Just broke my Galaxy S4 screen a few days ago and bought a P9 Lite 2017(DIG-L23). First disappointment tonight when I attempted to connect an external USB drive to the phone with the same adapter I used on the S4 Galaxy and my Note 8. The Huawei wont recognize the USB drive but the Note 8 will. The Note 8 and the S4 are rooted, The P9 Lite so far is not, Is this the difference or is the P9 Lite incapable of recognizing external USB drives??
Thanks

Hello and you're confused, the P9 Lite 2017 has the "Prague" key name (PRA-LXX). The phone to reference (DIG-L23) is the P9 Lite Smart (key name: "Diego", also known in other markets and with slight differences in specs like Enjoy 6s or Nova Smart). Regarding your doubt, the P9 Lite Smart does not have factory OTG support. The P9 Lite 2017 does. Greetings.

Many thanks for the kind reply and information.
Also thanks for clearing up the confusion. I assume that unlocking the bootloader and rooting should be no different than the P9 or P9 lite.
Regards

You're welcome. Regarding your last query, the procedure for unblocking bootloader is the same for all recent Huawei mobiles. You can guide this Post: Here
The TWRP itself is specific, and the version of SuperSU in some cases also, although you have the option of Magisk, more info enters this Group: Here
Good luck

- Root with Magisk (install via TWRP): Here

You are just most excellent for taking the time to link what you did here particularly the Magisck link. My sincerest thanks for the kindness and help.

Hi guys
I'm new to Huawei devices, the P9 Lite is my first Huawei and I'm pretty satisfied with the device.
I do like the EMUI, but I find it to be too RAM hungry, so I was wondering will we get CyanogenMod 13 ever?
Also, do you think the P9 Lite will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat when it comes out?
I'm interested to know this as well. Now that the bootloader can be unlocked.... perhaps this will be more likely?
Hi Charlie, how did you manage? I tried, but had to reinstall emui, the phone was blocked...
I'm also interested in any news about Cyanogenmod 13 for the Huawei P9. Also, what method did you guys use to unlock the bootloader?

Yes it should almost certainly receive 7. P9 already had a leaked beta. It also has the choice of a stock look android app menu as well as the iOS feel at the moment. To be honest I really like the look and direction of the beta. Just needs polishing.

Is there news yet ?
I wait eagerly for CM for my P9 Lite, I hope it will soon .
Yes, the bootloader can be unlocked and it can also be rooted.
Type P9 Lite unlock bootloader into google and you should get the XDA link first.
Hello!
There is a dev working on cm for your device currently, check http://meticulus.co.vu for updates. It boots and lots of things work, but it's still not really an usable rom. But it seems to be going well, I wish all my luck for that as I myself have a Honor 5C, so having a rom for P9 Lite would basicly mean a rom for me too. The developer seems very much skilled enough to make a fully working cyanogenmod port and I think it'll be one of the first Kirin Cyanogenmod, if not the first! All praise and glory to Meticulus!

Honor 6A forum threads haven't been made??in which region honor 6A released??
I think that Honor 6A was made only for our market (Italy). Its hardware (SoC Snapdragon 430, GPU Adreno 505) is the same of Honor Holly 4 (sold in India) but with no fingerprint sensor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage.

This is the official FunkyHuawei support thread.
FunkyHuawei is a (mostly) paid service which allows you to do the following:
1. Install the latest system software, even before it's released by OTA.
2. Install beta/prerelease system software, without needing to be a beta tester.
3. Recover a bricked phone.
4. Rebranding / Change the region of your phone (China -> Europe, for example, to get Google and so on.)
5. Enabling dual-sim features on single-sim phones.
6. Root your EMUI 8 phone, even with stock recovery (This feature is free)
--NOTE: SOME OF THESE FEATURES NOT AVAILABLE ON P20 SERIES YET. SEE NEXT POST--
You do not need to unlock your bootloader, or void your warranty to use the service. (except the free rooting feature)
To find FunkyHuawei, please Google it. Or you can find a link to the service as well as our rebranding tool within the following XDA Portal article.
https://www.xda-developers.com/exclusive-att-huawei-mate-10-pro-firmware/
We are pleased to announce FHUnbrickFlashTool -- You can now repair any recent Huawei phone via fastboot, even if you cannot access eRecovery or boot the phone! Even if it doesn't show the Huawei logo, as long as you can get a fastboot connection to your computer, you can recover the phone! Google FHUnbrickFlashTool or check FunkyHuawei's reddit for details.
In cooperation with XDA, FunkyHuawei is offering a free credit to Recognized Developers and Recognized Contributers on XDA.
Please PM me for more details.
We will continue posting in this thread with updates regarding new software versions and releases regarding this device.
We will also be monitoring it so we can help anyone who has issues.
FunkyHuawei, due to popular request, is now offering an unlimited pass. You can break your phone all you want, and turn to FunkyHuawei to unbrick it however many times you need to. You can also install all the latest updates, beta versions, and so on, without worrying about spending credits. You can check out more details on FH's reddit or homepage.
For device-specific information, please see the next post.
Please be sure to read the terms of service as well as the instructions very thoroughly before using the tools, to understand the potential risks of using them.
FunkyHuawei can now offer bootloader unlock codes for all Huawei models (including recent models like P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, and so on.)
These unlock codes can be provided for free to customers who purchase an unlimited pass from today.
See details from the link on the main page of the site.
P20 and P20 Pro Device Information.
Currently, here is what we support on the P20/P20 Pro series.
Installing new firmware/unbricking via eRecovery: SUPPORTED
Rebranding with unlocked bootloader: AVAILABLE NOW!
Rebranding with locked bootloader: COMING, MIGHT BE A WHILE
Unbricking from fastboot: COMING, MIGHT BE A WHILE
Since it is a new device on a new OS, some things have changed and we need to update some of our methods to fully support it.
Those who would like to test rebranding with an unlocked bootloader before we release it, please contact us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does FunkyHuawei cost?
A: You need to buy credits on the FunkyHuawei website. The price per credit varies depending on the number of credits you buy. Different operations cost different amounts of credits. However, the Root feature of the Mate 10 tool is free, and as mentioned above, Recognized Developers/Contributors of XDA can ask for a free credit.
Q: My phone is bootloader locked, and FRP locked. My bootloader unlock code dosen't work. It won't boot. eRecovery doesn't work. Can you help?
A: Yes. With the Mate 10 this is now a common situation. Contact FunkyHuawei for help in this situation. We'll need to access your computer remotely and the procedure is a little bit complicated, but the phone can be unbricked.
Q: I can't get my bootloader unlock code/don't want to unlock my bootloader, but I want to change my phone to something other than Chinese. Can you help?
A: Yes. Our new FunkyHuawei Rebrand Tool works on recent Huawei phones (Sorry EMUI 8.1 phones not yet supported. Coming soon), to rebrand them to another region even when the bootloader is locked.
Q: I'm not seeing the latest version listed on FunkyHuawei or elsewhere as an OTA. Why not?
A: Huawei has a very odd and unpredictable way of rolling out OTA updates. You can use FunkyHuawei to install the new version immediately, or can wait for the update to be rolled out. It might be a month or more after release until the update reaches your device from Huawei directly. We have no idea why.
Q: Why isn't FunkyHuawei free?
A: Because many of FunkyHuawei's features cost FunkyHuawei money to provide. Features that don't cost FunkyHuawei money to provide, like rooting the Mate 10 or our TWRP build for Mate 9/Oreo, for example, are generally made available for free. There are also bills to pay, kids to put through school, and so on.
Q: I noticed FunkyHuawei in an XDA Portal article!
A: FunkyHuawei loves XDA, and is cooperating with them as much as possible. Recognized Developers and Contributors on the XDA forums are welcome to claim a free credit from FunkyHuawei as well.
Q: I have a different question.
A: This is what this thread is for! Post away!

Yes. But it's possible the phone has an internal secondary IMEI which it simply doesn't show on the settings. We haven't had a way of figuring out exactly how it works IMEI-wise, but both sims do work. It's been this way for generations of Huawei phones.

According to the UK support the Mediapad M5 Lite is not scheduled to receive Android 9 upgrade, only confirmed for M5 and M5 Pro.

Yes, thats my Guide.. But there are two different Tabs. One is main, it`s an BAH2-W19C432 and the new one is BAH2-W19C431. The guide in android-hilfe.de is only for BAH2-W19C432 cause maybe you need to revert your Firmware to an older one.

good to know mcc, thx for your guide, if I'll try it I'd like to add a specific topic on xda
Just to add a comment about tab versions and its latest firmware: I bought mine from Amazon.de for about 200 euros a couple weeks ago, and indeed it's the newer C431, running v215 firmware (still emui 8.0).
Pretty dumb, because it's my understanding that CUST 431 is for potentially-branded phones (not this) and 432 is the open, "unlocked" European version (should be this case). I heard C432 devices tend to get faster updates, so if anyone has information about switching my C431 to C432, I'm all ears.
