Hi guys
I'm new to Huawei devices, the P9 Lite is my first Huawei and I'm pretty satisfied with the device.
I do like the EMUI, but I find it to be too RAM hungry, so I was wondering will we get CyanogenMod 13 ever?
Also, do you think the P9 Lite will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat when it comes out?
I'm interested to know this as well. Now that the bootloader can be unlocked.... perhaps this will be more likely?
Hi Charlie, how did you manage? I tried, but had to reinstall emui, the phone was blocked...
I'm also interested in any news about Cyanogenmod 13 for the Huawei P9. Also, what method did you guys use to unlock the bootloader?

Yes it should almost certainly receive 7. P9 already had a leaked beta. It also has the choice of a stock look android app menu as well as the iOS feel at the moment. To be honest I really like the look and direction of the beta. Just needs polishing.

Is there news yet ?
I wait eagerly for CM for my P9 Lite, I hope it will soon .
Yes, the bootloader can be unlocked and it can also be rooted.
Type P9 Lite unlock bootloader into google and you should get the XDA link first.
Hello!
There is a dev working on cm for your device currently, check http://meticulus.co.vu for updates. It boots and lots of things work, but it's still not really an usable rom. But it seems to be going well, I wish all my luck for that as I myself have a Honor 5C, so having a rom for P9 Lite would basicly mean a rom for me too. The developer seems very much skilled enough to make a fully working cyanogenmod port and I think it'll be one of the first Kirin Cyanogenmod, if not the first! All praise and glory to Meticulus!

Hello guys,
I have a question, I found on MIUI website a ROM for Honor 6 (TD Advanced Version).
What are the differences between Honor 6 (TDA) and L04...?
I found this ROM here: http://en.miui.com/download-250.html
And I would to know, can I flash it or would I get problems with this?
I hope you can answer that :good:
The Honor 6 has a few variations H60-L01, H60-L02, H60-L04, H60-L12 i believe
each have very small variations, such as dual sim or NFC capabilites.
I cant speak for you, but im running that rom on my H60-L02 and its very buggy, i have to keep it in airplane mode as it constantly pops up with errors about com.android.mobile.
Im having a major headache trying to put on any other rom or stock rom without getting bootloop too.
End of the day, dont think the MIUI rom port is ready just yet.

Hello friend. I use L02 model and have installed unoffical and customized MIUI 5.3.4 version from china forum. There is only English and Chinese. But power consumption is terrible. Another things are normal and there are some small problems too.
can I flash L01 on L04 or L02 on L04
Why is this subforum soo empty ? You have a good phone, very powerfull one, but as much as I can see, no mods for it, no roms, no android 7 and some people in 2017 still stuck with android 5.1.1. It the P8max soo bad, and forgiven by the devs ? P8Lite is getting some huge updates, almost every months we get a security update and small fixes, but here.... Maybe this phone wasn't soo advertised, but ... what happend ?
P8Max doesn't get support since it wasn't a worldwide release and with it's size it's not a phone for everyone. With a Kirin SoC and no drivers you can't build Custom ROMs.
The sold it as a premium smartphone with a crap support for software.
I'm sorry for this, p8max seems to be a really good phone, I just hope huawei will uodate it regularly like he do on lite version :/
Btw, lite version doesn't have sources, drivers, but still we have 2-3 good custom roms... P8max is much more capable, sadly, it's abandoned even by Huawei... Just update the newest roms and you'll have a very good, modern phone that sometimes is even better than s5/s6

It's an ok phone. Overpriced and overhyped at the beginning.
The Phone is dead there wont by any more updates beyond this "stable" Android 6 release.
For the P8Lite Snapdragon Version its so much easier to port a ROM and i know that its possible do make Custom ROMs für Kirin SoCs but it need someone who know what he is doing.
I have my own Custom ROM based on Stock for it.
I learned my lesson, this was my first Android Phone and my last Huawei/Honor respectively non Snapdragon SoC phone.

On p8lite almost all are Kirin versions, 90% of forum readers have kirin versions, and even roms are for kirin...
Will there be future development on the mate 9 as far as custom Roms?or is it safe to say this phone is going remain stock. I respect the devs that are currently building for this device, I just don't see alot for my brand of mate9 and don't won't to rebrand. Ive read through the forums but it's still unclear to me if the Roms out now will work for on L29C567B190?
Have to rebrand at some point? Whats stopping you?
Idk I guess Ive been so used to my 6p and 1+3t, I got this mate 9 thinking it would be as sweet as 6p but like a duma** I didn't even look into it first, well just details like ram and chipset, I didnt even think of EMUI or decryption support, which I'm bootloader unlocked and rooted but want a asop stock like rom, not EMUI. Lol
EMUI on the Mate 9 is pretty close to stock AOSP
Thats quick from Huawei/Honor to be honest.
Models : COL-AL00-AL10-TL00-TL10-L29 (direct link)
Otherwise take a look over here
for more devices as well
Good luck Devs

This means roms are coming? ?
Well since the source is released for sure we can make something out of it. At the moment im focused on making Huawei P9 EU rom cause although the chinese version has an oreo, rebranding doesnt let our devices to connect in any network. So yeah bare with me and ill start working with customized emui based firmware or a GSI aosp that you will still have advantages from emui like AI, Camera etc etc.

I dont think that any member from XDA doesnt have bootloader code so far. The problem will be in the future but again if someone wants to unlock bootloader, there will be a way to do so even if that means we have to pay a bit. For the average joe its better to be locked so we will not end up solving issues from noobs begging with posts like "please help me unbrick my device".
That means volte in custom rom? Sweet!!
Hi everyone,
I got my p20 at release so I have the unlocked bootloader
After a few months of getting along with EMUI, the newest version (EMUI9) is just pissing me off with bugs and terrible performance.
I tried installing TWRP but it doesent work (cant touch any of the UI in twrp.)
In the Forum i read it has to do with EMUI9, so my question is:
Is there any way to get TWRP to work and install roms or do i have to wait for an TWRP update?
Just downgrade to emui 8, you have to do it through PC app. Just search for updates and there should be line to downgrade.
how to get unlocked bootloader code now ?

I know this reply is a bit late but anyway,
Openkirin released a build of Resurrection Remix 7.0.1 for EMUI 9 devices this week, and it looks like the P20 is on the supported list. GApps and stock Huawei camera are preinstalled. It might be your best bet for compatibility.
I was going to try it out myself but I haven't unlocked my bootloader yet (but have the code) and to be honest EMUI 9 is good enough for me as a daily driver, I can't find a good enough reason to flash.
EDIT 21/04/19: Unlocked my bootloader and installed RR 7 and touchscreen doesn't seem to be working on my phone. Same thing with Omnirom. Going back to stock for now. Devs on the Telegram support said to wait for the next build.

Yeah, but following this forum I have noticed that many users encounter problems like not working fingerprint scanner or hotspot on treble based ROMs.
Or maybe you can point on on some Android Oreo ROM working properly on P20? (Want Oreo because of Xposed, not sure if it is already ported to Pie)
Apearently software-wise Huawei is still as bad as it was 5 years ago (still remember and hate my Huawei G6), because when bought this phone (P20) hoped that at least it supports treble... sadly - just partially

Me too haha.
You could try it yourself if you really wanted to, it seems to be a hit or miss whether people have this bug or not. A dev told me a few other P10s have the problem while his own P10 works fine. I haven't seen many P20 users though.
