Hi all,
I was wondering if someone has managed how to gain control of the led notification.
I know it's not very bright or useful, but I kinda like to give the phone a glance and see if the led is on and what colour...
I'm trying setting up "Light flow" (with root access of course), but it doesn't work properly. Sometimes it work but most of the times it seems just "not triggered" by the app or "not giving a ****" about the colour I chose (and I went for colors I know they exists).
So if someone could show me the way to control the led... Light Flow or another app...
Maybe custom roms are the way?
don't know, thank you!

Since the charging lights on the N1 have been figured out i'm wondering if, like the color trackball notifications a 'charging led' notification is anything anyone would be interested in (or is) working on.
I've searched around and have found nothing except for the wonderful "Charging LED as CPU Status Indicator" on the subject.
I am just more interested in having my regular notifications in the upper right and it seems absolutely possible and multi color too. I just don't know how.
Anyway, please give your thoughts.
Thanks.
I would like to see it used for email notifications instead of the trackball LED.
Take a look at the source at http://code.google.com/p/netmeterled/
Almost all the code you need is in ChargingLEDLib.java
One can get confused if you he has multiple apps using the LEDs...
Only the blue LED is not used for charging.

Yeah, it would be great to use the charging LED for emails.
(Bump) ...Anyone?
It's really bothersome on the EVO how LED notifications only flash for 5 minutes then stop. Would love an app that creates its own LED notification and flashes it indefinitely until viewed. I know there are other notification apps on the market, but I'd prefer one that doesn't try to create other notifications (in the bar, pop-up, etc.). Something that JUST does LED, so I can then turn LED off in Settings, would be preferable.
Also would be nice to disable the LED while charging, or to be able to interrupt it, but I have a feeling this couldn't be done through the SDK.

I'm glad you posted this gripe, I have always wondered how long it will blink the LED but never thought to stop and time the LED- I would always clear whatever alert out of habit.

I would love for someone to be able to figure out how to do that. Its just too damn bright if you are using the phone while its charging and the lights are out (for example using it as an ereader.)
I would like the LED to flash while charging for notifications, does anyone know what colors the EVO's LED can actually flash besides red, green, and orange?
I also would REALLY enjoy all of the previously noted requests. But I'd rather not root my Evo just yet...would it still be possible? (like, could this possibly just be an app?)
This is my first motorola phone in a longg time, so apologies if this is some well known thing.
Is there a way to change the settings for the LED?
I like that FB is blue and my texts are Green, but then my emails seem to also be Green... Would rather Gmail be red or something.
Thanks!

Where are the controls to turn on these light notifications (for received text, for example)? I didn't know the default settings used the notification light at all. If I had, I might not have gone looking for an app
To answer your question, there is an app called 'Light Flow' that allows you to customize the notification LED for different events. You can change things like colors and flashing speed for different app notifications (text, gmail, calendar notification, missed calls, low battery, etc) and also add other apps so that their notifications can trigger the LED.
There is a 'Lite' version of the app that is fully functional so you can try it out. I just started using it but I really like it so far.
No idea, mine were on by default haha.
But thanks! I'll go check out the app.
I don't think there is a way to control the LED without a 3rd party app.

Lightflow is awesome!
I now have my led turn orange when charging and green when charged! How did Moto forget something so basic?
Hi:
Thanks to Vector for pointing out Light Flow. Between the mysterious, single, unread text message imported from my old phone and all of the emails sent out by groupon et all in the middle of the night, the green light was flashing all night.Thankfully, Light Flow has a sleep mode that turns the light off at night.
I was ready to return the phone as it was keeping me up. Really appreciated!

Hey guys.
I'm trying to use Tasker to turn on LEDs at my will. I have successfully used LED Notifications, but I do want to just turn it on.
In "Alert" there is an option called "Set Light" in which you can set a value between 0 to 255 to different parameters. None of 'red', 'blue' or 'green' seem to work. It does work in my XPeria P (LTi22), so I know that's the option.
Am I missing something? Has anyone managed to do this?
Thanks!!
P.S: For anyone wondering, a possible scenario is: I have a LED Notification set for when my phone is fully charged. Works well unless I already have my led blinking. In that case I miss it unless I manually unlock my phone to see if there's the "Charged" notification in my status bar. On my XPeria on the other hand, if there's any notification, Tasker will turn it off and then set the LED to a 255 blue.
No one? Come on guys, please!
As far as I know, this is a limitation of stock KitKat and the Nexus 5, which do not allow the LED to be in a constant 'on' state, only pulse. Also, it is based on notification priority, the first notification received is what the LED will show. And the Nexus 5 will not allow the LED to be on while the screen is on.
I have not been able to figure it out using Tasker, but I assume it would be possible with an Xposed module, if someone were inclined to write one for this purpose.

As far as I'm aware if the screen is already on the notification light will not work.
I couldn't get it to work at all, but in the end it is.
Not certain this works - but under your phones settings go to Accessibility and at the top you should see SERVICES section. Listed under there should be Tasker, set it to ON
Hopefully this works for you.

That is what already happens by default, why would you need Tasker to accomplish this?
Try lightflow app - it will cycle thru' the notifications, with different colors for different notifications (depending on how you set it up)
Ya. That's ok. But I wanted to set the notification light with tasker. I myself found the method for that. Thanks anyway!

I gave that as an example. I just wanted to know how to set notification LED for the notification from a specific app. That's it.
Hey there,
I selected in WhatsApp that I want the LED to shine in yellow (or green or what ever) and enabled it to the normal conversations as I always did with other phones. But with my S6 it just won't seem to work out...
I activated the LED in Android (Settings, Display, Notifications). The problem is not only the color, it looks like it doesn't work at all as it should. The LED is blinking if I get mails, sms, everything - but I want to select what should be notified by LED and what not.
How can I do that?
A friend has the S5 (also with Android 6.0) and he got the same issues. The LED won't seem to work the right way.
I hope you can help me with this.
