Waterproof Case Help! - Xperia Z5 Compact Accessories

I've had my Z5 Compact for 2 years now and have no problems with the device whatsoever. Main selling points for me were the MHL-Out and the FM Radio, as well as the IP68 resistances and the Comapct sizing(making this exact dream phone - wide and bulky phones kinda suck imho).
The problem I've had for the past 2 months is that my battery swelled up and my back cover has lifted a bit and the waterproofing is now all but gone(given I use a bumper and screen protectors only).
Tried repairing it by replacing the battery and the adhesives but I am not confident enough that the IP68 rating will still be the same given my repairs.
I know this phone is being phased out of the market, but can anyone recommend a completely waterproof case for the Z5C?
Really appreciate the feedback.

Since the device is normally IP68 rated, any waterproof casing would be of trifling use. Not worth making. i doubt any such casing exists for this device.
You *might* be lucky finding some generic waterproof casing, but those are usually extremely bulky and/or really ugly, and not as waterproof as they'd promise. Not to mention that they'd not have a good fit.

Case for snowboarding/skiing?

I plan to do alot of Snowboarding this year, I need a case that will protect my phone hardcore, maybe just a solid case, doesnt even have to be functional.
Yes, sometimes I need my phone on the mountain cause I lose track of friends and need to call them.
Maybe get a normal case and put it in a waterproof pouch? I haven't seen many seriously protective cases for the sgs yet...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I use my Burton Esquire jacket ... all the protection I ever need.
I have also a great jacket (a nitro 20.000 waterproof ans 20.000 value as Breathable) but with low temperature the battery drains very fast (because I'll use the galaxy s as a camera @720p)... so i'll buy the Galaxy S Power Pack EBB-U10 that give me 3000mAh and a great extra protection for low temperature for the battery.....
Im not so much worried about water leaking in as I am about cracking the screen.
also, batteries will actually last longer in the cold. Its heat you have to worry about.
I do a lot of rock climbing and about to post asking for bluetooth headset advise!
Put the phone in a case-mate tough case which done a grand job even after a back fall from a boulder wall. Totally forgot I had the phone on me also know it was a lucky fall to not bend (break the screen) the phone.

The case comes in two parts
a rubber inside sleeve that I would imagine protects from shock. Outer skin is a hard plastic design for direct impact protection.
Case has a solid feel back and side edges but the weak points would be top/bottom edges that are only protected by the softer inside rubber.
£17.99 UK took f..king weeks to arrive but happy with price and product

Looking or updated waterproof case opinions...

Hi all,
I've done the digging on this forum and seems its been a few months since many of you have chimed in on waterproof S6 cases.
It seems the best options are Lifeproof FRE or Dog and Bone Wetsuit. That said, I've read two things: 1) those who swear by Lifeproof despite the complaints and 2) those who bought it and were highly disappointed.
Both are pricey.
Which is thinner?
I see Dog and Bone claims to use a tempered glass protector but I've read in multiple places it feels like plastic, not tempered glass. That said, I realize the outer layers of tempered glass are plastic.
I also read the Dog and Bone reduced radio reception quite a bit. Is this true?
How easy is it to remove either of these? Can I put these on when I need to go on adventures and switch back to my Spigen Neo Hybrid when I want slim? The 2nd problem with that is I generally use tempered glass so I guess I'll have to remove this to put on either of these cases?
EDIT: After more digging I'm also curious about these options: Punkcase SpikeStar, Ghostek Atomic. The Punkcase reviews on Amazon almost all say it's good but the bad ones are very short anonymous, and not very detailed.. which almost makes me think the other big names are having trolls badmouth the little guys.. but who knows.
Thanks.
I have lifeproof. I was considering dog&bone wetsuit as well, but limited availability, warranty, and price (lp was half price than d&b on amazon) were drawbacks. Lifeproof works well with tempered glass sp (mine's 0.2mm thick). Had issue with crack in charging port cover, contacted lifeproof and they replaced it with a whole new case, paid 5 dollars for shipping, no hassel. I have complete confidence in the waterproofing nature of case, and it's surprising light. (Lighter than my neo hybrid metal). Let me kknow if you have any more questions.
I'm thinking of getting this one. Couldn't find too much on it though.

So despite the negative reviews I've read, would you recommend Lifeproof as a case to switch to for excursions when waterproof is desired? Then switching back when back to normal (dry) life?

That's exactly what I do. I use neo hybrid for protection in dry weather. Spigen liquid crystal at home. And lifeproof whenever I'm outdoors camping, or otherwise. It's quite easy to take the case off with a coin.
As long as you take care of the case, it'll last you.
One of the biggest complaints was Power port cover breaking off, and it's 99.9% user error/negligence. Sound, admittedly, will degrade in quality, but I see it as a fair trade off for waterproof feature.
I was very tempted to get Dog and bone, but they're availability is scarce (it's from Australia). Also the price is double than LP.
If you're in canada/Us, don't buy it from retail. Buy it from amazon, and you'll pay almost half the price of retail.
Try to avoid off-brand cases. They usually have very poor quality, and warranty if there is a problem with the case. Invest a little more and opt for a reputable brand, whether you choose LP or D&B.

Thanks. I'll probably do Lifeproof. I do wish for the price of the case it had better than a 1 year warranty. They could do much better saying "Lifetime" knowing that most people don't keep their phone for more than 3 years.
The extreme muffled sound of life proof was a deal beaker. I could hardly hear voice in a noisy environment. I had life proof and returned it then got a dog and bone which has no audio issue and you can almost use it day to day. By comparison life proof looks better made/more shockproof.

The best case for Redmi Note 2, hands down.

I have the same one, and I am pretty happy with it too.
I have one also, but it doesn't let the infrared light to pass trough it's glass (i verified with a camera). Does the infrared light works on your's? Otherwise I like it very much.
Yes, that back battery cover really good! I'm already using for 3 weeks now. It saved my phone when it has fallen down a concrete surface.
Not any problem with remote control functions.
Other info: I would not recommend any back cover what is FULL aluminium. I bought one and the GPS signal went low!
I have this one also and I can confirm no problems with IR or any other system.

Thanks, bought and will come back and tell you how good/bad it is!
I have the brown one.
Really love it.
Very cheap ( +- $5 ) but very good quality :good:
How is this case in terms of protection, does the metal framing provide better protection as opposed to silicon? will it be enough to protect the phone from falling on hard surfaces?
Actually it's plastic and not metal but it's good enough for a few bumps ...if it goes off really bad I don't think there's a case that will protect your phone.
I've dropped my phone a few times already, unfortunately. I've been lucky so far, I agree with PascM that no case will protect you from a really bad fall.
One fall was on one of the edges from about 1m on a wooden floor, no damage at all. The other fall was from the same height flat on the screen, only scratched the (glass) display protection.
Hmm I have one it looks fantastic but it seems to hinder wifi range... I want to take it off and compare, but how do I take it off?? Its really tight and good fitting is there some technique I can use ??

Finally arrived, I am very pleased with the cover.
It fits great and although it seems to hinder my GPS signal, I don't really care as I could swap it if I really had the need, and I am not even 100% sire it is the cover.
The grip is grea and the build is great for the price.
I dropped my phone and the case has now a dent, but it is normal as it is cheap plastic.
For the summer time maybe consider buying another color which isn't black!
Thats all, thx OP for the heads up.

The best.
I just get delivered this one

and I have to say I'm very satisfied. It feels very solid and fits tightly. It's much better than original case. Only "problem" is that back of it is tempered glass and it's polished so if you have sweaty hands like me, you are not gonna avoid fingreprints on it.
I've had like 3 of them, the "aluminium paint" wears off. It's a good case for like 2 months, I'm using the phone without a case atm.
Got a brown one as well. Much better than the glass one I bought before which made it just noticeably too heavy and thick. definitely recommend.
Now to find a glass screen protector that doesn't shatter from the easiest fall.

Metal Case with glass screen protector

Just came across the Moto X Pure Edition Case,Mangix Water Resistant Full-body Rugged Gorilla Glass Aluminum Alloy Protective Metal Heavy Duty Cover Case for Motorola Moto X Style / Pure Edition 2015 (Black) on Amazon. Thinking about getting it but once again $26 for a brand I do not know is keeping me doubtful. Anyone familiar with Mangix/Love Mei brand? What are your thoughts? There are other color options available.
I have this one lying here. There is also a video review on youtube. I bought mine because I wanted to see if I can seal the case to be waterproof for going motorcycling. The case in its factory state is definitely not waterproof, as the bottom has open holes for camera and mic. Furthermore, it is a mighty beast. It weights real 260g by itself and adds around 8mm on each side. So your phone will weight a hefty 437g in that case. Besides this, the case is very well built. It fits, the massive rubber shell should offer great protection on drops (not tried), the integrated glass should withstand some physical abuse (not tried). Holes for usb and headphone look like as if they are large enough (not tried). Power and volume buttons work great.
All in all, it seems to be a good case. But there's definitely a reason why otterbox is plastic. I will most surely not put this in my backpack when going hiking, two chocolate bars are a much better choice. Also, some ppl have reported that the metal body decreases antenna reception. Have not tried it myself.
Summary (3 max)
+3 built quality
+2 protection (-1 for not being waterproof)
-2 for everyday use
I wonder why it's so difficult to get true waterproof cases. Using a smartphone for car / motorbike navigations has become common these days. They are about to replace incar systems. And as the market just does not offer affordable rugged nav solutions (yes, I own a garmin and tried several others, just not anywhere near the quality of smartphone navigation capabilites - for the price), going waterproof with the smartphone is a logical alternative. The first company selling a highend smartphone along with a waterproof case and a rugged power plug will win me as customer. Oh yes, my last phone was a rugged china outdoor phone. The vendor was "No.1", identical to the "caterpillar" or "land rover" phones. 5.5' display android v4 for 70€. Its native case was really waterproof (did the lengthy shower test), but the rest was uttermost trash (bad audio quality, no public root nor factory image, no wifi reception). And it passed away silently during charging over the night, about 4 weeks ago. So I was ready for a decent phone, which became the X style/pure.
Thanks. While the case looks neat and rugged, if there really is the issue with it causing reception problems, then it is definitely a no go. One of the several reasons I went Motorola is because the phones tend to have stronger reception... At least in my experience. I've had several devices from several companies (3 Samsung, 3 LG, 2 HTC, 2 Nokia and one Microsoft Lumia, and 4 Motorola). Aside from Nokia/ Lumia devices, Moto has usually not had dropped calls at my job unlike the other brands. I'll stick with what works.
As far as waterproof, some manufacturers are making phones themselves waterproof (within limits of course). Sony is the one offering multiple models, both flagship and "budget". Samsung has made a couple themselves.
As far as waterproof cases, the reputable companies tend to focus on those phones with high volume sales, such as Samsung flagships (Galaxy and note models) and iPhone as this is where the money to be made is at. Moto phone sales are relatively small compared to those two.

New case review for mi4C - The Original IPAKY Neo Hybrid

Hello !
I have been using the IPAKY case for the last five month since January and I have to say I'm amazed!
It still looks great, it's VERY light, it literally keeps the phone compact, I don't feel bulkiness, It feels good in the hand, you can still use the phone in one hand, feels great!
It's made of 2 parts, the bumper is plastic and the body is made of TPU, it keeps the screen from getting broken, my phone fell so many times of my hand and it still intact with the original screen protector in place(the Mocolo from my previous post, WITH NO SCRATCHES OR CRACKS ON IT)
You can see that part of the plastic shows very little, to no wear. That is nothing that should concern you, it does not ruin the look of the case or has any effect other than visual.
Link to buy - as usually from trusted suppliers:

Link to purchase the Mocolo screen protector, You'll be buying 2pcs, keep one for spare, you never know when you might need it.
In addition, this is the official shop, I have been buying here for years and so did most of Ali Express users who are buying their products.

Thanks.
Josef.
after two months there is some paint scratching off the edges from the silver part although mine has never survived a fall or whatever similar and is carried in leather pouch, so I'd say the painting quality is poor, but overall the case is much better and not bulkier than an average silicon case, so I keep using it - but next time I'd choose black/black version of ipaky for two reasons: 1) the painting quality mentioned above 2) in the car, mounted on windshield, the silver parts give unpleasant glare (not directly, but there are reflections on the glass) in bright daylight
Yeah, the paint really doesn't bother me, so I don't think it's a big deal.
I used that case for a lenovo K3 note. With the note, options were limited and the ipaky looked nice. It lasted about 3 months and the plastic outer shell cracked and finally completely separated around the power button.
The ipaky for the mi4c is slightly more robust - but veeeerrry slightly. I can't honestly say I expect it to last more than 6 months.
A like the looks ipaky, the minus i have some off my headphone jacks 3,5 cannot plug properly and also the back speaker sound a little blocked by the case
