Ok so I ran across this yesterday and noticed no one has posted on it so I thought I would let you guys know.
On the play store there is an app that will let you freely install the cm versions of a bunch of apps provided you have access to root.
To make this work on the moto x you have to have pwnmymoto installed and working on your device, also you must be booted
into recovery mode so that you can make the changes to the system/app/ folder actually stick.
The way the app works is it downloads the .apk to your device and then it installs it separately in two different commands.
The installation is kind of finicky i had to hit the install .apk button twice before it would actually install. Give it a try your results may differ.

APP Info Pulled from Play Store
** Please read this before you install! **
There are a lot of ROM's out there, some CyanogenMod-based and some not. The CyanogenMod team go much further than ROM functions, they develop apps with increased functionality over stock or older versions.
This application is designed to install these CyanogenMod apps as system apps, regardless of your ROM. Please note this is a root-only app!
The process is designed to be as simple as possible; select your app, hit download, hit install, and reboot your device when you're done. The system will refresh them upon reboot, and the app should be installed
Currently supported:
- Apollo music player
- CM Messaging
- CM Torch
- CM File Manager
- DSP Manager
- CM Calculator
- Voice +

**I take no responsibility for the creation of this app, it is just something I came across when looking
for thing to do to my device if you have any complaints or issues regarding the app itself please contact the creator through the play store
please don't take your frustrations out on me. Thanks**
Good find. It works.

I'm having all kinds of issues with any equalizer, they work for a period of time and stop completely, AFAIK DSP equalizer has issues with jb 4.2, I was using awesome beats, which is a modified version of DSP and after 4 o4 5 songs it stopped working. So I bit the bullet and purchased player pro, it by passes stock sound configurations .

I've got DSP kind of working...Each time i start a song I have to re-open the app, or if i go to it under the equalizer settings in GPM. Ive only been using GPM and i know that DSP has some weird issues with streaming, but DSP is working, its just annoying that I have to "re-enable" it after each song. I dont have any music on my storage, so i havent tried with any other app, maybe its just the streaming...

Okay I guess you could say it kind of works. It sounds nothing like the real DSP manager though, hopefully he'll fix this soon.

Has anyone gotten Voice+ to work? I cannot. Whenever I try manually launching the .APK it says "There was a problem parsing the package." Torch works, though the frequency of the strobe function is completely erratic. Messaging would force close every time I opened it so I downloaded the one from the thread stated earlier. Haven't tried any of the others though.

My understanding of voice plus requires dependent files that are built into cm. I could definitely be wrong however I suspect that I'm not.

Some options works, some don't.
That's because of EMUI.
Resizing of the buttons bar works.
Custom action for buttons works.

Hi. I want to buy a Le Max 2, and I wonder what it could be installed on this phone? Now I have one Galaxy Note 4, and i have a plenty of apps installed (ex. Nova Launcher, AppLock, Bluetalk, Xposed, Repeating Notification, Battery Doctor, Profile Scheduler, Advanced Task Killer, Lock Screen, Android Assistant, Hibernation Manager, Greenefy, Flat Style Bar Indicators, Aqua Mail). Some on this apps is almost a "must have" for me, perhaps others will be not so important on the Max 2. What apps do you have?
Since there is a working root method,i don't see why you will have any problem installing any of these apps.

Jeah... All of those nonroot apps should work normally. With xposed I would wait a little. It seems to Work, But not that stable.

I run a ported HTC Sense Launcher on mine... works great!!! Definitely has root method, so at some point, almost everything will work. I tend to stay stock as I get rid of phones quickly and just install what works on non-rooted. To note, I have Google Play Store and all google apps installed, received OTA and still works 100%... don't know how as other have their Play Store break after update.... I guess I'm just lucky :fingers-crossed:
where do you have the HTC Sense Launcher?
Nova Launcher working great on mine !!!
Nova Launcher along with Zooper widgets works great on the device!
Xposed works flawlessly on moKee 6.0.1 V1! Infinite amount of tweaks and possibilities

Hi,
I've been with this phone for 3 days and in general I'm quite happy. However, I find the sound somewhat low and flat so I am looking for some mod and/or music app that improve it.
Viper4Android 1.7 is the only Magisk module that I've been able to operate, but its performance is much milder than in other phones. I've also tried Neutron Player. He takes a good deal of the USB potential but the interface is too shabby...
How do you take advantage of our Essential audio?
PD.: By the way, I'm on stock Oreo 8.1 last compilation.
Thanks audiophiles

I came from the Nexus 5, which had a bad sound card and needed something to help. I used V4A on it, at first I was impressed, but then noticed that it seemed to put a veil over the sound.
I think Essential sound is decent. Instead of modifying the sound internally, I use my Dragonfly Black (a DAC), and am happy with the sound. Since I have to use a dongle to connect headphones, I figure I might as well connect a dongle to the DAC. Essential is supposed to come out with their own DAC, it may be worth waiting for if you don't already have a DAC that you can hook up to the phone. Otherwise there are some good DAC's out there. You'll need a different dongle to make it work, usb-c to usb-a female, or however a 3rd party DAC connects.
Viper4android has been the only one that has worked for me but make sure you disable MusicFX in the system apps or you'll get conflicting audio processing.
But I just switched to this version of V4A and it's much better sounding than the Magisk module in the repo. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-viper4android-fx-2-6-0-0-t3774651
Download the APK install it as a normal app. Launch the app and let it install the driver. It'll install a Magisk Module during this process. Reboot, then install the Audio Mod Library module from the Magisk repo. Reboot again. Make sure MusicFX is disable and adjust V4A to your liking. Should be a better experience

Disable MusicFX by going to Android Settings, Applications, All apps. Then the 3 dots in the top right corner and show system apps. Scroll to MusicFX, tap it, then choose disable.

Thank you for you work!
Is Gcam 100% functionnal?
Will this work on the Canadian variant A530W?
Edit1: Successfully flashed and booted on A530W, still testing all the features.
Edit2: The Digital wellbeing app crashed when I try to toggle the Wind down feature.
When in any app and I try to bring up the recent apps I get a message "Pixel Launcher keeps stopping" but when i'm on the homescreen it works fine.
How waa the rom ?
GCam should be working as far as Ik.
The ROM should be compatible with any variant of the exynos Galaxy A8 (2018) devices.
As for Digital Wellbeing, it is likely some libs or framework is missing, so just use it for screen on time analysis and not for grayscale
And the Pixel Launcher bug, I'm not sure why its happening. Perhaps try wiping data and clearing cache. I'll look into it, while also I have to update the ROM since I forgot to add the dual speaker module to the device, which I normally do for all my ROMs. If you could post performance ratings, that would be nice!
Any chance this would work on a8 plus?

Any chance a8 plus support?
I tried this on my A8, and so far Gcam isn't working, the Samsung camera app doesn't have that 4k option, and actually it has less options for resolution and the switch between the 2 front cameras are missing (I might just restore the original camera-feature.xml).
There are a few other stuff, but they are minor things.

There was a never a button. You swipe up to switch cams
And don't restore stock Camera floating feature. It will break because of Bixby Vision configurations and other stuff that I removed

I didn't mean the button to switch between the front and rear cameras, also that's there, it exists but the swipe up thing works as well. What I meant is the switch to switch between the two front cameras of the phone. It did have that switch.
Hi,
I noticed that whenever I try to make a phone call it dials and connects just fine, however, the dialer interface where you can cancel the call or turn on the loudspeaker doesnt show at all. As if there was no call being made.
Never mind. ... This is what happens if you havent set googke dialer as default dialer app. . My bad....
Gcam isn't working (i can't even open it) and Pixel Launcher can't open recent app menu without crashing (except in homescreen)
