[App][4.1+]Rickroll: Rickroll Your Friends! - Android Apps and Games

Borrowed yours friends device? Want to pull a prank? Rickroll your friends!
This app plays the song Never Gonna Give You U by Rick Astley at a random moment of the day at 100% volume. Even when the phone is in standby mode! This could be in the middle of the night or in the middle of the day.
In addition, when you install the app, the app is called 'Photos' with a gallery icon. When the user opens the app it plays the videoclip.
Some ideas for the future
- Find bluetooth speakers/headphones nearby, connect and stream the song nearby.
- Settings where you can change the interval
- A webpage/app where friends can toggle the song on their friends phone.
Let me know if you have any feedback!
The app can be downloaded in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.bravobit.rickroll

Fun idea, might try this on my wife. Is an internet connection always needed? How much bandwidth does the full song take if it fully plays is it cashed after the first stream is compete?
Keep up the good work

Thanks! The song comes with the app so no internet connection is required. Only when you launch the app it requires internet because it embeds a Youtube Player.

Yes You Can Stream Live Internet Radio

So this is now my 2nd official post (1st was apps2sd for newbies) and i know many people have been trying to stream live internet radio stations (.pls,.aac,.aac+,.asf,.asx & .m3u files) on the Android OS.
As of now there really isnt a way to play all of those files but yes you can stream them.My last phone was the T-Mobile Wing an i was accustomed to streaming tuned.mobi on my TCPMP and so i was determined to find a way of getting me local radio stations back because i can't live without my sports radio WFAN 66 (NY station).Heres the instructions of getting this to work:
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download StreamFurious from the android market (Theres a free and paid version,i use the free version)
2. Go to tuned.mobi from your phone browser and from there just choose your country you will find your EVERY local radio stations to stream.
3. To stream the station you want just click on the stream bit for the station
example: 64kb,128kb (will be highlighted in blue)
WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT PLAY:
You can ONLY stream stations with MP3 (.PLS,.M3U & .AAC) or OggVorbis links
You CANNOT stream any links that says AAC+ or WMP next to them (Windows Media Player formats is not support on Android through streams as of yet. (.asf or.asx etc..))
That's it folks.Good Luck...Now all i need is my Slingplayer for Android OS and i have everything i had on my Wing and more
If anyone has a way of getting WMP formats to stream live radio please let me know because of all my favorite radio station there's 2 that i can't have on the go due to this issue. (Hot97 & Z100 NY stations)
Hey good looking bro. I was wondering if this was possible. I know Tunewiki says you can get local radio but that app leaves much to be desired. Im gonna try this and see what happens.
My friend just turned me on to StreamFurious I love it. Thank for letting posting about tune.mobi i will have to check it out
Dude you are a awesome. I was able to find the two local stations I listen to and streamfurious loaded them just fine. I was already using streamfurious before this and loved it and now it's perfect. So my friends with FM tuners in their cell phones can go to hell...lol
I love StreamFurious. Your post actually prompted me to make this Way, Way Too May Reboots thread because when I run SF my phone loves to reboot.
Does anyone else's do the same? If so and idea why and how to fix?
I like friskyradio.com in SF for electronic music.
I dont know how i could have ever overlooked an app like this. I been wondering for the longest if something like this was eveb available. Much thx to the op.
Quick question tho, anyone know where i can find a site or something that can stream Howard 100. I ask because i noticed that within the app you can select Howard 101 but they usually dont broadcast the re-runs etc of the show on the channel. I been out of the loop with the show for a while. Would like to take advantage of this app thx again
Thanks for the heads up on the tuned.mobi service. I have been using SF for a while already but some local channels don't have mp3 streams available (many CBSRadio stations) and this let me tune into them with SF.
BTW, maybe this thread belongs in the apps subforum?
I got windows media streams on my G1 by using the AndrOrb app and setting up the stream as a custom radio station on the orb website.
dunno if thats any good to you.
Streamfurious is the best one I've seen for Android.
The other two I have found are FlyCast and AntPlayer. FlyCast has the benefit of showing album covers. It rotates between album cover, song info and ads. It's a little annoying, but it's easier to see what is playing than the tiny text on Streamfurious.
I just found AntPlayer today. It has a very nice search feature. You don't need to know the URL.

That sounds interesting,i will try that because 2 of my fav stations are WMP formats.Thank you.
Streanfurious is good but OR Player is better
Awesome app. Thanks for the heads up!

[Q] Android can't multitask when streaming a radio feed? Seriously?

I want to listen to streaming air traffic control from Listen to Live ATC (Air Traffic Control) Communications | LiveATC.net but when I play a stream I can either play in vPlayer or Streaming Player, but both apps turn off the audio when I do anything else... kinda defeats the purpose if I can't stream in the background...
Why would Android package in "Streaming Audio" app if it doesn't multi-task? Do people really just stare at a black screen that says "Live" for hours without being able to do other things?!?!?
Anyone have any suggestions for me?
Stream media player works fine in the background:
I am not allowed to insert links, but search for it in market.

This is for video from local sources... not applicable to my need for background streaming audio :-(

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
I just played around with this app and it works PERFECTLY.
Lets me stream in the background. I have asked this question no less than 10 times in 10 forums, and nobody has had an answer. Thank You!!!!!
The only thing I can't figure out now is how to turn it OFF, hehe.
Then it was good I came along and saw your post.
I am only glad I could help you since I was in the same kinda desperate situation lately. I could listen to streaming audio with the built in media players and other from the market, but they all went to sleep when I backgrounded them. Pretty useless, as you have discovered!

Yeah, I agree, so strange they'd make a "Streaming Media" app when there's no way to stream without staring at a black screen. In several other threads people told me it wasn't possible in Android, but I assumed better so kept pushing, thanks again for saving my day

Audiogalaxy

This app is the best thing since sliced bread IMO. Instead of having to worry about having enough room on your microSD for all your music you can simply stream it directly to your device or through any computer (at work!). The app is pretty good too with shuffling, queueing (which I WISH the stock music player had!!!), repeating, playlists, etc. Check it out guys! It's all free and no ads!
Just installed it.... pretty damn sweet, does just what it says. I wouldn't think it would eat up the battery any more than using Pandora.
How is audiogalaxy and its impact on data? I don't use Pandora much unless I'm on wifi (work or home), 2GB data plan from the Death Star. not worried about battery, just the data.
Pretty sweet app. Thanks for the heads up.
can you choose a song? or does it just shuffle your library?

You choose what you wish to play!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I found that Subsonic works better for me. Not to trash your thread or anything. Audiogalaxy is good, too. Due to security at my work I can't use Audiogalaxy because streaming music is blocked. Subsonic uses a url that I assigned, so work doesn't see it and it is not blocked.

[APP] TubeCast - Youtube to Chromecast Audio

Hello everyone,
As you all know youtube app on android and ios does not support Chromecast audio, so I've developed a new android app that let users cast youtube to Chromecast Audio. It finds only audio track, so you do not need to worry about network traffic, as the audio track size is usually much smaller than the video size. My intension is to support more websites, currently it works best for youtube.
Key features:
- Detect music audio tracks from the websites you visit and cast to Chromecast
- Support queue, so you can add many items once and let Chromecast do the rest
- Support repeat playback, repeat all/one/none/shuffle
- Support playback and volume controls
- Built-in browser with multi-tabs
- If websites contain both video and audio, this app will select only audio track, so you do not need to worry about network traffic, as the audio track size is usually much smaller than the video size, which is very efficient for Chromecast Audio.
The app works pretty the same way as Google Youtube App, you click on a video, it shows a dialog and let you choose to play or add video to queue, and it also allows you to move the queue items up and down, and play the queue on repeat (repeat none, all, one or shuffle).
It can also with normal Chromecast video, of course, but you only see thumbnail on the tv screen, and the music, not the video, as I already mentioned - only audio.
Here's the video demo on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEGkoC6LPp0
And the app on PlayStore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sibimobilelab.castwebaudio
Great job!
What I miss:
-Add some way to store playlists
-Add whole playlist from YouTube (This could be too traffic intense and lead to banning the app that is already in gray area...)

Hi,
The idea is to create playlists with your youtube account and I will implement the feature to add the whole playlist to the queue. I will try to do so in upcoming releases.
I know it's risky to do things with youtube, but how do you know it's in gray area?

If you are asking yourself: "Is this legal?", then it is in the gray area.
You are providing easy way to get content without paying (YouTube red or ads).
-the playlist feature will be better if it works with playlists in general not just ones from your account.
-storage is local.
Because:
1.spares all the queries you have to make for each song in playlist every time you open it(there are playlists with hundreds of songs).
2.privacy concerns
Well, I think gg should provide youtube support for Chromecast Audio for free, just like they do with normal Chromecast, since they do not send ads to stream in normal Chromecast as well.
This app allows users to cast to chromecast audio only, not anywhere else, and not play locally or download videos/audios which I think will make it more "legal". So just let's wait and see
About storing the playlists, since I'm not using youtube API, and youtube is the only one of many websites this app supports, the video/audio links that I can get live only for a short time (approx. 1 day) then they will get expired, so storing playlists is not an option for me unfortunately. The official youtube app also does not store playlists locally.
Then make sure to not throw hundreds of requests at once when parsing the playlist.
And one small thing: the "playing" icon (the three animated bars) is annoying (at least for me). You have made plain simple UI keep it that way and just put the simple triangle thing without animation ( ▶ ). It's an Unicode symbol. (one less image to take care of).

This is GREAT! I purchased Chromecast audio only to find out I can't cast from Youtube app. Such a stupid move from Google
Perfect
@SibiMobile
1. is there a way you implement playing playlists from Youtube?
2. is there a way we can donate to you, as you're a life saver bro!

Hi,
Thank you for your offer, unfortunately this app development is suspended and I've removed it from playstore. Now I'm working on an replacement - Amaze Browser, it can also cast youtube to chromecast audio, however the queue function is not yet added, I do plan to add it in future releases.

Great! I installed it and it works. Only thing I'm missing is playing Youtube playlists. That the app would automatically play YT playlist videos in a row... other than that, big up!!

It would be a heavy request to google server and I avoid doing this to protect the app in play store . In fact I removed most of the things with YouTube - download, background playing, only leave the Chromecast feature.
Pls keep in mind that the queue feature is not yet added in Amaze Browser, continue to use Tubo cast if you need this feature.

Tubo Cast was a great app so far!!! It would be great if you publish a hacked version out of the Play Store... I'd be glad to donate to you! Youtube playlist support is a must in my opinion... it'd be a killer feature for sure!
Maybe you could publish it on the Play Store "as is", and let we download an unofficial plugin that enables that feature!
Probably I'm only dreaming...

Hi, I cannot promise the playlist feature, what I have right now is a new version of tubo cast with the fix for the disconnection issue, I can upload it here.
Do you encounter the disconnection issue by the way?

Mh... I'm a new Chromecast Audio user, since I bought it last week, anyway, I tried several way to cast youtube contents to that thing... and your app (I found it somewhere around the web after reading this post) is the best solution because it doesn't need a constant stream between phone and chromecast. It'd be absolutely perfect with playlist support... and I mean perfect indeed!
I didn't have disconnection issue till now... I'm having more issues with apps like Deezer, just to say, because it randomly disconnects, starting to play the sound from my phone's speaker...
By the way "I can't promise" means "no" or "maybe"!

Means " no" for now
If you encounter the disconnection issue, follow the workaround mentioned in the home page to solve it
Again we published it to playstore, and also added premium verion.
Change log:
- Upgraded browser, added startpage, bookmark, history, search suggestion
- Use wifi wakelock to prevent disconnection issue
- Upgraded to more stable version of Google Cast API
- Added premium version
1.What is premium? Just supporting your efforts or something else? One can't really understand from changelog/app.
2.Is there a typo in the name? I see now TubCast instead of the previous TubeCast.
3.What is the difference to the other browser app that you are developing.
4.Is there a list of supported sites?
5.Any chance that vbox7.com can get into the list of point 4?
6.Youtube playlist support is not on the table anymore?
Thanks for update.

regarding your question:
1/ Yes premium is to add a little support for the development
2/ Tubecast is the name in playstore, in the app I made a tupo name Tubcast which is funny
3/ It supports queue, the other browser does not yet support queue, this one focuses on chromecast audio and shows popup dialog directly when it finds audio links, this app is also more lightweight and removed part of the UI in compare to another browser,
and the UI is more close to the youtube app
4/ It supports most of the sites except flash websites
5/ Will need to check with vbox7.com
6/ You still need to add songs one by one, adding the whole youtube playlist is not possible

Question Galaxy Watch 4 and Music

Hey folks,
I have a Watch 4 with stand-alone LTE cell/data capability. I'm pretty disappointed that the options for music are pretty limited, but it is a watch after all. I'm a big fan of a couple of internet radio stations, however I can't get the Tune In app to install. As a workaround, I have bookmarked these individual stations and listen to their web players. However, they stop playing when my watch screen goes dark. I don't know a lot about the inner workings of my smart watch, but the battery life isn't the greatest. Short of turning the always on display on, do any of have other suggestions? I'm training for a marathon and only carry my watch with headphones and avoid carrying the phone as well, hence the purchase of the LTE cell version.
I had this same issue with my phone and installed a plug-in to allow playing audio after the screen turns off. I'll have to do some digging to find the name of it, but my point is that it should be possible to do on the watch. I just can't remember what it was called.
To be more specific, the solution I used was a web browser (Chromium) plug-in to play audio from YouTube podcasts, but it works with any audio from the web browser. You could probably find it just as fast as I can. I just can't remember which plug-in worked.

Taco-Thank you so much for your feedback. I'll do a search for Chrome plug in to play audio. Did you have to sideload Chrome with Easy Fire Tools? Do I need to be thinking along those lines as well or was this something downloaded from Play store?
