How to Root Xperia U
Dude please let me know your rooting procedure of Xperia U , now i am with successfully unlocked bootloader .

[Q] Troubles with my bro's Xperia e10i mini

Hello all !
My name is Seby, and I'm here because I consider this a serious community.
With some months ago, I changed the ROM of my Alcaltel One Touch 991, and my brother saw that I can do it, so he wanted to change the ROM of his Xperia e10i mini.
I rooted it, then he was needed to go out of country, so he got just the phone rooted.
Now, he came back, and wants to continue to change the ROM.
The phone was/is still rooted, so I started to search a good CWM for it.
After 2-3 hours of searching for solutions ( found somewhere a tutorial where unlocking bootloader was needed, but I couldn't unlock it because flashtool got error about remounting the system rw, then I kept searching another CWM ) I found a nice tutorial about How to install CWM on xperia e10i. ( this is the tutorial - this is the CWM )
I have installed it, then I wanted to test if it really work, so I spent about one hour to find the combination of keys for it. (spamming Back button while the first "Sony Ericsson" text is loading)
But sadly, it doesn't starts... I tried with ROM Manager (downloaded from pc and copied on sdcard because it doesn't appear in the Android Marker) and rebooted it in Recovery, but it was just rebooting.
I searched for the directory called CWM (or something like that) in phone's data and sdcard, but I couldn't find it.
I'm really bored of this solutions' search, so that's why I registered and posted this.
I hope you can help me, by telling me what should I install, what to do next, etc.
Here is the ROM that I want to install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961707
(looks nice, and the part with "is the most stable and feature-complete ROM for the mini for day to day use" convinced me)
Here are some details about phone:
Firmware
2.1-update1
Baseband ?
M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel
2.6.29
[email protected] #1
Number of compile ?
2.1.1.A.0.6

Did you try Volume down to get in to CWM?
That rom you want to install is 3 years old CM6 = Froyo
Pick some other one, atleast CM7....
You need to flash the kernel first (you can use flashtool)
Kernel has CWM built-in
Enter CWM and install .zip from SD (rom)
I used these when i had my X10 mini
Kernel
Rom

Thank you very much for the reply !
I followed the steps: I unlocked the bootloader, then I loaded the new kernel version... but after ithat, it exited from Flash Mode and started to turn on... but it is stuck in a boot loop now...
It cannot start the OS, it just restarts the loading animation after its own end.
I can access the CWM so I think I can fix it.
I will try to add directly the CM7 because I've read somewhere that this kernel works only with it, so I will give a try
If you have any suggestion, just tell me.
Hurray ! I've installed the ROM !
First, I couldn't install the ROM from CWM (error: can't mount /sdcard) ... then I put the SDcard in my phone and I saw that it is corupted, so I gave it a reformat, then I copied the ROM to the SD, and moved back the sdcard to the sony ericsson and I finally loaded the ROM
Thank you very much for your reply, martinusbe !
Until yesterday, I've lost my hope.
By the way, thanks to all tutorials too
Great.
Now you can try some different roms :silly:
P.s. there is a 'thanks' button, to say thanks...

Thanks ...
Sorry for my english ( is not my native language ) . I know that are lot of posts about this but i'm kinda lost on this forum ...

Rooting doesn't require an unlocked bootloader. You can still root your phone while your bootloader is locked.
I am attaching a zip archive here. It works if you are on Jellybean 4.2.2. Go to settings>about phone to check which firmware you are on.
Just connect your phone via usb wuth usb debugging turned on. Then Extract the file and run runme_win.bat. Your phone will restart abd device will be rooted..
P.S. I am not the creator of this zip. All the credit goes to the developer. You will find the full thread at

1. You need to unlock your bootloader in order to install a custom rom. Since CM11 is kitkat based, you need to unlock your bootloader first and then flash the rom.
2. Depends on what features you want in rom. There are many roms posted and all of them are mostly bugless. Plus there's no such bug known to me that BRICKS the device. Otherwise the developer wouldn't have uploaded it.
3. You can simply flash the stock FTF and your problem will be solved.

I suppose you should do the following. Considering you have unlocked your bootloader via Sony/flashtool. (Sony preferable)
Flash latest stock using Flashtool. 15.3.A.1.17
I found this Download here
The wifi should work after that.
Then you should download any custom ROM. Extract the zip and find boot.img
Flash boot.img via flashtool again. Then flash custom Rom Zip (without extraction) via recovery!
Good Luck

I am glad I could be of any help!
Well, you can use any 15.3.A.1.17 ftf file depending on the region. Usually you do not have any problems apart from supported languages on your phone if you flash some other FTF file apart from your region.
Basically, you will need to download both the files and then you will need to extract them both to find one FTF file. from the link i shared. However, you can flash any FTF file with latest version x.x.17. Make sure you flash FTF made for your own device or you may permanently brick your phone for good. The link I am sharing below is for Xperia L
Here is a place where all the FTF files are compiled together by @Joel16
FIND IT HERE
The guide to flash an FTF file is as follows :
Look here
Remember the guide i sent you is for another device but as long as you flash Xperia L (taoshan) FTF file, it would be fine. Also, you would need to flash everything including kernel.
Good Luck and tell me if you need anything more at all!

I see that you helped the OP get through Wifi problem , but I am also having same problems , maybe more.
I clean installed many different ROMs , including Flashing the 15.3.A.1.17 Stock ROM.
I tried even different KK kernels and JB kernels(for Stock ROM) , but no luck.
Plus I have also tried flashing a kernel through Flashtool and reflashing it from recovery , but my Wifi doesn't work and after a hell lot of reboot cycles , I sometimes manage to get it on , which eventually turns off after crashing the phone after some indefinite time.
Please help.

First of all, how did you unlock your bootloader?
Secondly, when you are flashing an FTF, have you flashed any FTF for a different variant ?
Like if you have c2105 and you flashed c2104 ?
What about your WiFi bug, tell me details about how it started and what kind of error do you get. The more the details, the more you are helping yourself out .
Lastly, is your device in warranty and can you claim it for an exchange if you relock your bootloader?

Bootloader was unlocked through Flashtool from Androxyde.
Wifi problem started when I was using something like FXP 325 , that would be a couple of months ago , but then it was minor , just a reboot would do.
But now I have tried many ROMs(of course clean installed) , kernels(with essentials wiped) , also stock ROMs (.26 ,.12 ,.14 ,.17) all show wifi problems.
By that I know that its a user specific issue. My warranty is over , but I will have no problem paying a bit with relocked bootloader if repairs are needed.
But if there's a way I can fix it at home , please tell. And yeah , I always flash C2104 files as mine is C2104.

I think you should boot into recovery and do a full wipe including internal/ dalvik/everything including SD card. Don't just factory reset but do a complete wipe. (Twrp has that option. In other recoveries usually you have to do it individually.) So go in recovery and wipe everything you can see that could be wiped.
If that doesn't work,
I suggest you relock your bootlader and see if that helps.
Also try to relock bootloader and unlock it via Sony official way. See that works for you or not.
Seems like a software issue most probably because I'm afraid you didn't backup TA while unlocking bootloader and sometimes the keys are lost and it causes some problems like WiFi. Also, the reason is more likely because of the fact that you didn't do it officially. it could be hardware as well but that's very rare. I would suggest that only give it to someone who knows hardware quite well.
Update me what happens!

Well, I would say that this happened due to unlocking your bootloader without a TA backup. I am afraid there isnot much you can do as every device has a specific TA code and I am not sure if someone would be interested to share TA backup with you. Even if they do, I am not sure if it would be helpful.
I would share you with all the options you have got :
Go to question/answer and ask for TA backup from someone, this wouldnot work mostly and I would tell you to do everything with caution and on your own risk but that all that could help you out for now at home really. Try someone else TA and see if it is accepted and the WIFI starts to work again. (But use it as a last resort)
If I may add, if you can get a Jtag guy, he might be able to fix your device for a cost but I am not sure of that either.
Another option for you would be asking an expert to repair your phone and telling him all about TA/ unlocking bootloader. If he understands what you are talking about, it just means he knows what you want him to do. If he doesnot, it probably is a bad idea to pay him. You can add it could be a hardware issue as well just in case. However, some times those people use different sort of cables tools to flash FTF so maybe that could be helpful. You can say, you would only pay if WIFI and bluetooth starts to work again! (Second best option ??? )
I honestly do not know how to solve issues related to TA I also suggest write in Xperia Z1 / Z / Z2 forums about your problem as I remember that many of them had many issues due to unlocking bootloader. Sometimes unrooting solves the problem as well. I think that forum users be able to help you much better! Make sure you add all the details about how it happened, what you did and which device are you using and how everything you tried so far hasnot worked. Make sure you mention all tips you got and those that didnot work for you!
Good Luck!

How can I root my flashed Sony Xperia XZ Premium ?

Hello everybody,
As you can see in the title I am searching to know how i can root my Sony Xperia XZ Premium G8141 47.1.A.12.34, that I have flashed thanks to this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz...shtool-0-9-t3736217/post75276892#post75276892
After Flashing the photo camera doesn't take pictures anymore (take green photos but video works) but I know that this is a DRM problem. I find a tutorial on XDAdevelopers that tell you how to root and fix the DRM on a Sony Xperia XZ Premium : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz...hack-mod-sony-xperia-xz-premium-twrp-t3695171
I Checked first if my Sony was compatible with this tutorial, read everything before doing stupid things and all seams to be ok. I downloaded the XperiFix, installed it and put my device on fast boot mode before I launched the program. But after the rooting process, when my device was rebooted, the camera problem was still present and my device wasn't rooted too.
So I want to know if anyone have the same problem or know how to fix that or have an alternative solution. Is it the flash tool that I used that isn't compatible with the Xperifix software or something else ?

But after the rooting process, when my device was rebooted, the camera problem was still present and my device wasn't rooted too.
So I want to know if anyone have the same problem or know how to fix that or have an alternative solution. Is it the flash tool that I used that isn't compatible with the Xperifix software or something else ?

Well you unlocked your bootloader.
unlocking the bootloader will erase the TA partition which includes camera features (DRM), and now they are deleted along with whats left in TA partition.
now you can not go back to a natural device.
good news is if you follow the procedure properly on this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz...hack-mod-sony-xperia-xz-premium-twrp-t3695171
(2. Use XperiFIX to get what you want)
then you should get your DRM fix patch, read the thread carefully, youre gonna have to do it all over again as you lost TA partition which you can never get back now.
So go do procedure 1 + 2 carefully, you will get it fixed and you will also have a rooted phone
if its not working try to flash a previous version FW that supports xperifix im not sure the one you have is supported but most likely it is, then redo the process in the thread and see if it works out.
hit the thanks if I was a help

Thanks for the help and for the very quick reply !
I'll try too flash a older version firmware for my device, but I didn't find links to download the right version for my actual firmware (G8141 47.1.A.12.34), so I want to no if it's a problem to take an other version (as exemple G8141 47.1.A.12.34 from XperiFirm) and flash it to my device ?

i rechecked and i think the xperifix should work on any firmware so try it out
if you are unlocked just download the xperifix on that link and just run it as instructed and it should work
also check if you followed correctly:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=XeYlIHnSuOM
also check if you installed the firmware that suits your device G1841/G1842 they are 2 different things
flash whats suited.
if that didnt work, you can download the firmware in the video using xperifirm and do the procedure again.
and to answer your question, i dont really understand you already have 47.1.A.12.34 why would you want to install it again? im not getting the question...
