe we can still hoped for a new update from htc on it later. I still hoping for a bit, will see. Maybe is will be different with the new phone.. there was a time htc give us update faster than others.
Will i buy it? Maybe, probably, I am waiting to have more information. I hate apple at the highest points .. I have not really interested with samsung. My second choice will be google phone ( pixel) but is not perfect for me ( design still suck, not as much functionality as HTC..)
You guys are you going to buy it ? According to the poll from androidauthority from my second link, many people is interessed to buy it.
I have made a poll for it
Hi, HTC will announce two phones the 16 june! The mid range and the flagship i guess.

I prefer the u12+, or even my old m9, design though. This seems like any other chinese smartphone. Let's see what it can do

So yes is the Desire pro 20 and the U20 5G the two new phones is mid range phone, maybe later a u20+ will see the day..
The question of the day is.. it worth changing the U11 or U12 for the U20? what do you think of that?
What i know it has no edge sense on it.. but also no htc sense ? This is sad.. i really love htc sense.. htc sense on pie is great.
What's your opinion about this ?

Imo change the u11 or the u12 for the u20 is a downgrade... It will always be a 2 or 3 years newer phone but I have the u12+ and I'm more than satisfied with it. The only thing these two phones have that I miss is the wide angle and the 5000mah battery. But I can live without them.
If I were searching for a new phone I would go with oneplus or pixel. Even with the rumors of the pixel 5 with the 765g, I don't think that makes a phone less of a flagship, I don't play much games and if the phone is always fast and fluid I'm ok with it!
I think this two phones will be competing with mid range xiaomis, samsungs and so on, and not for the htc fans.
Let's see how the price goes. If they can deliver a good 5g phone with a competitive price maybe they can squeeze some money to make a squeezable u20+ xD
@dioggo92
I still love my u12+ too.. Is a great phone no problem with the buttons, but sadly he will continue to become old like everything else.
Yes is true the wide angle , the big battery is nice, probably other things but I am not sure..
I have looking the phone market and pretty nothing interests me I was hoping a flagship from HTC with HTC sense and some HTC extras. I will continue to see the evolution for the HTC phone.
I have see that the pixel 5 will be a 765G. May ask you why you do not want to change to u20 but if you want a new phone you will probably taking the pixel 5? Since is the same processor you do not consider it a another downgrade like you said? I am agree with you, you should not have lags with this processor , is look a great processor.

True, I'm only thinking about changing phone next year or so, so for me it's not a deal breaker. By that time I'll see whats going on in the market. I bought this u12+ last year only because I don't buy phones from the same year. They are ridiculously expansive and will drop half the price(or less) 1 year after.
Yep, I get that. That htc sense and extra features are what I like in htc too, plus the build quality of hardware and software. Although the U12+ is not the best example in software unfortunately.
Hang to the u12+ for another year if it lasts that for you.

Android pie with htc sense on the u12+ is really great! android 10 is missing for now however.. I have read a email from htc here and is said this:: I completely understand you want to know when the Android 10 update for the U12+ will be available but due to the developing process, we cannot give you an estimated time for this update to be released. Still somes hopes for getting it.
I have read somes rumours that htc will announce a second 5g phone and should by the flagship the next months of later. I hope is will gettings some htc extras..
Maybe they are making some substantial software upgrades. The HTC sense is basically the same since htc one m7 with some new features and tweaks. Maybe u12+ will get a surprise, that would be awesome because they said they wont release new phones but would be keeping the u12+ updated but forgot pretty much about that.
Yes a surprise later will be awesome.
