As the title said. Im willing to provide seeding for v20 development. My system is always on.
Xda has been a tremendous help to me and since im not a developer, Id like to contribute by providing bandwidth for all files (legal)

I apologize in advance if this isn't allowed, but I wanted to open the doors all ROM developers (any anyone else ) to our Evo forum (htcevoforum.net). We just setup a developer section, and if you PM with your Rom information I will be sure to add a section within the Developer forum for it.
We are looking to get the most out of our Evo's, and the users there would be very interested in the Roms developed here. Feel free to include your paypal info below your thread for donations! We look forward to seeing you there!
Again, apologies if this sort of things isnt accept (mods feel free to delete if so).

will you host the files?
I dont mind hosting the files, unless for some reason they are considered against HTC/Android terms of service?
From a bandwidth/server resource standpoint hosting them is no problem on my end.
Hosting
I have a server and can host files on ROMs if anybody needs it.

I also have a server.. 1TB at that.. Willing to give out love.. LOL
Unlimited bandwidth/disk space. Just PM me if you need a file uploaded.
Kinda feel like the tread derailed a bit
Again, I would love to host them at our forum, which would be ideal for anyone already there or looking for Evo information. Thanks again!
I have unlimited hosting if needed... Please 2.2 rom Please
1TB of b\w on a gigabit port at SoftLayer, beat that
Anyway, looking forward to whatever ROMs/enhancements that everyone comes out with. 2.2 stuff in particular.
Heck, I might be able to help with some coding if needed, though my knowledge of Android programming is very basic.
Why don't you people stop trying to throw him out of his own idea?
He had it first, find something else to do.
Going to throw out some questions to see if there is any interest in the community for an idea I had. I am considering hosting ROM files on my dedicated server to create a central resource for downloads here at XDA. My first question is whether the wireless carriers and handset manufacturers would allow these downloads to be hosted in such a manner, or would they send a cease and desist? I would assume since Android is an open source platform, they would allow it? Secondly, would there be interest from the community in having a central resource for downloading files that is fast, reliable, and easy to navigate? Any feedback would be great.

It isn't illegal to host roms on a site, but there is already a place that does this called crackflashers I believe, although most devs use there own host.
I see their web page now that you point it out. Seems there selection is not too extensive, and a little dated as well.
I don't create roms but really don't mind the current setup (forums) so not only can I get the rom but also find help and ask for help in the same place as everyone for that specific rom. But those are just my thoughts I'm sure someone may have a reason for it.
Also no ISP is going to issue a cease and dessist for this kind of project. You have a liscense to all the work as it is open source.

I was wondering the same thing as I will soon have unlimited usage with bandwidth. Then again I have no idea what kind of transfer speeds can be obtained either. Time to find out I guess.
Hey there xda-dwellers. I hope I've chosen the correct forum for this question.
I've always wondered - whenever I go to download a new ROM for whatever phone I have at the time, ROMs are always hosted on Megaupload / Rapidshare (or something along those lines). Why?
Is it because most developers lack the resources to push out enough bandwidth to satisfy downloaders such as myself? It it more convenient to use these sites? Or does it have something to do with legal issues?
Just trying to think of a way I can give back to the community. If it's out of a lack of bandwidth, I may be able to help.
Thanks!
Most devs don't have their own servers or websites not all are Megaupload. Also some just use it as another way to push it out if its super popular. Least thats what I have viewed.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Its rather that even if they have the servers why should they use them to distribute 100MB ROM files to thousands of peoples, they don't sell the ROMs, they offer them for free, no income from that...
So they would have to pay money for bandwidth so people can download their free ROMs...
Maybe they just aren't aware of the better alternatives like minus.com or Google Docs.
I'd love to hear from a developer on this. Thanks for the replies, guys.
I've got the resources to offer the storage and bandwidth for free to developers. Would any developers be interested or actually use this? I have a vision for creating a central location where developers can post their ROMs for quick, direct downloads from a dedicated server.
I just need to get some people on board and involved. I think it'd be a great thing for the community, personally, but I want to hear the community's opinion before I put hours of work into it.
Again, thanks guys!
Interesting treat I have always wander the same thing lol

I know, this thread may feel unnecessary to many of you, and I know this may spark some issues. But I'm going ahead and doing this. I'm not writing this up because of attention, its because of all the support and effort provided by all the developers, contributors, themers, moderators, technical members, pretty much everyone. That I need to show a way to thank them all at once.
On behalf of every user like me and many other's, I would like to thank every single person that pushed their limit and work tirelessly to produce and achieve something that they enjoy doing. Not because of money but because of simply enjoying the fact that people like us get to use what they've created.
If xda-developers wasn't here, many people that contribute here would have never achieved what they could have to this point. Why do I say that? Because xda is well known for inspiration and achievement. When a person sees one creating an astonishing project, they wonder and think to themselves if they could ever achieve something like this. And that's when you realize you want to get into development, contributing or simply helping people that are experiencing problems.
Over the years I've seen many projects, and I can damn tell you, people here are smart enough to be CEO's at companies. Heck smart enough to own companies and create new things. The projects are simply amazing, and sometimes hitting the thanks button and giving a donation doesn't really fill your need of appreciation. I honestly can't thank every individual here at xda that provide, help or simply ask questions. Without that xda wouldn't be xda. I decided to create this thread to show my appreciation for all that have provided people with solutions, projects and the love for technology.
If I had the time to fill this thread up with each and every individual that makes xda what it really is. The thread would be endless. I really hope that this thread isn't a concern and if you're a developer or simply someone that's exploring the vast world of Android. I would like to thank you for making xda what it really is.
