You can try this app to get the new firmwares for your phone model.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder
Since you are on EMUI4.0. Update to 4.1 B3XX or which ever next version is applicable for your phone model. Then you will get the system update to nougat immediately.
For example. I was on L29C432B180. I didn't get the nougat update then and I didn't get any update for 4.1 either. Once I updated it to L29C432B190 THEN I got the system update to B560.
Similarly for you, update to EMUI 4.1 using dload method first. Then switch on the wifi and see if you are able to get the system update to B563 or whichever version is applicable for your model.
So you can use firmware finder to download the EMUI4.1 version from the list you have. Download the full package. It is always better. After download, check the md5, unpack it , then push it to dload folder - > all these options are available in firmware finder app. once you are done with all these steps. Switch off the phone - > press volume + , Volume - and Power button at the same time. It will start updating.
Once that is done you are in EMUI4.1. Now switch on the wifi -you should get the system update to nougat.
Check this thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/l29-c636b563-ota-firmware-finder-t3563403
Try and see if this works for you. Hope you found this information useful. :good::good::good::good:
Hi
I also bought my Mate 8 last week. I am also in Australia. I have just updated it to 7.0 minutes ago.
Go to settings/update
click on menu
then download latest package.
It downloaded L09C636B211 for me. update to that version.
After rebooting I went to check update again and L09C636B563 was available.
buggy
My phone did an OTA update to nougat build B563 last week and I've had nothing but problems.
Random volume drops, sound may as well be off. Miss calls & notifications. Only a reboot fixes the volume.
Also it seems .M4A files are no longer supported?
The music app will play them but no sound.
The Chinese variants are up to build 573 or higher.
I think an update/fix might be a long way off?
I had received the update to Nougat via OTA on my Honor 8 early February. I, however, had to rollback to Marshmallow within a week or so as I had extremely poor battery life after the update. The rollback package on the Official Honor (US) Website didn't work for me. So I had used firmware package to switch back to Marshmallow. The current model number is FRD-L04 and the build number is FRD-C567B122.
I'm not sure if I'd receive future updates via OTA. I'm wondering if there is any patch introduced after the original update to Nougat & EMUI 5.0 and whether I should try manually upgrading again? My phone isn't rooted; could you provide any steps that would help me try a manual upgrade?
Thanks.
Hi guys! Would just like to seek some assistance regarding my girlfriend's phone. I know that the Oreo update is out for quite some time now, but her phone doesn't seem to be receiving the OTA update.
I've read some other guides instructing to use Firmware Finder(?). But I haven't tried it yet since I haven't seen her phone's build number from my searches.
Please see below:
Model: MHA-L29
Build Number: MHA-L29C185B110
We can find a lot of available firmware in the Firmware Finder app but I'm being extra cautious as I do not have any experience regarding this issue.
Any input or instructions will be greatly appreciated.
I wasnt seeing it either, called huawei support, pretty much useless. tried to do a forced Oreo update via huawei file finder and hisuite, but that bricked my phone. let the battery die down, then i got control of volume keys on boot, that got me to the erecovery, downloaded 7 again, oh well, at least it was going to work, but immediately upon reboot, it said i had an update to Oreo ready! so I did it and it worked. I think if you are rooted in 7, it wont find 8. just some food for thought.
The unit came from Dubai and we haven't done any rooting to it since we do not know how.
Is there any easier workaround for it?

FF is easiest.
But you need to choose right ROM version.
Check other threads and notice what versions of region C185 were distributed by OTA.
In FF you must choose ROM with FullOTA-MF tag.
There are 186, 187, 188, 189 builds, but I don't know which is actual, cause I have C636 region.
Builds from B321 and higher are on Android 8 (Oreo). Otherwise, I recommend upgrade to last build on Android 7, then start experimenting with Oreo
There is one build B187 with FullOTA-MF-PV tag.
According changelog it created by Huawei to downgrade onto Android 7 from Oreo. But it is still FullOTA, so it is independent one. Thoughts, that it can be used to upgrade from your old build B110 to actual.
P.s. don't forget to turn proxy off before finishing download. It will avoid traffic waste.
P.p.s. Backup your important data first.
FullOTA doesn't clear user data usually, but FullOTA-MF-PV can do it.

I saw a youtube video where he clicked the in-app proxy then he went to the WiFi settings to check to proxy. It was set to localhost and 8080.
After backing up important files, should I just go straight to the FF app and download the build? So sorry for the noob questions.

No need to download manually.
FF forces ROM to install via system update. It looks like phone will get notification about new ROM and you simply decide to install. Phone will download ROM and install it.
Okay, so all I have to do is choose the one you specified earlier them I'm all good? Will try it later and revert for any developments. Thank you!
So I tried downloading the build you suggested but after downloading, it failed to install and said the software was not authorized or something.
Are builds only compatible to its corresponding region? I'm from the Philippines, by the way. But the phone originated in the Middle East.

Ok. Check availability by imei in FF of every FullOTA ROM version 186+
Full OTA MF only? Not Full OTA MF PV?
Got the update finally! I've been checking every day almost
Hello, sorry it took so long. I successfully updated the phone to a new build no. Mha-L29c185B188. But we still couldn't see the oreo update in the updater settings. Please advise next step for an oreo update.

Hi i live in Lebanon and i have the Middle east variant C185 and i am still on MHA-L29C185B188 since 2 months.
No Oreo update till today. maybe we have to just wait a little more. Normally release of OTA updates is by IMEI and not by region.

I have a ME variant C185 as well. So I have been eagerly awaiting Oreo update since long too.
I have recently moved to Australia, as you rightly noted, the phone wouldnt update here too, since Huawei is probably checking region or IMEI or both to allow firmware updates.
Last night, I downloaded FF to check and finally managed to find Oreo update being available. Its currently downloading the 2.67 GB OTA update. But I didnt install it yet.
The version number of the download is 8.0.0.370 (C185).
You can try your luck thru FF, and I hope it works for you as well. Good luck!
Hi all,
Apologies if this is an obvious question but I am trying to ascertain the upgrade path for my UK unlocked (region 432) Mate 9.
After waiting in vain for months for my phone to get the Oreo update OTA I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade it via Firmware Finder to 8.0.0.363 (C432). I would now like to continue applying subsequent upgrades via FF (i.e. those for which my EMEI is authorised) to receive the latest Google security updates plus the recently offered Face Unlock.
My question is...... do I need to sequentially apply all of the Google security patches (e.g. February, March, April, etc.) or can I jump straight to the upgrade that includes May's security patch plus Face Unlock (8.0.0.368)? Are the security patches applied incrementally or would 368 contain everything I need to jump from 363? I would rather upgrade my phone once to get to 368 rather than 3 or 4 times.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Your phone will find and download the latest firmware. You won't need to do multiple firmware installs.
At the moment though FF is playing up. I'm on C368 and waiting for my phone to pick up C369 which is release and authorised according to FF.

I bought my son a second hand Mate 9 last February for his birthday and all is well, the phone works perfectly and he is delighted.
We were talking about software yesterday and when he might get the 9.0 pie update. It turns out he hasn't even got Oreo yet and his phone is still on 7.0 and is on February 2017 security patch!
When you search for update on the phone there is nothing, In Hicare there is nothing. I used Huawei Firmware Finder and can see a number of 8.0 updates and a couple are compatible with his phone. I have followed the app instruction method to download and install, but no joy. When I follow the process the last step is to go back to the phone settings and check for update but there is still nothing showing.
Can anyone help?
He has a Mate 9 MHA-L29 Dual Sim variant.

I used a force update with a modified hosts for Windows and modded hisuite, unfortunately I can't find the link anymore but it's here on xda somewhere.
The procedure is you download firmware Finder in your phone, find the latest firmware that is approved for your phone, then click update via erecovery, and the modded hisuite will see it and update your phone
hisuite now can update till 9.1
