File On Pixel 2 - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Guys-
I got my Pixel 2 yesterday and its been a great experience so far. I browsed to my download folder, and I was surprised to find a file called "e9ec4b41d4cc7fc2377b3826b7ba4cf2cd9d053b.bin" in the download folder. Does anyone know what it is? A quick Google search pulled (1) result This is not the one that was on my device but surprisingly the same file name. Any ideas?

The number in the name looks like a hash, but I have no idea what that file is.

I actually was hoping someone would post their a systemui.apk and framework-res.apk. trying to get system colors and whatnot. Anything would be greatly appreciated

I noticed it on my phone a few days ago. It was dated Dec 5th, coincident with the date a system update was to be made available. The file was visible to the download app but was not visible over USB to either the dolphin file manager or simple-mtpfs. When I used the download app to move it into a subdirectory it became accessible over USB. According to the linux file command it's a JAR file.
My phone is updated to Nov 5th. 5 days after the Dec 5th update was due, I check for updates and my phone still says it's up to date. Perhaps the mystery file is a dropping from an update that for some reason failed or was interrupted.

[Q] Transfering data to new phone

Hi Peeps,
Could anybody help me with the following please?
I am trying to transfer some app data from my old Samsung phone to my new N5. The app is Driftwood Apps Stronglog. I have contacted the developer who has sent me the info below but I cannot find the file nor folder.
>>>>
Right now I don't have a way of transferring the database. However, the database file is located in data/data/workouts/workout.db if you can get write access to that directory you could copy that file over to your new phone

Hi. I love your strong log app. I've just changed phones and would like to transfer the data from one to the other. Is this stored in a particular file please?
Titanium backup is the best way. You need to be rooted.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Directly copying just the workoutsDB.db to the appropriate place on the new phone, after Strong Log has been installed and launched once worked for me. (On a Moto Razr Maxx)
I tried it a few other ways without luck, but their dev emailed me these specific steps and it did the trick:
1. copy the original workoutsDB.db file somewhere
2. install Stong Log on the new device
3. open Strong Log (the schema for the database is created on initial opening of the app)
4. close app.
5. find the new workoutsDB.db file and delete it.
6. add the old workoutsDB.db and reopen the app.

Couple of notes:
A. On my phone the workoutsDB.db file lives in /data/data/com.driftwood.workouts/databases/. You need root to read and write to the /data directory.
B. The only file I replaced was the workoutsDB.db file. I left the workoutsDB.db-journal file, and the rest of the files that are created on first launch as they were after the first-launch.
C. I killed the Strong Log app after doing the first-launch of Strong Log and before replacing the workoutsDB.db. (May not matter but seemed safer to me.)
D. When you re-open Strong Log, it will still ask you for your birthday, but it makes sense that birthday wouldn't be part of the workoutDB. Once you get past the birthday screen, your old workouts are all there.
:good: Go get strong! (And remember how strong you used to be!)

[Q] can i update a file via email

Hi, I’m looking for a way to update a file (override it if need be) on the SD Card from an email attachment with one click, sort of like a Batch file in windows.
We have 50 tablets at work and every now and then we need to update a price list file. Most of the users are not Too bright and cant copy from the attachment and then navigate to the correct folder and then paste the file in. I would like to know if there is any way to automate this like a batch file in windows, is it even possible.
All tablets are using 4.2.1 and are Asus TF300T and NOT Rooted. I usually email the updated file then have to spend 15 min with EACH person holding their hand to update it. Any help or direction to a thread with something similar would be very appreciative
Nobody ever had the need to do this ??
Ok if this is not the correct spot to post this question, then where should i ?

Zip to android fail Windows 8.1

I have a rooted Xperia U with the TerraRom. I wanted to check out another rom called Infinity Rom v3. I downloaded it from the website, and dragged the file from my downloadfolder too the root of my Xperia U, where theres a hundred folders including my old Rom. I got an errror message up the second I let go of the folder. I have the norwegian language turned on, so I probably won't write the error code just like Windows is supposed too, but it was something like this: "Can't copy the file. The device stopped answering or is disconnected.". First I though that it was something wrong with the connection, but I found that transfering other zip files to the device is not a problem. I also tried to redownload the file, but the error appeared anyway. The file could be opened with WinRar, but not with 7zip. The file contained 2 folder, one called META-INF and one called system. There were also 2 files with the same names.
Winrar gave me an error message too, saying that the zip was/had unintentionally stopped (working) or something.
This is very annoying, and I would love if someone could take the time too tell me the problem, as that would help me a lot. Thanks

I can't find a way to change the usb connection between mtp and ptp in the storage section of the settings application. I tried turning my phone off and on, but no difference.

I have restarted my pc, and my storage still got plenty of space left. It's only this one file that won't transfer. I have tried many other files and they work, but this one doesn't. :/

[Q] One Plus One stock file manager problem. (NEED HELP)

I use a one plus one. I recently updated my cell phone to Cyanogen mod version 12.0-YNG1TAS2I3.
Now I transferred some files into the secure folder of the stock file manager present in the phone from another folder in the phone only. I actually transferred two folders. Now I open the secure storage with a password to see that the folder is not showing. A folder was previously present in it that still shows but the one I moved 12 hours ago is no where to be found. Please I need help with this as it had really important files. Anyone with a good solution is always welcome, thank you.
I've got the exact same problem, did you manage to find the files?

Help with Currency Converter Small App ( com.sony.smallapp.currency)

Hey all,
This "small app" has recently become broken because the source for the currency file's URL has changed.
When the app is newly installed, it pops an error at first launch:
"Unable to download currency file. Please try again later".
It broke around mid-july 2018.
What I'm looking for is the latest available currency file so that the program can at least work (even if it can't update).
It should be located at:
Android/data/com.sony.smallapp.currency/files/
If someone could kindly .zip and upload the "files" folder here, it would be majorly helpful.
Thanks.
i think is that the data to work again
I think is the data to work..i hope work again

Thanks much for your reply stathis, sadly that doesn't fix it.
If your device is rooted, could you copy and upload the following folder as well:
/data/data/com.sony.smallapp.currency/
I believe something in the .xml changes when the soft has successfully downloaded the .csv file by itself.
Thank you.
This is only found ..i hope work

It worked finally!
Also while the app's internal update mechanism is broken, we can update manually, here is the most recent currency database file :
https://www4.bcb.gov.br/Download/fechamento/20180927.csv
Thank you again for your help!
Here's how to update manually:
1. Download the newest .csv file from: https://ptax.bcb.gov.br/ptax_internet/consultarTodasAsMoedas.do?method=consultaTodasMoedas
2. Delete the old .csv file and copy the new .csv file in:
Android/data/com.sony.smallapp.currency/files/
3. Disable WiFi, then launch Currency Converter app. It'll detect and use the newest .csv
4. Done!
