Lag in capacitive buttons - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Anyone is experiencing a lag when turning off the screen in when the capacitive buttons go to sleep? Everytime I lock it, I accidentally touch one of the buttons and the screen turn on again.
Thanks!

Not here....even when I tap feverishly after I first press the power button.

I can confirm that the back button still works for about 1 second after I've pressed the power button. It's never been an issue for me though.

Now that you mention it, yes. The back button does register after the power button is pressed for about a second. Never happened to me even once, though.

I had a problem with my first tf300 where it would register random touches and long presses -- even when i wasn't touching it. I exchanged it, and my second one is working perfectly.

Power button problem

My power button has started acting funny... when I press it it doesn't work. And worse, it turns the screen on and off by itself (like I was pushing it).
Also sometimes the back button takes screenshots instead of "back".
For the moment I use a setting in ViperS that allows me to turn the screen on with VolUp and and off with VolDown, and also attributed another action to the power button so it doesn't turn the screen on and off by itself (with Button Remapper).
The problem appeared when I was on Bruce's CM10 (though i don't think this is the problem), and then I hardly flashed ViperS.
Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions?
I hope this isn't hardware related... (It isn't under warranty)
did you check if the back cover is pushing the button somehow and it is always pressing the contact for screen off/on the device?

Yes. It's the same thing with the cover off.

Volume/Power buttons don't work when locked

I have a weird problem where the power and volume buttons don't work when the screen is locked. I know it is not a hardware issue because I had this problem for a couple days, then the power button started working again perfect the next day and now its back to not working. When the screen is unlocked, the volume keys work perfect and controls volume as it normally would. I downloaded some apps to enable the volume keys to work as an unlock button, but they fail to work.
As a last resort, I was going to flash a new rom to see if it would help, however when I boot into recovery mode, the volume keys don't work and i cant move up and down through the options. In addition, I've noticed that when I do a battery pull and put the battery back in, the phone automatically boots up as if the power button was held down.

Do you have an idea of why the volume buttons aren't working though as an unlock button with apps tho? I also question whether it is a hardware problem because this has happened in the past before and then suddenly the power button works again perfect for months. It is just very annoying for me to sit here and hope for it to start working again.

It's a known issue that when the power button stay stuck the other buttons don't work. It sucks, but that's what it is. Nexus S always had this power button problem and usually you can send it to samsung to get it fixed. Some people have tried to fix it themselves without too much luck...

[Q] Nexus S Power Button Not Working - Hardware Issue or Software Issue???

I dropped my NS the other day and now the power button has became very finicky. I've read about others with power button problems but from the issues I'm experiencing I think the problem might be software related and not caused by dropping it.
When the screen is off, hitting the power button always turns the screen back on but sometimes brings up the power menu
When the screen is on, press and long pressing the power button doesn't do anything
When the phone is off, pressing the power button turns the phone on, and I can get to the bootloader using the power + volume up
The power button issues I'm having only seem to happen when the screen is on, otherwise the power button works like it should. I've clean installed my rom twice but the porblem stays the same.

Hardware.
It will probably fail on you completely eventually.

Wonky Pressure-Sensitive Home Button on Galaxy S8

Hi Ive had the Galaxy S8 about slightly more than a week, and Im facing this recurring issue whereby the pressure-sensitive home button starts to take light taps as heavy presses, and on some occasions when i turn off the screen, it turns on by itself thinking that I made a hard press. I can feel it as the vibration motors are activated. I tested it using *#0*#, but it works perfectly fine there. Anyone else facing these issues? Can anyone tell me if this is a hardware fault or software?
I've just witnessed it turned phone off and back on and back to normal now had over a week only known this happen once about an hour ago
Never seen it turn on my accident, but it does glitch out sometimes. At times it can register a touch as a hard-press, and it does the double vibration every time I touch the home button. This is fixed with a screen off - screen on switch though, so not a problem for me, and I haven't experienced it after the new update
Got myself the S8 secondhand and while it looks immaculate, I also have this problem. At times the pressure sensitivity doesn't work at all, sometimes it will go through periods of immediately pressing and depressing, and sometimes it'll register a soft press of the home button as a hard press.
Think this is a hardware error? I've tried this in Ultra Power Saving mode and without my case on, and it's always repeatable.

I'm having the double vibration when I hard press the home button problem. It's a hardware problem? And how to fix it? I didn't understand the screen off - screen on switch solution

Double vibration? Isn't that what is meant to happen? The first vibration when pressing down simulates a real physical button being pushed down, and the second vibration when lifting your finger simulates you releasing the physical button. It's meant to happen, and it's not a hardware or a software problem.
What I meant with screen off - screen on solution is simply turning the screen off, and turning it back on again. It fixes a problem that occurs to me at times, where the double vibration happens every time I tap the virtual home button. Normally it's only meant to happen when pressing the virtual home button forcefully, not on light taps where no pressure is applied.
If the phone is in standby, with display turned off, if you double press the home button, or you keep it pressed, the phone will get back to phone mode with emergency call only. How to disable that damned festure? ?
