Before advising me to move into the 21st century, please let me explain what I'm trying to do and why.
I've set up my Asterisk PBX to use a mobile phone as a GSM gateway using Bluetooth. Asterisk is a bit picky about which mobiles will actually work but by trial and error I've found that a borrowed SE C510 works a treat. So having 'invested' in a junk C510 from eBay I find that there is no audio in this configuration so I'm hoping to update its firmware to the same level as the working one, viz. R1FA034.
I've tried SEUS and PC Companion but both fail, trying to update to the latest version. I cannot run Xperia Companion as I gave up with Windows after Vista.
So finally to my questions:
1. Is there a version of SEUS or PC Companion which still works and supports the C510?
2. Is there 3rd-party software which will load the firmware and is R1FA034 available for download anywhere?
Google hasn't been my friend so far.
Thanks.

I'm planning to buy a qtek s200.
Did anyone tryed to upgrade the rom using vista - i've read that active sync won't work with Vista.
In my opinion "Vista" do not require Activesync as it has some builtin system.

it does not work, use the shearch funtion in the forum, there is allredy several threads asking the same thing.
Only on Vista 32 bit imho...
The upgrade software does not work correctly with any version of Vista, so if you want to brick your device try it
Vista has a new Mobile Device Center that replaces activesync. Don't try to upgarde with Vista. I maintain an old notebook as spare running XP just for flashing purposes. Or install XP on a different partition and flash from there.
Hey guys,
Usually I used to have internet on my Magician via USB using Windows Mobile Device Center or just WMDC (aka ActiveSnyc for XP users) and it always worked like a charm.
After updating to the newest version of Cotulla's 6.1 ROM (great job man ;D) and using searcher12's fixes (very nice aswell ) I can't seem to have internet over USB using WMDC anymore =\ I always though the configuration was pretty much automatic (just have to set it up on WMDC).
Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance,
K.
im using windows 7 and 6.03 and mine is working fine, maybe just upgrade, 6.01 is outdated
Having the same problem, It used to work but not anymore
I use it to update teamstats but now I don't know what happened
please if there is any solution tell us
Hi I just found the problem and it's working again for me
1- go to WMDC ---> mobile device setting ---> then connection setting
another window will popup go to [this computer is connected to]
and choose [ Internet] instead of [Automatic]
that's what I did and It's working now
hope it helps you
Hello,
I am aware, that this problem is known, but I did not find a solution for the Tipo. So I decided to start this question thread.
I am facing the known android problem with the AdHoc connection. The Tipo I am using is rooted and has the stock 4.0.4 rom.
The forum provides some solutions for other devices, but I did not find one for the Tipo.
I tried the methods HEXcube, kurotsugi and Maxxd01 are suggesting, but they did not work for me. If I got it right, the wpa_supplicant file has to be adapted to the specific device.
So here is my question: Is there a fixed wpa_supplicant file for the Tipo?
Or what has to be adapted in the file to make it work?
What is interesting: If I use the "WiFi Manager" and the "Smart WiFi Scanner" app, the AdHoc network is recognized by the Tipo, but I can not connect to it.
The connection to the device I want to communicate with, works with the iPhone and my laptop.
Thanks in advance for any help!
What are you trying to do? Stream files via wifi adhoc? The only wifi that works with tipo are wifi ap (share tipo internet connection to others) wifi to router and wifi file transfer.
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:
Cant get past installing flash drivers in xp.
First of all, thanks for the quick reply.
Right, maybe I did not point out well what I want to do.
The goal is to connect the Tipo to an AdHoc network provided by a wifi device on a microcontroller board and to transfer some data. This device is only able to provide an AdHoc network.
The standard android 4.0.4 cannot connect to AdHoc networks. So what I want to do is to modify android so it can access them. This should work with a modified wpa_supplicant file made for the Tipo. Now I am looking for such a file or a well described method to change the standard wpa_supplicant, since I am not that experienced with the Linux programming.
this problem happened with me on my Miro, stock and rooted.
i tried finding answers on web but could not. then i think i restored everything and noticed that the problem had gone.
maybe you should try that!
I tried it and it did not work for me. But AdHoc did not work from the beginning, wenn the Tipo was already stock.
Thanks anyway!
Does the device kinda transmit wifi signal? Like some kind of wireless ap? If thats the device, I know it worked on tipo. If its Adhoc file transfer via wifi, it seems android cant recognize it (detects ap, wants access internet, but no access to wlan network - using xplore).
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:

Yes, the WiFi device sets up an AdHoc network (no wireless access point, no internet connection) and I want to connect the Tipo to it and receive data.
I do not want to connect the Tipo to the internet through this WiFi device.
As you said, Android does not recognize AdHoc networks in its own wlan network list. But with the apps "Smart WiFi Scanner" and "WiFi Manager" they are visible on the Tipo.
Although Android seems to detect AdHoc networks in principle (with the help of the apps), it cannot connect to them. And that seems to be "a general" problem with Android (at least 4.0.x).
Now I would like to modify Android so it can connect to AdHoc networks. That should work by adapting the file wpa_supplicant (in /system/bin in the root directory) to the Tipo configuration.
I will add the threads I mentioned in the first post (I hope the quoting is right):

Hey you're right about the wpa_suplicant file..but the thing is even i could not find that file nywhr.
Btw r u tryn to share ur internet frm a Windows pc? If yes, u shud try a program called 'connectify'.
I have been through this prob,i dunno what happened later but it got away somehow.
Good luck!

Hes not talking about internet connect, its wifi adhoc so he can send files just like netbook adhoc wifi file sharing. It just that the phone cant seem to know LAN file mode, I think android only wanted internet on wifi. Maybe using some ftp client via Lan wifi adhoc?
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:
Cant get past installing flash drivers in xp.
I also tried HEXcube method but it doesn't work for my Xperia Tipo?
Any idea?

I have the Windows 10 Pro N edition that I recently upgraded to from Windows 8.1. Ever since then my computer will not properly get the drivers it needs for my android. In device manager it only shows it as MTP and when i try to point it to the correct Z5 driver I downloaded from Sony's website it immediately tells me it failed. I assumed the fix would be to download the Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N versions but I have done that at least 4 times now and still refuses to be recognized properly. The most annoying part is my Windows 7 laptop recognizes it perfectly... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm a Z1 user about to buy a Z5. Today I've built a new PC & when i went to install PC Companion from the Z1 or download it says I need to update it before using & then crashes. I've since worked out that Sony has released Xperia Companion but that doesn't appear to have all the features that PC Companion had, especially contacts / calendar sync. No sync, whats the use.
Someone help a bloke out URGENTLY.

Sorry, i didn't make my point properly. Sony have removed the back end support for PC Companion so when the old version goes to ping the server & grab the updates that server no longer exists & thats why the whole thing keels over. Sony has screwed us. And I cannot find a newer version than 2.10.259 anywhere online. Stuffed if i can even work out what the latest version was, before Sony took it all down & brought out Xperia Companion, which is really only a software updater / backup client.
why dont you use your email account to backup calendar and contacts?

Like @spaha-bih says, use your Google email account.
To elaborate: Sync your Z1 email account with G-Drive, when setting up your new Z5 say yes to transfer data from old device and follow instructions.
It doesnt solve your issue with PC Companion vs Xperia Companion but at least all your data is transfered.
