Hi everyone,
I am very sad to find out that my stock ROM distribution does not have the permissions manager, startup manager, virus scanner included. Do you guys have any idea how to get those apps, preferably by installing them, not by flashing with another rom?
Thanks a lot!
I've got the international honor and would like to know this as well!
Some of those apps are hidden and you can unhide them for example the permission manager. The sad thing is, you can activate the permission manger but it wont work
could someone using the l01 emui 3 update on l04 tell me if these apps work? i might just try updating then
I have installed the L04 on my L12 and the permission manager did not work. I unhide it and activated it but no functionality
I'm interested to know too, expecially to enable the encryption option.
For the ones who are still on Lollipop and EMUI 3.1, the PM Plus app will give you power to control applications permissions and start up. The new options will show up under "Privacy and Security" and inside the Phone Manager app. Apparently, does not work with EMUI 4.0, and Google PlayStore blocks this app to be installed on you Honor 5x. More discussion and the file link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/permission-manager-t2995075
i couldn't install the google dialer apk on my honor 8 phone (FRD-L04). Tried sideloading various versions of it downloaded from apk mirror, nothing get installed.
Could somebody help out if you have managed to install the same

Google store says my phone isn't compatible.
Are you rooted?
Is your phone rooted? It's the only way this will work.
Take this apk, use a root file explorer (I like solid explorer) and copy it to root/system/priv-app. Then edit the read/write permissions ( I usually enable everything).
You can also use link2sd to make the apk a system app.
Then just reboot your phone and you should be good to go.
You'll have to go to apps, settings, pick defaults, and choose it as the dialer.
Also, if you are rooted, you can then delete the stock dialer, but be careful, you might delete the wrong thing and then no phone for you. (I had that issue, but a kind forum member was able to get me the missing apk)
If somehow it DOES get messed up, you'll have to reflash via dload, or get the correct apks and place them on priv-app (again, if you're rooted)
thanks for the reply.. i don't want to root my phone though..

yeah same here...
Not sure how the compatibility check works..
Google has published these contacts and Phone / dialer app in play store. but its not installable in all phones..
i followed another thread..
and installed google contacts sync apk, (gave it all permissions) then contacts apk and then dialer apk, this way i am able to get the dialer app installed (but its version 3.x only, other versions i couldn't get install),
Now i got the Dialer icon (blue) one it opens the regular dialer interface. but when i make call the interface goes to Honor 8 dialer app interface.. not sure how this works..

I know this is a few months old...
I was looking for a higher version number of Google Dialer that could be compatible with the Honor 8.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the only version compatible: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...71529-nonnexus-android-apk-download/download/
I've used this very same version on my Moto X Pure.

This is best compatible with AOSP ROMs.
Wasn't the first question about installing Google Dialer on an Honor 8? It was even stated that they tried to sideload multiple different versions as well... from APK Mirror... the same place I shared the link from. I merely wanted to state that the version I linked to is the last version that I know personally works on phones that aren't Nexus/Pixel. All you can do is try it or not. It works. Just download, install normally, set it to default app.
The dialer installs just fine on the honor 8. I'm running it right now. There's a few threads about how to do it correctly here on XDA. First rule, search before asking.

This isn't a new thread - it's months old. Someone just resurrected it by adding a new comment. And yes, the app can be side loaded onto the Honor 8, but it will only be the dialer and contact list UI. The in call UI will remain stock and caller id will not work.
Results with rooted devices may vary though.
I have a fully stock, non-rooted, T-Mobile-branded Galaxy S8+, and I just got the Oreo updated pushed to me the other day.
Since the upgrade, I notice that I am no longer able to extract APKs using file manager programs. ES File Explorer Pro, FX Explorer, Solid Explorer, and two versions of "APK Extractor" seem to just not see any apps at all. I've checked every single setting I can find in the device, I've checked permissions, I've spent hours Googling for this and searching XDA with no luck.
Is anyone else having this problem and/or are there any solutions or fixes? I don't see this as boding well for our development efforts in the future, if we can't even extract APKs now!
It works on every Nokia 6 (2017) though my model is PLE (TA-1021 Indian variant) it helps mainly to bring back volte to users who are on Ta-1000 rom. Cast works fine as you know.
This tutorial is made keeping in mind that many of Nokia 6 users didn't unlock bootloader (anyway unofficial paid method is available) and also you should have been following other threads else it might be confusing.(read all steps fully before proceeding)
Step 1 : downgrade your device install 7 to forum recovery (you should know this step).
Step 2 : Flash any Ta's(I used Ta-1021) pie rom which has volte feature from recovery and just take an apk called networkconfig in system/product/overlay folder. (Copy to sd card then to pc or directly into external sd ) I don't have back up of this app if someone provide app alone you can skip this flash.
Step 3 : wipe complete system now and flash Ta-1000 rom and root it with magisk in advanced options (if failed for one time do it twice)
Step 4 : reboot system and install magisk manager 5.9.x or older now that you are rooted do whatever you want to have space in system for your modifications delete useless apps in product folder any way if your model is not ta-1000 you can't use most of them (I deleted all of them even replaced clock calender calculator with Google apps as these apps sucks)
[Note: In product folder you have music and voice recording stock apps to make them work for non D1C devices place them in system apps]
Then delete all apps in overlays for better experience and place app you took in step 2 in here. [For volte]
Step 5 : now that you are rooted uninstall powerg3 app use link2sd if you are not familiar to do manually. (This step is to bring back battery saver toggle for non D1C device)
You may uninstall powersaver and battery manager apps. In system folder for orginal Aosp apps to function (I didn't try this before unrooting but forums said it helps in saving battery) anyway I confirm this is true as i freezed these apps now by disabling these apps to modify system.
Step 6 : you can't root it again so make sure you did all modifications you want now download magiskuninstaller and flash it now flash boot image from rom zip and reboot. Now your phone has every thing.
(If you forget something you have to do everything from first again)
Process is not as confusing as it looks only thing is I'm in hurry I will edit it once I'm free.
If this helped you please do comment and say if you do any other modifications.
Ta-1021 is hybrid slot but still you can use both sims and memory card just YouTube ( It works)
If you can rewrite this with links to specific threads according to procedure, i think many people will do this.
Thanks
