S7e Battery in S6 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running the S7 edge Nemesis rom in my S6 and love it but I've also been trying to get an S7 edge battery to do the conversion. I've bought supposedly genuine 3600 mah batteries from Replacebase and also a German company called VHBM but both are no thicker than the standard s6 one and capacity around 2200 mah according to Accubattery. The screen on time remains around 2 to 3 hours and time between charges about 16 hours at best.
Anyone know where I can get a genuine or good quality aftermarket S7 edge battery rather than these fakes? I'm based in UK. Thanks.

Sorry just noticed the sticky saying no posting of questions in the general section. Can a mod please move to the troubleshooting section please? Thanks.

i think a guy did this project once and realized that there was a chip in the battery that regulated the power it gave the device. IIRC try searching it. So basically the s7e battery didnt extend much life.

Thanks. I've found no improvement in battery life on the batteries I have tested. I've I stalled the kiboi rom with s7e battery support as well so was assuming the batteries were fakes but maybe there's more to it.

The way I see it is the physical size of the battery is a good indication of capacity. Ie there is no way that another li ion battery that is smaller than samsung's original battery is going to be over 1000mah higher capacity. On this basis I used a vernier caliper to measure exact dimensions of the following batteries to obtain the cubic volume and then estimate the maximum capacity.
So as a benchmark the standard Samsung S6 battery rated at 2550 mah measures 95.7 x 44.3 x 3.8mm giving total volume of 16110 mm3. If you say 16110mm3 gives 2550mah then each mm3 provides about 0.158mah.
I then did the same for the following batteries to see what the estimated maximum capacity was:
Replacebase S6 battery claiming 2550mah was 95.9 x 39.4 x 4.0mm so quite a bit narrower and a fraction thicker than the Samsung battery it claims to replace. This works out at 15110 mm3 so slightly less volume. Capacity estimate = 2392 mah.
Replacebase S7 edge claiming 3600mah was 95.3 x 40.3 x 4mm = 15362 mm3 and capacity estimate of 2431 mah which is LESS than a standard S6 battery!
VHBW S7 edge claiming 3600 mah was 96.2 x 41.2 x 4.4mm = 16714 mm3 and a capacity estimate of 2645 mah so the best so far but still way below the claimed 3600 mah.
This is quite disheartening as it means all of these companies are palming off sub capacity batteries claiming to be 3600mah. I love the S6 but battery on the standard battery sucks. If I can get a get a genuine S7 edge battery it would make a world of difference but where to get a genuine one? My search continues!

Just ordered a patona s7 edge battery claiming 3600 mah. The advert supplies dimensions of the battery at 96 x 43 x 5 mm which if correct gives 20640mm3 and works out at about 3267 mah. We shall see when it arrives.

Stop the press I may have been too quick to criticise the aftermarket batteries. I have been using the VHBW battery for a couple of weeks and tried fully charging and discharging, recalibration battery etc but still showing about 2300 mah capacity and rubbish life. However, just flashed the kobio kernel and fully charged and discharged. It's now showing 3300 mah capacity on Acu Battery. I'm not sure if this is just because the kernel is telling the phone to expect a much higher capacity or whether the phone is now charging beyond the 2550 mah because the upper limit has been raised. I'll report back on battery life once I've had a chance to fully test it.

Showing about 3500 mah on accubattery at the moment on my current VHBW battery and getting good life except when Google play services smashes it like today at 10% per hour. For info this battery fits very good with only very very slight raise to the case even with NFC and wireless retained.

Having used this VHBW battery for a few weeks now on different rom and kernel combinations I can say it's pretty good. Accubattery shows it charging to between 3300 and 3600 every full cycle. I'm using odexlite ROM with kiboi Devine kernel and getting 20+ hours combined with over 4 hours SOT, calls and with Wi-Fi and bluetooth on. Battery life has gone from rubbish to excellent. I highly recommend this battery and Rom/kernel combination. I was about to swap back to my old iPhone as I was so fed up with rubbish battery life but now it's fantastic.
For info this VHBW battery causes the back glass to fit about half a mm high on one side. It's barely noticeable but I kept catching my finger on it. I then removed the NFC and wireless charging pad which i never use anyway and the back glass now fits perfectly flush.
I would avoid the patona battery as it's over 5mm thick and I'm sure it is an excellent battery but it will not fit the S6 as the glass sits way too far from the frame. Unless you're happy to run without rear glass it is best avoided.
As an end note please be careful if you're messing with batteries as they are volatile if damaged. I also do not know that it is totally safe to put a larger battery into the S6 as apparently they can expand by up to 10 percent when charging so you do so at your own risk. That said lots have done the conversion and I'm not aware of any safety problems.
Good luck- it's a superb modification

This seems like a really cool modification to me. As I want also want to keep NFC: Would you think it is better to use the VHBW battery or try to go with an original S7 Edge battery (and there are two types of them: ATL and Samsung SDI)? From battery performance perspective, this VHBW seems pretty good but as I understood the original one from Replacebase is not so thick and thus fits better (but does it perform the same?)...however, I think it will be difficult to get real original ones (don't know if Samsung is even producing new ones or they stopped production already and used ones will be lower anyway).

I'd go with VHBW as still fits fine with NFC retained and gives a nice increase in battery life.
Good luck.

Can you tell me how you calibrate the battery, point to point, did you discharge to 0%- when phone shutdown and charge when phone is off?? or something different method? because my i discharge from 100%-to 1% and charge when phone is one and i have something 2880-2980mAh

Discharge till the phone shuts down on its own. The % is a rough guestimate. The logged voltage curves from the worn out 2500mah cell cause the device to believe that the battery can't sustain much current at the base voltage. So it reads 1% when there is still a good 20% left before the cell can't provide enough current at the minumum required voltage. First full discharge can sit at 1% for several hours.

Thx, now im calibrating with Lukas0610 Method 2. From this site https://duckyb.github.io/BatteryMod/calibration.html i will do it 2-4 times and post here the results.

Im finished calibrate my battery with Lukas0610 method 2 and after this i install martitos kernel with full support for s7 edge battery and here what i get

Hi. Do you mind to share how you manage to get that SOT
Step by step. I'm currently on aosp Android pie rom.
I already change to s7e battery, but same sot
Do I need to change supported kernel. Or Lucas0619 method alone is okay?
I tried input terminal as instructed, but no changes in battery reading.

Uuu you need kernel that support s7e battery there is aldexus kernel for 8.0 and 8.1 aosp roms but not for 9 pie rom
You can also try 4 method form link i provided above
Im remember that last thing i was doing with calibration was full charge from low state 5% (something like that) and unplug charger then when 100 drop to 99-98 pluged again and full charge, i repeat this 3 times and thats it

So the kernel is compulsory... I see. Will try Android 8.1 and the aldexus kernel. Thanks
Have you tried the rom together with kernel and s7e battery?

Galaxy S4 Anker 2600mAh Review on Tmobile S4

First and foremost I just have to say that I have been sent these batteries to test as I have been testing batteries for Anker for over 2 years. This battery has to be the best one so far. The Anker 2600mAh for the S4 has incredible battery life and lasts about 50% longer than that of the OEM Samsung battery. The charging time is the same as OEM too! When you receive the battery i suggest you complete the charge because it isn't completely charged from the factory. Great points about this better battery are:
-Actually has built in NFC for a slim replacement battery
-Battery life is just straight up longer than OEM
-I use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google Maps, Skyfire, Text, and Talk on the phone literally all day long as my job permits
-Battery is the same size as the stock so no worries about the phone "bulking up"
-Dependable company for aftermarket batteries
-Brightness about half way up
Through many rigorous tests, compared to an OEM battery, this battery has lasted me about 50% longer than the standard Samsung battery. Now many of you that have the S4 already know that the S4 battery is pretty good considering the power of the phone. With the factory battery i have been able to have the phone last 20h 22m 14s. The longest this battery lasted me was 33h 07m 10s. On the heaviest day i used the phone though it was 29h 46m 58s. So that is why i am going to say at least 50% longer. The battery cells have always been quality cells provided by Anker and hold the charge over a long period of time. I am very pleased with the battery and am confident in this product as well as there 2100mAh replacement for the S4, which i will be writing about as well. For the price point and functionality of this product it would be nonsense not to make this purchase and have the battery life you need from your new powerhouse phone!
I would also like to just give a big THANK YOU to Anker for their awesome products and keep up the good work!
the stock battery is rated at 2600mah. getting 50% more battery life from another battery also rated at 2600mah seems unlikely. either something is wrong with the stock battery or anker are magicians.
That's what i thought at first but the cells are incredible in the anker. That's the first thing i buy for any phone i own(considering it has a removable battery) are spare batteries because i eat up batteries all day long. lol

Why would they release a battery with a smaller maH rating than the OEM Samsung battery?
This whole thread is weird and is suspect.
I doubt Samsung would use sub par cells considering they are one of the largest manufacturers of top tier lithium cells. Something isn't adding up when a battery of the same capacity is claiming to get 50% more life.
I have the same battery, although I haven't really put it to the test beyond seeing that it would actually charge to 100% so I can't speak as to how much longer than the stock battery it goes.
It is slightly bigger than the original battery, though. You really have to press all the sides of the back door in at the same time to get the back to go on.
50% more is really suspect... it has the same mah rating so I figure the most would be a +10% (for increased quality). In any rate, you are getting equivalent or more than stock, which makes it a good alternative.

Every replacement Anker battery I have purchased, (Vibrant, MT4G, Sensation, GS2, GS3) has lasted longer than the stock battery. Maybe not 50% longer, but noticeably longer. An Anker is destined for my SIV as well.
I have two of these batteries on the charger at home right now getting their first charge. I'll weigh in on this tomorrow after testing

On german Amazon homepage we can read, that Anker batteries have nearly the same battery life.
So 50% more? I can not believe you at the moment.
I have a set of these fresh from Anker, my only complaint is that they battery width is about .5mm thicker than the stock battery, its not enough to prevent the battery door from closing, but it was enough to notice a "bulge" pressing on the back cover to see it the upper and lower of the battery corners. Ill keep them for spares, but im sticking with stock for the day to day use.
Also note, that battery life was the same if not slightly less than with stock.
50% more power on same mAh is hard to believe.

You need to compare the batteries under the same conditions. What if for one battery you streamed music for hours and for the other battery you let it sit and do nothing? You need to run the test under the same conditions. Without that the comparison is meaningless.
Since you may not be able to let your phone sit untouched for that long, you could find an app that'll drain the battery the same way over a shorter period of time (e.g. leave it streaming music or running navigation). You may think that's a bunch of trouble to go through, but if you are a "battery tester" for Anker, then it should be standard procedure.
Excellent points everyone. I'll reevaluate the batteries over the next couple days. I did do a lot with the phone the first couple days like root debloat etc

That does not prove anything. Your device has been idle most of the time. I call it BS on the 50% more juice. It has to take some breakthrough technology to get that much juice with the same size battery. So nice try.

DIY extended slim battery!

So, it annoyed me the Galaxy S III battery was 2100 mah vice our 1800, but physically smaller (albeit a hair thicker)

Here's how it looks in the Relay:
Notice the space at the bottom. The pins also do not quite reach the contacts
The solution? A shaver!
Before:
After:
Folded up Velcro dots to shim it in place:
A small piece of paper to shim on the side:
Snug but closed lid fit:
this is interesting... is the s3 battery rated at 3.8v too? also, did you really see that 16% improvement in battery life?
Battery life is better yes. And most cell phone batteries are 3.8 volts, and report as "full" at around 4.2 volts, although the app I use for battery monitoring shows the relay is charging my battery to 4.3 volts.

The stock battery life on our phone is pretty decent. But I wonder what kind of extended slim battery options we have for our phone specifially....
Great mod Nard. The S3 battery is very common and I think all aftermarket extended slim batteries for the S3 should work as well. As long as you don't have a problem ghetto rigging it, we can get a lot more juice for out phones. And it retains NFC. Massive plus

Holy cow, an extra 28% battery life for under $5? Heck yes! Just ordered this.
Edit: Don't see NFC mentioned anywhere... I don't use NFC, but just in case I decide I want to start, I'll pick up one of these, and solder the guy on if I need to. Looks to be about the right size.

I have one S3 battery, though from KINPS with 3250mAh that I got last time, which is 5mm thick (1mm more than ours) and should be allegedly same size to the S3 stock one.
But I am not able to close the back cover when I want to use it according to your instruction. that 1mm is definitely too thick and does not let me close it.
would you please confirm that yours is 5mm also or is it less than that?
if the prior, how did you manage to close the back cover?
if the latter, i would go buy a S3 stock battery.
If it's really that tight, I would try and carefully remove the sticker and see if it fits.
Compare it to the stock battery. Shouldn't be much thicker than that

I got a 3 pack of those batteries. All the three of them are just lying at home, their actual capacity was 2100mAh. Besides it didn't charge over 87%, which is 1800mAh approx. Don't know what the problem was, guessing it was the maximum voltage the battery could be pushed to using the phone. :/

Actually the big possibility behind this is samsung has a battery overcharge feature...which is why your battery may only get that high...also Another cause might be to check and make sure your charger is outputting 5v 800ma as thats what is required by phone...i use stock charger with my 5000mah extended battery and loving it...gets full charge with both stock and extended battery....also to note...because of this overcharge feature depending on bad flash or similar it may actually brick your batteries (yes its possible). A prime example is i thought my old relay was bricked...when i got new relay i tried charging the battery from old phone and got the bootloop of death like i did on my old relay..so it got me thinking...and i placed battery from new relay and it booted right up as if a brick never happenned..i started to really research this and found ways to prevent this from ever happenning again as well as finding out about the samsung overcharge "issues" .
Besides when i used the battery, it lost charge out quite quickly and when i did a little research on the batteries, i found out given the size the batteries are likely to be fake and that the best batteries are the stock ones. The big extended batteries are however a different story altogether though. Anyway, i'd charge them overnight once and see if anything happens.
Here's hoping to the phone not bursting and burning my house down!!:fingers-crossed:

a good example...i went from 6 am to now 8:30 pm on my extended and its now at 75% batterry....i only paid 30 with tax and stuff total for my extended and happy i got it...again though...a lower voltage and ma charger will cause issues with battery drain and charge as well...like lets say you used a charger from another android device that calls for 4.5 or 5 volts but only 750ma or 500ma.... in terms it doesnt charge the phone properly causing more workload and time for battery to charge properly
I bought the extended battery of mugenpower (2300mah) for Samsung Galaxy S3. I scratched To insert the battery. The time now is charging but the cover does not close. probably also'll scratch the cover.
Soon I will insert photos of the operation.

I recently purchased this for my galaxy s4. I got right at 9 hrs before it went to 0% and completely turned off. 3 hrs was non stop screen time. I did not use any battery management apps and left wifi on non stop but turned off blue tooth.
It seems like this battery only gave me about 1 he extra over stock. This is a stock replacement. I've seen a lot of Zerolemon worship videos on YouTube but no "real reviews".
Has anyone else any experience with this battery ? Doesn't seem that great.
Ok I must be the only one who owns this battery. That's OK I've always considered myself a pioneer. At any rate I checked again and same thing. No NFC, takes forever to charge, no significant change in battery time. The battery itself is larger than the stock albeit only by a millimeter or so.
Waste of money.

I wouldn't say it's a waste of money... Mine have been treating me well. Really the batteries are only about 2800 mAh or so, not an actual 3000, but I'd still prefer the extra hour or so even if it takes away NFC (that I never use).
Here's the best I've gotten with this battery all on LTE.

I returned the 3000mah battery today.
The 3000mah is 600mah over stock. So in theory you should get +20% more battery time. My Samsung was about 8 hrs which is I believe what samsung claims anyway. So in theory I should get an additional 96 minutes of time. Using touchwiz I got the most 56 minutes.
For me an additional 56 min does not warrant $20. I'd rather take the 20 and buy the bigger 7500mah or keep it slim stock and buy an external that I plug up. Some. A disagree with me but 56 minutes is negligible. 96 minutes would be better as my phone rips through power.
I definitely did not get the same time as you did but I'm using TW and not ASOP. Then again I used it in the manner I normally would and disabled juice defender. Juice defender is pretty good and works well on aggressive setting and helps extended battery life.....
I just personally did not find value in the battery.
Just ran my Samsung battery again and recharged it. It lasted about 8 hrs 20 min this past time. It charged faster than the Zerolemon as well. I may try Ankor or another extended battery. The actual door batteries seem to be better value. My friend got the mophie juice pack for $99. No NFC, no USB OTG, bulky, 2300mah. That's a pretty bad deal the case is huge and that's way too expensive for such little battery..I use USB OTG alot
I have the Zerolemon slim line I don't remember mah but I have had good luck with it. I have gone two days on it, making phone calls and social media . Go figure I guess it the luck of the draw.
Better Suggestion
I'm looking for a better battery, but it has to have a thin enough back case that the touchstone hack would work. Suggestions?

The original Samsung Battery has 2600 mah and the Zerolemon claims to have 3000. That's 400 more not 600.
Good point, I did re-read this thread. I know a friend who also got this battery a little after I did and kept it. I told him about my extra time, and he approximately did get 1hr extra over stock as well. He's had it now for a month, and he says the time now is equivalent to stock (i.e. the extra hour does not seem to take hold anymore).
At any rate, with a spotty experience it is hard to justify over just buying a stock Samsung battery if you need the extra capacity. I don't mind losing the NFC over extra battery time, but the results are negligible at best.
amazing :good:

I never tried it. What I ultimately did was get a portable battery pack and another Samsung battery. The portable battery pack can charge the phone on the fly with the USB cord and also charge any other phones or devices. The spare Samsung battery is for a battery swap if I need the phone ASAP.
The first Samsung battery I got was a fake, so I just went to Fry's Electronics and bought retail an authentic Samsung battery. I knew the Samsung battery was a fake because around 13% it would be become unstable and just turn off. It never went systematically to 0. It just was a toss up when the phone died under 13%. Eventually the battery would just completely die in 2 hrs.
This what I'll do in the future is just buy a spare stock battery. I already have a universal portable battery pack.
I looked at all options. The ZeroLemon extended batteries are bulky (the big ones) and heavy. For anyone who holds and uses their phone a lot, the phone becomes very big to just take in and out of the pocket frequently. Plus it looks horrible in my opinion. If you feel that is a great option for you, more power to you. I take a lot of pictures with my phone, and that battery pack isn't happening.
I also looked at battery pack cases which were not my thing. You buy a Mophie case that makes the phone so huge and only charges your phone to 80% ? For a whopping $100. What a deal.
I bought a spare authentic Samsung battery from Fry's for like $30 or so. My phone is slim, I can take pictures easily, and when I socialize with women and get their numbers, they aren't laughing at my ridiculous phone lol.
I like my zero lemon batteries actually. I got what I paid for. Marginal batteries which help me get through the day. I didn't expect some magical change. They are 10 bucks how much did you think they would help? I like the red charger and I swap between the two batteries I got. Beats carrying around a charger I just pop the other battery in and I'm good for the day.
That's fair. They just were not my thing. I'm content with another genuine Samsung battery. One of my friends got one and still has it. He said that the additional time is not there anymore, and they have the same life as the Samsung batterys. Not sure if it is his battery or how they really are, but I'm content not having it. Plus the battery creates a very minor bulge at the back. I had a very tight fitting case on when I tried the battery and it created a minor gap.
If you like them more power to you, but I don't care for their products.
I have a 3000mah battery.. idk what brand.. it was a gift. So to get the most outta my L720t I bought a $9.99 wall mounting battery charger. And at night I'll charge both my Samsung battery and the extended life one. I use my Samsung till it's dead.. then I'll pop in the slightly bigger one. This way I always know I'll have enough juice..
Thanks for all your input guys.. I was wondering weather or not to get another 3000mah battery.. I'll stick with what's working... lol
I get over 4hrs of on-screen time on my stock battery in my gs4 that I bought the first week in may 2013. I was considering the zerolemon 3000mah but idk now. worst case scenario is that I can always return it if I see no improvement over stock
Just depends on what your need is. Are your guy's cases super tight fitting ? There will be a slight bulge at the back, full disclosure, so if it is extremely tight fitting that might be an issue. Do you have an aluminum backplate battery cover ? Again, you might run into problem it's not a 100% OEM fit, more like 97%.
I just don't think it is worth the hassle since the stock battery works fine and fits fine plus has Samsung quality control, but that's just me. The questionable benefit, unknown quality of the battery, and bulge at the back isn't my thing.

[REVIEW] PolarCell 3400mah Note 4 Battery

PolarCell 3400mah Note 4 Battery Review
You always wanted some extra power “juice” for your smartphone, even with the Note 4 which has very good battery life.
PolarCell sent me their Note 4 Battery with 180mah more capacity compared to the OEM Samsung battery.
Lets get started and see how it looks…

The battery itself has a simple minimalistic Design and matches with my White Note 4 very well.
It weights 1 gram more than the OEM battery and fits perfectly on the phone
Battery Life
Compared to the OEM Samsung’s original battery the battery life of PolarCell was as I expected , same SOT(screen on time) with more idle time .
Day 1 :
On first day use without calibration I managed to get 4hours and 30minutes of SOT from a full charge with almost 23hours in total use.
And I had 13% of battery juice left, that means I could get easily 30minutes more of SOT with Power Saving ON
Day 2 :
Day 2 was better I managed to get 1day and 5 hours from a single charge and 4hours and 20minutes of SOT and I had 15% more battery to spend.
I found myself browsing and using social apps a lot.
Later on you will see Day 3 and 4 , nothing different there just using Whatsapp,Viber,Browsing,Facebook,Instagram and Snapchat a lot and 3G/4G is ON most of the time.
Day 3 :
Day 4 :
Gamebench
Running Asphalt 8 on Gamebench shows the exact same results with both batteries.
Galaxy Note 4 (Snadpragon 805, SM-N910F)
Median FPS: 42
FPS stability: 65%
Battery Life: 4h 12m
Pros :
- Can charge wirelessly
- Slower draining
- Higher total wake on times
- NFC Compatible
- It doesnt add any extra bulk, fits perfectly
Cons :
- I really don’t see any con on this product , there is nothing wrong buying a higher capacity battery in the same size.
Conclusion :
The battery is just an upgraded version of the OEM one, I barely noticed any difference. Its always better to have more capacity , but it always depends on how you use your phone.
With this battery you will NOT get more SOT time, you will just get higher Total wake on times.
I noticed that when the status of the Note 4 is idle the battery is draining slower compared to the original battery.
I will stick with this battery because I get better total wake up times, so far the product seems very reliable and stable. Works fine with the QiReceiver and can charge wirelessly.
Overall the product has a German – premium – quality that only gives you extra benefits. I recommend this battery to anyone.
You can get your own battery from here :
ebay link
thanks for the review. I'm expecting my Note 4 to arrive in about 2 weeks from today so I will probably get this extra battery as well
i assume this battery does not quick charge(qualcomm chip). i have not seen any after market batteries that do contain
What is the ROM and Kernel you are using?
Thanks
So with this Batterie i can not use fast charging? I am right?
Gesendet von meinem SM-N910F mit Tapatalk
I too am curious about fast charging, as well as if you are using any custom ROMS or kernels. My ATT Note 4 can only use stock stuff.
Also, some other questions:
Does the battery fit properly in the phone? ie, no wiggling, sliding, etc?
Does the battery heat up any more than stock?
And finally, does the phone register the correct battery level? ie, the battery level doesn't decrease normally, but then stay at, say, 5% for a few hours. OR, the battery percent doesn't decrease and then magically increase a few % randomly?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
The fast charging is a very good question, as it would limit the capabilities of this battery.
I have also noticed in your comments that you mention wireless charging, but couldn't find the info anywhere on the ebay page or when googling for the battery.
Can you please confirm this is working as well?
Thank you.
I emailed the Polarcell seller via Ebay to ask 2 questions.
First- in case anyone is interested- this battery will work in any Note 4 using the EB-BN910BBU model of battery. This should include the US Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T versions of the phone.
The second question was in regards to the fast charging. The guy said that it does work, but it isn't recommended. To me, the reason for not recommending it had nothing to do with the battery itself, but rather the long-running debate of whether fast charging affects battery life (speed of drain) or long-term battery health (battery degradation over time).
His response:
"Regarding the fast charging: it works with our battery but in general we do not reccomend it. Fast charging does not use the whole capacity of the battery and the overall performance is not as good as using regular charging."
So there we have it.

Update:
I just ordered one. It will be here in a few weeks since it's coming from Germany and I live in the US.
I'm really interested in the longer standby time since I average about 2hrs of SOT every day, so more standby time would be nice.

Fast charging chipset is imbedded in your Note4. this battery just accepts whatever the phone provides it in terms of power. Fast charging has been there for decades but it can easily overheat a battery and shortens it's lifespan. It's recommended to use slow charging and charge overnight, slow charging stays a tad longer by the way, but just a tad.
Hey guys, I just got my battery about 2 hours ago. I charged my phone while eating dinner (normal charge, not fast charge), and took the phone off the charger at about 92%. I've been on Tapatalk now for about 16 minutes and have only lost 2% battery. With my stock battery, I think drain was a little faster.
I can't make conclusions yet though. I will need until Friday night to tell for sure whether this battery is any good. During weekdays, I use my phone about the same way every day, so I tend to come home with about the same amount of battery left. So I'll easily be able to tell how this new battery compares to the stock one.
I will say this though:
I've bought a few "slim extended batteries" before for other phones. All turned out to be Chinese low quality batteries. They tend to be some cheapo plastic battery with a sticker wrapped around them. This Polarcell battery is really nicely made though. It has similar build quality as the stock battery, and the label is printed directly onto the metal casing of the battery. I'm impressed with the build quality at the very least so far.

Very nice
My note 4 gives me 4 hours and 30 minutes of SOT. I was hoping this one lasts much longer than 5 hours.. but still 5 hours and little bit more is still good..

I guess I can report back now.
First of all, 3400mAh isn't that much more than 3220mAh. So it lasting "much longer" than the stock battery is an overly high expectation.
I pretty much use my phone the same way every day, with the exception of the occasional higher-than-usual day. I pretty much end my day with 5% more battery than with stock. I can't give you a SOT estimate since I usually end my day with about 2-3 hours of SOT and between 20-30% battery remaining.
Overall, the battery does last a little bit longer than stock, but nothing amazing. However, the build quality of the battery is excellent. It's not a cheap Chinese battery made of plastic. This thing is of equal or higher quality to the OEM battery!

yep... as mentioned in my review you dont see big improvement in battery life , you just get some extra juice and it works better in idle mode
I also bought this battery several days ago from the same store on eBay Germany as you all..
Checking the amperage, did you guys mange to find an application to show the real 3400 mAh value on battery proprieties?
Using system settings and CPU-Z, PhoneInfo or AIDA64 still showing as 3220mAh. Is this OK?
Today I ordered this battery. When I will receive battery I will do complete report etc... Also I receive notice that it will be send from Germany.

Replacing the S6 Battery with S7 Edge Battery

Hello! I saw some guys changing the S6 battery with S7 Edge battery and it worked. This guy got 18h on battery and 4h SOT.
Here is the link: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=1155869&page=9
You can see first the screenshots on page 9 and on page 10 you can see the actual battery in the phone.
I was wondering how can I open S6 safe, change battery and close it like new?
Unibody phones are very hard to take apart never mind put back together as everything is glued together. If you have no experience in this type of thing I wouldn't attempt it as you might risk damaging your phone.

You can check out my attempt to do so. It is not that hard, although I scratched tha paint from the inside when removing the back - its only cosmetic and not really noticable. If you have the proper tools its not such a big deal - the S7 Edge battery is almost the same size as the original S6 one. Still day 1 with the new battery, but so far it has been 9 hours and barely 25 percent drain. After some charge/discharge cycles it will probably improve even more.
Especially since my original battery had significantly degraded, the difference is night and day.

That's not quite "almost" the same size, the giant bulge created by the excess battery width is actually quite dangerous. All those exploding phones you see in the news, that's what happens when your battery is too big for the compartment it's in. Especially when charging, as the battery expands by up to 10%.
Good luck, and be safe.

As for the "giant bulge"... I would definitely not use these words - as you can see the thickness of the batteries is very similar. I agree of course that this is certainly not 100% safe and of course should be done with full awareness that you are cramming a battery with very chemically reacive metal in a body that was not designed to hold it.
But don't get me started on the whole "exploding phones" bull**** - the media hysteria for less than 100 incidents from a batch of 2.5 million devices was just ridiculous. On a recent flight the air attendant asked any Note 7 owners to report to the captain... I mean come on...
I am not saying there was no issue with the Note 7 design, but that was just so much overblown, its not even funny.

I just did the mod yesterday - will update my article after I have several charge/discharge cycles - sometime during the holidays probably.
Regarding the battery percentage reading, a few words - a battery can't tell how much charge it has left - you can only measure its output voltage. You define 0% charge as the minimum safe voltage under which your circuit can operate. So what Android does is that it creates a table with statistics about voltage readings and estimated charge. So after some cycles from 100% to 0%, this table gives pretty good estimation about your current battery charge in percentage. Switching from one battery to another, means that you need to reset those statistics, to have an accurate estimation. Since the file that holds those statistics is in the system partition, this can be done either via some service menu on some phones, or with an app with root access. So yeah - I did reset my battery stats and am still on the first charge (29 hours since unplugged) so it will take some time before I have some accurate battery stats to show.

Hey, did you manage to fit the backplate glass with this new battery? I have found a thread on reddit in which the guy states that the battery won't fit (in terms of thickness).
The guy actually suggest to use S7 battery.
Could you please post some more photos of modded phone?

Well, honestly I had only one day with "typical" activity, since there are holidays, I am pushing the phone really hard, but the actual one day that I was using the phone normally, my phone died after 30 hours of usage with about 3 hours SOT.
The first few dischages, the battery was showing 1% battery for the last "real" 10 percent. Lately it was getting better, but still a bit inaccurate.
As promised I will update the blog post, when I have enough data.
wauw i am really excited about this mod.
Here is another thread on the subject (especially the last few pages): https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/accessories/legit-aftermarket-larger-internal-t3270489
I'm using the S7 flat battery at the moment, which also works and brings nice results. It's much smaller but a little thicker than the S7 edge battery and fits quick well. With a 0.5 mm double sided tape, the backcover doesn't put obvious pressure on the battery.

Huh, I guess S7 Edge battery that I got is fake, isn't it?

I finished the mod yesterday, charged to 100% and tried to play around with a phone a bit from time to time. Battery died sooner than I expected. I will collect more result for the next two days and will get back here with some actual stats (and probably I will look for another battery as this one seems odd to me)
looks different that original, anyway I don't suggest this type of replacement, even if is same voltage charging ic from s6 is design to charge a smaller capacity battery than s7

Battery percentage <-- Android driver <-- Battery circuit <-- Li-Ion battery voltage sensor
There is no such thing as phone "designed to charge a smaller battery". At least that is gross oversimplification... As long as the batteries operate on a similar minimum an maximum voltage, the charging "algorithm" will be more or less the same, and they will only take more time to reach the maximum voltage (max capacity) and be able to churn more power before the voltage drops to the minimum allowed ("zero" capacity). The initial configuration of the driver that tells what percentage is a specific voltage reading (i.e. 3.85 V = 75%) is specific not only for the battery model, but also changes over time as the battery degrades, so there is constant self correction of this voltage-to-percentage table, which people refer as "calibrating a battery". So even that S6 is configured initially to expect certain battery model, after deleting the old "calibration data" + some charge/discharge cycles - it adapts to the new battery characteristics.
So the battery indicator is pretty complicated stuff - we really can't tell how much charge a battery has left, so we approximate it. And pretty well at that, as you all know.
It is even more nuanced, as for example, when your phone charges to 100% and is plugged in, it stops charging and "lies" to you that it is 100%, when it is silently dropping to the nineties, to minimize battery degradation. Imagine the number of support calls that you will get from angry customers, telling you that their charger/phone is broken and can't charge to maximum.
Works the replacement with a Galaxy S6Edge ? So can i change the battery in my s6e with a battery from the s7e?
Hello guys, I realized this mod. First I have to say it is easy task with lot of tools and heater. After battery replace (original new one s7 edge) the back cover doesn't fit like stock, but almost like stock. If you remove NFC/wireless charging tape then back cover fits like stock.
After few days using my phone I see better battery SoT, but I am not sure if s6 really using whole huge capacity of 3600mAh. I think there is sw/hw limit for battery capacity.
My s6 stays on 1% battery for 30min Sot, and another 30min in TWRP with 0-1% after android shutted down. When s6 is charged says 1h to full, but really time is almost 2h with black screen.
I want to try S7 nonedge battery with 3000mAh and I expecting same results like with s7e because limitation. S7 battery is smaller, lightweight and thicker.
Hope I help.

Can you make a test with Accubattery app ?
Where did you get your battery?
Yes I am using accu battery app. It says 2800mah battery capacity with s7e battery against replaced s6 stock with 2000mah measured.
I bough official s7e battery, not eBay clone.
