Depth mapping in Camera2 API for example? Max ISO and shutter speed?

Camera problem

Does anybody have problems with camera during small distance operations like bar code or qr code reading. It is almost impossible to read those codes with my device. I have 9020 model
Tried to change focus to "macro" in camera settings?
Helps a bit.
So basicly the way that camera works is a feature ?
Well, if your barcode reader app can't read the barcode I'd blame the app.
If you meant that you can't read the barcode details (numbers) on a picture you have taken then this _might_ be because of the focus setting (macro vs .automatic). Also remember to set to 5mp, not below. In the end NxS' camera isn't the best in the smartphone market, but one of the better. It's still no match to today's pure camera shots.

Camera ISO

Does anyone know if Google will add ability to adjust the camera's ISO in a later update?
It seems rather silly that Google would omit such a basic feature out of the user's control while touting the camera's abilities in the marketing.

Thanks for that. It's very interesting that the phone can store raw for the end user.
However, that tells me little about the implementation of manual controls on the phone.

Wide Appreture editing app, besides stock gallery

So I have been thinking, in a few years, when everyone gets new phones, with new features. How are we going to edit the pictures taken with Wide Aperture mode (fake bokeh)? The only app able to change the depth of field of the picture is the stock gallery app by Huawei/honor that came with the phone.
Google photos DOES save the information to be edited later (but there is no way to edit them on Google photos app as far as I can tell).
So if a year later you restore photos to this phone and try to edit them, you can, but only with the stock gallery app.
Anyone here know of any 3rd party software on Windows desktop, and or on the web or android that can do this? So we don't have to be reliant on the Gallery app from Huawei in case we change phones later on.
Thanks.
You can't really change the aperture on phones as the aperture is fixed to f2 or bit more. What Google and Huawei and all the other do, is to approximate the behaviour by blurring the background in a postprocessing step. The better they detect foreground and background, the better this illusion works. But it's never a real bokeh.

I am well aware how this camera works, i am a part time photographer, This was not my question! my question was if there is an external source or app that allows us to edit these kinds of photos as the gallery app does, to refocus after we take the pics using the wide aperture mode.
I think that what Huawei does with their gallery app is a bit proprietary.

So basically after a few years if we want to edit these pictures it would either be impossible with another brand of phone, or might perhaps be possible if we keep buying huawei phones, with this feature, which is not a sure thing.
Yes I think so. But I didn't investigate on this topic. At least one can still open the Jpeg as the depth information is somewhat in it.
Unfortunately no third party apps that can do this.
Maybe if someone can port the gallery app, that will work!

[Photography Enthusiasts] My A2 Lite Photography

Hey there fellas. I just wanted to share with you a couple photos that I took with my A2 Lite [GCam]. Some of them were edited with the Adobe Lightroom. I am aspiring to become a professional photographer. What do you think of these? https://imgur.com/a/YadOgaz
Enjoy!
Damn, I love your pictures. Could you share with us which gcam did you use for these photos ?

Thank you so much! ^_^ It's always nice to hear compliments when you're an amateur at something. Currently I am using 3 GCam apks actually, one of which I am using for the front camera only. The other two I use for the back camera only but - one of them has better autofocus and manual mode on the viewfinder (ISO, shutter speed), the other one I set to longest exposure time and minimal possible ISO in the settings so it's always taking pics for a longer time but they turn out quite sharp even in the night (when the focus is successful).
I really don't remember the links for the apks, could I just extract them and upload them here?
These are apks in question:
5.1.018 - front cam, the only version I found where the front cam works with the hdr+
6.2.024 - back cam, (auto)focus is rarely successful, but when it is, pictures turn out great with manual ISO and shutter speed settings (ps you may use the portrait mode for manual focusing it works flawlessly and you can also use hdr+ enhanced with it, but you can't use RAW which is a huge downside for me)
6.2.030 - back cam, better focus than 6.2.024 and manual mode is on the viewfinder (iso and shutter speed)
Personally I use the 6.2.024 more often because you can set camera to shoot in fixed exposure time and minimal ISO for the given situation.

Good job. Finally gcam for proper use. You may want to try Snapseed also for post processing. Does Lightroom have a proper profile for raw conversion?

It does have profile [lens] corrections (if that is what you mean; the GCam can shoot in RAW and I edit the RAW and export to JPEG in original resolution with lightroom after pp) for Google Pixel phones but I am not using them tbh because I usually fix the geometry and colour grading all by myself.
Thanks for the recommendation - I've heard of Snapseed but haven't really given it a shot - I definitely will now.
Oh and thanks for the compliments!
EDIT: I'm using Lightroom for Android.
Who knows with the right camera (gcam in this case) and talents we could have some pretty decent pictures (more than just decent tbh, kudos to you) from this phone's camera.
Keep shooting mate. And to answer your question, I love your shots!

I was referring to color profiles; when you shoot raw with a digital camera and afterwards you process it to save a jpeg or tiff or whatever, the application (I'm talking about a desktop app) needs the camera's color profile to know how to interpret raw information in order to achieve the colors you actually saw. Unfortunately DNGs saved by phones don't contain that profile and they look faded when first opened in a processor, you must do all the work manually to get a decent looking image, at least that was my experience. That's why I was asking since I didn't use phone Lightroom in a long time, maybe first version.
great photos!
a small request if you can,
from gcam mods website https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
you can find your gcam versions you took the photos WITH the feature of load/save settings (xml file), some developers already released. then you can create your config and share here with that and appropriate gcam link... will be more helpful.
btw, this gcam (version 7) supports selfies (front cam) with hdr+ / hdr enhanced :
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog984/
and it supports load/save settings to xml too. an example of above.

Oh yes, you're right, it doesn't. I don't think the desktop app has those profiles for smartphone cameras either. Tbh I like that the DNGs are the way they are because it makes me learn how to do post processing in a good and proper way instead of having the app just do everything for me, plus they contain a hell lot of editable information and once you've processed them, they look way better and sharper than the JPEGs.

Hey there! Thank you for your compliment. Since I couldn't find the links on celsoazevedo even though I downloaded my GCams from there, I simply uploaded all 3 to mediafire - here's the link:

As for my personal settings, I shall screenshot them a bit later and attach them here.
I don't really fancy GCam 7 though

And what an informative thread too. (Like old school xda).

Sadly, they know it is capable of shooting great pics like this, but they just won't let us use the full capacity of the camera. Hence disabling Cam2API and the stock camera app sucking so bad at taking pics lmao.

It's like xiaomi license the camera app from a 3rd party developer and they're not allowed to touch it. They don't update the app on any of their phones and even if the hardware capable to do magic the software side is dumbed down even on their flagship phones...

Long Shutter Speed for devices with limited settings in pro mode

Hi, everyone.
I don't know if it is possible to tweak them but for the past few years I am too worried about the setting available in budget android devices.
I am still a student and can't afford expensive smartphones. I love everything in Samsung's devices but their limited setting in pro mode bother me.
My question is that is it anyhow possible to change setting to allow the shutter speed to go up till 10 seconds or 30 seconds?
Budget phones from Samsung only allow limited number of camera setting like ISO, white balance and exposure in pro mode, but I want to change the shutter speed and manually change the focus.
My phones are Samsung Galaxy J6(J600G) and Galaxy A5 Duos (A500G).
Is there any way possible so that I can take a long exposure picture of 10 seconds or so?
I have tried many applications from Camera FV-5, manual camera and OpenCamera etc.
Camera FV-5 allow long exposure up to 60s but does not work and there is no difference in stock camera picture and camera Fv-5 picture.
Manual Camera and OpenCamera allow shutter of up to only 1/8 s. It doesn't work even after enabling camera 2 API in OpenCamera setting.
Any help will be appreciated.
I would also like to know the reason for it if it is not possible to do so. Does hardware limit some settings or camera module or anything like that.
HELP PLEASE

IDK about your device, but on my S10, the stock Samsung camera app allows to set manual focus and shutter time up to 30 second in Pro mode - see my screenshot.
AFAIK those settings are not limited by hardware, but more limited by the software/what features the manufacturer (Samsung) exposes to be used by the user or other camera apps.

Have a habit of reading the query thoroughly. Anyway, congratulations because S10 is a budget smartphone for you.

Thanks for your advice. I just wanted to give additional context information for my screenshots. Nothing more.
And I posted only because (after more than a month and about 74 views) no one else replied to your "query". Sometimes it helps to "push" a thread to be seen and replied by other users (with the "right" device and/or solution).
