Hi,
I need a tough case (curse you Otterbox!) for my Nexus 4 as I will have junior staff using my phone like it's their own. I have seen some cases on ebay that are eligible for shipping to Australia, but they really don't look all that great.
I know finding something as good as an Otterbox, probably wont happen, but maybe something ALMOST as good? Maybe even with a cheaper price tag???

Hi, yes I have seen those before. I was told by another Nexus owner who bought tis case, that the stand makes it a very bulky case. Also the hard plastic on the outside seems to make the phone slippery. He would've preferred plastic inside, silicone outside.
But as I can't find anything else, I think I'll get this one for the time being. (Until Otterbox changes their mind. Yeah right!).

That Seidio one looks good, but the price is exxy. However, Otterbox will cost more ofcourse. A shame I can't get the red or blue one in Australia. I can get them via the official site ofcourse, but it will cost me a whopping 63 bucks lol. I can find the black one on pre-order at an Aussie online shop for $38,- though.
I just noticed that the Nexus are back in stock in Australia again today. As well as in France and Spain (those 2 countries sold out within 10 minutes again on the 31st). So it looks like Google has sorted out stock issues. Maybe this means Otterbox might start considering making a case seeing more Nexus 4's are now available for purchase.

This case is awesome for the price! The only problem is the cut out for the proximity sensor is too small and blocks the sensor when in calls. Easily fixed with a drill bit though Was going to buy the ballistic sg case, but for a cheaper price, i'm happier with this. (I have had a ballistic sg on a galaxy s3 and it was awesome) I still prefer this case. More colour options too. You can even get one that looks like a beer if you're into that.

I had a UAG case for my S4 (actually got the white one because I thought it looked like a Stormtrooper ), and I loved it. My phone survived several small drops with no problems.
I've ordered one (the black one). Its available on tuesday on amazon in my country. Since I had that on my previous phone its my go to case for every phone since then. Love every aspect of this case like precise, durability, looks, protect, grip and its very easy to push the covered buttons unlike some other cases.

I used to sell UAG (Managed a verizon store)
Gotta shill for them a bit and say prob the best case I ever owned. (liked it better than life proof and otter both)
They gave me one for free for taking a test about their product (fairly common)
I would buy one but I wont spend more than 15 bucks on a phone case.

If you want to show off the great looks of the S6, go for the Ash or Maverick, which have clear backs (Ash being darker tinted).

Go to a sprint store.. They have them in Stock. I went with intentions of clear as well and didn't like it. Got black instead. Great fit and works with wireless charging

I know they were out on the site, but I got mine off of Amazon, they have multiple colors. Went with white to match my white S6. Great case, I've used UAG since they first came out and I had my iPhone 5. Love the slimmness and they offer great protection, I did a lot of research and it led me to the UAG simply because TPU is a fantastic material.

I found 1 seller on ebay and for whatever reason I can't purchase from that seller so can someone recommend some other phones that are similar in size where their holster might work with the idol 3 (preferably with the cheap ebay transparent TPU case).

I've heard comparisons with the iPhone6+. Might wants to check the device specs to be sure though. Any local cellphone store or Best Buy should be able to help you. Or you can just eyeball the phone case rack to see what is nearby to your idol 3 size and then go to eBay
Thanks..the phone is arriving tomorrow so I'll be able to actually test fit etc then. I was trying to collect screen protector's, case and belt holster ahead of time but they shipped it "faster" than expected...they took their time shipping it but then shipped it next day delivery.

Just a followup that it looks like the iphone 6 plus as well as the alcatel onenote one have similar footprints so their cases should allow both the phone and a case without issue...I picked up one from each phone type. There are also some "hard cases" on ebay now.

I actually just got the Idol 3 myself a couple of days ago. Anyway, regarding the holster question you can find some options here (some of the results that aren't for the Idol 3, others don't have a belt clip):
In Amazon search for "Alcatel onetouch idol 3 holster 5.5 belt"
Two types of holsters are being offered there by different merchants:
- leather pouch holster that can either be horizontally or vertically oriented
- armor style cases that have a belt clip that can swivel and have a built-in kickstand
I'm personally considering the second option. The thing that bothers me, though, is that many of those merchants take up to 3 weeks or more for delivery, which make me suspect they are some Chinese distributors!
Regarding the comparisons to the iPhone 6, it is no coincidence that Alcatel choose 4.7" and 5.5" screens sizes to compete directly with Apple, in those terms.
So did decide on any one of them? I have tried to look outside of Amazon with no luck whatsoever.

Yes, they tend to be cheaper @eBay, but there aren't any specific ones for the Alcatel Idol 3 there yet. I'm concerned that the cutout for the buttons and connector won't be the right ones for it, especially given the relatively odd placement of the power button, which I have actually become used to.
Amazon does have them since they seem to be the only place other than Ebay where you can get the smartphone for now. Same thing for other accessories for it. Given that I got the Idol 3 for $199.99 shipped, I think I'd rather pay a bit more and get the case I want for it. Even I have to have wait for it a bit longer ... I'm probably going with the red or blue Blue Aurora holster case. Unless I see something better before they become available.
Looking at Amazon to seeing what cases were available for prior Nokia phones (8, 6.1, 6, etc) selection looks horrible. Nothing but cheaply made Chinese cases that usually have poor fit and finish.
I have simple wishes for a case: slim as possible, tpu (no PC hard), black (no yellowing clear), matte (not slick & oily), good fit and finish (ports aligned and no injection flashing), simple design (no fancy carbon look, fake leather, protruding corners, unneeded designs like chamfered edges, dual layer, etc) , and good tactile buttons. Best example is this case I use on my iPhone 8.
If I don't see a some quality cases pop up, I may just cancel my order before it ships, and wait and see if a case ever comes.

I too have been unsuccessful at finding a decent case for the 7.1. I saw exactly the same junk cases that you found on Amazon and no known case manufacturer has yet to show one.
Let's hope somebody steps up. I like that case that you linked to as that type of case is what I prefer as well.

Thanks for the link. I had seen those and would probably buy the Slim Crystal case if I can't find anything else. I don't care much for flip cases myself.
I and I think the OP too were hoping some of the more well known manufactures (Spigen, Tudia, Otterbox, etc) would have something. Time will tell I suppose.

Thanks for the link too, I now have another place to watch for a clear case for the 7.1.
Most of the cases listed on amazon are terrible, in terms of quality or aesthetic. Maybe more will pop up after the release of the device. However, for now It looks like it doesn't have decent one.

I actually ordered that one but the "in stock" date keeps slipping. It was Oct 31, then Nov 1 now it's Nov 4th. Two days after I was supposed to receive it! Not promising at all.
I contacted both D-Brand and Slickwraps. Neither plan to make skins for the 7.1. They both say sales are far too low to justify development.
Got the Kugi in the mail, and agree with the reviews it got for the Pixel 3 version. It’s nicely made, with no machine molding marks and generally good fit & finish. Quality is up there with bigger names, and is not the typical China case. I don’t have the phone, so I can’t comment about camera, port, etc alignment.

Unfortunately until ZTE officially announces North America release of the Axon 10 Pro, then i'm afraid we're out of luck for quality cases made by known 3rd party companies.

I was looking for one as well...i only found ones where you stick your phone to the case with some kind of adhesive sticker and i don't feel like i want that. Doesn't sound secure to me. Probably is, but eh, give me something that actually encases the phone.
I'm afraid to take my new phone out in public for the very reason of not being able to find a good case right now.
Read somewhere that a P30 Pro case may be a close fit for the Axon 10.... May order a cheap silicone case from eBay as an experiment.

Well, my experiment had mixed results. The generic Chinese tpu case I bought does fit my 10 Pro. It did require some minor modifications in order to make the volume rocker and power buttons operate properly. Had to make some small incisions with a razor blade. The case fits the frame very well overall. The camera and flash cut outs aren't exactly a match, but the cut outs don't interfere with their functioning. I only spent a few dollars on the case, so I didn't mind making the adjustment. It works, but it ain't what I'd call pretty...
AliExpress have a few, not the best looking one. I ordered another silicone case that offer more protection for camera.

As of August 10, 2020 still no decent hard case to truly protect the Axon 10 Pro from drops. There a cheapo silicone soft cases to protect against scratches to the back but that WILL NOT protect you one bit from a drop on a hard surface. The only thing that I've been able to find are the fold open "portfolio" cases...I believe that would provide some protection against drops. I may order one of these cheap folding portfolio cases.
I also found a clamshell glass case on AliExpress (sorry I can't post the link because I'm a NEWBIE here..argh) with metal bumpers all around the sides that may provide some protection but I'm assuming once you dropped you phone with one of these cases the case would shatter and you'd have to replace it...and at $20 each that could get expensive. But IF it worked I guess it's cheaper than replacing your phone screen or backing.
I don't understand why no one in China has produced a hard two piece case for the ZTE axon 10 Pro phone...Maybe even China is shunning ZTE at this point. WTH
If anyone comes across a good hard case let us know.
