Hello again,
after my themes problems at the last time, I have a new problem and I don't found a solution. The problem is between my Honor 6X and my Garmin Vivosmart HR/Garmin Connect Mobile. I use these combo round about a half year, with some little (normal) problems. If the connection is gone, I restart my phone and everything works normal.
On Thursday evening, the connection between my phone and my Garmin is gone. I try on Friday everything.
These are the things I try
- Reboot the phone
- Reboot the Garmin
- clear cache and data of the app
- Factory reset of the Garmin
- uninstall the Garmin app, reinstall
- Factory reset of my Phone
Nothing helps...Now the problem is, that I can't pair the Garmin. The Garmin shows a pairing code, but the code is after 3 seconds away. In that time I don't have a chance to type the code in the phone. After 3 or 4 tries the app said, that there is a problem.
Now I don't have any more idea.
A try with my Huawei Mediapad M2 tablet works. That connection works.
Other Bluetooth devices (speakers, earbuds) are working.....
Have someone an solution ? I'm a little bit frustrated about it.
I had a similar problem just yesterday. I was unable to pair the 2 devices due to the possibility to insert the code before the possibility goes away (exactly as for you). I was able to do the pair restarting several times the 2 devices, turning off and on both Bluetooth, waiting until the possibility to insert the code didn't vanish after few seconds. But then I had another problem: the Forerunner was not reconnecting after loosing connection due to devices separation.
Here my lucky attempt starting from scratch (unpair and reboot both devices): ***on the phone I set the timeout for visibility to all devices to infinite*** (initially was 2 seconds).
Here the magic: I was able to pair the 2 devices without issues, I can even separate them and when they are insight the connection is immediately recovered.
Hope this help.
Cheers
Ok, I will try it. The first fast try didn't work. So if it doesn't work, I will take a look to the new Huawei Mate 10 (lite)
I have installed the firmware new, but that is not the solution. I can't understand what the problem is. It is a very scary thing.
So, after many trys I am frustrated....It didn't work. The Honor an Garmin Support doesn't reply. What I try is the bluetooth connection to two cheap Fitnesstracker (under 20 Euros) and they are working without any problems.
Same here. The pairing code is gone after some seconds and a new one is generated, making it impossible to pair the devices. Anyone who has an idea? Worked just fine with my old Xperia Z1C

Even miracast is problematic most of the time
Thank you for sharing your experiences. This doesn´t make me very optimistic...
Hi, I was able to pair my Honor 6X with my Garmin Fenix 3 HR, after many tries, using the various suggested techniques (restarting, leaving visibility on etc.)
It appeared pretty much like a lucky moment to have been able to pair.
The connection is however not very reliable - the two devices disconnect from each other frequently and do not automatically reconnect.
Very frustrating.
On different forums I read that many people are having problems with the bluetooth of the 6X, not only with Garmin trackers, but also with Fitbit.
Apparently there will be an firmware upgrade to the next Android/EMEI version by the end of this year, or beginnning next. I hope that will fix the problem.
I would be grateful when someone has a fix, but for the moment it looks like it is a known problem/bug, without fix.
I just bought a vivosmart HR+ and have the same problem. Has anyone tried to downgrade to 4.1 and pair the device? I'm curious if this would allow it to pair, and then if the pairing would survive the update process back to 5.0. If no one has tried, I might give it a shot this weekend. I lucked upon this device at my local Target as "rapackaged" for less than half price ($85.00 as opposed to $179.00).
As far as bluetooth problems with the 6X goes, I've experienced problems with a Pebble Classic and my Android Wear Sony SW3. Both paired just fine, but would stop receiving notifications at random, making them unreliable at best. It seemed to only happen with the 6X. My previous S5, BLU R1HD, and work's S6 never gave me these problems. I too am hoping a future update solves this. I considered trying EMUI 5.1 from the ROM section, but users seem to be reporting other problems there that I don't want, such as reboots, etc.
I happened to buy a second Honor 6x for my wife. It came with EMUI 4.1 and I tried to pair my Vivosmart HR+, but had no luck. I couldn´t even get a pairing PIN in the Garmin app. It would just do connection timeouts.
So EMUI 4.1 seems to be no solution.
Good news: at the garmin forums, some user called fin.pimlico had a clue where to search for the error and came up with a procedure that worked for me.
but read for yourself:
https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-...unable-to-pair-fenix-3-with-android-7-0-phone
Good luck!
Hopefully this will help me out. My phone is having to be sent in to the service center for repair some I bricked it. So when it comes back, I'll definitely give your a shot. Thanks.
Garmin devices are developed to pair through Garmin Connect, and not Bluetooth. If you open and close your bluetooth connection, and try to manually pair devices, you're going to have problems. Skip trying to pair and connect altogether, open the app, and do EVERYTHING through the app, NOT MANUALLY.
---------- Post added at 03:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:30 PM ----------
When I say skip, I mean delete ("forget") any direct connections you've already established through Bluetooth between your device and your phone, and go for the "Garmin Devices" option in the app, tap on "Add Device" and follow the steps until you manage to connect directly through the App.
@scolfaro
You´re right, but unfortunately this isn´t the problem we are dealing with here. The pairing of an HONOR 6x didn´t work from within the Garmin app. As I mentioned before, fin.pimlico tracked down the cause of the error and his solution of temporarily deactivating Wifi, GPS, and Data connection during pairing (from within the app) worked for me.

Thanks for posting this. My device came back to me today and I was able to successfully pair my tracker with my Honor 6X.
Well, the connection is flaky at best, I've had to repair twice already. I wonder if it will be better on one of the other ROMS, like Lineage OS....
I received an email from Garmin today that basically said that they've been working with Huawei and that the problem has been fixed. They said unfortunately, it means our device needs an update so we're at the mercy of Huawei to release the update. Below is a copy/paste of the email they sent me:
Dear Customer,
According to our records you’ve contacted us regarding connectivity issues with your Huawei phone and Garmin device. Please know that this is a very high priority issue for us and that we have escalated this issue to Huawei Engineering. We’ve recently been pleased to hear that their team has identified the solution to the problem but that it will require an update to your Huawei phone. We have requested an expedited release of this fix, but unfortunately at this time do not have a commitment from Huawei as to when this fix will become available.
We’ll be sure to keep you informed as soon as any additional progress is made on this issue.
Thank you for your patience,
Garmin Product Support
this is why I sold my 6x and got me a G5+ instead... not that that's any help, but still... super device, questionable software...

I tried to follow fin.pimlico's instructions scrupulously, but my Honor 6X will not let me proceed with Add Device without WiFi and Mobile Data being on. How are you able to do that? Anyone else get that error when trying to proceed with WiFi and Mobile Data off?
I was able to connect via Garmin Connect after uninstalling all updates to Google Play Services. I don't expect that connection to survive once Google Play Services updates again, as it unavoidably will. Hopefully, this will give a clue to someone highly skilled and experienced in Android inner machinations.
@NotNalb
I did it like "magi3x" in this thread:
https://forums.garmin.com/forum/int...rt-hr-and-huawei-p10-lite-pairing-issue/page2
"After the phone searches for the watch and asks you if you want to pair it or go on searching, I click "yes" and IMMEDIATELY minimize the garmin connect app and turn off Wifi, and GPS.
I return to GCA and wait for the pairing pin to appear.
Before I enter the PIN on the phone i return to settings and turn on Wifi and GPS again.
Back in GCA I enter the PIN, press OK and the pairing is successful.
I had to try this several times in order to get the right timing but in the end everything went smoothly."

I am starting this thread to be a place for Terrain owners to come for the latest info on how to root and flash their phones. The Terrain is one of the best "rugged" phones on the market, but it has been abandoned by it's manufacturer, leaving owners to find their own solutions to problems and upgrades. This is actually a good thing price wise as you can now buy a brand new Terrain for less then $85. The Terrain has about as of hardware specs as any other ruggedized smartphone on the market currently, but at one third or a 1/4 of the cost. This makes this phone a huge attraction to anyone who is looking for a rugged waterproof phone on a budget and is why this guide is essential for users.
The NEC Terrain still has plenty of life left and this is why we need to come together and find solutions for it. Please feel free to post you success stories in rooting and flashing your terrain to this thread for the benefit of all. Hopefully, will be able to form a complete guide from all the information that get's posted here.
Thanks.

Thanks for the post and the links. It appreas that much of the information on these links are still a work in progress. Hopefully this work will continue and we can create a How To guide from this.
For those that may be interested. You can buy the NEC Terrain Unlock on Amazon for $79.99. Here is the link.

Well, I almost bricked it few days ago. :good:
I read a thread about a patch to unlock GSM in CDMA phones and saw there a code to enter some hidden menu. I entered that menu and messed a little with band settings (wanted to get LTE to work with my operator). Next thing I know Terrain stopped receiving any GSM signal and for next hour I tried to fix it. Factory reset got me 2G signal and that's all.
It turned out that the only way to fully fix it is to re-flash firmware or radio module and as we know that can't be done.
Well, this is not about unlocking or flashing, but it is a solution to another problem I and many other have been having with the predictive text bar blocking critical function keys from being accessed. The predictive txt bar is a function of the Adaptxt keyboard app and disabling it does remove that bar, but the keyboard also loses all special character function, upper case letters and numbers. After trying more then a dozen keyboard apps to replace adaptxt, I found one that works and brings back all keyboard functions without the stupid predictive text bar. It is called TouchPal.

Forgive me for this slight OT-posting, but it's not that easy to find people with this device - let alone an unlocked one. I'm located in Germany and the device runs just fine - except for the fact that Tethering does not work - neither USB nor WIFI. The PC can connect to the phone, however the connection in Windows 7 always is shown as being limited (no internet access), while internet on the phone works fine.
GMail - as well as some other functions of google also rarely sync and basically just do so on request, while they sync just fine when being connected to Wifi. And no, background data are not restricted in the settings.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

Well actually I know that message as well. For me changing the APN helped. You could also try to restart the phone. I just remember I also had this problem sometimes. But like I said - even without that particular message I would not get tethering to work.
iDomino: Do you also experience the problem with syncing that I had?
That's funny, actually I haven't noticed syncing problems untill I read your posts. I myself have all the same problems that you mention.
Even more of that, Terrain has some silly feature that TURNS OFF WI-FI if it thinks that that hotspot has no internet connection. It is massively annoying and can drain all your data traffic. The only solution that I found is to install the app "Smart Wi-Fi Toggler", it constantly turns wi-fi on if terrain turns it off, but only in places where I turned wi-fi on myself (like home and work).
It's a pity the phone has so many flaws and due to its tight security and the locked down NEC mobile devision no one can do anything about it. I wonder if this just affects the users who use an unlocked phone outside the US or if people in the US have similar problems. I have tried contacting NEC about this - actually about providing us with some kind of unlock mechanism - but all I got was this:
"Dear Sir,
Thank you for inquiry.
We, however, regret to inform you that our phone is not available about your request.
If you have any issue, would you try to contact the company or shop where you have purchased this model, who might be of help to you.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Fujii /NEC"
By the way, I discovered a new bug: When Roaming the actually used Network-Provider is not shown and I also didn't find a way to choose one...

I had some sync problems and I don't know working methods to fix it.
First time I solved it this way:
turning off apps sync -> open Gmail app -> it will show notification offering to enable synchronization -> use it -> sync works.
But this solution worked just once. (
Other time sync turns on by itself after one day disabled.

Another Terrain user here!
Hi guys!
i am Kharl
i am another Nec Terrain user here!
due my lifestyle, i needed a phone which could gives me reliability and power under ANY circunstance, that could be done by any rugged phone, BUT i needed querty keyboard, fm radio, gps, gyroscope, accelerometer, loud speakers, that could work worldwide and touchscreen... the only one with those features was the Terrain... and with the extra, that it is amazingly cool, i dont know opther but i find this phone really cute, very sober and elegant design.
well, i live outside USA so, for me, to work it couldnt be locked to ATT, so i was able to get one unlocked.
my phone has almost all the problems you mentioned, althught i am still happy with it and i am not going to change it because its problems does nto interfere a lot with me, BUT of course id like to get those problems sovled.
trying to solve the problem i bough three of thes phones and all the three had the same problems
the first one was by mistake, locked to att, but it had the same problems, random restart and locked hotspot, i sold it, i got a second one, works with any sim, everything fines, but with the same problem, random restart and no hotspot, i bought a third one to see if the problem was with my particular phone... and n luck the same problems.
it has some other minors problems, like no stereo audio recording despite it has two mics and IT STATES IT CAN record in stereo, but thats not a problem, i can deal with that, and sometimes the people at the other side (while in a call) says my voice sounds like from within a box (lack of trebble or too much bass) and when i press the check too much to the phone boddy there is also clarity sound problem.... but thats ok....
regarding the two main problems
random reboot and hotspot
many of us suspect what the cause is
for the random reboot many could think it is a installe app which is causing it... NO, because it does it at factory state, to solve that i dotn think root is needed, there is a certain factory process that is causin to reboot, the reboot is VERY random, could doit threee times in a day or could happen only three times in a week, what i have notice is that it happe lessoften in cold weather.
the hotspot problem IT IS cause because att locked that function, even when the phone is ulocked, that part remain locked because ATT.
what about you guys?
u can try hard reset for begging
Anybody seem to be having problems with their XZ Premium GPS not working as they should be? Mine is intermittent, sometimes when it works, it works well. But the moment I took a wrong turn and quickly fired up my Google Map navigator, it have problems detecting where I'm at. The Map will show the route, but my location is all over the place. It would pause and stay in that spot for a while, then move me on a lake or off road. I tried "GPS status" app to pin point where I'm at. It doesn't always want to work.
It's getting really annoying, I want it to be reliable when I need it. Lucky I still have my Z3 as backup. So far, seems like the Z3 is the best Sony ever made.
Same problem here...It is hard to start GPS....it shows current position, it lose it. I have to fight for 10 minutes until its stable.
the same issue here. OK after reboot, but problem is back again a after
I had that problem once while downtown... the buildings in that area are all old and packed pretty closely together. It just did not want to update for the life of me. Rebooting it did not seem to help it at all. Especially using the walking directions... forget it. I didn't have time to fuss with a gps app to see if I just wasn't getting any sat connections, but if it happens again I will.
Wow, so it's a known common problem. I hope it's software related so it can be fix by updates. Now I have to open two programs to make sure it always working all the time. Run "GPS Status" app and then open Google Map. Cumbersome.
Dial *#*#7378423#*#*, service test, GPS, Purge Assistance Data
This worked for me!
My use of Purge Assistance Data seemed to help, but I've had a couple of episodes of the problem since then where it didn't help. However, in the past three days the problem has not appeared. I cannot determine what has changed; many apps have updated as usual, and in order to try to determine if this is a hardware problem I ran phone in Safe mode during which problem did not appear. Interestingly (or not) the problem has not occurred during subsequently use of the phone in normal mode. BTW, I'm running the July 1st security update (45.0.A.7.90); the August 1st version has not been offered to me yet by the Software Update).

This won't help? - - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=73337848
My XZ premium is 4 weeks old and had problems with the GPS since day one. The GPS was very unreliable taking me in the wrong direction and sometimes delays in giving instructions until after passing my turns. Using google Maps and high accuracy settings. Contacted Sony today and they have asked me to contact google first to make sure there is no software issues from their side before they can look at it. Meanwhile I will download a different navigation app and see if the same problem happens.
I did GPS location test but it seems everytime I attempt it the phone seems to take forever in finding anything so I give up normally after 10 mins.
If any one has found a solution to this problem please let me know (other than changing the phone of course)
My GPS problems went away with 45.0.A.7.120
You're not alone!! I always end up going wrong directions. Compass is very way off.
Sent from my G8142 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
+1 here. it's really frustrating as i use my GPS a lot.
I have the same issue. Second time I sent my phone to Sony. I will update the forum.
Was having this issue as well. Purned GPS Assistance data seemed to help. also did the battery trick. maybe sony should give us an update that will not allow gps to "turn off" when using apps that require it.
i searched on my phone some where on the hidden settings. The Destination was 30mins and about 20miles or so. Said the gps was only on for around 10. Cellular data was used too. This has to be a software issue. why it shuts off gps at times.

Yes, XZP supports Galileo. But it has not been enabled yet. :/
Had the same problem, gps not locking until I purged assistance data and rebooted the device, then it worked fine for about 48 hours until I had to repeat the process.
I completely solved this problem by uninstalling Google play services updates. This was a known issue for other phones some years ago.
Can anyone else confirm this solution?
I just bought my first ever Android phone, Acer Liquid Zest Plus.
It's not quite working in the limited ways I was hoping it to work.
First, I drive a Honda, which has handsfreelink system for connecting the phone to the car. The phone connects to handsfreelink ok, but then shows some weird behavior, in that when using the car's controls to place a call through handsfreelink, handsfreelink immediately apparently hangs up the call (i.e. the car's display shows that it hung up the call). However, this does not actually hang up the call on the phone itself, as the call gets placed nonetheless and when someone picks up on the other side, I can have a conversation through the car's audio system. Seems to almost work, but the weird behavior just described means that I can't hang up a call without pulling the phone out of my pocket and hanging it up from the phone (as opposed to hanging up using the car's controls) while driving, which takes a lot away from the point of it all.
What could be the issue with this? Note that I had a Blackberry Passport before, which used to work all as intended with handsfreelink, and my family member's iPhone 7 Plus also works as intended with handsfreelink. Is it that my Acer Liquid Zest Plus does not have the necessary bluetooth profile/stack to works with Honda's handsfreelink? Is it that handsfreelink proprietary to Honda and uses something unique, as opposed to being a generic bluetooth device of the kind? Is a bluetooth device link this, used by other auto manufacturers, feature the same generic bluetooth thing, or is this something only Holda can possibly answer for me?
Could updating the phone solve this issue? If so, how? I go into Settings -> About phone -> System updates and it tells me that my device is up to date (I did not update it since pulling it out of the box). I notice that it's on Android 6.0 , and a quick Google search showed some discussions that it is highly unlikely that the phone will get newer Android update. The "Android security patch level" shown in "About phone" says December 5, 2016. That's a long time without a security patch. Should I, and is it possible to, update the phone?
I've heard of rooting an Android device and installing custom Roms before. Where can I find a guide for my device and the custom Rom files? I am hoping this might solve my issue with handsfreelink.
I know I am all around the place with my questions, but essentially, the issue I am having is that bluetooth connection to my car's audio system does not work as expected, and I am wondering how I might fix it. I am wondering if an OS update (either official version by manufacturer or a widely-used custom Rom) might solve this issue, or simply adding an extra bluetooth profile to the phone.
A solution would be awesome, but I'd be asking too much if I was hoping for that. Instead, if anyone can just provide me some pointers in terms of how to do research on what I should be doing to solve this, or clarify some concepts (to the extent you can tell I got it wrong from reading this post) for me, it would be really appreciated.
I've already been to Honda's handsfreelink website and Acer's support page for this product and there's nothing helpful there.
Thank you very much.

Me:
When two BT devices capable of telephony functions are connected, the second one connects as "Connected (no phone)", and its telephony function cannot be used.
Example (picture attached). If Huawei Watch is already connected, when Jabra Talk attempts to connect, it will connect as described above, and one cannot make or receive phone calls on Jabra Talk (but still can on the watch.)
Oneplus support:
Thank you for taking the time to send us this email as well as the screenshot that you provided. I understand that you want to use both of the Bluetooth devices for easy access and getting in touch with loved ones for helping us keep on track with our daily activities.
I would like to inform you that the OnePlus 6 can actually connect to two Bluetooth devices. However, by default, you can only choose one for making and receiving calls. Just choose which you preferred to use by toggling the "Phone calls" under each setting of the Bluetooth devices.
This bug was not present in 5.1.5. They introduced it in 5.1.6/7.
This bug is present in all Pixel phones because it's a buggy Google code that Google simply does not care to fix.
Samsung fixed this in their phones.
So, I am guessing OP had this fixed in 5.1.5, but then they just lazily copied and pasted that Google garbage code.
And they don't know how to fix it now. So now it's a freaking feature.
UNBELIEVABLE!
I have the same problem with my Huawei Watch and my cars hands free system
I tried to disconnect the watch with Tasker as soon as my hands free system connects, but it never worked reliable (because the watch connects again immediately and takes over the call functionality)
I guess we need to wait until we get Android Pie because as far as I know this problem is solved with Android Pie

I hope so. But I'm not that hopeful - I think it's a Google bug, and they simply don't care to fix it.
Meanwhile, I have to disable the phone functionality on the Watch so I can use my hands free car kit.
It's so disappointing, especially since this stuff always worked with Samsung phones, OOS 5.1.5 (the bug was introduced in 5.1.6/7) and even the early Pixel, pre Android 7.0.2.

if Google's code is garbage, I suggest you stop using android and start making your own good code!

I disabled the phone functionality too
I had a Samsung phone before as well (Note 8) and with that I had no problems with my hands free kit but instead the smartwatch lost the phone functionality after a few hours so I always had to reconnect it (basically the same problem but the other way round)... it's very frustrating that such a pretty basic thing doesn't work properly
I also tried this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect
but it didn't seem to make any difference, it didn't seem to make anything at all
I read that Android Pie is able to connect to more than one Bluetooth headset at a time so this should fix the issue after all

I had a Pixel XL for over a year. Only kept it for Project FI. Bug ridden POS.
Sold it for half going price just so I could feel clean again.
Even if Samsung *used* to have sluggish Touchwiz in the past, at least it didn't have deal breaking bugs.
Don't even have to make my own code - some XDA roms had fixed this bug, as opposed to Google.

I am almost positive that if you had a somewhat similar problem on a Note 8, it's probably Google's fault.
I don't really use the 2 BT phone functionality for more than 30 min on average, but I've never had any problems on Note 7, GS6 or GS9, or even on a Pixel pre 7.0.2 android, when this bug was first introduced.
After 7.0.2, bluetooth stuff just broke everywhere. This bug, constant disconnects and reconnects, for some people music skips, for some doesn't even work, BT UI in Settings just crashing etc.
It's like Google replaced their BT programmer with a monkey at that point, or even a monkey's nephew.
So just because you cannot use 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously to make phone calls, it's a deal breaker??? Lmao please please please go back to Samsung so we don't have to hear the whining anymore. Good luck with those bootloaders
For my diabetes I use the Freestyle Libre system to measure my glucose levels. It works using NFC, it should work using NFC. Sadly it only works a few times out of every 10 times I try. Sometimes the Oppo reads my glucose levels with no problem but usually it is just a miss and miss scenario.
Sometimes turning NFC off and on resolves the issue, sometimes powering the Oppo off completely resolves the issue, but several times the seemingly only option was to do a factory reset , reinstalling everything again, whereafter it works a few days, when the same problem reappears again.
As you can imagine, not something that makes me happy. Anyone out here who recognizes these NFC problems, and has a solution, or a way to make it work more reliable. Every other NFC operations seem to work okay, but this one is really bugging me, especially as it is important with regards to my wellbeing. i am using a fully updated Oppo Find X2 Pro.
On my previous phone, a Samsung S9+, i had no issues at all.
I'm so glad someone else also has this issue!
I was about to start a similar thread.
I have a lot of issues scanning my libre and it hardly ever works!
Can anyone help locate the exact location of the NFC sensor. I have watched Jerry rigs everything teardown but he did not mention where exactly it is located.
If someone could give me the exact grid number from this grid I've created I'd be very grateful!

Is this issue still present on Android 11 for you? My issue still persists even on a factory reset
Have you found solution. I have the Same problem with OPPO reno 4 z
I have bought an Oppo Find X3 Lite this weekend. Same issue. Anybody has a solution already for the above? I imagined only NFC would be enough but why is it that the Oppo phone does not connect with the scanner? Any idea anybody?
I got the Android 11 update for Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, and my Freestyle Libre 2 Sensors stopped working with the phone. When I try to scan, the NFC service hangs and NFC will not work anymore untill phone restart.
Oppo told me it is a known problem and they will try to fix it in a new firmware update. God knows when.
THANX A LOT, OPPO! Now I have to carry around the ****ty Freestyle reader all the time!
Hi Everyone. I had this issue and called ABBOT. Got a fix which now works. In your phone settings go to the libre link app and clear the cache data. Restart your phone and voila it works!
