Galaxy S7 SM-G930U restarts by itself, overheating, battery drain - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have a galaxy s7 flat unlocked, that I bought some days ago, it keeps restarting by itself when I use it about more than 10 minutes, begins by overheating and after the smartphone suddenly restarts, I have made a factory reset, I cleaned cache partition, I rooted it and cleaned some system apps that I don´t use and nothing changed.
It restarts when I use camera app or when I use the smartphone randomly, if you have something in mind, It could help me .
It is overheating almost all the time and battery drains very fast.

Have you tried flashing stock firmware via odin? If the firmwares buggered a factory reset via settings or recovery won't fix it.

hi! no, I'm not very experienced on this, I don't know which is the one that I should flash, I am using this smartphone on México, but I found that every firmware has a carrier ( I think I should get the "XAA" but I'm not sure)
GALAXY S7 FLAT SM-G930U
G930UUEU4BQH3

Can I flash this https://www.gizrom.com/android-7-0-galaxy-s7-sm-g930u-firmware/ ?

I would personally go for a central source of firmware instead of a blog site
http://updato.com is great resource, includes a start to finish guide, and has every firmware for every country. If you look under mexico there might be a non-carrier firmware.

How do you know it is overheating? Phone gets hot?
Factory reset it from Settings > General Management > Reset > "Factory Data Reset"
Or remove your Google account (Very important) from Settings > Cloud and Accounts > Accounts > Google > 3 dots top right menu > Remove Account and factory reset from Recovery
If you still want to flash new firmware, Download G930U firmware and whatever CSC you are running now (Check in Samsung Phone INFO app)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
Download firmware from here

Help! Galaxy S7 G930F Exynos - Bootloops and Crash

Hi Guys, first time posting here
Well im having problems with my phone Galaxy S7 G930F, first time updating it via OTA and problems started. First update that my phone recibed via OTA and freeze during installation, have to do a hard reboot and it pass.
Going back to factory reset didn't help me.
The phone reboot doing nothing o regular use and enters in bootloops in Galaxy S7 G930F android and the only way to stop it sometimes its to use the recovery and power off or if im lucky just reboot.
So i think its a software issue, so tried using samsung smartswich and keeps with the problems.
Next i flash my phone via ODIN using the another firmware for my phone model. and i noticed i cant seem to use the CSC file, the phone just freeze during earising or installing system.
So next i have to flash using HOME_CSC, i know how it work but for a month i had no issues but i didn't install third party's apps , pass that time keeps freezesing doing nothing o regular use, rebooting, bootloops, etc.
Try to flash to another firmware this time from my country Argentina unbranded lastest firmaware, but i cant use CSC file again, the phone just freezes during installation.
I guess it have to be something relating to memory partition.
In ODIN options im just using the default options Auto Reboot and F. Time Reset. Should i use the Re-Partition also and flash with the CSC file? to try? the FRP lock is ON dont know if that will be an issue or posible brick.
If someone could help me plz

Troubleshooting help for Rooting Samsung S7 G930F Nougat connections won't switch on

Hi
I have followed the instructions to the letter to root Android 7 on my S7 G930F. Installed TWRP & all the relevant files, flashed through TWRP & then flashed verity & SuperSU. It worked, in as far as the phone rebooted, but my Wifi won't switch on (nor will bluetooth, data or any other connection) & when I type, the letters overwrite each other.
I can cope with the overwriting, as I could get through the setup & then install Swiftkey Keyboard & log into my Samsung & Google accounts using that, but the connections just refuse to turn on. So I've had to reflash back to the original stock ROM as below (from Sammobile, as my phone has not had the update sent to me yet).
Anyone else had this problem? Not seen it anywhere else (so far).
Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F (UK)
Android 7.0
Baseband: G930FXXU1BPHJ
Build No: NRD90M.G930FXXU1DQB7

Hi
How did you upgraded to Nougat? I see that your modem is still on Marsmellow
Hi Max
I downloaded the latest Nougat firmware from Sammobile (the one for UK/Ireland & HG3 is the same one, my network is 3 but my phone is European unlocked) & flashed it. Are you saying it's the modem that's the problem?
Thanks

Hi
That baseband seems old , when you upgraded your phone what files did you use . usually you have 5 files , from those 5 you use 4 ,AP BL & CP + home_csc or CSC ......CSC will factory reset your phone , home_csc will not reset your phone if it is the same as the one in your phone
Hi Max
Ah hah, when I flashed the ROM, I only used the biggest file, didn't touch the others. Maybe I should try to flash it again with the other files too, as you've suggested. That's not mentioned in any instructions I've seen. I'm sort of halfway between a novice & an almost medium novice with regard to this kind of thing.
I will give that a go tonight - thanks very much!

Is all part of the learning process
Yes i would do so , flash the full rom
As guide you can check this thread

Good luck
Thanks Max. Unfortunately, it still didn't work. I took the liberty of downloading an XEU UK ROM from Sammobile (the original one I'd got one for my network, which gave me the 3 logo when I booted up, so I didn't want that). I flashed it as per the instructions with all the files, then I went through the root instructions. I booted up fine, but still the same prob - Wifi wouldn't activate, although the keypad was fine this time. Very odd!
Info is now:
Android 7.0
Baseband Version: G930FXXU1DQB1
Build No: NRD90M G930FXXU1DQB7
I think I may not bother, the S8 will be out soon & I intend to get that, so I may wait on root info on that. I've disabled the bloatware for now.
Many thanks again for your help though!

Hi
Strange... what error gives you? how it does behave when you try to connect?
Check you settings , avoid smart connection , did you check in a different wifi
Also did you try to factory reset , and wipe dalvick and cache from recovery
Hiya
It doesn't give an error, I've factory reset the phone through TWRP, so I get the usual setup menu - select your language, then it goes to the Wifi screen. Usually Wifi will switch on & a list of routers come up almost straight away. After I've rooted, the phone boots, I get the setup page, select my language, then the Wifi page just says "Switching on" & does nothing, just stays like that., nothing comes up. I've even left it for well over 10 minutes & it does nothing except saying "Switching On", so if I skip that section, go through the rest of the setup & finish, when I go back to connections in settings, it says the Wifi is on, but it's "greyed out", i.e I press it & nothing happens & it's not connected anywhere.
I haven't tried wiping Dalvick & cache through recovery though. I'm off work next week, I will probably dedicate some time to it then, I don't like something like this beating me!!
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

No way , never beating
Try to boot in "SAFE MODE" to make sure there is no app making trouble ....
Press and hold the Power key.
As soon as you can see the ‘Samsung Galaxy S7 ’ on the screen, release the Power key and immediately hold the Volume Down key.
Continue holding the Volume Down button until the device finishes rebooting.
You may release it when you can see ‘Safe mode’ in the bottom left corner of the screen.
I can remember something about there being a minimal setup for Nougat, but this can only be done by the stock recovery.("sec_csc.zip" recovery script in the csc image If you're interested. Apparently got something to do with default language settings which bugs out the keyboard) If booting in safe mode as mentioned above doesn't help can you please try the following:
Flash the full ROM again(All files in relevant slots in odin) but not the HOME csc with auto reboot ticked. The phone will factory reset and boot into the setup screen. Run through the ROM setup and only once it's done flash TWRP and root. AFAIK this only needs to be done once per device, after which you can factory reset with TWRP again

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is not booting even after a factory reset
A mobile app. for Android was installed successfully and since then I’m only having issues with my Samsung mobile:
- Since the installation of both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps, my mobile freezes during any regular action and after a few seconds the device auto-restarts itself intermittently; this happened during the weekend while in use;
- Sunday night I uninstalled both the Hockey & Mobile Banking apps and the phone continued to freeze and restart intermittently. I was able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning after the phone was turned off and turned on, the phone is not loading; the boot is looping and unable to reach the menu. I’m able to boot in SAFE MODE.
- This morning I did a Factory Reset, when done I get the “welcome” screen and right thereafter, the mobile freezes, auto-restarts and the boot keep looping.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Hey guys, any suggestions...? I tried last night restoring the OS using Samsung Smart Switch application and the process went just fine the first time and during the setup process the phone just restarted against and for stuck in bootloop again.
I did a second attempt but after the PC is don and the phone boots it gets stuck.
Sometimes after restoring stock firmware and you get a bootloop, you have to boot to stock recovery and factory reset then wipe cache partition.
I know you said you did that once before you posted, you did that before you used SmartSwitch. Have you tried factory reset since restoring with SmartSwitch?
Yes, I did with SS last night; I did it again this morning and after completing the 100% software download, it started updating the device and at 97% it stopped and got the message "FAILED".
now as we speak, I restarted it again and now it's at 66^ downloading the files.
How can I perform a clean install using SS...? or do I need ODIN...? I want to keep the mobile as original as possible.
If you can find your stock firmware, download it and flash it with Odin, it's more reliable.
Maybe a stupid question: Where can I find my stock firmware...?
My info:
PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)
I found the Firmware on SAMMOBILE: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s6-edge/SM-G925F/XFA/download/G925FXXU4DPIX/108273/
Is this a stock Firmware and reliable source...?
Sammobile is a very reliable source, if that firmware is the newest one for your model number and country/region/carrier then you're good to go.
I did install Firmware corresponding to my phone (PDAIX / CSCI2 / PHONE: PHH (XFA)) using Odin, I can use the phone for like 2 or 3 minutes and then it freezes, restarts and gets into boot loop.
Any more drastic measurements to take...? Is there an online tool to test the hardware function(s)...?
After flashing stock firmware, have you tried booting to stock recovery then do the factory reset and wipe cache then reboot.
Yes, I did...!
In ODIN, do I load only the "AP"...?
In most situations, AP is all you need if the firmware is an all in one firmware file, if you have a 4 part firmware then you need to put each part in its corresponding tab/slot in Odin.
Sometimes you have to flash more than once to be successful.
My phone is running like a horse now...! No more intermittent restarts nor boot looping.
I just did a clean install of Android 7.
The clean install of Android 7 went fine and now it's working back again, was because I changed the "Reactivation Lock" to OFF; I think this helped.

Galaxy S6 - freezing and rebooting 50+ times a day

I've got a Vodafone UK version SM-G920F that has recently started to freeze, crash and reboot constantly.
I managed to back up my data and perform a factory reset from the Setting page, but it crashed 10+ times during the install process (would freeze at various different stages, either rebooting on its own, or requiring a Vol Down+Power reset)
I'm now on a fresh install, but it's still rebooting constantly. I managed to use it like normal for an hour today, but right now it's just rebooted 3 times and won't even get past the Samsung loading screen without several Vol Down+Power resets.
What other options do I have? And is anyone aware of a known hardware issue that could cause this?
I was considering flashing a different ROM, but I'm scared it would reboot during the process and corrupt something...

Maybe a battery issue?
a friend just gave me his very same model phone with the very same issues.. if I find out anything I'll tell you here, or if you solve it first please write down what you did.
Thanks Vibbuz.
I've been trying to download a stock firmware to flash via Odin, but download speeds from Updato are really bad.
So I managed to flash a firmware after installing Odin on a Windows laptop (painful trying to get it to work on my Mac)
Firmware installed OK, but after boot I was getting a constant "com.sec.epdg" pop-up box that wouldn't let me use the phone at all. Not sure if that's due to the tsar3000 firmware?
Wiped the cache and did a factory reset after booting into recovery, and now it's stuck in a boot-loop again (95% of the time it hangs at the Samsung logo animation)
Just tried using SamFirm v0.3.6 to find the correct file. Downloaded a 4gb file, but several attempts to extract only gives BL, CP, CSC files but no AP (throws up an Unknown Error during process).
So still stumped!
Yet another update. Left Updato running overnight and downloaded a firmware.
Flashed it with Odin, claims to have succeeded but phone then reboots and hangs at "Erasing" stage (Android logo is spinning, then stops)
I'm starting to think it's pretty broken...
I've been having this exact same issue since June. If your phone happens to boot try activating power saving mode (to reduce cpu speed) as soon as possible.
It seems that doing that diminished the frequency in which my phone rebooted. If it also helps you it might be a faulty battery that can't provide enough voltage. (I'm not 100% sure on this part though, just thought of it because of the apple batteries drama)
Please post your results! Looks like a lot of people are affected by this and it would be great if we could find the cause of the problem.
I just read your thread actually! Sounds very similar to mine.
I've got nowhere. I don't think it's hard-bricked as I can still access Odin mode on the phone, and sometimes boots to Recovery, but it freezes and various different points and is currently unusable (either freezes at Samsung logo, "Erasing" part after installing firmware, or once it started to run though new device setup then froze).
Went ahead and bought an S8, but still want to fix the S6!

Hi I have same Problem I send the my s6 for repairmen that Saied me this problem related to mobile Hard drive.
I didn't believe it and try some official rom and a rom from Philippine GLB solve my problem for 3 M/o but now developed as same problem whitout any successful rom installation.
I think this problem from incompatibility google play store version to my rom. please flash a custom rom without google apps and immediately after installation turned off data and Wi-Fi internet after 2 day whit sim card whit out any change in setting can use it.
Hello,
anyone found some kind of solution? Happened to me also - freezing, restarts and then my S6 stopped working.. Sometimes I can boot to recovery menu, sometimes it boots up to android (and then freezes again), but the chances are almost non existing. Service man told me the same thing as @ghasemzm - eMMC failure. Yes, it is completely possible, but i don't wanna believe it, because they only tried to reflash the rom. I've made some "google research" and found that there were some issues in power IC on S6/S6E. Could this be related to it?

Will test the theory and let the group know.
So i have installed philipines latest update 6.0.1 i think with PIT file provided on Sammobile.
I have tested it for a day with normal ussage like i set up every other phone and it still continued restarting.
Figured out let me test with no google account signed in and the phone is working perfectly. For a full day.
So i dont know what the problem is but i will try again with google account tomorrow for a day see what happens.
After that will install 7.0.1 uk update with PIT file for it and test with that.
I have the same problem and I am quite sure that it is the mobile hard drive.
I tried to use F2FS but didn't find a working rom for that.
Samsung refused repair because of root.... Never Samsung again!
same issues here - any solutions found? My best guess is hardware fault...

Upgrading to 12 bricked phone - Factory reset loads 12 but enrolled in Knox

New 10 XEU N970F bricked when trying to update. Gets passed the logo to 4 swirling dots and just stays there - tried soft reset, plugging it into PC on Smart Switch, wipe cache and hard reset. same every time.
Samsung are like "you might have bought it New and still security sealed but it's still out of warranty it'll cost you for us to flash it ..."
Read up and got hold of Odin and the latest firmware - same swirly dots.
Tried Factory reset again and yay it started except it's "configured by SAMSUNG Electronics UK enrolled in Knox. So tries to load retail mode and is locked down - no factory reset option (even in Boot Loader) loads of Google apps don't work, Google Play Store not available hell I can't even change the wallpaper or set Biometrics to log on. It is on 12 though...
Suggestions?
Try wiping the NAND and repartition maybe and then try Odin again? Give up and see if I can get a refund?
I'm an Android dabbler, I've rooted and added custom ROMS to older non Samsung devices in the past but only following guides or using scripted tools.
Any help gratefully appreciated

Set Odin to repartition and clear NAND and do all but the userdata and it rebooted to a fresh install enrolled to Knox ..... Arse!
So it turns out using Knox to enrol devices to your organisation is pretty solid - It's linked to the IMEI as far as I can gather and has a hardware flag (I'm assuming from it's behaviour - so I'm stuffed. Tried the support at Samsung again and with some effort and a couple of links to Knox documentation finally got her to understand what I was saying. Couldn't help of course but gave me another dept to try when they open on Monday...
Sent it back for a replacement - with little fuss from the reseller. Replacement won't update...
